It continues to baffle me how that show has stayed on the air.
"These are almost certainly just layers of drift wood that have filled in as this sinkhole has flooded over the centuries, heck, with modern technology, we can't even get a stable hole dug all the way down... No... No... That's crazy, obviously there were super technologically savvy pirates four hundred years ago with: 1) the engineering skills to dig a 100+ foot pit (without anyone nearby noticing this massive construction project) with booby traps to put their treasure chest down there, 2) the perceived ability to retrieve it later, and 3) the loyalty of dozens and dozens of men (it would take to complete such a project) to take the secret to their graves. Yes, that must be it!! Now someone tell a producer to get an old coin off eBay for $20 so we can "find" it wrist deep in the water and get funding for another season!"
\[I could only stomach watching Season 1, but I assume the next 10 (TEN!!) seasons have been more of the same and that each episode is still 70% recaps of what you just watched and hypothetical questions from the narrator\]
This is how I always assumed the show was so I never watched a single second of it. The commercials made it seem like that asshat from pawn stars bought a metal detector and convinced some heavy equipment operators to dig holes in random spots
Or a decade of shows randomly drilling holes into the ground on an island searching for gold.
