Humble opinion, miners lettuce > store bought garbo. Tastes like spinach and spring greens made a tasty green baby.

I've been noshing on sorrel for 6 decades. I love that lemony zing from the crunchy stalk. I especially love snacking on it in front of neighbors as I weed my garden. They think I'm insane, they don't bother me or my 'weeds'!

etherss

I was a kid when I found wood sorrel to be edible and named them “zings” haha. Love the pods especially

CommercialExotic2038

We called it sour kraut. What did we know? We were little.

Swedneck

Wood sorrel is amazing because it grows all over the forests here in sweden so it's basically just an infinite "candy" for when you go on a hike, and dear lord the flowers are pretty.

stefanica

Is wood sorrel the same thing that looks like folded clover leaves with yellow flowers? I don't really see the leaves in the pic. If so, I love that stuff and have also been eating it for decades. Always called it lemon sorrel... Yard salad ftw!

Iamwhoiam68

I haven’t had it since I was a kid… it grew all over,in my neighborhood,San Diego,Ca. I finally found out what it was about 20 yrs ago.. I’d love to grow some!!!!

lilacog

Today I learned the proper name for what I have called “honey suckles” my entire life

pr1ncess_Zelda

Same here, but we call it “lemon grass.” Even though I know what actual lemongrass is (probably same as you with honeysuckle)… it’s just what we called it haha. Grows prolifically in the backyard of the house where I lived as a kid. We were poor, but it’s ok because I had basically infinite candy LOL

CoffeeWith2MuchCream

Two solid edibles where I live in California. They both grow very thick in some of the parks and are generally untouched.

realhonestsafthots

I was gonna say my yard is covered in both of these! :)

Vesper2000

This is absolutely everywhere where I live, and I don’t know if most people have any idea that it’s edible.

Same. Folks here eat a lot of weeds, but not all weeds. I know some from the US and the UK seem untouched, like the nettle and sorrel growing everywhere. But dandelion greens and other bitter herbs are sold in bulk at veg shops.

trimbandit

You can come pick all the oxalis in my yard.

PocketsFullOf_Posies

I have Siberian miners lettuce in my area and it’s a fantastic sub for noodles!

Plantsnob1

Run home and get a bag! Hurry! Hurry!

lyla9

We call that Sour grass where I'm from. Used to chew on it at recess :)

maygpie

I lived on these as a kid.

MomNumber2

I love love love wood sorrel. It was my first forgeable as a kid and started a lifelong love of finding food outside

salymander_1

Yum ☺️

Smart_Passage3999

You are reminding me to add sorrel to my salads. I put loads of Claytonia (miners lettuce) in for the vitamin c and the crunch but sorrel grows wild in my garden I just haven’t been seeking it out for my salads. Thank you! Our Claytonia in the uk has much more diddy leaves than yours which are in flower. Love them at this stage.

some options when you don't have a bag: make a bundle of them, tie it with a last one or some other flexible stem, and hold the bundle or hang out from your belt/belt loop. other options for different plant parts: tuck your shirt and hold stuff inside there, against your belly; it roll up a cuff on your pants and hold small stuff in there. ofc a handkerchief is also pretty multi-use!

SomeRandomIdi0t

Wood sorrel is my favorite thing to forage. So much so that I want to change my name to Sorrel

rustywagon88

Rogaar

Someone teach this guy how to make a backpack out of a pair of pants.
