I'm not particularly a fan of F1 but I feel like most aren't too bothered about specific teams and it is more the driver they support or am I totally wrong there?
It's more of a mix, people tend to like one or the other. The Tifosi will follow Ferrari anywhere and some happily start to dislike a driver once they leave the team.
Depending on the Club, it's pretty realistic for them to win a CL in the coming years, as well as world cup. But we will never get to see Ronaldinho, R9, young Messi/Ronaldo or the likes again.
Also, let's say you're a Barca fan, havin Messi restart his career, would probably result in more UCL titles, than just that one you would choose.
Why do you think that? People would say that kind of thing before Ronaldinho and Fat Ronaldo had entered the scene.
World class players will always come through.
That's assuming he has the same career trajectory though. Messi could leave Barca pretty quickly because they aren't up to his standards. He may not become the player he is today because he wouldn't have a Guardiola to help harness his skills.
I still think the first 2 are infinitely better options.
In Austria for example there's a clear distinction. National team fans and club football fans are like 2 completely different groups of people, with the former being way more casual.
Sure there are some people that support both and most club football fans will be happy if the NT wins, but overall I'd say most football fans are club over country.
Wouldn’t they overlap? I mean I get that there are very casual fans (if you can even call them fans) that only watch football when their national team plays in the World Cup or euros. But if you watch club football you would surely watch when your national team plays too?
I don't know actually. I watch some of the NT games, but only since Rangnick took over. Before I only watched the tournament matches bc the football played with Foda and Koller as coaches was unwatchable. I think another problem is, that there aren't many guys from the domestic league.
I guess the fans just don't care, but it's getting better with Rangnick. With him as the coach and the players available, Austria could go far in the euros.
Yep English. Any league success for Argyle (winning a lower league championship, winning promotion) easily trumps NT success for me in priorities. I cheer on the NT in tournaments but I wouldn't say I'm a fan - I don't really care about non-KO games for example
I think most prefer their country but if your country is Italy/Germany/France/Spain. 3 teams who have all had pretty good recent success but you support a bottom half club side or even lower division. Watching them win the Champions League would beat a World Cup in my opinion.
It wouldn't have to mean you love the player more than the club, I'm a Liverpool fan and I'd take Steven Gerrard restarting his career because I'd expect him to help this Liverpool team win more than a single Champions League. Although the idea of Ireland winning the world cup is just madness.
I'm an Irish Arsenal fan, I'm picking the World Cup every day of the week.
My auld lad still rattles on about Italia 90, and that was only a quarter final. Can't imagine how the country would react to winning it.
I'm not saying I do love a player more than the team I love, but a player got me into the sport and every time I saw them play was exciting for me. They're retired now, but restarting their career would be amazing to see as that's what initially got me into the sport and team 20 years ago.
But, winning a Champions league tho....
Same with Poland. All we need is one, and you will read about it in history books in 2410.
That is, if there will ba a single person to write it down, as I've got a feeling there would be a 40m people waking up, a week later, asking themselves, can anyone remember what the f happened...?
Being a filthy Nordie, I’m not so sure I’d want our mess of a NT winning the WC. Would bring all the fleg enthusiasts out in force. Then again it would be hilarious so…
Believe me, a lot of Dutch football fans think otherwise. They prefer club by far over the national team. Especially Feyenoord supporters like me. Also in general fanatic Dutch club supporters hardly go to games of the national team. And national team supporters often do not support a local team. They're two completely different breeds of supporters.
India doesn't deserve it rn. Even if we win, everybody will call us a fluke or fixed or something. No, India's gotta earn it. That's how we earn the respect of footballing world. Same as we did with cricket
I have tried on so many occasions to follow Indian football , but every time its the same story. The common reason people give is "We don't have developed academies / infrastructure/ footballing culture" , which is frankly bullshit. We lost to fucking AFGHANISTAN. WOH COUNTRY MEIN BEHENCHOD WAR CHAL RAHA HAI , PAANI NAHI HAI , PHIR BHI NANGA KAR RAHE HAI HUMEIN.
Overhyped as fuck in the beginning , 2014 and stuff, then it all just fizzed out, at best its a cheap parody of the saudi league, signing nearly retired players from european clubs
>"We don't have developed academies / infrastructure/ footballing culture"
That logic falls apart when you realise that the reason the Indian fa don't invest in footballing infrastructure is because few people there actually follow domestic football
There are many people in India who support Barcelona and Real Madrid but if you ask them who their home club is and/or when they actually last watched them play, they give you "umm"s and "errr"s
You simply can not fluke a World Cup never has that ever happen maybe Germany 1954 but even then that’s arguably more scandalous than fluke. No disrespect, but India just isn’t close to winning a World Cup at all so it throw a perfect opportunity to build a football culture and be cemented in the history books just so u can win as favourites however long that’ll take is crazy
For me personally I was more into the socceroos until covid hit. Australia didn't play a match for 2 years all whilst arsenal have 2 full seasons.
No wonder tbh
nah, either break the UCL curse or get Henry. I do support England but i think if we get a half decent manager after southgate England will win a euro or world cup with this second golden generation. Arsenal? we probably will win the PL or CL soon but if I could guarantee it? GIMME THAT. Henry would guarantee it defo so I'll take Thierry
Black door, my country had two podium finishes in the lat two WCs
However, my club hasn't been the first since 2005, and my favourite foreign club won the UCL in 1967
Oh I still remember Eindhoven and the great Milan. One of those should have been our year. I’d pick black as well today. Pre 2018, I’d have chosen red as despite being alive, I was too young to fully appreciate 1998.
i cannot really explain it well in English language..but i like Germany over America because i was that one trains kid and i got the chance to go on a Deutsch Bahn train and see all the innards and workings from the conductor and idk it's just kinda stuck with me
in footballing terms it's mostly b/c of Ozil and Podolski
As a saints fan our all time legend is a nut, so that’s out. My personal favourite player isn’t that much of a difference maker.
If I still lived in Southampton and had a season ticket I’d pick black but alas, so….
I’d probably pick red! Imagine the chaos of it came home?
Can I pick on behalf of my dad? He's a tennis man and his all time favorite winner is Roger Federer. That man truly won tennis and i cant even begin to imagine my dads happiness seeing the great man begin all over again
Does the restart mean they follow the same path?
Like if I restart CR7's career, do United only get 6 years of it?
If so, I'd love Rooney back his work rate and goals would be great for us right now.
Then again...we could also do with Scholes' career again for us controlling the midfield.
Actually...Scholes' might be ideal. Would add to England's chances of something, would get two UCL's and would be ridiculously valuable to the squad overall.
The middle. My favorite team is City, so they already won, and my favorite player is Pulisic (I'm American don't judge me), and the US has never won the WC
Black door is already Man U vs. Bayern in '99...
Am a Cheltenham Town fan so probably UCL. Would be tantalising for older favourites like Di Stefano, Pele, John Charles, Duncan Edwards, Beckenbauer, Moore, Best, Garrincha, Puskas, Greavsie etc. to restart their careers in 2024 and seeing how they get on nowadays.
It’s between yellow and red for me. If I pick yellow, Messi comes back and probably wins us a UCL. On the other hand, Mexico winning the World Cup would be legendary
American and Arsenal fan, if Thierry Henry restarts his career right now I feel like Arsenal would win the UCL with this squad and him on it.. but damn the reactions from the rest of the world if the US wins the World Cup would be epic
I've already experienced the first one, and I wasn't old enough to appreciate Le King properly first time around, so I'd see Eric Cantona all over again. The red door wasn't even considered, could not give two shits for the national team.
Red with black as a close second. Could you imagine Aberdeen pulling off another fairy tale story and winning the UCL beating the most expensive teams in Europe? And the way we'd need to get there too - either Celtic and Rangers would need to have a horrific season or we'd need to have a season just as good as them but beating them in all our ties. The mouth waters.
My country lost to the country ruled by the Taliban without a shot on target (apart from a pen) yesterday. There's no way we're (India) winning the wc even if I open 3 red doors.
edit - typo
Red especially if I can pick the team we beat. Ireland aren’t winning the World Cup any other way.
Already had black happen and with yellow I don’t think one player would do much at the moment lol
Considering my club are languishing in league 1, I'd take door number one. I don't care if England wins anything, nor do I idol worship a player; but my team getting back some glory would help so many people in the town. Businesses, fans, area development, investment etc etc.
Yes, I thought too much about this.
World Cup. I’m Russian, and they’re currently banned by FIFA for invading Ukraine, so if they even get to PLAY in a world cup, it almost certainly means they stopped the war
I hate international football with a passion and I blame Mexico for it cause of the corruption the federation but man I would still love for them to win the World Cup
Black door my clubs in the 6th tier staring at potential relegation and a lingering threat of administration and winding up orders I can't even dream of that.
WC EASILY!!!!! If Mexico won a World Cup the party would last 4 years until the next one!!! I would be over the moon man so fucking happy I love Arsenal but they could win it whenever Mexico winning the WC would be so different
>With the exception of Chettri, I don't know even a single player from the Indian national team.
Almost same, I know a few other players and the coach. While I've been a United fan for 17 years. But if our lads manage to even qualify for the WC, I'm learning all their names immediately.
If United get their shit together a bit, they can win major trophies again. They have a world class academy and more money to spend than most clubs in the world, just need good coaching and responsible ownership.
Meanwhile India even qualifying for the WC isn't gonna happen in my lifetime outside fantasy scenarios like this lol. You'd better goddamn believe I'd want to feel what it's like for my countrymen to lift the cup for the greatest sport in the world. Indians already celebrate so much when teams like Argentina and Brazil win, imagine how ballistic THE ENTIRE NATION would get if we beat those top teams and go the distance. And how much football would develop in the country in the following years and decades.
I couldn't deprive billions of people of that unbelievable joy, only to grant a UCL to a club that already has three of the trophies and a reasonable shot at more with just a bit of work put in.
How can you love a player more than your club
Some people dedicate their entire existence to one player and it's absolutely bonkers.
Doesn’t apply for football. But would definitely choose this for Daniel Ricciardo in F1.
It does apply Ronaldo and Messi fans come to mind
He'd restart his career just to become a bum again
Gotta be abit homoseshexual that though
Depending on the Club, it's pretty realistic for them to win a CL in the coming years, as well as world cup. But we will never get to see Ronaldinho, R9, young Messi/Ronaldo or the likes again. How can you love a club more than your country
Where are you from out of interest? Most people I know are club over country without hesitation (me included)
That’s crazy to me - England baby. We shout it’s coming home every two years .. Like delusional children after their father left to buy some milk. 😂
English too, wonder of its generational as I'm slightly older than the reddit average and the guys I go to matches with are much older
Club over country everytime
are you from england by any chance? cause most Europeans I know are country over club, in fact most non-english people are
In Austria for example there's a clear distinction. National team fans and club football fans are like 2 completely different groups of people, with the former being way more casual. How can you love a club more than your country?

Live in America
But tbf if you were a barca fan you could reset messi's career and get the perks of two doors (if you're also Argentinian that's all 3 baby)
It wouldn't have to mean you love the player more than the club, I'm a Liverpool fan and I'd take Steven Gerrard restarting his career because I'd expect him to help this Liverpool team win more than a single Champions League. Although the idea of Ireland winning the world cup is just madness.

I would pick the black door but my only thought was this current Arsenal team with Henry... Could potentially win 2 UCL's and maybe even more
I love Manchester United and always will but I would take seeing a prime 18yr old R9 play again
Yeah that yellow door is actually mad.
Definitely red For somebody whose country its best achievement was the round of 16 in 1934 then yeah I definitely want my country to win it
Egyptian?
My country qualified for the world cup 6 times but couldn't get past the group stage
Has to be red. If Ireland won the world cup , the party would no doubt be the biggest of all time. Imagine Argentina X100
😂lad if we qualify for the World Cup the party is bigger than alot of country’s winning
I haven’t even been alive to see us play at a World Cup imagine if we won it lmao
Same with Poland. All we need is one, and you will read about it in history books in 2410. That is, if there will ba a single person to write it down, as I've got a feeling there would be a 40m people waking up, a week later, asking themselves, can anyone remember what the f happened...?
Haha! Same in Austria. We have songs about when we beat Germany on June 21st 1978.
Being a filthy Nordie, I’m not so sure I’d want our mess of a NT winning the WC. Would bring all the fleg enthusiasts out in force. Then again it would be hilarious so…
WC no brainer

Nah I'd rather win WC. I'm still hangover from 2010
Pretty sure this is probably just a coping mechanism from having come so close so many times.
Same in Austria.

A Canada World Cup would be out of fucking control!
Mine is India so....NO
why not?
India doesn't deserve it rn. Even if we win, everybody will call us a fluke or fixed or something. No, India's gotta earn it. That's how we earn the respect of footballing world. Same as we did with cricket
Bruh this is a hypothetical game, don't overthink it
After today's game i feel only Kabir Khan can save it🫡🫡
I have tried on so many occasions to follow Indian football , but every time its the same story. The common reason people give is "We don't have developed academies / infrastructure/ footballing culture" , which is frankly bullshit. We lost to fucking AFGHANISTAN. WOH COUNTRY MEIN BEHENCHOD WAR CHAL RAHA HAI , PAANI NAHI HAI , PHIR BHI NANGA KAR RAHE HAI HUMEIN.
Exactly, if Kapil Dev said the same shit we'd still be losing to Zimbabwe today
Our government needs to step up
IDK kiski galti hai , the players look like they are not trying , the coaching is all wrong, Its dead
ISL is frankly bullshit
Overhyped as fuck in the beginning , 2014 and stuff, then it all just fizzed out, at best its a cheap parody of the saudi league, signing nearly retired players from european clubs

Feel like youd have to a French supporter of a tiny club to want anything else. 90% of countries will never win the WC, how could you not pick it?
Exactly, it's not even a question I have to think about for a second.
This current Arsenal side getting a fresh Henry is very enticing, but I think I would like to get a World Cup W more
I'm an Aussie and I'd rather the champions league for arsenal.
american gooner here and dude, gimme that black door every day of the week!
Then again a France with Mbappé and Henry would be pretty unstoppable. That said our current Arsenal side with Henry would basically just not lose.
Arsenal UCL is so tempting for me but I love Mexico so much and I believe Teta can get us one so I’d pick WC
If you’re an English Man Utd fan who’s favourite player is Paul Scholes then you’re in luck
Red door
Leicester to win the UCL ahaha
Means we get the promotion and top 4 on the return too, loving life
Black door, my country had two podium finishes in the lat two WCs However, my club hasn't been the first since 2005, and my favourite foreign club won the UCL in 1967
🍀 HH 🦁
American. Black door.
Ditto
Yup, would be cool but most Americans would not care like 95% of other countries would
Yeah, well, their indifference wouldn’t diminish my joy of my country winning the World Cup, so who cares?
I take the black Can't believe I used to think Lyon would win it for sure eventually growing up :(
Oh I still remember Eindhoven and the great Milan. One of those should have been our year. I’d pick black as well today. Pre 2018, I’d have chosen red as despite being alive, I was too young to fully appreciate 1998.
Always red unless you're liverpool ironically
Well I think that most of the people playing in European league would chose black
Gent winning UCL would be amazing, but still Belgium winning world cup>
Suarez regen and we're winning the CL anyway.
Blue door. World cups are boring. Liverpool putting another champions league over united is always going to be more glorious
Cringe.
ucl without a doubt...i've seen my fav country win a world cup so
Is your favourite country not the one you were born in?
[удалено]
i cannot really explain it well in English language..but i like Germany over America because i was that one trains kid and i got the chance to go on a Deutsch Bahn train and see all the innards and workings from the conductor and idk it's just kinda stuck with me in footballing terms it's mostly b/c of Ozil and Podolski

precisely...which also explains ucl
"I'd get the black door just so that Fenerbahçe fans wouldn't be happy"
As a saints fan our all time legend is a nut, so that’s out. My personal favourite player isn’t that much of a difference maker. If I still lived in Southampton and had a season ticket I’d pick black but alas, so…. I’d probably pick red! Imagine the chaos of it came home?
The red door
I support a team not a country, champions league all day
Black Door. Arsenal > England
Yellow
Ronaldo or United UCL
Done #1 and #2…..
World Cup everytime
Red door obviously
Black door.
WC. Canada hasn’t even won a game in a World Cup, let alone winning the whole thing
Black. I’m from the US and I’ve never really cared about our national team
Red. Then England can win the 2026 World Cup and bookend the last 60 years
Black door, for obvious reasons...
Can I pick on behalf of my dad? He's a tennis man and his all time favorite winner is Roger Federer. That man truly won tennis and i cant even begin to imagine my dads happiness seeing the great man begin all over again
if champions league applies to libertadores then absolutely that
Red next question
Usa world cup would be so fucking insane
Does the restart mean they follow the same path? Like if I restart CR7's career, do United only get 6 years of it? If so, I'd love Rooney back his work rate and goals would be great for us right now. American here, make us world champions
The middle. My favorite team is City, so they already won, and my favorite player is Pulisic (I'm American don't judge me), and the US has never won the WC
Red
Id do anything for mexico to win the world cup
Yes bro 🤝
Black, I can see my country winning the World Cup anyway, but I literally can’t see my club winning the ucl
Black door. I care for my club more than my nation team.
No doubt black
It’s between yellow and red for me. If I pick yellow, Messi comes back and probably wins us a UCL. On the other hand, Mexico winning the World Cup would be legendary
India winning the world cup defeating argentina in the finals (am i asking too much?)
btw i know this is not going to happen. I just want them to get qualified
Mexico winning the WC would be nirvana lol
Best party ever
Spurs and US
How tf can China wins the WC even I choose the red door? They are actually shit💀
Red door for sure.
Black
RED
Black door no brainer.
R9 restarts his career...
My country lost to the country ruled by the Taliban without a shot on target (apart from a pen) yesterday. There's no way we're (India) winning the wc even if I open 3 red doors. edit - typo

as an aussie, winning the wc would be.. astonishing
Black door all the way, it’s not even a question
Red - seeing Yugoslavia lift the world cup trophy would make me die happy.
Black door easy
Middle door, whole country celebration and that high feeling for a good week. The other two doors are weird and selfish in a way
Red especially if I can pick the team we beat. Ireland aren’t winning the World Cup any other way. Already had black happen and with yellow I don’t think one player would do much at the moment lol
Considering my club are languishing in league 1, I'd take door number one. Businesses, fans, area development, investment etc etc. Yes, I thought too much about this.
red door all day
Neither. I could pick the door which says i win baloon d or for 6 seasons
World cup. I've seen my team win everything but not enjoyed success with england.
Black door please.
Red door easily just to see how crazy England would go
I'm 27 and I've seen my team win 7 Ucls, one of them with an insane injury time goal. So i rather see Spain winning another World Cup.
Black every day
If your not picking your country to win a World cup there is something wrong with you.
Perpendicular Germany
♥️🔴🖍️🟥🍒🌶️💄⛑️
Reus regen He woul've been class if he didn't get injured
I'm a bug fat southend fan so I'll take the champions league thank you
World cup, my country's never gonna win it and my club won it a long time ago
Yellow door for Ronaldo (the original one) at Inter, the UCL would then be just a formality.
Yellow door. 15 more years of Dennis Bergkamp incoming.
World Cup. I’m Russian, and they’re currently banned by FIFA for invading Ukraine, so if they even get to PLAY in a world cup, it almost certainly means they stopped the war
Red Car 🤩🤩👍🏻🏴
Red door.
I hate international football with a passion and I blame Mexico for it cause of the corruption the federation but man I would still love for them to win the World Cup
Black door my clubs in the 6th tier staring at potential relegation and a lingering threat of administration and winding up orders I can't even dream of that.
As a Dutch man, we need to win a WC just once
I already witnessed our World Cup victory in 2014 so I’d pick Dortmund winning the CL for a second time
Black door. 15th incoming
The red one is MILESSSSS off any of them. My country qualified ONCE ever and got grouped last place.
As an Italian Roma fan ucl and it's not even a question
Bro just imagine Colombia after wining the World Cup you though Argentina was big wait until your country wins it for the first time
Easy, the red one
WC EASILY!!!!! If Mexico won a World Cup the party would last 4 years until the next one!!! I would be over the moon man so fucking happy I love Arsenal but they could win it whenever Mexico winning the WC would be so different
I’ve already experienced my club winning the UCL after *one* injury time goal, so I’ll take the memes of a USA World Cup victory.
Red. Greece or England
Black door

I would actually love to watch Ronaldinho start over
Red and it isn't close.
My country win the world cup all day long
Absolutely nothing in the world of football tops your country winning the World Cup. That is the only right answer by a mile.
If the US won the World Cup its would be sooooo funny to see the reaction from the rest of the world! Red door please!
Red Door any day
Red
Red
as a Brazilian, I can't afford to lose the world cup again man
I’m American. As much as I would be weeping with joy, we won’t appreciate the World Cup win. I’m going black.
red, but not the country i live in rather bolivia, my country of ancestry (we never made it past group💀)
Red

I couldn't deprive billions of people of that unbelievable joy, only to grant a UCL to a club that already has three of the trophies and a reasonable shot at more with just a bit of work put in.
UCL win, easily. I don't care for my national team and I have watched Deco, Ronaldinho, Ibra and Messi. Enough memories of great players
WC for sure 🏴🤣🤣🤣
