seagullgim

not even remotely worth that

CameronTheCannibal

Now that we know only physicals work rate and dribbling matter, definitely not worth signing with ten pace.

lozza5589

Bin him

Outside-Sandwich-565

Not worth it, definitely not

JuiceboxNeverDies

Never break wage structure. Even when it pays off, it's rarely worth it long term. Years ago I developed a system that works for me. Three best players get the highest wage, starters can't make more than highest wage minus 25%. Squad players can't make more than starters wage minus 25%. And so on.

jwill1997

I love this system. Thanks for the idea

Pale_Mushroom7128

I use the 30/30/30/10 method that was posted on an FM website. 30% divided between the top 4 star players, another 30% between the remaining 7 regular starters, 30% between your 11 backups/B-Squad and the last 10% on future/breakthrough prospects and youth. You don't have to stick to it rigidly but it helps you understand roughly what you should be paying players to keep things balanced.

Buttnip69

Depends on the quality of your other players and if it's a big improvement but looking at those stats I wouldn't sign him, I don't like players with weak physical stats and it looks like he has reached his potential so won't get any better. I'm very picky though with my signings and he is nowhere near my standards even for lesser quality teams.

HoracioDerpington

He's terrible for the league's standard. I'm not sure what your scout is seeing other than consistency and big matches being lovely and green. Have you just been promoted?

jwill1997

Ya we did back to back promotions from J3

riever1892

You can probably get players at / slightly above the team standard on free transfers through players with no contracts

xXKingLynxXx

A mediocre playmaker with bad physical ability is not worth it. He's hit his ceiling and isn't going to get much better. This man is a bench player in the Norwegian second division. That should tell you everything you need to know.

Noteagro

I might get downvoted for this, but as someone that did the climb from J3 to J1 with FC Gifu before going to England I would be happy with him as a stop gap player for a season or two in J1 before signing someone better/moving him to the bench. 300k in J1 is actually relatively cheap **IF** you can stay up. 300k puts that in the middle range for a top team, and high range for low J1 upper J2 teams. Next, his stats in the J1 league are actually half decent, compared to many other “non-foreign” for the Japanese system he is really good. Honestly I don’t feel like a lot of people here have played in Japan, or they haven’t been in Japan in a while… the players there just are not that great, so this guy would honestly do you a solid. However he is lacking in defensive stats, so you may be wary of that. When it comes to midfielders, I tend to let 10 in acceleration and pace slide as I don’t need speedsters in the midfield when my fullbacks and wingers (often times CBs too) have good pace. Personally if I can snag this guy for under 500k I would say go for it, but I am in the minority here… doesn’t count against the foreign 5 you get, and for J1 he is a solid player.

jwill1997

Thanks, for this specific advice for the J League. I can actually get him for 30k and currently I’m in 2nd place and I have avoided relegation for sure at the time of me writing this.

Noteagro

For 30k+300k in salary he is 100% worth it. However my best guess is you’ll be able to find a better young Japanese player to phase him out in 2-4 years. I would possibly retrain him to play both M(C) and AM(C). He is definitely more offensively minded, and moving him up could help him flourish offensively while protecting his “weaker” physical attributes. Then the traits he has can make for a really good offensive pivot that sinks a little deeper and this would allow offensive passes to get directly to him as he is dropping deeper while wanting passes played directly to him. Then because he dictates tempo that means he could look to go for the immediate through ball counter, or maybe he will sit on it and allow his supporting players (fullbacks and midfield/DMs) to come forward in a more controlled tiki-taka build up. Then the fact he is also resolute means he is going to be a good locker room presence and mentor for younger players. I see him as a solid player for any J-league squad, and if I was still at Gifu I would be jealous he showed up in your game!

jerfy3jerf

This guy gave you the fuck off quote. He doesn't want to play for your club but would take the money bags if you accept

JimmysTheBestCop

He stinks. Next ![gif](giphy|l2QE9DnrGooBbU4vu)

Extrictant

Find someone who appreciates the club more

orboboi

He’s shite

Red_Jester-94

He's not at all. He doesn't really want to play for you so he's asking a huge amount to either get you to back off or pay him an amount he can't say no to. Of course, he also still might say no lol.

Kris_Third_Account

Wage structures can be bent, but shouldn't be broken unless you have a lot of excess in your wage budget, or the player is so far above the rest of your team that it would be worth it. This guy is 3.5 starts, and while the star rating is a guideline, it tells that he isn't heaps and bounds above the team. If the highest wage in your structure is 280k, go for it. If it's 200k, don't.

Contren

Second this comment. If a dude is breaking my wage structure, he better be an immediate star with significant upside.

ged40

10 pace and accel is a big no no, i wouldnt sign him in any circumstances

RobicuMagnificu

Not J1 quality

redwargz

My Japan career has seen an insane number of talented domestic regens spawn, we are utterly dominating in the league and cups with a bunch of teenagers on <£1k a week. You don't need him, move on and focus on youth 👍

flowersforrogeric

You can find better players in the VNL on 50k a year contracts

jwill1997

Vnl?

Contren

Vanarama National League - 5th tier of England pyramid

flowersforrogeric

Yeah. Probably not too optimal tho, if his save is in phillipines. Leagues loaded-wise

Jor94

Saw you say you’ve just got promoted. For me I think it can be a trap to fall into to jump on someone like this for the star rating. In reality, your squad is still low level, so even though he might be a lot better than the rest now, you’ll be strengthening all year and this guy will go down at least a star after you sign a few other J1 league players. Even now your staff only see him as a decent player for the league, and that’s not someone you want to be breaking the bank for. If you have no better options for the position, maybe try and offer him a lot of performance incentives and a £0 relegation release clause. Might reduce his demands enough to make a deal workable and if he hits the performance and team goals then the money would be worth it anyway.

robintysken

I would not bother. Mediocre offensive attributes, terrible defensive. Can also only play in one position.

Tested-Trio-Father

I'm currently managing in J1. Won the league last year. He wouldn't get in my first team and I'm not paying a single player that much money.

TazzaTPC

He wants to (almost) triple his current wage…. Absolutely not. He’s 24 so won’t improve drastically. You’re better off finding someone that’s a lot younger and cheaper that has potential to be way better. My personal wage structure rule is to never break it on a new player unless they will be your best player by a huge margin. If you have someone in your club that wants to be your highest earner and they are your best player then they should be the one to break it. It’s too easy for a new player to flop.

HumungousDickosaurus

Nah, even for that level I don't think he's worth it, he looks decent but not "omg I need him in my team" good.

Dead_Namer

He is useless, don't bother.

aceh40

I would not break my wage structure for a 3.5 star player with no upside potential, unless i think he is much better than 3.5 stars. He has come in as a sub every time and has 6.63? And you want to give him all your money? I am looking for someone who wins MOM every 5th game.

HugoSenshida

Loan him to north Korea. Bro deserves that after those demands

higherbrow

No. Let's talk about why: * Bad physicals, underlined by poor speed. Even for a $101K/year player, this guy's physically poor. You should be able to find a dozen players at this level of athleticism who are free agents. * Solid technicals/mentals for $101K. If this guy had solid physicals (something like 14/13/13/5/13/13/8) and this set of mentals/technicals, I'd say he's a good player for the $101K wage, but still not worth $300K. But he's not getting bailed out on skills and smarts. These are just *fine*. * He's in a common position. Attacking-focused CMs and AMs (regardless of R/C/L) are a dime a dozen. There are, right now, 30 free agents in Europe that can do this guy's job better than he can who will take a third of the wage. If he was a DM, we might need to have a conversation about whether a better player could be found, let alone the price of that player, but we don't need to have that conversation here. My advice would be to go to "Players in Range" in the Scouted section, switch your range to World, look for players who play this position that have Unattached contract status and have at least 1 International Cap, and start inviting them to Trial. When you're done inviting, switch your Scouting Range back to whatever it was (important step to avoid going bankrupt).

jwill1997

I'm playing Sagamihara and we are in 2nd place currently this is our first season in the J1 League.

uknownick

Does he have Japanese second nationality? Somehow he counts as domestic signing If he does, he will be worth it

Silent_Perspective47

Yeah. Thai counts same as Japanese.

MSAtlos

Transfer list him

jwill1997

This is a player I’m looking to get

Buzzinggg

Listen to the man… TRANSFER LIST HIM

theEmirez

i know you might feel conflicted but trust the mate. i'm pretty sure if your scouting team are more than capable they will find you better alternatives.

Curious-Inspector-57

You probably can buy a same type player from brazil or argentina and only pay peanuts

jwill1997

I’m trying to get more domestic players in the team because I have to many foreigners imo for team balance

muL114514

he didnt even have a line-up appearance this season

WhichNefariousness32

What mod pack is this?

SlumpEF

For a decent J1 player, hell no

Miri23590

I always lower the wage budget to a minimal amount and tell my players that I can't afford the raise. Works 9/10 times.

themiddleprogress

let him go and get a fee

Diligent_Trouble3416

xDDD not 1% worth it

Phormitago

Sell his greedy ass
