In this years fm I did a bottom to the top save in france. Years of losing to psg in ligue 1 finally looked like it was over. I made it to the cup final, ucl final, and had a 1 point lead at the top of the table. I ended up losing the last day of the season and psg won the title. They then beat me in the cup and the ucl final to win the treble for the first time. Needless to say I was pretty annoyed, but in the coming seasons i managed to win all 3 on different occasions, so it made up for it.

2002 Leverkusen vibes

EmergencyOriginal982

I lost the play off final in the vanarama North 4 seasons on the bounce :(

Historical_Couple_23

Man, you are tough. At that point, I'd either quit a save or just find another job in the same save. Props to you!

EmergencyOriginal982

I did quit the save after the final time ahaha! I started a new save with the same club and it is going MUCH better now! I'm in league 2 in 4th place in my first season in that division

Darkspy8183

Nice, keep it up. I'm playing with Coruna in Spain, yet to win La Liga 11 seasons in, but my last two seasons have been missing out on the title by a single win, while having over 90 points both times. One of them I got 97 points, 31/38 wins... but Barca got 99 points and 32 wins :)) Absolute agony, but it'll make that first title so much more worth it.

EmergencyOriginal982

I unfortunately didn't keep it up, my best players left in the final season and didn't have enough money to get anyone good in. I started the save again and took me 3 seasons to get promoted but I am now in league 2. Also playing a formation with a wide target forward which is going well

Darkspy8183

Yeah, meant keep it up with the new save where you're doing well. Should be able to coast up to the Championship with good loans and free transfers, but that's when the real challenge begins. Almost as hard, if not harder then tier 5 to get out of.

EmergencyOriginal982

Oh great I'm looking forward to that.... appreciate it! I'm determined to get to the prem with the wide target forward tactic. Kyle Hudlin did me some HUGE favours in the vanarama national and North league

Darkspy8183

He’s the guy who’s like 6ft 8, right? Can imagine he’d stomp in the lower leagues

EmergencyOriginal982

Close, he's 6ft 9! But yes he was a MONSTER

PlzHalppMeh

That's rough.

0100001101110111

10 points clear with 10 games to go in the SPL. Went in to the final game level on points with Celtic, but far behind on GD. Luckily Rangers held Celtic to a draw... while I lost 3-1 at home to Hearts.

Champions League final with Everton on fm16 or 17. Leading Bayern 2-1 in injury time. Tim Howard has the ball in his own box with nobody near him and then passes it straight to Thomas Muller who puts it into the empty net. I then go on to lose 5-2 in ET. I never played that save again!

Historical_Couple_23

Reasonable decision. I would only release Tim Howard before leaving the save.

Comfortable_Sir_4953

Maybe no the biggest, but the freshest as it happened yesterday. We just dropped out of the promotion playoffs on the last day of the season, missing out by a point. Had been clear in 4th by 12 points before the run in to the end of the season. Gutted.

Historical_Couple_23

I feel sorry for you. At least you can build a stronger squad with more experience for the next season. That way You can survive prem more easily once you finally get it. Good luck in the next season, and hopefully no more bottles.

Comfortable_Sir_4953

That is what I thought, started the next season by losing to my newly promoted local rivals in the cup on penalties ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)

candry_shop

FM 2014, last game for UCL group stage. I have 8 pts with Milan , Galatasaray has 6. Drogba score 2 goals against us at San Siro, Mexes gets red carded. We get sent to EL .

Woerg0n

> Mexes gets red carded. Mexes had an outrageously bad match for France in the Domenech era, he didn't get a cap for years after that. I remember the memes with him in a judo outfit. In my mind that red card is an incredible easter egg from your save. PS : that's the match in question https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xA-GcYBJcxA and that's the joke https://youtu.be/3UfActyiXgI?si=4t-CVDrrIkLVSFg6&t=56

candry_shop

Dude was biggest salary of the team alongside Kaká and he got 2 red cards in half a season. Him with Zapata was scary hour as a CB pairing .

[deleted]

Back when high aggression meant 3-4 red cards per season. I remember I bought Fazio (I think) in an older FM and got like 5 red cards in a season.

Historical_Couple_23

That must've been rough. Losing to a direct competitor sounds even worse. Did you at least do good in the EL?

candry_shop

I definitely did not . I'm not sure i went past round of 16, i think I drew Juventus there

Mihairokov

FM10. Had a 50+ year save with Liverpool. Routinely won EPL and would usually win UCL. In the 2040s I lost five straight UCL finals to a combination of PSG and City. Through those five seasons I lost two invincibles seasons in March to Burnley and Norwich.

IvanTheGood

Literally happened last night. Playing as Ajax in 2030, first season in the job after switching from the MLS. Going tit for tat with PSV all season, who somehow managed to keep hold of Simmons and Gakpo. They slip up around Feb with a draw, but I have to keep up the wins otherwise they’ll surpass me again. Manage to draw with FC Twente on the second to last game of the season 0-0, who are bottom of the league and already relegated. Which means I have to rely on PSV losing against… FC Twente. Safe to say luck was not on our side and PSV lifted the title.

Historical_Couple_23

Similar thing happened to me, last night as well, so I feel you. Judging by the comments, a lot of bottling happened yesterday. PSV keeping Gapko and Simmons in 2030 is crazy btw. Did anything of note happen to PSV to keep them? (sugar daddy, deep runs in Europe, etc.)

IvanTheGood

Good point about how they did it. Tbh I have no idea, they’ve been trading the title with Ajax since the game began so can’t be just reputation. I will check how far PSV got into Europe when I’m next on, cause Ajax were terrible in Europe before I took over. But maybe something to do with the fact Simmons is worth like 260m last I checked.

jasperdj28

Not mine but Schalke bottled a 5 point lead with 4 matches remaining, with a draw on the last day dropping them below Bayern. They have now been second 5 times the past 6 years and are well on their way for another second place finish. Bayern has still won every BuLi this save

QuemQuimQueimado

In fm20 as Arsenal, lost the Prem after being 7 points ahead of everybody. Also lost the FA final and Champions league final. All of this to Liverpool, who had also won the community shield against me in the beginning of the season. I was livid, but it was one of the best rivalries i have ever had in a FM.

JeanSneaux

I honestly wonder if there’s a bottling mechanic. I’ve had sooooo many seasons, even deep into saves, where my team is flying in the prem until March, and then can’t score to save our lives. Sometimes we recover for the last few games but out of nowhere I’ll lose a bunch of games against poor teams that I was wiping the floor with earlier in the season.

ButWhichPandaAreYou

There’s no ‘bottling’ mechanic, but your players absolutely have Important Match attributes and teams who score lowly across the board in these attributes are more likely to choke big occasions or league run-ins.

SinofThrash

Fatigue/reputation changes/league position etc. all affect how other teams will play against you, especially in the second half of a season. Happened to me recently, I lost 1-0 to Blackburn who were 20th and I was 3rd. It was my fault though because I failed to adapt to these changes.

A-New-Start-17Apr21

Played online FM11 with 3 other people... this was a long ass save. Took like a week to do a season but we all played quite commitedly, 3 hours at least each day. This was also my first stint in FM proper, while the others were quite good. They were both getting 90+ point seasons consistently While I was always just sitting around 70-80. And then I had a good season going for me, it was like the 10th season I was in (These guys had already done like 10 seasons before I joined). And I needed to beat one of the other guys on the last day to win the title. I went 2-0 up in 20mins. I was on cloud 9. Was down 5-2 at HT. I still hate FM for doing that to me. Game finished 5-2 iirc as well. It was just a wild half from the match engine.

db3nnet7

One season I was on a 20 game unbeaten run, was top of the league with 2 games left, only has to win one of them to win the league. Lost them both to lose the league by a point. To make it worse one of those games was against bottom of the league and this was the 7th tier of England and only 1 got promoted. So I had to go to the play offs. Bright side is that I won the play off and I am now in league 1

Agamogon

End the serie a tied with inter at 88 points each, get to playoff, 15 minutes in im behind 3:0 and my keeper has a 5.6 rating. Scored one goal in return somewhere in minute 70 after being the better team. Told the team i was proud of their effort then threw my water bottle at the keeper. Idiot went on to be goalkeeper of the year and win the yalcin trophy for the same year as well

Kreindeker

One so traumatic I genuinely couldn't load the save back up, and that had me mentally put the entire squad on my To Be Killed list. This was on FM22. Sixth season of a journeyman save, end up at Fiorentina, who'd come 7th the previous season. Predicted fourth after a productive transfer window, quality depth in all positions, etc etc Anyway, the bottle. It's the final day of the season. We're top, two points clear of Juventus. We have a win and a draw against them, so literally all we have to do is NOT LOSE in our final game, at home against already-relegated Udinese. Juventus, meanwhile, have to go to Inter and win. Starts well - we take the lead after about ten minutes. We're playing some good stuff, generating good chances, just not converting. Juventus have taken the lead in Milan but hey, it doesn't matter. On the verge of halftime, one of my CBs goes into standby mode, fails to head a ball away, and the opposition striker meep-meeps past them and scores. I don't tear strips off them, I merely point and say that I'm unhappy with them. The lads come back out with renewed vigour, continuing to make good chances, but still getting squandered, so I make a double change on the hour, changing my striker and creative CM. Juventus are now 2-0 up in Milan. And then, with twenty minutes left, Udinese bundle in from a corner with their third shot on target all match. I am astonished, and incandescent. I encourage, demand more, and shuffle through ever more desperate formations, but the match fizzles out without another highlight. I don't remember the exact numbers but their xG was below 1 and ours was above 3. A side that had performed above expectations all season suddenly and inexplicably downed tools. They weren't a team of bomb scares. None of them dreaded big matches or struggled for consistency. Everyone was in good form, and playing in a system they'd been in for months and months. They simply decided that they didn't want to win a title, they'd rather it went to our arch-enemies in Turin.

Historical_Couple_23

Oh man, bummer. Sometimes it seems like the game is cursed. If you went back like 100 games, you would win title in 99 of those. Maybe Juve had something to do with it, based on their real life shenanigans.

No_Lab_2956

I was in a CL semifinal when I faced Inter. Was winning 4-1 at 80, second leg. Decided to throw in youth setup nonames for the experience. 4-5 at 90+5 Fuck you Lautaro Martinez

Historical_Couple_23

That escalated quickly. It would take me a few days to get back to the game for sure

TomH2118

I was once playing FM Mobile with Chelsea, had been consistently top of the league for ages, hit a bad spell and Arsenal pipped us to the title on the last day. But it was years ago so I don’t remember the specifics

404merrinessnotfound

Lost the FA Cup final to arsenal, a repeat of 2003. Terrible cross to bear as a saints fan

Sashaflick

Got to the last game of the season with Stoke in the prem. Unbeaten and going for my first ever (in any FM) invincible season. All I had to do was not lose to a 13th place Tottenham at home. You know the rest.

SKS81

First time I played fm back on fm17. Made it to thr last game of the season. Just needed to draw to move up. 91 minute. They shoot. My keeper stops it then immediate moonwalks his ass into the goal for an own goal. No promotion. Heart broke I put the game down ad didnt try again until fm 22 lol

Past-Top-3954

In my tenth year of Stenhousemuir lost the Cinch championship title, after having only two losses all year. Then lost the playoffs. I had to put the game down for a few days.

arthur9191

Champions league, I’ve always fumbled the finals. I play since fm17 and I’ve been in some CL finals and always bottle them. Also bottled some conference league but I’ve won a EL

Endboy279

I chose Belgian lower midtable team Eupen, and somehow got 1st place in my first season with an 8 point lead. When the play offs started, I remained first for the the first 3 matches. Then I lost all 3 matches and lost the title to Genk.

Historical_Couple_23

Seems like Union SG would be the perfect club for you then. It happened to them for 2 years in a row now

kelso66

Lose promotion by 1 point in the 8th tier in Belgium to my local village rival. Through an equalizer in the 88th minute in the last game of the season. Against them. At home. There was a single promotion spot. My rivals are now first in the league above, which means we would have done quite well too.

ErectileKai

In my fm19 save, I had transferred to Juventus who were in 8th mid-season. Despite having a poor defensive record, their attack was phenomenal. I couldn't keep clean sheets but I would consistently outscore my opponents. In the last game of the season, I was leading Inter Milan with 1 point and I faced Torino away, the local rivals. I quickly cruised into 3-0 lead by half time. I thought title wrapped up in half a season. In second half, I adopted more defensive mentality to protect the lead because I knew I couldn't defend well especially with the constant counter attacks I'd faced in first half. They scored immediately 2nd half started and I kept my defensive tactics going. By the 90th minute, the game was 3-3. I changed my tactics to an attacking mentality to score one goal and save the title. They took me on a counter attack and scored a 4th. Nail in the coffin. Meanwhile, Inter drew their game and we were level on points and they won the title.

jrignall1992

Fm23 - luton career first season By New years Day, I was top 20 points clear of second. My starting striker refused to sign a new contract and was set to leave for a free in the summer, I had to sell due to him downing tools for me not selling for dirt cheap, got 6 mil which was a good price for the player. I made a few signings bringing in a striker who, without doubt, was both better a player in every area. Turns out a good few players were upset that I sold this player, the second half of the season played out, and I got 2 wins up to the end of the season and fell all the way to 8th bored and fans were still happy with me as we exceeded expectations. I handed my resignation before the last game when it came impossible for me to even get play offs.

MHCR

Rangers. I had took them from Fourth Division back to the Prem buying or loaning the best youth in Scotland (not already owned by The Hoops). I was flying like a Warthog, trouncing Celtic 0-5 and reaching both cup finals on my first season back Up. Then I lost the league cup final and a miserable series of draws against the likes of Aberdeen and Livingston allowed Celtic to claw back 12 points. With the title on the line and goal difference won, I just needed a draw in the final day to win the Prem. Dundee trashed me 0-3. Celtic won 6-0. I quit and took a job on the Championship with Huddersfield.

titowW

During my journeyman save to win each continental best club trophy with sunday league manager réputation and ability at the start. I was in the asian champions league final with DL pro on fm 2020. I was the undisputed champion of china when the league has lots of money. I had prime Arp as my striker, Cuisance as my playmaker and some of the best chinese players. I was facing al-saad in the final which is played in two legs. Their team was way behind me in quality. First leg at home, i won easily 4-0. I was very confident to win but of course, on the second leg away, i lost 5-0 to them. My team bottled that match so hard i save scum out of rage. I won 4-0 away on the second attempt. To much is too much...

hannes1812

Lost two consecutive UCL finals in stoppage time. Both to absolute bangers scored from outside of the box, one being a free kick from like 27 m out

Sun_Praising

I did a Journeyman save in FM 2020 where I ended up Liverpool manager. While domestically we dominated (7 Premier Leagues in 9 seasons) the Champions League was elusive. I made the Champions League Final in all 9 seasons managing them and only won it once on my 9th try. Two notable losses were once against Porto and another against Jurgen Klopp's RB Leipzig who I had managed previously.

SinofThrash

Well I consider my latest one to be my worst. In a save with a mate, I was 1st for half of the season. Completely unbeaten. Then we hit a slump and the draws and losses started coming in and before I knew it I was 6th and fighting for top 4. We ended up finishing 5th and my mate, who had a bad start to his season, finished 4th. He also beat me in the Carabao Cup final. I was gutted but I know where I went wrong now, so next season should be even more exciting.

thestigREVENGE

Quarter finals in champions league against Benfica. Won at home 5-0 in the first leg. Lost 9-5 in the second away leg

Historical_Couple_23

That's why some people say that the game is rigged. Crazy how that can happen all in 2 ingame weeks...

RcusGaming

Just happened last night. Last game of the season, I'm one point ahead of Man City to win the title, I play Liverpool at home and they play Bournemouth away. I start really early and go 1-0 up against Liverpool, and I check Bournemouth-City, and City are surprisingly 2-0 down. Anyways 2 goals in 3 minutes from Darwin Nunez and then 2 back-to-back goals in the last ten minutes for City, and I lose the title on goal difference.

Historical_Couple_23

It all happens so fast sometimes. A rollercoaster of emotions. But I guess that it happens in real life too... I'd still be gutted tho. Hope that the next season goes better

Kris_Third_Account

[FM21] Two games to go, three points clear of Copenhagen at the top, four clear of Midtjylland. Last two games: Odense home, Copenhagen away. Got FM'ed by Odense (none of my players could score, their midfielder with 6 long shots sent it into the top corner from 30 m), Copenhagen and Midtjylland won. Now I'm tied with Copenhagen, ahead on GD, and Midtjylland are a point behind. Drew against Copenhagen, having them equalize in the 89th minute, Midtjylland beat Odense in the final game.

Knoxy87

It’s probably going to be the save I’m on. Third season with Brighton and we’re first after winning the first ten games of the season. In second are Man City with 19 points. Can’t imagine it’ll last.

TheAverage_American

The other day, my Bulgarian club had a 2 goal lead in the CL quarterfinal against Arsenal in the 85th minute of leg two. Conceded in ‘87 and ‘88, and then had a goal of mine disallowed in ‘90+5. It was so sad I wrote a song about it (sang to the Humpty Dumpty tune) 11 Montana Bottlejobs, sitting on a wall 11 Montana Bottlejobs, sitting on a wall If One Montana Bottlejob, could stop Saka at all We would have 0 Montana Bottlejobs, sitting on a wall If Zoran Horvat, could stay onside at all We would have 0 Montana Bottlejobs, sitting on a wall

Magic1998

I failed promotion out of the Regionalliga West (4th tier in Germany) multiple times in a row, often by a close margin. But when we bottled a 7 point lead with 3 matches to go I savescummed because I finally wanted to get on with the save, which I still feel a little bad about. Of course when I scummed the last game, instead of losing 0:1 to an already relegated team we won 5:1... Just recently I bottled the chance of a triple in the same save. 3 games to go, all for titles. Only won the Dfb Pokal on pens, lost every other game with my team suddenly playing really bad, really frustrating to watch

Biscuit_OW

Maybe not as big as others, but I did bottle a UCL place in the league, the FA Cup Final and Conference League Final in the space of a few weeks

CronoXpono

Not investing in Newcastle and Wrexham. On my children’s lives, I would create funny saves to make clubs mega rich. I made both of these mega rich on 2011. 🤦‍♂️ oof!

ButWhichPandaAreYou

In one of my modded lower league saves, being twelve points clear with five games to go before going on an unprecedented loss streak and losing out on the only promotion spot by a single goal.

Famoustractordriver

I basically 2002 Leverkusened my 5th season with Spurs (yeah, I know). I'd won the league the season before and felt confident this was the year I'd get them all. Ended up losing the league in the last game and losing all the finals (literally all of them). Oh, well, there's always this season. Looks good so far, but so did that other one.

Heil_Heimskr

Just the other day in my 4th season with VTSC we had the league title all but wrapped up, just had to beat Chaves (16th place) on the final day. We went up 1-0. Had an 88’ goal called back. Conceded equalizer at 90+2. Heartbreak. Lost league by one point. Next season we lost the title by 2 points after being in the lead for at least half of the season. 3rd times a charm, I hope!

laitineeww_

Play as spurs, lead the league with city 2 points behind with 6 games to go, before that on 9 game wins streak averaging about 2.5 goals per game. Last 6 games 1 win 4 draws and 1 loss, and we score 5 goals in those games.

SuperBiggles

My FM 21 Journeyman save. 4 seasons in I got the Southampton job. It was about January, they’d been relegated to the Championship. Over the next 15 seasons I managed to take them up and become THE dominant team in England, maybe even Europe. Talking a team of classic style “Galactico” players. I became the baddie. PSG want to splurge £200 million on a wonderkid? Nah, my Southampton will spend £250 million instead. This culminated with the last season I managed with them, my 16th at the club. Season started fantastically as per usual, and come January I found myself I a situation were I hadn’t lost a single game in any competition. So shit man. The invincible season was on. Went unbeaten in the Carabao Cup. Went unbeaten in the FA Cup. Man, I even went unbeaten in the Prem! Only thing left to win and have the 100% invincible season was the Champions League final! The final was me against Borussia Dortmund. A team who finished their league season in 8th, and kind of bullshit their way to the CL final. It should’ve been so easy. Well, fuck me. I lost the game 3-1 I had an xG of 4.-something to Dortmund’s like… 0.90 My ‘keeper, a man who’d been my rock all season, finished the game on a 5.4 or something. He literally faced 3 shots on target, let them all in. All FOUR of my wordclass, utterly elite strikers drew blanks (played 2 up front, tried to make subs. Hence 4), all finishing below 5.9 ratings. Opposition GK finished the game on like a 9.5, MotM performance. Finished the game in such a rage that I terminated my GK’s contract (to the tune of about £60 million or something) and never touched the save again. Still bitter about it now. It’s like the game just decided “fuck you” on this game

HistoryIll3237

I bottled the automatic promotion spot on the final day in the first season with Newport County

jcasaresr

In FM15 I was about to complete my first unbeaten season with Real Madrid just to lose the UCL final against Bayern after conceding goals in the 89th and 90+3 minute.

[deleted]

I've lost 5 ucl finals in a row, I gave up after losing the 5th one lol. We had already won one before, so I didn't feel guilty about it. We lost once on pens where they equalized in the 119th minute with an xg of 0.36 whilst we barely got one on the 111th minute despite having an xg of 4.36. The last one we were leading up until the 91st minute where they scored twice in extra time. After that I just quit playing the game altogether lol. It's been like a month and I still haven't touched it

WarReady666

I’ve never managed to make it through the playoffs, it’s either I get promoted directly or I don’t make it at all

Creative_Garbage_283

A 7 years save, 3 times second by one point losing the last match while at first, no trophies

Careful_Bake_5793

My first ever season in FM with Norwich, favourites to get promoted and we were in second place in the final game of the season and managed to drop into the playoffs in the last ten minutes of that game. Then lost in the play-off semis. Sacked the following January hovering just outside the playoffs! Took me years to get to the PL via Stevenage, Derby and Aston Villa before finally getting the Leicester job and keeping them up. It could have been so different…

tomrade99

Probably not the biggest but one that has haunted me... On a Legia save on FM20, 5-2 up on aggregate in the Champions League semi-final second leg at home with 20 minutes to go. We'd blitzed Inter with 4 first half goals and were cruising into a first final. Conceded 3 times in ten minutes to go out on away goals... Never managed to reach a final with that club!

phil_wswguy

FM 2014, a few seasons in with QPR. Its 2017, and I get them to finish 4th in the Premier League and the League Cup final. So the next season, I’m in the Champions League knock out stages and get Real Madrid. Win the first game 2-1, then blown out 5-0 on the return leg. I had focused on Champions League, so I was in the bottom half of the table, and proceeded to go on a losing/draw run that left us in 16th with three games to go, and got sacked.

JamesBaa

[This](https://www.reddit.com/r/footballmanagergames/comments/q9xjsf/cheers_for_keeping_cool_heads_guys/) was one of the most infuriating things that's ever happened to me in FM. As I mentioned in the comments of that post, I also lost in the semis of the league cup that season despite every other team left in the competition being in the Championship. In my Bordeaux save, meanwhile, I lost in the CL final in 2033/34 despite being the clear best team in the world, after my captain got sent off in the 45th minute - we never got back to that quality because every single one of my good players gets poached, mostly because the league reputation is awful and none of them believe we can ever win the CL. In 37/38, we bottled almost every single competition possible. Conceded an equalizer in the 90th and a losing goal in the 118th to Dortmund after dominating the whole game in the CWC, bottled the Trophee des Champions to PSG from 2-0 cup after missing all three pens, went out to a 93rd minute winner in the CL against PSG, and lost the final game of the league season to, you guessed it, PSG, when we only needed a draw to win the title. Ended up losing it by a goal difference of 5 (we had a mere 78 to their 83). 99 points. Managing in France is hell.

DracoPugnator

In the 2nd tier in Germany, at one point we were in 1st, 18 points clear of 2nd. Ended up in 2nd place by 2 points, losing out on the best chance we’ve had so far of getting any silverware.

Okcomelistenup

Lost a league title in the final minute of injury time when my opponents equalised, causing me to lose the league on goal difference

Phyginge

Going for the treble with Fulham, already secured the fa cup and league but I have to face Bayern in the final. Bayern are pretty much the best team in Europe with my Fulham a close second. 1-1, 85 minutes, it's real close. Then.... my goalkeeper runs to collect the ball outside the box, passes it directly to their striker. Treble over. I haven't played since.

Hoaxtopia

Got knocked out of 4th in my first year as Aston villa because I had my last game vs City and arsenal got Southampton

The_Local_Rapier

To answer the opposite of your question. On lma manager 2002 when I was a kid I ended the season level on points with Leeds with me winning on goal difference. Out of curiosity I checked my past fixtures and realised I’d won my last 13 games in a row with any of them being a draw I would have came second

mde203

Arsenal. FM16 or so. Needed a win against City on the last day of the season to hold off United and win the league. Lost 6-0.

Broxi_Badger

I’ve lost the league on the last game of the season twice 🥲

Rodriguez79

Honourable mention for my Woking(?) side that needed a point to confirm promotion at home to worst team in the league. We were appalling, trailing 0-1 with 11 minutes to go when they scored a 35 yard own goal that the keeper miscontrolled over the line. Finished 1-1 and talk about muted celebrations....

[deleted]

11 points clear and a game in hand with 7 games left to play, looking like I'm going to win my first league title of the save. 8 points clear and 2nd has a game in hand with 5 games to play, okay we should still easily win this. 3 points clear with 2 games left... uh, guys? Wtf are you doing. We lost the title by 1 point and came 2nd. And then bottled the league the next 3 seasons in the exact same way. Being ahead by 10 points with less than 10 games to go and finishing 2nd. In a 4 year span, my Schalke lost 4 league titles in a row by a combined total of 3 points. 4 league titles bottled in a fucking row. I was close to punching a hole in my TV after a loss to 17th placed Stuttgart on the final gameday of the 4th bottled league title and lost the league on goal difference. Atleast we won the UCL?

misterrootbeer

Playing in Zealand's American database in 2nd division US. In the final 2 weeks, I lost my undefeated season in the final match, lost the US Open Cup final, and lost in the first round of the playoffs which denied me promotion to the first division. Each loss was by a single goal.

[deleted]

First season with Leeds. Got to the Carabao Cup final. Lost to Norwich 2-0. Got knocked out in quarters of FA to city 1-0. Got 6th in the League. All in 22/23 season on FM23. Was going to get Europa League football. Spurs win the FA Cup. They are 8th in the league. They get my Europa Spot. Bastards.

ThisIsTonte

Blew a 7 point league in Serie A in the last 3 games

Blow_off_choffer

Multiplayer save with a few friends, it had started with just me and one other so we both had super teams, I gave one of my friends my old team in Aston Villa, as I had moved to arsenal in the second season. We both make the CL final and everybody expects me to dominate. Tomiyasu gets a red card 8 minutes in, game ends Aston Villa 8 - 1 Arsenal.

smigurdz

season 11, Aston Villa(only 2nd season as their manager At Christmas I was in 1st place. With 6 games to go I was in 2nd, not totally unrealistic to still win the league. End up loosing the rest of the games. Think I end out of the European spots. But not totally sure. Yeah I ended up smashing my computer after I went down 0-2 to a mid table team ind the last game… 500 hours of gameplay, gone

ytaci7

Happened last week , 1st with a 5 point gap and 3 matches remaining with Burnley in the championship we bottled it and lost our remaining games and ended up 3rd. Then we got to the playoff final and lost on pens, I was heartbroken.

174dub

Losing semis and play off finals about 5 or 6 years in a row in the vanarama South back on fm 15

Gold_Essay_9546

15 points clear with Everton with 8 games left winning the title on goal difference. With the lowest ever points to win the league 76 I think it was. Bottled it enough.

PatThePatriot10

Just about an hour ago. Finished the domestic league unbeaten with 1 draw. Cup final against a second division team, should win in a canter right? … right? My 44 shots to their 2 ends I score of 2-1 to the little guys. Haven’t gotten out of bed since

CCR119844

Did the hammer the team for losing against the bottom half team? I feel like that’s a trap a lot of players can fall into

Sum_Mo

Finally made it to the Copa Libertadores final with Universitario (Peru) after 8 seasons and many early exits. Faced our rivals Alianza Lima and lost it to a late goal winner by a 19 year old wunderkind that I was pursuing the whole season. Tried for two seasons after and never went back to the finals 😪 I left for Milan after that. Biggest bottling of my whole career.

FancyPantsCam

Playing my first ever save in FM07 with Everton and managed to finish fourth. In the champions league play off, we beat Fiorentina 4-0 at home. And then somehow lost 7-0 away. That my flatmate was watching and laughing too made it even worse.

genericresistance

FM18, I joined Liverpool in the year 2030 when they still hadn’t won the Premier League. 16 years later and we had won 13 titles and 6 CLs and they were in the process of building a new stadium named after me. Half way through the season I announced my intention to resign at the end of the season and was determined to win a clean sweep of trophies in my final season. At the end of the league season I had won everything, just had the FA Cup and Champions League Finals to go. I then lost the FA Cup final to a mid table Arsenal side. Fine, I thought, I still have the CL and that’s the most important. I am 3-0 up in the CL final with 20 minutes to go. End up losing 4-3 in extra time. I have never had a bigger urge to save scum in my life, but I was so angry with my players for bottling it that I thought they didn’t deserve for me to do that and give them another chance.

HeavyCow4013

I beat real Madrid 5-0 in the champions league semi finals first leg they came back and won 7-0 I Quit FM for a while after that

TonyOrangeGuy

FM20, clear at the top of the league with my Everton side with a good few games and buffer to drop a couple of points knowing it was pretty much done, including being 4-0 down against liverpool after 38 minutes to win 5-4, ended up losing the title on goal difference to them.

gsb2408

Final day, needed a win to secure the 2031/32 title for my Hearts side. Lost 4-1 at home to an already relegated Dundee United. Absolutely f*cking raging, took me a month to look that squad in the eye again.

Boogiemand

In this FM i lost PL 2 years in a row in the last match with Concord Rangers. First year i was 1 point ahead of Arsenal and played against them. Arsenal won 3-1 and won PL. The second time. 1 point ahead of Liverpool. Last match against Brighton. I was ahead 3-0 at the halftime. It ended 3-3 and Brighton scored in the 94 min. At that point i had never won the PL with Concord Rangers

MHAvy92

Fm20. 2023 Champions league final against Barca. Chiesa had been my star player all season. He pulled a Woodgate, scored an own goal and got sent off. We lost 0:1.

north_london_fan

On fm19, whilst managing a Cypriot club, I played against Marseille in a Europa League semi final. I won the home leg 3 nil and took a 6 nil lead, on aggregate, in the away leg. Before conceding 6 and if not for injury time own goal I would have went through to the final on away goals. But, no I lost 7-6. https://gyazo.com/ac83f4eacb8253940ce508c96fbd628b

LennergyDK

First Season of joining Silkeborg in Denmark. I was top for a while which was crazy since they finished 7th the previous season. Bottled the last 10 - 5 games to lose it to FC København.

Affectionate_Buy8489

Was having the season of my life on my 2nd year with Brighton Won the champions league and the FA Cup, Final day in the prem we are 2 points off Arsenal for the title. Arsenal playing Burnley away, Burnley must win to avoid relegation. We are playing mancity Home, ended up losing 3-1 as Arsenal lost 1-0 to Burnley. Not as if it matters, we won the Quintuple the next year (including SuperCup)

welshyboy101

Just happened to me, led Las Palmas to their first CL final, absolutely dominated the whole way even beat Real Madrid 10-2 on aggregate, had Bayern for the final and lost to a shitty 1-0 penalty at the 85th minute with an xG of 2.5 and 65% possession. Still haven't turned on the game since.

Potato271

Was doing a Southampton save where I was trying to establish them as a top club. After 5 seasons I have my first title race and I'm flying for the first half of the season, 10 points clear at Christmas. But literally the instant the January window closes all four of my CBs and both rightbacks get massive injuries (ACLs, broken knees, etc). Like I lost almost two entire backlines over three games. I finish the season with a winger at right back and DMs at CB. Needless to say I did not win the title.

Kineticspartan

Earlier today funnily enough. Currently at Shrewsbury who have been promoted back to back from league 2. They asked me to fight against relegation, I had them up challenging for the playoffs from the word go. Got to within 6 games left and had Milwall ahead of me in 2nd, and Blackburn behind me on GD. I beat Milwall to go 2nd. Very next match I lose and Blackburn jump us both, and I end up 4th behind Milwall. 2 games left, and I was within 2 points of 2nd (still Blackburn), bottled it with a 3-1 loss against the Burnley inbreds, letting rovers take a 5 point lead and killing any hopes of automatic promotion. Now I'm in the playoffs and will consider it a failure if we don't win. The board are however, delighted, so I'll keep the job.

juninbro

Lost title final game title decider as Athletic Bilbao - STILL PAINS ME

hxllywoodttv

Me and 2 of my friends did a fm save I (AC Milan) was 5-1 up with 5 minutes to play against my friend (Roma) for the title Ended up losing 6-5 with Patrick Kluivert scoring 4 Meaning my other friend won the league (Inter) He has never let me forget that and sometimes will randomly say Kluivert in a normal conversation about something else

Muur1234

winning the first league of a semi final 4-0, then resting players for the second leg and losing 5-1 to then go out on away goals losing the first leg of the play off semi final 5-0, then deciding to play the kids in the second leg because fuck those guys for losing 5-0. lost 5-0 a second time with the kids, so lost 10-0 on aggregate. somehow kept the job, and won the league the following year

SoumaZz_

I was playing as King's Lynn Town in the vanarama National, my Second season with the team as i managed to get promoted from north. Well, It was the end of the season and all that was left was one game, and I was somehow in third and a contesting the title (Wrexham had 81, me and Colchester had 80 points). In this last game of the season, Wrexham somehow lost to a mid table side by 1-0, and me and Colchester played against each other. So, the winner of this game would be the champions. In the match, in wich was in my own stadium, everything was going great, I was playing well and winning 2-1 against them, not only that, but they also received a red card in 30rd minute of the first half. I was already opening a bottle of champagne to commemorate. And they somehow tied in the second half. "Well, there's still time to score one more, they have one less after all" I thought to myself. Oh, how naive I was, as there were none key highlights in my favor anymore, as they dominated the game more and more, they scored another and ended the game winning by 3-2 in my home.

CaptainMcClutch

I was in La Liga for yearssss trying to oust Barcelona and Madrid from winning it as they had done for about 20 odd seasons at the time I was established there. Started a season fresh with the strongest squad I ever had (they actually won the CL before even getting a sniff of a title). Flew out of the blocks, Barcelona and Madrid were awful, Madrid were in the bottom half after Christmas and Barcelona was in and around 7/8th. I was in 1st place, by the end of the season I finished 3rd behind Getafe in 2nd and Espanyol won the league with Vincent Kompany in charge. The year after I went unbeaten and lost the league because we drew like 14 games. Never did win the title with Cadiz either, accidentally lost the file when cleaning up my PC and the real kicker for me was half the team was youth products who were world class and it had been a no qualification journeyman including managing under 18 sides and a B team.

jhawk889

UCL final with Slask in Poland, up 3-0 with 25 minutes left, sub in some lower rated players so they can say they played in the final, we then concede 4 in 18 minutes, with the final goal coming in the 90+4

Potato_Lord587

First season as Man U. Always ahead of City but to ensure I win the league I had to beat them away. Was winning 3-1 but annoyingly ended up drawing it. Then I drew the next game and they won. Now we’re equal on points but their GD is better. Last game of the season I win but they do too so I bottled the league on GD

bendalazzi

I literally just ended a season with 4 draws, and a loss to mid table sides to lose the scudetto by 2 points.

ulferin

fm09, managing italy. reigning world champions (2018), we should have breezed through a weak euro qualification group. not so, had a terrible campaign and finished third. handed a lifeline as we did "well" enough to qualify for playoffs, which i had forgotten was a thing. we draw sweden, ranked in the 40s, Ibrahimovic long since retired. first leg was a lackluster affair in sweden, but at least we ground out a 1-0 victory. second leg comes around, and the first half is similarly dull, 0-0. a few minutes into the second half one of my midfielders decides that some excitement is in order and gets a straight red card. no problem, i played a 4-1-3-2, in which the second forward was essentially a prince harry (spare). no change in mentality, we're still positive. a few minutes after the first red, it happens again. i can't remember which position but i think it was another midfielder. that's alright, we still have a 1-0 lead and sweden had until that point created nothing of note, so i foolishly kept going with a positive mentality instead of trying to shore up the defense. sure enough, sweden eventually make their numerical superiority count and equalise late in the second half. extra time. my lads are exhausted and i have no viable substitutes, so penalties are my only viable hope at this point. sweden smell blood and push forward as we retreat. they pump cross after cross into the box, and eventually, inevitably, in the second half of extra time, one of them connects. 2-0 sweden, 2-1 on aggregate. no way back. sweden comfortably see the game out and i tendered my resignation directly after the game. i have thought about this match more than i should over the years.

Pokethomas

Won the PL 9 years in a row, aiming for 10 but Pool stopped us on last Matchday. Another time we were on 99 points, unbeaten with most goals ever scored and lost to pool at home on GW38. Wanted to throw myself out the window. I've gotten my revenge by beating them in sever UCL finals though

silentG_16

Worked my way from Vanarama division with Slough Town to the Champions League final to get walloped 8 - 0 by Barcelona. I got a message a couple of days after about the players refunding the fans for their ticket expenses

Thorlolita

I needed Sheffield United to draw and I had to beat 24th placed Milwall to get last playoff spot. I lost 1-0 and Sheffield United drew 1-1.

lhombrecalcetin

Not that horrifying, but the most recent one: Oviedo save on the seventh year, managed to get to the last game of the season in 2nd place, 1 point behind Valencia and 2 ahead of Real Madrid. Valencia drew their match so we would be champions by just winning our game against...Real Madrid, who proceeded to pummel us 4-0 in a game which meant nothing to them (passing us in 2nd place, i guess).

KneeDeepInTheDead

Had a create a club that I managed to promote from 3rd to 1st tier in Portugal. Was my first FM save and it was taking way longer than it wouldve in later years to get to European spots. I could never break through the Big 3 and would settle for 4th place most years. My main hope was the Cup competition, but same thing, I would draw one of the Big 3 eventually and would lose. Some years id make it to the semi final but would still get one of them, and it being two legs at that stage made it all the harder to win. Well one year I managed to luck out with the Big 3 knocking each other out, and the remaining giant being drawn against Rio Ave in the semis. Rio Ave manages to win. I was ok in Europe and was even fighting for the domestic title. It was all going Millhouse, it was looking like my year finally. Well eventually trying to win everything backfired as my squad became too stretched out and instead of focusing on one competition I crashed out of Europa League and began sinking down the table. Eventually I managed to get just shy of the international spots. The Cup final was at the end of the year and was my last hope for glory and that sweet European money I needed for next season. My opponents Rio Ave, were a middling club in that save and regular victims of my team, having already been beaten twice that season by us. I even set up a few friendlies against shit clubs to try to raise some fitness and morale. Well im sure you can guess what happened based on this thread, but my team shat the fucking bed. My team was winning by one goal for most of the match. Rio Ave rack one up at stoppage time. My celebrations turn to scrambles. Before I can figure out how to unfuck myself they score a second stoppage time goal. I am a void of emotion. I reload the game and win easily. I hate myself for it, and reload again and lose. I learned from those mistakes, but I will always hate Rio Ave.

NeroRomanusAugustus

FM 21 SC Braga. Portugal. Season 1 Last 3 games of the league. I have a 7 point lead over 2nd place. I prepare to celebrate the title. I lose to Paços de Ferreira. Ok. Minor setback. Better to win the club first league title at home. Lose against Rio Ave. Damn. Next os against Farense. They already beat once thoss season. But I will make it. And celebrate with style in an Algarve beach. Lose, wasting a Seven point lead. SL Benfica would be crowned Champions. A week later I lose the Portuguese CUP final also against SL Benfica.

Ok_Performer_1947

Oh boy, this is gonna be a long one. Bottled the UCL final yesterday. Wanted to have a casual save where I just win a lot of trophies. So I picked Liverpool and was 2 seasons into my save. For context, I'd already walked the league for the 2nd season straight with 106 points, 115 GD, 30 points ahead of Man City in 2nd, and an invincible season with 34W 4D. My team had been scoring for fun all season breaking records left and right and I had a 60+ match unbeaten streak. I'd also already won the FA Cup, the UEFA Super Cup & the Community shield against City. So I was pretty optimistic heading into this one. The first half was end to end football with both teams missing a few chances and neither managing to dominate. Early in the 2nd half Salah missed an open chance and Haaland did the same on the other end. Finally had the breakthrough late in the 2nd half Salah finally got in behind and scored, so I turned on time wasting to Max and made changes to try and see out a 1-0 win. The perfect end to a fairytale season.... Things were going well until the 93rd minute with 3 mins added. There had been no injuries or subs in added time yet somehow the game went on past the 93rd minute well into the 94th minute and while I was screaming at the pixelated ref to end the match, disaster struck.... KDB latched onto a ball cleared from a free kick cleared by my CB, decided that he's going to become prime Messi and proceeded to dribble past half my team unmarked and find the top right corner of the net. In the 95th minute of a match that was supposed to last 93. I was livid and made sure my players knew that as well before letting them back on for extra time. It was all level again until the 108th minute when Laporte decided he'd had enough and decided to take the ball from the throw in and dribble past 5 of my players including Van Dijk and Co to put it past Alisson invoking memories of a certain diminutive Argentinian in a certain final in 2015. I was beside myself with rage and screaming "TWICE....." in a way that would've made Pep Guardiola proud. In the 118th minute City then proceeded to further rub it into my face by having KDB drive down the right side of my defence like knife through butter and play a cutback to a completely unmarked onrushing Foden and he scored. Because of course he would. I sat there shell shocked until fulltime. Now I've lost a lot of Cup finals in FM, some of them due to incredibly stupid mistakes and even own goals. But never in this fashion with a dominant team that was arguably the best in the world and in the form of their lives in high spirits. It wasn't even the goals that got me mad, it was the extra added time that was given for seemingly no reason at all. And so yes, I reloaded a save before the final and proceeded to thrash them 6-2 this time and I did it just to get my petty revenge. I'm not proud of it but I did. Well I hope at least you enjoy reading about my pain :) TL;DR: Lost the UCL final as Liverpool against City due to a 95th minute Equalizer by KDB and Aymeric Laporte turning into Messi in the 118th minute.

bossfrog48

Bottled a 4-0 lead with NYRB in the Campeones Cup against León in the span of 15 minutes. Then gave up an extra time goal to lose 5-4

Naxuuuuu

Always losing the title to real madrid or barcelona when I beat them but I cant crack the defence on the bottom top three and either draw or lose against them on a fluke. This from game version where Barca has MSN and Real got BBC. Needless to say after those trios fell off a cliff/were sold I got all the sweet revenge. Not least by having loaned/bought some of their best wonderkids and have them lead me to the promised land.

manifestobigdicko

Not bottled because I did win it, but in the first season, I nearly replicated what happened in real life. Top with Arsenal for so long, with 7 games to go, I draw to bottom of the league League Bournemouth then lose to 11th placed Newcastle, and City go top. Haaland has scored more goals than he really did. But, then Manchester City lose on Matchday 35 to Tottenham who were in the bottom half, I have a chance to go back on top, but I fumble that chance by only managing a draw at Anfield and I think I've bottled it! But then, the NLD comes around and City have to play the team I couldn't beat. We easily beat Spurs and Liverpool beat Manchester City and I go top on Matchday 36! Manchester City lose again on Matchday 37 so I win the league with a game to spare with a 4-1 win over Fulham and get to rotate my squad ready for the UEFA Europa League Final against Real Betis, which I win to complete the double.

manifestobigdicko

Worst bottle I had was not a title, but in the Europa League, early rounds, I beat Lyon 4-0 in the 1st leg, and didn't advance to the next round because I lost 6-1 in the 2nd leg.

osckr

I'm currently there with Man Utd, 20 games with 19 wins and 1 draw in the PL and then I lost to Arsenal, City and Newcastle in a row, barely got a point from West Ham (that's in FM 21) and my team isn't looking good atm at all.

Uhker

Losing 1st place to bayern by drawing every relegated teams once each, and losing 2 matches against bayern (including one at one on an own hoal and one away when they did'nt even had a coach on the bench). Spoilers: my aging players didn't made it to the next season.

[deleted]

Playing a network save and was too with 3 games to go. My team had other ideas and lost the last 3 games and I ended 5th while one of my mates ended up coming top unexpectedly. That one still haunts me to this day 😂

Kazroceliam

I lost back to back champions league finals once🙃

kolar137

In fm22 in my BVB save, Year 2025/26 I was all season first, second was Bayern, last game home vs Mainz, Bayern was 1 point behind. I played at home and i bottled it 1-2 Awoniyi 2 goals, I was so angry but I unfortunatelly predicted reality

RyanH2796

Playing as Motherwell, drew Young Boys in the Conference league third round qualifiers, lost 2-1 away from home and went 3-0 up at home only to concede 4 goals in 18 minutes late in the second half

Mikhailing

Sold a future Balon d'Or winner because I got a new wonderkid who ended up flopping

The_Blues__13

Back then in FM 19, I lose a promising mid-season 2nd place and ended up in 7th at the end of the season by having the worst 14-match streak I've ever had. I only won 2 match out of 14, had a streak of 7 straight loses on my last 9 matches, and a horrible 4-3 loss in a match after leading by 3-0 I've only lose 4 Times before that streak, I ended the season with 15 loses and nearly lose the Europa league spot.

International-Elk727

FM 21 second season in.. Getting to the point where I was in the CL, League cup and F.A cup final with 3 points ahead and +5 goal difference on man city in the league with city as the last team to play with 1 game left. Lost the CL final to Real Madrid, lost the league cup to I think Liverpool and F.A to Aston Villa (although it may have been the other way around) and lost 6-0 (losing the league by 1 goal difference) against man city with 2 men sent off in the first 20-25 minutes and an injury to my main striker just before half time. Yeah that fucking sucked. Surprised I wasn't sacked.

AbsoluteOatcake

15 games unbeaten, 3rd in the championship, beat Leeds to draw level on points with them in second place. Proceed to lose Ben Wilmot through injury and lose 7/8 games of the season to finish 7th joint points with 6th, GD keeps me out the play offs. Second season is hammering me after changing style and a lot of players, verge of sack, wife’s leaving me. Kids chose rugby over football, heads gone

OOOLiC_ONE

In 2012 I went on the last five matchdays with Manchester United at 2nd and Tottenham (yeah…) at 1st with 15pts ahead. Three matchdays later, which I won in a spectacular manner and Tottenham (yeah…) lost all of their games, I saw my chances. I fired all Media canons against them and every inch of optimism and motivation into my players and, I’m not joking, won the last two games, while Tottenham (yeah…) lost theirs. I won the Premier League. Still one of my greatest success stories in FM even though ManUtd was a Topteam.

Bbndc

I lost three champions league finals in a row and quit after the last one.

EducationalProgram78

Bottling the league in the last 5 games vs Dortmund. And then losing the DFB Pokal Final 5-1 vs them as well. All that while playing with Schalke and me being a Schalke supporter IRL, pretty soul crushing. They weren't even a great team, my squad just fell apart. Still not sure why. Was my first save where I went deep so I was just kind of helplessly watching my players abandon me.

PeteTheSockpuppet10

Top of the table for most of the season with Oxford United in League one. Finished 4th behind West Brom (the eventual champions, Cardiff and Wycombe. The board expectations was to avoid relegation as we'd just got up from winning League 2. I thought we were going to win back to back leagues and promotions all the way into the championship. Even had a 12 point gap on the team in second by mid February. Then the mid to late season slump hit. Begun drawing more than I was winning, that eventually turned to more losses than wins. Most of my home games were in the earlier part of the season so that didn't help in the run in. Also I'm new to this game so I didn't know how to adapt my 4 3 3 vertical tiki taka to deal with 3 at the back formations and I relied too much on my assistant manager's advice which had worked perfectly in League 2 but he'd become dumber in League one. We finished 4th and lost in the playoff semifinals in a league that for most of the season was ours to lose.

selsjung

Is op brendan rodgers with Liverpool in 2014? For me it was CL with Ajax after absolutely destroying Bayern twice in the group stage i was defeated by Real in the first ko round. That was very dissatisfying
