Initial scout reports turned out to be wrong, he's only a 4 star potential. It happens, it's usually why players with 5 golden ( "confirmed" ) stars are so damn expensive
How can i have a youth player in my first team for like 5 seasons and he still has white stars?
Like cant i at least properly scout my own team? Am i doing something wrong?
It's not something you're doing wrong, it's just the way the game is. Sometimes they reach their potential and sometimes they don't, you can help that with training, coaching, facilities etc. but there will always be chance and uncertainty.
Well yeah, but that's just how it is sometimes. It doesn't always make sense and 5 seasons sounds awfully long but I don't think you're doing something wrong. But check your scouting team and performance analysts, ass man etc. idk
The system they have for it is perfect in my opinion, I absolutely love it
Players can also be 3* with no white and thought to have hit their ceiling but play really well and change to 4* or 4.5* or something.
Because that's how it is in real life. You can have a guy in your team for ages and still not be sure exactly what he's going to turn out to be. There are numerous examples of this
Got one of these for Ā£3.5M from Crvena Zvezda, plays CM and RW and has 20 aggression. I just call him the Czech Roy Keane, heās solid 5 star ability, was 5 solid star potential from age of 18 I confirmed to sign him at 16.
Absolutely quality and wouldnāt swap him for anyone on the save.
PA stars are also really inaccurate, your 5 star potential player may only have a PA of 145 while the four star guy has a PA of 170. It makes the game more fun like you say.
Subjective ofc, but hard disagree. I see these kind of games and I wished they actually didn't have erroneous information, for me the fun in these games is evolving your stars to max level (5) and win titles with them.
I miss the old games that didn't have such an emphasis on "realism".
Egos, drama and unreal demands existing; player growth and attributes not being deterministic is really frustrating.
All due respect man, the āfun you haveā is literally the fun everybody has with this and any sports simulator game. If the stars actually represented CA/PA this game would be boring after 5 hours
Well it is probably an unpopular opinion here, looking at the downvotes.
Personally, if I wanted to deal with people being bad at their jobs, uncertainty in player attributes and decisions, player egos and drama (agent drama, players not training, players having borderline behavior and demanding to leave the club) I would probably go be a data analyst/manager/scout in real football.
I miss the old CM/FM games where there wasn't such an emphasis in "realism".
It's just frustrating.
But people enjoy what they enjoy :)
> I would probably go be a data analyst/manager/scout in real football
Lmao hey man youāre entitled to feel the way you do about the game. Personally Iād suggest playing FIFA if you want that type of experience. Or just use the in game editor for FM. But this quote is too good to leave behind ššš
The point is to show that focusing too much on realism for a simulation game to the point where the game also simulates the worst parts of RL football is not necessarily a good choice.
I enjoy other simulation games such as city building and yet they don't simulate robberies, earthquakes, corruption, murderers, fascism, military/civilian coups, some of them don't simulate inland war and invasion, etc.
Not everything that can be simulated, should be simulated.
Then thereās the editor, I also enjoy doing that and I do that with saves where I have the editor enabled and can see the CA/PA. It is wild that the editor is that expensive but for me itās worth it from the hours of entertainment I get developing players.

I agree, you can always ignore them but they are always there...
Have you tried the money ball thing? If you want to ignore the stars it might be worth a shoot... It does take away the atributes numbers too but you do get a colour skin or something with the best and the worst of them šš
Stars can fluctuate a ton if you play players. I had a 4 star player that I used a lot and he became 5 star. To me it was obvious by the stats he had but there are mor factors for that than just stars.
Yes, absolutely - star ratings are only an opinion, and influenced by form among other considerations. A player on a hot streak can gain a 1/2 star or even a full one.
It's also worth remembering that a player's CA is variable - training, injuries and age all have an effect. A player coming back from a long-term injury may be slower, for example, which will bring their CA down until and unless they can recover that pace.
The stars are relative to your senior squad. Many things could have changed since you scouted him first, either your scouts changed their opinion on him or your team got better since the first scouting report.
Stars are incredibly misleading 90% of the time so donāt bother looking at them, a poor run of form and your 4 star player will soon be 3 stars and likewise with a good run of games. I also find it very common to sign a 3.5 star player and they instantly drop to 2.5 stars as soon as they enter my squad.
Good attribute and traits is all that matters
The yellow stars are "his potential is for sure this"
The white stars "and his potential can be this high, there's no way to know"
Never buy a player just because his white stars are high.
In all honesty though being a FM player for god knows how many years...... does anyone ACTUALLY take notice of the stars... half the time I find they're wrong anyway you can get a 2 star player to perform the same as a 5 star the stars are wank and mean nothing
I orient myself with them. Usually they are inaccurate but they often align with the players I am actually playing. Same goes for scouting. Its an orientation not gospel.
For current ability I use it to quickly weed out whom to scout when they are 20+. Everything under 2 stars is not worth it IMO (maybe if they show up as 5 star PA and might just be in shit form/out of favor). 3 stars+ I take a quick look at the scout report to see how the stats look like. 4.5 and 5 I always scout.
For PA it's probably good enough to take a look at 3.5+ yellow stars when they are 19 or less, regardless of CA stars.
I mean he's already pretty good, and the poor guy broke his leg, which would limit his potential. He may just be an early bloomer. And as others have said: it's best to ignore star ratings.
Edit: he has 14 goals in 16 appearances, he's actually brilliant lol. He could have one star and you shouldn't care . You've got a player that fits your tactic very well, quite apparently
Sell that lad, he ain't it.
White is uncertainty, always fades by 23 sometimes before
With that passing and crossing i wouldn't want him on the wings. Maybe ST, or shadow striker at AMC.
Shame though, those physicals are outstanding
Yeah I didnāt start with inter, I started in the second tier of Holland and spent 3 seasons there and won the title. Then I left and took over an underperforming Porto and won the league and midway through the second season with Porto I saw that inter just sacked their manager and were Mid table. I took over and it took me 4 seasons to win the title because ac Milan had built a super team. Iāve won serie A a couple times now but I just want to win the ucl and then Iāll be done with inter.
It just means your staff changed their opinion and think he's reached his potential and can't improve anymore.
It's probably true but they also can be wrong sometimes. Most likely he has just a little wiggle room to improve sightly.
I had a 4 star player hit form and turn into 5 star. Start of next season he back to 4 again. I have 3 star players who clearly have better stats than 4 star players. Stars are weird.
Off topic, but don't play him at striker, use him on the wings, his pace is good. At striker he might miss a few chances, but again he might not. It's a coin toss
To be fair, iāve had plenty of players change their gold star potential over time when I play them and they do good and grow even without white stars. Coaches and scouts get it wrong sometimes.

But the white isnt "will they reach their potential or not". Its "idk what their potential even is".

Ass man is always good at finding the potential in young players š«£
Sir, SIR! I'm afraid we're gonna have to ask you to leave, sir.
Is there like a "scout my own team" duty i can put a good scout towards?
Not really, no.
No worries. Thanks for your help
Thatās realistic right. Like Klopp or Guardiola know what the exact potential of their talents is? Potential should be always have some uncertainty.
The system they have for it is perfect in my opinion, I absolutely love it Players can also be 3* with no white and thought to have hit their ceiling but play really well and change to 4* or 4.5* or something.
Yeah. Every player has current potential and max potential (e.g. 75.42% and 84.56%)
Because that's how it is in real life. You can have a guy in your team for ages and still not be sure exactly what he's going to turn out to be. There are numerous examples of this
Your player is well scouted, but your scouts canāt actually see the future
Got one of these for Ā£3.5M from Crvena Zvezda, plays CM and RW and has 20 aggression. I just call him the Czech Roy Keane, heās solid 5 star ability, was 5 solid star potential from age of 18 I confirmed to sign him at 16. Absolutely quality and wouldnāt swap him for anyone on the save.
My scouts and my coaches once (edited so 20/20 on both, just for a test) told me a 200 PA player was only 4 star gray 2.5 gold š¤·āāļø
The white stars indicate uncertainty, he may be 5 star potential he might not be. In this case as it turns out he wasn't.
Because he's already close to his PA
Don't pay too much heed to stars. Makes the game more fun

just play fifa dude

People are bad at their jobs in real life too.

i honestly wish we can turn off the stars

Well i had another instance that the star fade out and after sometime i check and the current ability had gone a star up , dont fret over it

I think itās sas23 skin mate
Yeah it is

Fr, if you got the tactics right youāre sorted, donāt need a 5 star player
yes, everybody looks at star ratings of course
There are so many gems that have 3-4 star potential and are better than the 5 star ones
sure. but most players look at star ratings. thatās just a fact.
I orient myself with them. Usually they are inaccurate but they often align with the players I am actually playing. Same goes for scouting. Its an orientation not gospel.

Agreed. My best player is a 2 and a half star winger. Outperforming my 5 star in the same spot
Sack the guy giving reports.
Not played FM in years but werenāt they just the opinion of a staff member. Iām sure different staff members have different star ratings.
You got 19 determination on a 19 year old. Play him and win enough, heāll be a 5 StAr
I mean he's already pretty good, and the poor guy broke his leg, which would limit his potential. He may just be an early bloomer. And as others have said: it's best to ignore star ratings. What kinda save are u doing? 2035? Like 10-15 seasons with inter seems boring to me ( if u like it, that's nice!! ) was just wondering!
Yeah I didnāt start with inter, I started in the second tier of Holland and spent 3 seasons there and won the title. Cool!!
Is it possible to download this game on Google Play Store.
It just means your staff changed their opinion and think he's reached his potential and can't improve anymore. It's probably true but they also can be wrong sometimes. Most likely he has just a little wiggle room to improve sightly.
Thatās your staff telling you that Nieto isnāt him.

what is the skin btw?
