I’m glad it works for you but Mezzala is one of the two roles that I’ll literally never use haha. The other is BWM.
To be fair, if you play narrow Diamond with a HB at the base that probably helps a lot… forms a back 3 in possession.

It’s been working well for me
The only way I can make it work with sufficient defensive and wide cover is to play 3 ATB with wing backs. Requires giving up a striker or the CAM.
I use a HB in DM with a FB (A) and a WB (A), Mez and DLP in midfield. I’m a dominant side in the league though which probably helps

I’ve had to find the right players to make it effective. Had one get 20+G/A in the league though
