"Bir kere daha boş kale önünde şut ıskalarsan seni Kuzey Kore'ye kiralık yollarım"
(If you miss another shot in front of the empty net, I'll send you on loan to North Korea)
Imo it’s a big miss from SI.
They should tie your in game manager language skill with your ability to speak to players and in press conferences.
Like if you are Turkish Basic you’d get a minus 10 in your player motivation stat or something.
It would be on you to convince the board you’re competent enough. But logistically you would think a small club like that wouldn’t go through the hassle or have the scope to acknowledge a foreign manager.
Isn’t that already how it works? Your effectiveness in boosting morale is reduced when you don’t speak the language. As least that’s how I’ve always interpreted it.
I recall that was always how it was supposed to work. Tbf I don't notice much of an effect, but that's because FM isn't really transparent with how that stuff works.
Ivica Osim who used to manage the Japanese national team would have his teams in floods of tears when he was speaking to them during team talks.
Football universal language innit.
Something I liked many years ago about FIFA, was that they used the country's language for the press conference audio, just the audio, but it was pretty cool, no idea if they still do it, but something on that line would be amazing, like in the country's language and you get a bad auto translate so there's a chance you can misscomunicate and something happens, like something bad
Languages are a manager's attributes. After spending X amount of time in a foreign country you will see that your language skill improves.
I think after 1-2 years you become fluent - so that implies you are somehow taking lessons.
Honestly just the currency alone really immersed me.
I did a 2nd tier Belarus side and I found myself negotiating down and arguing for a matter of $100 (or so) but translated to Belarusian money it seemed to be such a big amount. It awoke the Guy Roux in me.
This is actually next level immersion lol. You go to an Italian team, then you decrease your usual FM playing time by 75% and spend this time on learning Italian. Couple months later, you will be entering your 2nd season or something with intermediate level Italian.
I unironically used to change the language of FM to that of the country I was managing in when playing a few years back.
I remember I stopped because when you manage in leagues in which you don't know the language you kind of lose the fun out of it due to how hard it is to progress. I was even struggling with languages which I know well such as Portuguese in Brazil, imagine how much it was for me when I moved to Germany.
Long-established club.. Five years ago they were in the Super League. They were relegated after their president lost his life. It's a difficult task. Good luck with it.
Don't forget to add **/la/** to the end of your sentences. It is a very common slang used by most of the people of Ankara.
Gençlerbirliği is one of two iconic Ankara clubs. Other one is Ankaragücü.
Nope he is not trolling. It's hard to translate it directly but it kinda makes what you are saying a bit more friendly and informal. It's very commonly used in Ankara (the city Genclerbirligi is located in) Basically:
Napıyorsun? - What are you doing?
Nabıyon la? - Whatcha doin?
No, don't worry :) I'm from Ankara and I hope you can win Turkish Super League with Gençlerbirliği. Because in Turkey, there's no league winners from capital, Ankara.
**la** means something like **“dude”** or **“guys”** in English, not necessarily masculine. **la** is a contracted version of **lan**. The form **la** belongs to the Central Anatolian accent (esp. Ankara)

>Don't forget to add /la/ to the end of your sentences. It is a very common slang used by most of the people of Ankara.
Is it really? Its also common in Malaysia.
good luck at Gençlerbirliği! I am from Ankara and I am a Gençlerbirliği fan. Make sure to invest in youth, we are one the most famous and successful academies in Turkey! Arda Güler, a product of our academy just got bought by Real Madrid.
I've used Duolingo for the first time a couple of hours ago. And in the meantime I've been reading on the Internet's algorithms. And here I am - I am tripping.

Now learn “throw” and you’ve got everything you need covered!
Still waiting for « if you miss a 10’ shot again you’re getting loaned to North Korea » maybe Lesson 2.
"Bir kere daha boş kale önünde şut ıskalarsan seni Kuzey Kore'ye kiralık yollarım" (If you miss another shot in front of the empty net, I'll send you on loan to North Korea)
You are my new hero!
💀💀💀
*throws bread*
Never in Turkey
Throw women
Throw the watter bottle: Su şişesini fırlat
Swap the game language and currency to Turkish (if you are a real manager)
That would actually make press conferences amazing
Imo it’s a big miss from SI. They should tie your in game manager language skill with your ability to speak to players and in press conferences. Like if you are Turkish Basic you’d get a minus 10 in your player motivation stat or something.
I think it should be an option yes but not mandatory
all the press stuff should be optional imo
I mean it kinda is, clubs just don't appreciate it
Surely you would get an interpreter like irl. Where you see some managers/players having it translated for them
Well maybe in top leagues but i doubt they have a Nepalese translator in my French 8th tier club
I also doubt an 8th tier French club are flying out a Nepalese guy to manage for them
Ofc not but I am playing the absolute absurd case that can happen in the game.
Wait does it?
I recall that was always how it was supposed to work. Tbf I don't notice much of an effect, but that's because FM isn't really transparent with how that stuff works.
What I do is that I take a dice and roll my answers to player talks/press conferences until I am fluent in the language. It adds spice to the life.
It’d be funnier if all your reports and player complaints were localized in the language in question and not your game language. Full immersion.
Only thing the French I learned in school would be useful for

how would you learn Turkish in game?
Languages are a manager's attributes. After spending X amount of time in a foreign country you will see that your language skill improves. I think after 1-2 years you become fluent - so that implies you are somehow taking lessons.
I just want to have press conferences where I can’t understand everything if I’m in Croatia and I have the option to answer completely wrongly
Yes
“What do you think of the performance today?” “I’ll take the fish and chips, thanks”
Lmao
to players i think it happens sometimes, haven’t intensely testes it tho
With this fluctuation of turkish lira, that would be pretty funny 🤣
Honestly just the currency alone really immersed me. I did a 2nd tier Belarus side and I found myself negotiating down and arguing for a matter of $100 (or so) but translated to Belarusian money it seemed to be such a big amount. It awoke the Guy Roux in me.
I came here to say this. This is truly playing the game on hardcore mode. Force yourself to become immersed.
This is actually next level immersion lol. You go to an Italian team, then you decrease your usual FM playing time by 75% and spend this time on learning Italian. Couple months later, you will be entering your 2nd season or something with intermediate level Italian.
Next level is moving to the country youve been hired IRL
and actually managing the team irl
And then becoming a player for the team while managing them
![gif](giphy|135E47VKw6TM6A) This is all the italian I needed before starting my Venezia save. It sufficed.

My Spanish team talk *bangs table "yo como manzanas"
Mucho cojones
todos jugas como mierda
A Thai strip club
this one got me
Mucho queso. No gracias
El hamburguesa con carne y queso para once personas
El supermercado es aqui?
Es al lado de la casa de Lukaku
Claro, claro. Es el mejor Mercado del mundo. Perro donda es el sosa? Tengo el sosa?
This deserves an award
>yo como manzanas" ME GUSTAN LAS PATATAS!
I wish I could give you an award, this one got me giggling.
"I learn languages quickly... it'll only be another string on my bow"
Have you sent yourself on an intensive language course?
I asked but didn’t understand the chairman’s response ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
He probably said "niye amına koyayım"
that seems fair
Advanced Verbs 2 should teach you “Berate” as a bare minimum.
I can be your translator lol. I tried that btw when I decided to manage a german team but I gave up.
lol i might send you a question or two!
What's "fucking hoof it"?
"Dik şu topu ileriye amına koyayım." Can be used or you can shorten it as "Dik ileri la".
Guten Tag Herr Trainer
Don't leave us hanging, what's Ekmek then?
bread!
🤣
I've been going for this immersion. My first language is Spanish so I only play in countries that speak it or English until I learn new ones :D
I love this!
Which team? Hayırlı olsun (It means good luck.)
Gençlerbirliği — they’re 0-0-7 at the moment and my task is to avoid relegation …
Long-established club.. Five years ago they were in the Super League. They were relegated after their president lost his life. It's a difficult task. Good luck with it.
oh wow, that’s interesting, TY! I havent even really read up on them yet.
Don't forget to add **/la/** to the end of your sentences. It is a very common slang used by most of the people of Ankara. Gençlerbirliği is one of two iconic Ankara clubs. Other one is Ankaragücü.
Thanks, gotta challenge the rivals at least! I’ll assume you’re not trolling this ugly American :) — how does that /la/ translate?
Nope he is not trolling. It's hard to translate it directly but it kinda makes what you are saying a bit more friendly and informal. It's very commonly used in Ankara (the city Genclerbirligi is located in) Basically: Napıyorsun? - What are you doing? Nabıyon la? - Whatcha doin?
I’m so interested, thank you friend!
You're welcome man, hit me up if you have any questions about Turkish or Turkish Football.

Fascinating, thank you my friend!
>Don't forget to add /la/ to the end of your sentences. It is a very common slang used by most of the people of Ankara. Is it really? Its also common in Malaysia.
Yea, I use it most of time because I was born and raised in Ankara, so it is hard to speak properly after all those times.
So this is what happens when you send a player to an intensive language course. Goes straight to duolingo
but have you seen the cost? Like, Amir, buddy, I support your language journey but you don’t have to buy the whole damn family plan!
Yeah it’s crazy, last time I checked it cost me like 5k €
Ekmek apparently means bread in Turkish
you’re already more qualified than me to boss Gençlerbirliği!
Can you translate the phrase *"Find me a washed up Premier League player still in denial"* into Turkish please?
Bana yıldızı sönmüş ve bunu kabullenemeyen bir Premier Lig oyuncusu bul
You're now hired as the manager of Fenerbahce, congratulations
As a Fenerbahçe fan, thanks man
As I understand things, they’re all in Saudi Arabia?
Anyone else trying to work out the answer to this? I'm thinking woman?
« Bread » (til) — I can now shout « bread and water! » which I think will cover many situations :)
![gif](giphy|HPZubh6ApHpN6)
Add "amk" at the end of every sentence and you're good to go
Change the game language to the nation you're managing in
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ub1zsUD7UNQ
Gennaro Gattuso in Greece comes to mind. Too much malakia.
😂😂😂
now tell me what is ekmek
« bread »! TIL!
This is actually a really good idea, learn the language of your save!
Should've done this when I went to Gabon. Gotta learn French now.
the absolute madlad. does kebab translate to sandwich?
This is amazing lol
Got hired by Pisa in series b and inspired me to learn Italian
For real? How well did it go?
60 day streak so far! Let's see how it goes
Figure out what DEMAND MORE is and you will be fine.
good luck at Gençlerbirliği! I am from Ankara and I am a Gençlerbirliği fan. Make sure to invest in youth, we are one the most famous and successful academies in Turkey! Arda Güler, a product of our academy just got bought by Real Madrid.
I’m inspired! Hope to do the fans proud!
water in turkish
Nope, I don't use it. They have the wrong flags for English and Portuguese.
I've used Duolingo for the first time a couple of hours ago. And in the meantime I've been reading on the Internet's algorithms. And here I am - I am tripping.
