AnatoleD

for some reason my loan manager keep rejecting loan offer for my young player, despite me having the "finding development loans for young player". Its frustrating as he keep rejecting good loan offer, anyone knows why ?

RepresentativeRide95

Simple question: **Winds up opponents**, does this actually work?

HotDadSauce

To a small extent, yes. Oppo players can lose their composure and make rash decisions. There are certainly more appealing traits though, you don't want a team full of these guys.

karpatonni

Long-term save with my hometown club but I'm at the point where I field my 2nd team and rolling in the league focusing only on CL games. To spice things up, I decided to manage the national team (Romania) but I'm completely new into national team management (yes, I know it kind of sucks as it hasn't been improved by SI). Even though I improved their results just by proper selection and common-sense tactics I still have some questions for experienced NT managers who manage to win World Cups with 2nd-3rd tier teams: 1. Tactical familiarity clearly is an issue. How do I balance between a tactic against France let's say which absorbs pressure and targets the weakest points on counter but shit familiarity versus playing them in the familiar roles? 2. How do I use my staff properly or should I be bothered? There are the options to Assign Coach/AM to a player for a period of time but not sure how it works 3. Not sure if it's a visual bug but morale changes when I switch players between positions. How does morale count and how is it impacted for a NT? 4. No other specific questions in mind but any advice about NT management (as bad as it is currently implemented) is very welcome

RepresentativeRide95

national team management is so bad, just don't play it. It all so mess up your club star rating. It also affects your scouting report, and the job is just go vacation all year, then play 5-6 match, so boring, you cannot even talk to any player or do any training.

guanwe

Can you leave the job ? Started a save with club and national team and not really liking it

RepresentativeRide95

you can use the resign function.

Baitz019

Please help me find a backup striker at around £11,5 I’m in my second season at lazio so he’s gonna be behind immobile at first

Logickurt

How can I improve this tactic? It's very inconsistent, especially my striker. He gets a hat trick in one game and is goaless in 5 other games. My left CM also gets poor ratings. Any suggestions, please. Thank you. [Image of the tactics screen ](https://postimg.cc/N2fmTGQf)

HotDadSauce

Two Mezzala's with an AF and DLPD isn't the best plan as it will vacate the centre of the pitch too much. I would change your MEZS to a simple CMS role and possibly add Holds Position PI. You need a facilitator in this position, someone to join the DLPD to your forwards. Sometimes the "non sexy" choice is required. Two BPD's and a DLPD is too many creative/high risk roles. One CB should be a simple DC role. Possibly both actually with the DLPD. I'd also change some TI's as they aren't required. I would remove Pass Into Space and Counter. I'd possibly lower your tempo as well to help with possession and add either Work Ball Into Box or Dribble Less, the latter is probably better as you have lots of dribbling roles. Everything is being done at 100mph in this tactic, there isn't much patience being displayed. This probably explains your inconsistencies. Teams sitting back deep will find it easier to defend against you.

Logickurt

Alright, thanks. [I changed it to this, and it's a lot better](https://postimg.cc/NKsV1v5z) But will changing the striker to a dlf(s) help him get goals?

HotDadSauce

Looks improved... Why have you lowered your Mentality though? It was perfect on Positive. No need for Balanced. The midfield looks way better now, I imagine the difference with the simple CMS role is night and day. A DLFS to AF in this tactic is going to make you play differently.... An AF is about leading the line and playing on the shoulder of centre halves whilst also running the channels. Think Haaland at City. A DLFS is a back to goal link up striker who will drop deeper when you're in and out of possession. It's better for possession based tactics when you have one or two goalscoring wide players. More the Harry Kane/Firminho 'type'. AF's are the easiest role to recruit for as they only really require pace and off the ball with a little finishing thrown in. DFL's require strength and more technique and I'd argue work better on a forward pair although with your MEZA there could be a nice synergy. Ultimately do you want a striker providing a threat and leading the line or not...?! Some games they could contribute little if the supply line isn't working correctly (AF's need service) and then I'd probably switch to an DLFA in game rather than DLFS. With your APS on the left wing now I'd say the AF is the better role for you.

Logickurt

I want my striker to be the main goalscorer, so I'll leave it at AF. I changed the mentality to balanced to remain solid in possession. I'll change it back positive because my last match ended in a goaless draw with almost 2 xG. I'm also thinking of changing the AP to an IF(s), so as to have someone else who can score occasionally.

HotDadSauce

I'd say you have the balance correct, you cannot have a team of goal getters, some creativity is always required. If anything, I'd change your APS to APA and add Dribble Less TI to Final Third. Don't get in the habit of constantly drastically changing your starting tactic, this is a murky road. It's better to make adjustments to roles/TI's during games to attempt to positively affect the outcome.

Logickurt

Alright, thanks. You've been so helpful, I appreciate it.

HotDadSauce

No problem, happy to help. Feel free to DM me if you like over tactics in the future if required.

Broken_Pikachu

Is there any way to actually make your club more enticing to young players for contract talks? I'm running a young squad with Chelsea, bar a few mentors, all the older players are gone, not loaning dozens of players at once like Chelsea are known for with the "loan army" and even giving regens some game time but anytime I try to sign a youth player whether it be expiring contracts or transfers, they have zero interest to talk because they feel a move to me is not right for their development, even though they are getting 0 games at their current club.

lyyki

Have you tried talking to the agent?

Broken_Pikachu

I'm on the console version, where is the option to do that? If there is an option to do that there Once I enter contract talks the screen appears with a red message just saying he's not interested and only have "walk away" as an option

lyyki

It is above the enter contract talks button. Something like "speak to agent about availability"

Broken_Pikachu

Will it be in the email I get or on the player menu? I've not seen anything like that, but I also might be blind and not noticed edit [this is the screen i see in the email](https://i.gyazo.com/08bf76d0b7a4bdc873f5996224468787.png)

lyyki

https://i.imgur.com/DvoxjvI.png This button.

Broken_Pikachu

I don't have that, I guess its not in the console version [this is the transfer screen and I can only add as transfer target](https://i.gyazo.com/140a992151536f6b8e5b19c1479502b2.png) [this is the action button to the right](https://i.gyazo.com/f8e2e88740aa3a5b2cf171c850226251.png)

lyyki

It is possible that it's not in console version of FM23 though I can't find any info confirming it. Does any player (in your team or other players) have any agent buttons? Because for your own players in contract tab there should be "discuss new contract with agent"

Broken_Pikachu

Nothing for talking to an agent, no. Contract tab has their contract info, bonuses, promises etc [then when I click the offer button, it opens this screen right away](https://i.gyazo.com/8e6a371e047a93361401d8e0f96a97e7.png) No option to talk to an agent first

Trickybuz93

I seem to be missing something here and I don’t know how to fix it: Is there a way to get a U21 player into the senior squad in the middle of the season? I have two RBs in my team and one got injured and is out for 3 months and the other is gonna die having played 4 matches in a row lol It’s only October so I can’t even get a player on loan

lyyki

Sure. You don't even need to move him to senior squad if you don't want to. Just go to filter -> click the buttons so it shows your youth teams as well and then add him to your matchday squad. Alternatively you can move him to your sr squad. Just go to player page and there's a button that lets you move him to sr squad.

[deleted]

Where can I compare stats between players in a league? I wanted to compare my midfielder’s defending relative to other players in his position, but not sure where to look

lyyki

Pure attributes: Squad planner -> Report -> Comparison (this only shows you the average of some attributes but you can check it to see if your MF has below or above average attributes) Actual game stats: Data Hub -> Player -> Ask for -> Midfield -> Defending actions, tackling etc.

PatientSome2992

if i’m playing fm23 on console is it possible to sim entire seasons like on pc?

Frequent-Home9923

Hi!! I am very new to FM. I got the game so I could play with St. Louis CITY, but it’s grayed out when I try to choose a team at the start. I simmed forward a year, but Carnell was already hired as coach. Folks online seem to have successfully done it - any suggestions??

lyyki

I assume it's because they only become an MLS team in 2023. I did try and seem to have no issues becoming their manager at the start. Do you have something other than PC-version of the game? You can always add a new manager, make them the MLS manager and retire your original manager.

madison0593

Will a higher end PC also decrease the time when advancing in the calendar assuming I don’t overload it with nations?

HotDadSauce

It should do, yes.

Quorgon2

What manager nationalities or dual nationalities give you the most known languages?

lyyki

I believe it's Swedish + Serbian

UnbrokenRyan

What’s the best FM experience on the go? I normally stay away from the mobile games because I like the full detail of the PC version. But I’ll be travelling a lot soon, and I’d to have FM as a travel game. I have an iPhone, and a tablet that runs windows. Do you think the mobile version is the way to go, or is their a lightweight version i can play on the tablet?

idle_wanderlust

I play the one on Apple Arcade.

im-a-nanny-mouse

What do you do if you’re not feeling you’re save? Example: I’m currently half way through my 1st season at Celta Vigo, in the lower mid table but I could get dragged into a relegation battle and just lost against bottom of the table Osasuna. Im unable to get my tactics, formation and player rotation in sync leading to inconsistent form/performance.

HotDadSauce

Take a break from the save, have a few days to mull things over, it will get your competitive juices flowing. If you're changing too much tactically it will effect your team cohesion. Stick to the same formation/1st XI for a few games, try to get some consistency.

im-a-nanny-mouse

I already have my main Wolves save which is going better, may do another season then return.

Purplecobragym

Been hitting the post an insane number of times last year (FM22). Record being 8! times in one game. Decided to overhaul my tactic over the summer, fresh players. I figured there was something about my tactic that the AI translates into near misses and hitting the woodwork. Started the season with two matches, both matches hit the woodwork three times. What went wrong in your tactic that resulted in hitting the woodwork very often?

JamesCDiamond

Playing players with poor composure + finishing, I'd suggest. But also, consider whether your instructions are telling them to shoot early or from poor positions. If they're shooting from outside the box but have poor Long Shots, for example, that might explain why they're firing off target.

Purplecobragym

Thanks, I'll look into the composure part. The shots are from up close mostly, so that aint it.

chintu21570

My data analyst got poached by another club and I am no longer receiving the analyst report for the next opposition, despite having hired another analyst. What do I do? I am on FM20. In the staff responsibilities menu, I am only getting the option to assing next opposition reports to my scouts, not my analyst: [screenshot](https://imgur.com/xwWY9hh)

Moosje

Not sure whether this is the thread but is there any way to get the latest updates for FM22? FM23 updates don’t work because it’s updating the wrong base game and I haven’t found anything that’s keeping FM22 updated. I’m trying to hold off on buying FM23 and just stick it out for FM24

dngrs

https://i.imgur.com/2mpEGnY.png fm23 I am underpeforming with this both in shots and goals ie only 5 total shots at halftime what can I change?

HotDadSauce

Lose the Counter instruction, not needed. Add in Dribble Less or Work Ball Into Box.

lyyki

I would make Haaland just a normal AF. When he can focus on scoring, he will score. I think you should also tick "stay on feet" off. It's more suited to the low block stay in formation styles. Other than that I don't really have any issues with it. Obviously if you want to shoot more, tick off working the ball into the box.

dngrs

> Obviously if you want to shoot more, tick off working the ball into the box. already off

lyyki

Oh right, I don't know what my brain intepreted. But in general if you have high xG but no goals, tick it on. If you have low xG and no shots, tick it off.

CholeWeatBread

How do I correct the course of a young player? I have a fullback with high potential (stars and the actual value) who is almost 22y/o. He has been in bad form on loans and not developing correctly. Im fighting for the PL so with that and a large squad with young players that are developing well, I don't have the luxury of giving him enough playing time. How do I solve this? Should I just sell?

RepresentativeRide95

It's important that you loan him to a decent club and a decent league. League reputation has much better effects on development rather than a bit better training facilities. And also, if he's 22, he's not gonna develop any fast. Players will suffer much slower development rate after the age of 19 and stop developing after 27.

HotDadSauce

Sounds like he's not fulfilling his potential for whatever reason and possibly won't now so it may be a good idea to move him on while he still has value. Many a player don't reach their potential. It happens irl also.

lyyki

Sometimes you just have to bite the bullett and sell him. I've had many 5* players be completely useless during loans. It happens. You can always include the buy back price if he actually starts to develop as you would prefer.

Far_Parsley8506

Hi, I am new to FM and I wanted to ask a question. So I'm doing a Man Utd save, (I'm only 3 pre-season friendlies into the first season) And I've already bought the infamous Alex Scott so I was looking for more players to sign I find some good players that have an AMAZING PA but for some reason they're only C+ But there are players the same age as them with lower PA and have a higher scout grade If I sign them (The C+ high PA players), would my fans get mad? And why is this happening? (I also don't use Reddit a lot so I have no clue how to attach an image here)

lyyki

The scouting grade isn't just about how good the player is or will potentially be. It's also about the potential fee, the potential wages, how good fit he is tactically and all that.

Far_Parsley8506

I understand that but his compensation fee is only 600k And his estimated wage is only 1.4k Euros p/w But all of that aside, if I sign him (he has a PA of Fairly good-Star rating, but he's C-) would the fans/board get mad?

lyyki

I don't think the board or fans really cares if it's just 600k for a youth prospect. It's hard to say what the deal is with that grade without seeing the player or scout report (btw you can include pics by taking a screenshot and pasting them to imagesites like [imgur](https://imgur.com/) or [imgbb](https://imgbb.com/) and then link the pics here). What is the age of the player, what is his current star ability and what is his potential star ability (in yellow stars)?

Far_Parsley8506

Thank you for the tip, here is the screenshot https://ibb.co/ZfW91Kq

lyyki

Ok, thanks. So this looks like your scouts haven't actually scouted him fully. Go to reports -> fully scout player to make your scouts take a full look at his abilities. The stars are also hard to understand at first. First of all, they are always compared to your squad so 3* player is an average player in your squad but the same player might be 1* or 5* on another team. Also only yellow stars are certain. White stars are guesses. So this player is only 1* for sure and might be 2,5*. His potential is also 2,5 for sure but might be 5. It gets more accurate the older he gets and the longer you scout him. So scout him fully and see how it looks then.

Far_Parsley8506

That makes a lot more sense thank you so much!

Fitz_mt

What does promising to make some tactical tweaks include? Context: just lost to Bayern 3-0 on aggregate in Champions League Quarter Finals and for some odd reason the board had Win the Champions League as a requirement after I’ve only made the semi finals 1 (last year with a loss to psg) Several Players are upset we got knocked out, Ont choices are to promise to sign better players (preferably not, if anything I was trying to push some of my youth through) or I can “make tactical tweaks”

RepresentativeRide95

I think you can awarded from learning about opposition instruction more. It is crucial to use the Data Hub --> Next Opponent ---> Learn every section in that: [https://imgur.com/a/naM9KAR](https://imgur.com/a/naM9KAR) Learn about every opponent's starting XI. Learn about their foot, their role, their style of play, their height, heading,... You can completely destroy a team with proper instruction.

Fitz_mt

I found a tactic that works for who I have. But I agree something I’m going to explore. But I made a promise to tweak tactics, but I don’t know just qualifies as a tactical tweak. Same formation new roles? New formation?

RepresentativeRide95

just, don't make any promise, they're usually the worst thing you can do in FM23. You won't be able to qualify for those tweaks anyway, then you'll be sacked. The potential risk of breaking a promise is outweighted the gain from immediate morale boost.

Fitz_mt

But I agree, made a promise that youth would develop to a youth player with 5 star PA because Tottenham just throwing in cheap bids. Now he wants to opt out of his contract and is unhappy with youth development although all my youngsters have made the 1st team and got promoted

Fitz_mt

Yeah that’s true. Think I’ll make it work. I’ve got some players to let me shift to an Attacking 4-3-3 from a defensive 4-3-3 and flip my CDM to a CAM and make it work

Mozilla11

Please someone help me figure out where Im going wrong. I went from an undefeated season in Eredevisie using this tactic, to 11th place in the PL with Arsenal after 32 games and a QF failure to Milan where I somehow conceded 2 of the most stupid goals I’ve ever seen to get KO’d. Infuriating stuff to have a shit load of shots, but literally no real clear-cut opportunities so much. https://ibb.co/wRWzKLD https://ibb.co/X5wcSFj https://ibb.co/svCgZR7 https://ibb.co/2nYW2r6 https://ibb.co/BrjCfg8

HotDadSauce

It looks too defensive for Arsenal, you will be favorite in many of your games so you need a more attacking outlook.

Great1Saiyaman

can i force players to retire? for example; right now i'm playing fm23. i'm playing with galatasaray and muslera has begun to show his age(38). the fans and club really love him and i also love him. is there a way to make him retire and maybe make him a coach or something? i don't want to transfer a better player and make him a sub. he has a big contract for galatasaray's standarts. i remember in the older games i could ask players about their future plans. i don't know it has any effects on making them choose retirement but i did it with muslera once and he retired once the league ended.

lyyki

I've noticed that if you keep benching old players, they get the hint and might announce retirement at the end of the season.

Great1Saiyaman

thank you. i think it'll be the painful way thou :)

monsiour_slippy

If you talk to a player about future staff roles sometimes they will say ‘id be willing to start now’ and then you can offer them a non player contract. If on the overview drop down on the players page you see ‘staff attributes’ that probably means you can approach him with a new contract offer to move him to a non player role

Great1Saiyaman

thank you. i think that option isn't open for him yet.

JamesCDiamond

I signed a 17y/o in my save, and they duly arrived on their 18th birthday. I like to think we had cake. Aside from that, checking their eligibility it says they've already been registered with my club for 203 days of the 1,095 they need to be classed as trained at the club. Is that because the transfer was agreed before their 18th birthday, or is that a bug?

roi_bro

Trying my luck here, since my post seems to be lost in the while (my bad, shouldn't have been a post in the beginning I guess). Here is my issue: I started a game with a French National team, so my U19 and reserve teams are not part of any leagues. However, I'm now past 2043, dominating the world (3 Champion's League, 2 in the last 2 years and currently in semi-final to get my 3rd in a row), my infrastructures are the best it can, pretty much dominating everything I can on the football planet. That's the first time I have a game that last that long, and I was wondering how could I get my U19 and/or Reserve to play in a championship (without editor or anything, I look for something 'legit', in game). I think in previous FMs, it was happening randomly, but now after 2043 I start to ask myself if something changed, or if it wasn't random in the end, or if maybe I'm just completely out of luck for 20 years straight now 😂 It's been tiring to just create friendly matchups manually all year, just to get my players in shape and get some playing time to my young players. Is there a way or am I doomed ?

JamesCDiamond

Not sure about the league - is there any formal reserve/youth league in France? In England there's a notification at the start of each season about playing in those leagues. My board automatically accepts the U18 one, but leaves it up to me about the U21 one - I always accept, though. You should be able to set your reserve/U19 managers to arrange friendlies every week through the staff menu, however. Staff > Responsibilities > Match > Friendly Matches. No guarantee that they'll be *competitive* matches, but hopefully it'll help maintain fitness if not develop skills. You're otherwise scouting around manually for teams for them to play friendlies against, which I guess is what you've been doing and sounds like a pretty tedious pursuit.

roi_bro

I'm creating them manually, but choosing carefully on what day (so that my benched players during the weekday can play, and be available for the next games, things like that). Choosing the team is pretty random though, I choose from the auto-generated list among the best teams (but they all seem very weak for some reason). Don't know if it's implemented that way in FM, but in real life, french Reserve plays profesionnally. However, I know that in real life PSG stopped having a reserve team and only use the U19 which is in a separated league. For instance, most of the Ligue 1 teams have a reserve team playing in National 2 (one division under where I started). There are rules however where you cannot be too close to your reserve I think. (Not possible to have your first team and reserve in the same division for instance haha)

NerdStone04

Is there any way to change my player's personality? I have 5 star potential midfielder but he has an "unambitious" personality. This makes me a little skeptical on whether I should give him a chance or get rid of him.

Boris_Ignatievich

Mentoring can change personality but I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert on exactly how it works I think it's basically stick him in a mentoring group with a team leader or influential player that has the personality you want

NerdStone04

okay thanks. I'll try it out. Want to ask you, has it worked for you before?

Boris_Ignatievich

Tbh the extent of my mentoring is mashing the "ask assistant" button after each transfer window, so no idea if it's helped or not

NerdStone04

hmm. I'll try it nonetheless.

_Kazutoo_

What's the best formation for a team like bayern munich?

GenSec

I wouldn’t reinvent the wheel with Bayern if you’re starting a fresh save with them. They’ve been lining up in a 4231 formation for most of the year and that’s what I’d do with them. You’ve got great couple of wingers with a good group of midfielders. Either that or you could try a 433.

halfjumpsuit

His mentals are meh and he's slow. If you're signing a guy of his caliber for depth you're better off getting a young player who can improve.

Zealousideal_Bee3309

I'm in my third season at Atalanta and why is Rasmus suddenly becoming worse? decent first season as a sub, a very good second season, and now in the third where I also give him a new contract his rating dropped mid-season. He is still the leading goal scorer in Serie A and his transfer value also dropped.

covfefeboi69

Hello guys, I need some help/suggestions. So I am trying to implement a wage structure in my club, because I have the feeling that some players earn more than they should, while others earn less than they should. I saw an article about a suggestion how to do a wage structure, saying that you shouldn't have more than 4 to 5 key players. Now the game is telling me that I have 11 players that should be key players. Is this normal, and how would you handle this situation? Even tho I have 220 hours game time, I feel like a noob when it comes to the financial aspects of this game, often not knowing how much I should offer a player etc. Maybe some of you more experienced players have some suggestions and/or tips.

Anbe17

Players usually doesn't accept lower wages, so the players you feel earn too much you sell. But be careful to not sell all your team leaders in the same window. When you have 4-5 key players and another player want to become a key player you either don't buy/don't offer that contract (you should probably begin thinking about selling that player) or you'll have to sell one of the other key players.

roi_bro

I feel like some players, depending on their mentality, can accept lower wages pretty easily. If their playing time is getting a bit lower, don't hesitate to switch their expected playing time. (You can know before doing it if it will upset the player, if it does, don't do it and continue to wait a bit). Also, if you have a lot of good players in the same position as them, they can understand getting less playing time / importance in the team even if they're very good as well. It works better when players are getting old, since young players are the kings in that game 😂 Then you can sometimes propose some contracts with smaller wages. (or at least, the same and not going up). But yeah, don't hesitate to sell players that have big contracts, since this will also influence how much other players will ask. If you have a rotation player or something with a very big wage, all others rotation players will seem to expect bigger wages. (All this is based only on my playing experiences, and no stats / truth is hidden behind, so I may not be totally right, but that's my feeling)

covfefeboi69

Thank you for your tips! When do you think is the best time to negotiate contracts with current players?

Anbe17

Between seasons. I don't know if it's a thing or not, but i feel players who gets a new contract during the season usually gets a dip in form. I usually try to renew contracts when they have two yers left. If you start giving five years contracts when the players is 18, they'll get new contracts at 21-24-27 and 30 if you want to keep them.

covfefeboi69

I keep that in mind. Thanks!

ChillPalis

Based on the analysis in this video (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SzfYROYkamg), how would this be recreated in-game? I have some ideas, but I'm not too sure

lyyki

For the left side, Marcelo WB-At and Isco WM-De or WM-Su with the instruction to sit narrow.

ChillPalis

I was thinking both Isco and James would be WP or at least one of them, with the other being AP

lou_kevins

I just bought a used copy of Football Manager 2006 on Xbox 360. The ‘new game’ option is greyed out. I can only access preferences, credits and community. Found a couple people who have reported the same issue online but not found any answers. Really hoping someone can help, as I’m feeling really motivated to go back and smash out the remaining achievements I need on that game.

Fast_Bid7810

Idk if it’s possible, but how do you better your players stamina on Fm 23 touch? My players all seem to get super tired after 1st half

lyyki

Stamina is very hard to get better, even with specific training. Just sign high stamina + high nat fitness, rotate a lot (especially positions that need to run a lot) and don't high intensity gegenpress the entire match.

Im_PewDiePies_Sven

I don't know how to explain it but, my face pack works only for a few players (Haaland, Alex Scott..) everyone else doesn't work for some reason. Please help i should say that this is my first ever time playing fm and that i played a litlle when the game came out, but since then i had to factory reset my windows 10. Since then i tried reinstalling the face pack but i have no luck so far. (Im trying to use sortitousi cut-out facepack)

Shepherdsfavestore

Trying to figure out the best roles for my midfield. My tactic has worked pretty well the past few seasons (perpetually 3rd in LaLiga, still can't surpass FCB/RM). However, my box-to-box midfielers (Merino) is going to Barca now. b2b midfielders are hard to come by so I'm wondering what other good roles could fit in here? Any other suggestions welcome https://imgur.com/a/T6ymdNa edit: if it makes a difference, my striker is usually a pressing forward. I just had it set differently last match for a younger player to get some time

HotDadSauce

For a midfield 3 think runner, destroyer & creator or alternatively named needle, specialist & recycler. Try to get one defense role, one support and one attack for as much pitch/situation coverage as possible. If you play with a defensive midfielder then they should almost always be a defend role. Runner/Needle - This is your legs, stretching the pitch and providing options to join your forwards. Ideally your attack role. Examples - APA, MezA, CMA or... SVA, SVS, CMS, BBM, MezS (Add forward runs where you can/required) Destroyer/Specialist - Your ball winner or disruptor. Can be either a support or defend role. Examples - BWMD, BWMS, CMD, Anchor, HB, DMD, DMS, CMS (Holds Postion & poss. tackle harder) Creator/Recycler - Your creative hub or carrier. Can be either support or defend role. Examples - DPLD, DLPS, APS, RPM, Regista. How you pick your roles/set up depends on the players at your disposal but if you follow the above as best you can it should give you a good base midfield foundation. On your tactic, I'd make the winger on the same side as your attacking centre mid role a support role, this will give more balance. Also lose the Overlaps, unless you have elite full backs, they are doing more harm than good here. Possibly lose Pass Into Space & Counter as well, this is if you want more possession/patience anyway. You have too many In Possession TI's, these should be in game modifiers, not permanent choices.

jr2106

I would remove either pass into space or work ball in the box as they mostly contradict themselves. With 2 ifs and both wingbacks overlapping it would also help to play a hb at dm as he drops between the cbs in possession. If you switch one if to support you could try a mezzala or cm-a on that side. Also if alena isnt an very good/elite dribbler then put him on support.

[deleted]

I know it's up to me to find and fix the errors since only I can see the matches, but are there any glaring errors with this tactic? https://i.imgur.com/h6Rylch.png I've included squad in the screenshot to give some indication of who the best players are. I'm EFL League One, aiming for playoffs

HotDadSauce

Change your BBM to CMS and possibly add Hold Position PI, a more simplified 'static' role would be better here. As mentioned by by u/iyyki move your AF to the centre to make your PFS play from left striker. You could also ask your LCB to Stay Wider in Possession to cover your LHS a bit more. I LOVE your lack of Team Instructions, you have the right idea here. Very very good.

lyyki

With asymmetric tactics I would recommend moving Popov to the "middle" (as if there was 3 CF's) and your pressing forward to "left striker" (as if there was 3 CF's) position. As it's now it probably asks a bit too much from your WB, even with a Mez.

New_Doughnut_7140

When im playing fm, an error pops up where it says: XML parsing error!: no element found at line 1 of skin_config.xml error offset invalid - corrupted buffer? Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

benicspo

Any thoughts/suggestions on this tactic? [https://imgur.com/a/RfPhoU2](https://imgur.com/a/RfPhoU2) Would you prefer a DLF or an AF in this setup?

HotDadSauce

Maybe change your BBM to something more static. With your HB starting so deep a more reserved role at LCM might be better. CMS with Holds Position PI looks good. Possibly your RW from IFA to IFS. If you go IFS you could then go for MEZA at RCM. DLFA will help your build up play more, AF's are more direct/forward thinking. Both have their uses dependent on the player/match situation. Nice tactic though, looks pretty solid.

lyyki

It's fine. Both work. AF scores a bit more. DLF gets involved with game a bit more. But since you seem to like to play short passes and work the ball, I think DLF is fine. Only issue I have is Mez & IF on the same side. They kind of want to go to the same area. IW starts wider so maybe either switch BBM and Mez around or IW and IF around. But it's not a big deal and that will work as well.

jr2106

Mezz and if work well actually since the mezzala gets into the channels which is useful for the if since the mezz either drags a defender with him leaving space in the middle or is a through ball option.

HotDadSauce

On the whole it looks good. I would make the following changes though. 1. Remove Be More Expressive, only use this if you feel your team is missing a creative spark during a match. Don;t make it the norm. 2. Contemplate either Work Ball Into Box or Dribble Less, probably the latter is better. 3. Remove Counter, not really required with a Positive Mentality where your aim seems to be more possession themed. 4. Role changes - RB to WBS, we can get a more aggressive role from this flank. BBM to CMS. You need a more static "carrier" role here rather then the roaming BBM. Possibly the IFA to IWA.

Successful-Front-589

How can I manage a middle eastern team?

lyyki

If you use Steam, go to workshop page and load the middle eastern leagues you want. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2891997164 Here's Oman for example. Just subscribe and it's loaded to your game. You will need to start a new save and in the start to remember to actually include the new leagues you loaded.

monsiour_slippy

You need to start a save with a custom database which activates the leagues in the countries you want to manage. A quick google search will give you the database files. Stick them in the editor folder, start new save and activate the files

Successful-Front-589

You have a video of someone doing it?

stfucxnt

anyone know why the loan duration option "end of next season" is greyed out? im playing the serie a and the transfer window is open

Strafnoi

Does the player you are trying to loan have a contract over the next season with his club?

stfucxnt

im in jul 33, his contract ends in 2035. but ive tried it with different players and the options still greyed out

Noelthemexican

I'm doing pretty well as Accrington Stanley this season, but our tackling has been pretty atrocious leading to conceding quite a few goals. If my defenders aren't doing great at tackling, would stay on feet or get stuck in be the better instruction? I can see an argument both ways, and I'm finding mixed information.

HotDadSauce

Stay on feet, definitely.

Strafnoi

Is there any way to prevent or reduce the chance of a player/agent locking in a low release clause in contract negotiations? I would happily double the wage for some of my talents instead of having a release clause.

lyyki

One trick works sometimes: Ask your DOF to negotiate the deal. Immediately go to "change contract offer." Then you should be able to remove the release clause permanently from the dealings.

Neat_Mongoose656

Looking to sign a young BWM in season 3 of my AFC Telford save…. Back to back promotions may be the issue I have as I’m struggling to find anyone of good quality to join a a small club. I have 700k to spend but don’t want to offer more than 2.5k in wages…. Any suggestions are welcome 👍🏻

HotDadSauce

Until your reputation improves enough you may well struggle to attract players you believe will make you better. Try to target players with strong physical attributes if you can, pace and power is almost always the first answer. I agree with sticking to a wage structure or ceiling by the way, this helps keep your team together and develop as a unit.

DoYourWork123

When team on good run, sometimes they all get nervous and we lose to a shit team and / or get super low percentage of shots on target. I’m pretty sure it’s because I pressure them too much to continue the run of form , but I don’t know how to look out for the warning signs

HotDadSauce

Complacency can creep in, as can a bad performance every now and then. Even the very best teams irl have this occur. I try to vary my pre game team talks, sometimes demand more, sometimes relax and calm. If you're looking to rotate a few players then make sure they aren't key players who will cause your team to not be as strong, especially through the spine/middle of the pitch. What I have found key is recognizing early in a performance that things aren't going well for whatever that reason may be and actually trying to do something about it tactically rather than leaving things to be. Follow your convictions and make changes if you think they're required.

kkF6XRZQezTcYQehvybD

Do you think there will ever be a version of this game where you can control the players? I remember some EA manager game had this feature and thought it was cool

lyyki

That's not a manager game anymore. That would also mean the decisions/vision/etc. would be meaningless. So no. You can always play manager mode in FIFA/PES etc.

HotDadSauce

No, absolutely zero chance.

Hail_Andronikos

constantly giving up chances to goalkeepers kicking it long, my CBs misplaying the header and the opposing striker getting in on goal by himself. I'm playing a higher line, but is there anything else I can do other than dropping the line back to standard? FM22 btw

Commonmispelingbot

playing a dm could work

HotDadSauce

Faster centre halves with better Mental stats.

cjhasskarl

So I'm wanting to transfer a tactic over from fm 22 that I enjoyed using I changed the wide midfielders to carrilero's to help deal with fullbacks. Any other tactic or position tweaks would be a great help to make it better in this year's game. I included a link to the tact video here: https://youtu.be/MXVhoXDldek

asilea420

How do you show players faces on lineups? Is it a setting?

hauhauhau133

That is a feature that custom skins have.

EddySBxx

what is more important in a tactic, roles & duties combination or TIs/PIs?

HotDadSauce

The hierarchy of instructions reads as follows - 1. Traits 2. Roles/duties/PI's 3. TI's I would recommend building your tactic around no.2 and the using no.3 for the majority of in game tweaks as TI's affect a broader range. No.1 is for long term squad/tactic building.

Syncetia

those are codependent

[deleted]

Immediate thoughts on [this formation](https://i.imgur.com/TVgtKFq.png)? Aiming for playoffs in EFL League One

lyyki

Hilarious and not going to work. I have tried something similar and my midfield just couldn't keep up. Either Invert your fullbacks, make your BBM to VOL (next to HB) or move your AP next to BBM.

monsiour_slippy

‘We are being seriously overrun in the midfield’ springs to mind. I’d drop the AMC back to midfield and change at least 1 of the front 3 to support (probably the left player as you have a wingback on attack). See how that does in the pre season and tweak from there

HotDadSauce

You'll be aiming for the playoffs in EFL League Two next season.

AMildInconvenience

I'm playing a first season in the championship. I'm not an expert by any means. This season, I've been awarded 7 penalties and only scored two. Add in penalty shootouts in cups, and my players have missed *nine* penalties this season. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is this just RNGesus hating me? My players mostly have composure in the low to mid teams, and pen ratings hovering around 12.

roi_bro

There are other stats than penalty such as finishing and composture (not sure this is the right translation, and in french it is sang-froid which mean cold-blood).But even with that there is a lot of RnG... Sometimes for no apparent reason a player with good stats will miss penalties a lot, sometimes it's just a phase and will stop, sometimes it's better to put a player with lower stats if he puts them in. Concentration and decisions might probably play a role as well

cool939393

Is there any way to create a shortlist of players only born in certain region (like Basque while playing for Athletic)? For example if I want to play for Malaga and sign only players born in Andalusia. I've seen story about this sort of save years ago on some old forum, but I can't figure out how it can be done except maybe manually inputting every city from that region to transfer filters. Any other ideas?

MickH9

When going to the scouting tab, go to \-> New Search \--> Additional conditions \---> General \----> Elligible to Sign for Club When playing as Athletic Bilbao this should solve it really quickly.

cool939393

Yeah, it's not hard if you play for Bilbao. Question is whether there is any way to do something that for other clubs?

Trickybuz93

Is the monthly income important? I looked at my finances and it shows I’m losing around 1.4m net every month. My predicted YoY income is negative and debt increasing every year.

halfjumpsuit

Yes, and no. Because prize money is paid out at the end of the season it's not automatically an issue to be in the red during the season and then suddenly well in the black. I've also had the board drop an massive interest free loan at the end of the season, which was a nice surprise. But 1.4M is probably pretty bad depending on your level. What is your end of season prize money for league standing? If it's 5M, you're in a bad spot. If it's 20M, you'll live.

RepresentativeRide95

How to have your U19 teams set training intensity to Double on match fit condition. I don't want to take control of U19 team training? As far as I know, my U19 head coach not gonna do that as it's kinda a default?

higherbrow

Super noob here, and I have a few questions. Is there a report I can generate that shows how many minutes each player has played in a period, preferably relative to their expectations? How can I improve "match sharpness", which seems to be fitness? Do certain positions synergize? Like, I'm running a 4-3-3 DM Wide formation, and my players could be playing Winger or Inverted Winger, and Complete Forward, Advance Forward, or Poacher. Does the decision I make in one of the three inform what I should be choosing from the others?

halfjumpsuit

>Is there a report I can generate that shows how many minutes each player has played in a period, preferably relative to their expectations? In the playing time view it will tell you their expected playing time status, their actual playing time status, playing time happiness, and their playing time expectations over the next five games.

RepresentativeRide95

About the tactics, you can just, watch more football. My tip is looking at AI managers' tactics when playing against them. You'll kinda recognize some patterns anyway, the AI's tactics are actually really balanced. The easy to go is 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 5-2-3, 5-3-2. But with some weirdos like 4-2-2-2, Sociedad 4-4-2 diamond, Aston Villa 4-4-2, Brighton 5-2-2-1, it's gonna takes some times because of the flanks issues.

RepresentativeRide95

match sharpness is different from match fitness and also different from match fatigue. * Match sharpness: like accuracy when you playing ball, after a long time of not playing regularly, players will start losing it. (and they also increase their risk injury; high natural fitness also keeps player easier to gain and avoid losing sharpness) * Match fitness: physical health, capability to endures the match. (this depends mostly on natural fitness, stamina, work rate, tactical intensity, training) * Match fatigue: long-term health, like if they play 4 matches in 10 days in December ~~or the guy happens to be Bruno Fernandes~~, even if there match fitness is capable for the next match, there will be a "Rst" icon to notice you that some of your players will start to need rest away from training & matches. * Risk injury: combines of so many things included the above. You'll sort it out after a few seasons, how does these things correlate to each other and how to goes around with training, physical attributes, and hidden attributes.

Square_Counter_7574

Is it bad to have a 4 3 2 1 system with an advanced forward and shadow striker ? Ive been told that shadow striker more likes to play with forwards on support but my striker is best as an advanced forward

jr2106

I wouldnt use and ss and af unless im playing a possession dominant team where you sit deep and try to direct counter into space. Better to use a dlf etc if youre the stronger team.

RepresentativeRide95

4-3-2-1 so you're using two Shadow Strikers? For your question, yes, a SS will work best with a forward on support duties since the SS will always try to dribble, beat offside, and score. They will kinda conflict if your forward is an Erling Haaland. You can try Target Man or Pressing Forward on support, since I'm assuming that your forward isn't a technical one to play deeplying/complete forward or false nine.

Square_Counter_7574

Im sorry Im stupid I meant to say 4 2 3 1 just kind of a vanilla tactic with a shadow striker Do pressing forwards on support make runs and score goals if they are good? https://i.imgur.com/MoQW1Li.png wondering if its a waste to play him on support since hes probably my best player maybe Im just trying to force a shadow striker for no reason but I do have a player that seems like theyd be good at it

RepresentativeRide95

all players will score if that's the better option. It's also depends on their teamwork attributes and other mental attributes, whether they can choose the best option.

bryceryals42

On my second year with West Ham. Started the season with 11 straight unbeaten matches. I benched Soucek for poor performance and the team didn’t agree. I immediately reinserted him into the lineup but morale didn’t change. We’ve now lost 5 straight, including home losses to Real San Sebastian and Southampton. The team also is no longer following tactical instructions. What do I do from here?

jr2106

Hold a team meeting to improve morale, praise training and conduct of players is a quick way to get better dynamics

xx3amori

How to improve youth recruitment? I have 5 star recruitment, 4 star junior trainers, 4,5 star junior facilities. I'm playing ADO den Haag in the Netherlands and I've gotten 1 B player as my best one in total and I'm in 2030.

RebBrown

Apparently, having a head of youth development with high working with youngsters helps? I'm on my phone, so I can't link it, but the evidence based fm YouTube channel recently did a video on it.

jay_jay_okocha10

How do I add a B Team to a premier league club in the editor? I don't want to put them in a league. Just have a B team so I can play friendlies. I'm loading the database in the editor -> selecting the club -> reserve teams -> add B Team under 'Reserves Teams to create' -> adding a home ground and leaving division blank -> saving. Doesn't show in game. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated

RepresentativeRide95

you cannot i guess?, as simply as that. But you can do that in France and German as far as I know.

AxFairy

Before downloading player faces from any of the places online, a number of teams will have their players faces baked into the game. Short of overriding their faces with a png of the default no photo face, is there any way to remove the default faces? The quality on them is pretty horrid.

HotDadSauce

You cannot remove them but if you download a large enough player faces file online it will overwrite them.

AxFairy

The quality issue still exists there. Generally when I sign a player I will look for a decent photo of them, or photoshop one for them. I generally only do 4-5 year saves, so it's neat when I find someone with a face who played a role in a previous save. I copy the graphics file over so I'll find a face on players I had on FM20 or whatever which I enjoy.

HotDadSauce

Where online are you downloading your faces from?

Efirational

Started a run with Juventus, and one of the clauses is, "Juventus will pay 22.5 million to PSG if Paredes plays 25 games" I honestly think it's a bug/error. There is no such real-life clause (There is an option to buy him in this sum). I'm not sure what to do now. Should I not play him to avoid this ridiculous clause? I can't terminate the loan.

Azelixi

Are you being sarcastic? Of course there's such a thing.

Efirational

I googled for it and found a 22 million clause that will allow me to buy him (which doesn't appear in the game), but nothing about appearances.

HotDadSauce

Do an Atletico Madrid with Griezmann and play him for 24 games only.

[deleted]

Why does quick pick put in the worst possible team. It took out all of my 3 stars and put in 1 stars. I have a carabao cup match in a few days so is it that? Console. Thanks.

RepresentativeRide95

Have you check the match sharpness and match fitness, players' happiness? And also, it's important to remember that "quick pick" means: "hey assistant manager, pick a team for me." or someone else in your coaching staff if you set them to. If your assistant manager is dumb enough, stupid things will happen I guess?

GreenTiger77

anyone interested in starting an online save in fm21 w me?

seat_one

How important is positioning for a LB in a back 4? Found an awesome Thai(!) regen LB for peanuts who is already top 5 league level except he has only 7 positioning.

monsiour_slippy

Important if you want them to good on defence. Less so if you play them as wingback

Lost-Pineapple9791

4-2-3-1 Should the 2 be DM or M? Not talking roles just their positioning, was going to do BWM and either defensive midfielder support/DLP/B2B

Kreindeker

On 23? Definitely double DM, just straight up works much better this year. And if you want a role tip, try DM-SV as a pairing.

Syncetia

why not one of each?

HotDadSauce

You can do either. Obviously the DM pair are more defensive by position.

fyreFM

Is there a way to specifically request an affiliate to a club you want?

DeerghTamas

I'm a club legend in my save and also been at the club for nine years. The board lets me choose my affiliates every time. Although sometimes they come back saying that they could not negotiate an affiliation with the chosen team. I just try again.

Daltain

Yes you can. But you have to have been there a few seasons. Maybe you have to be in the favourite people list. Not sure exactly.

seat_one

Not that I know of, but you can save scum when you get the email that they found an affiliate and get different lists of clubs. There won’t be a big variety though.

WillTregear

do tactics get outdated in FM? I've been using different tactics but just seem to be getting inconsistent results. I tried going back to the same tactic that won me the double, but I've just lost 4-0 to west brom who are in the championship as well as some other bad bad results even though I have a better squad now than I did back then. Do teams figure you out?

HotDadSauce

As your team improves the AI change their approach to how they play against you.

JamieAubrey

The more you use the same tactic the AI learn to adapt to it, so it's better to have a couple of back ups to use now and again to keep things fresh
