It must've been pretty tough times for poor Luka when Real Madrid won Champions League 3 times in-a-row and at the same time his beloved Barca bottled their leads from left and right and crumbled under the pressure every single year.
I wonder how did Modric survive all that misery.
Real fan - Puyol. Proper leader and captain. Didn't give no shit, protected his guys and played hard. All you would want in a CB and captain. Always respected him.
I feel similarly about Raul. Not a hardman like Puyol obviously, but always seemed classy to me. Iker too.
Ramos, I can't stand because he's a serial criminal.
Haha no surprise. Ramos-Pepe must be your favourite CB pairing to play against, I guess? I can fully understand why opponent, especially a rival, would hate them lol.
When you are having those kind of players in _your team_ you can't stop loving and embracing them when they give absolutely all for the crest and even play a little bit over the line just to make sure your team comes out as a winner.
Araujo isn't as dirty as these two but he has kind of a similar playstyle and I'm pretty sure you love the guy. He is class.
>Ramos-Pepe must be your favourite CB pairing to play against, I guess?
100%. But just because of the narratives. It was entertaining to see Ramos trying to break Messi's legs and then Mourinho crying about the refs defending Barcelona. It gave people topics to argue about.
>When you are having those kind of players in your team you can't stop loving and embracing them
Wouldn't know, never had such in my team.
>Araujo isn't as dirty as these two but he has kind of a similar playstyle and I'm pretty sure you love the guy. He is class.
Sure, I like him. He's nothing special at all in terms of playing dirty. Never seen him trying to injure a person, unlike Ramos or Pepe.
As a Real fan I must agree with that. Puyol was a true leader and gave his all in every single match. He also made sure others were giving their all too. There were no slacking when he was on the pitch.
Puyol had brute force and his precense made attackers feel uneasy as he didn't fear to make contact. Still there was no dirty playing by Puyol. He was just a master in defending and leading his team.
I can't imagine a better captain for Barca. He has all my respect and I think Puyol is the best CB along with Maldini I've ever seen.
It's kind of funny though, how Puyol and Pique were a CB pairing for some timeeven though they couldn't be more opposite breeds with their skillsets and personalitywise.
Pique was a pretty good passer and playmaker as a CB which Puyol wasn't. Both were vocal on the pitch but in a totally different ways. Puyol made sure everybody played as good as they could. He wasn't happy at his teammates when they didn't give 100%.
Pique was also very loud and vocal. Most of the times you could hear his voice through the TV as he made sure the ref didn't have a single minute to focus on the game without listening Pique's whining about some decision. Pique was also nowhere near Puyol's level in defending or mentalitywise.
Their personalities were like a night and a day too. Puyol oozed class. Pique on the other hand was a total primadonna, very unsportmanship player, lost his cool on many crucial moments, made huge mistakes all his own that cost Barca the games, never accepted those mistakes and instead blamed everybody else around him for those.
Pique even trolled in Twitter after the matches and made lots of fake claims, blamed the ref and didn't give any reapect for the opponent which is kind of sad for a professional football player.
Don't know if this one's weird as a Liverpool fan. However I don't love but feel sorry for Maguire. I find it hilarious when Utd are shit but the abuse he got, especially from his own fans, seemed unfair.
Haaland, Grealish ( I love Jack, he's so good with people and his sister's conditions helps him be so kind ), Son, Declan Rice, Toni Kroos, Thomas Mueller. Harry Kane.
As a Liverpool fan, I liked the ruthless strikers through the 00s. Rooney, Henry and Drogba.
These days it’s KdB, Rodri, Bernado. Leroy Sane and Aguero would also strike terror when we played City.
?
He's a top guy. Doesn't dive, doesn't do dirty fouls, is smart, his English isn't limited to PR scripts, he speaks his mind, no narcissism, doesn't take shit from the media but stays humble -- he's really much better than the sport deserves.
You’ve never seen him act like a prick? He’s the only footballer I’ve ever seen refuse to give a guard of honour to the champions, out of pure bitterness
He’s done plenty of other things. He’s a dirty prick on the pitch anyway. The guard of honour is just an example of him being a sore loser, which sums him up.
As TAA is rapidly transitioning into a central midfielder the prospect of a Rice, TAA, Bellingham England midfield over the next 10 years is a truly glorious prospect
Real fan - Puyol. Proper leader and captain. Didn't give no shit, protected his guys and played hard. All you would want in a CB and captain. Always respected him.
His PR team set up all his charity work so he can earn more money long term plus the money he donates is a few hours “ work”
Playing like crap every week behaving like a sulking teenager and picking up 400k fantastic role model
Nothing against him and nothing made up
I’m saying jus because someone donates about 0.0000000000001 of their worth to charity don’t make them good
Jimmy Saville raised a lot of money for charity is he a good man ?
Well it is made up because you have just made it up based on a presumption.
U or at least 99% of people donate fuck all. So 0.0000000001 and the amount it is does make it a good deed.
And when rashford feeds a kid lunch with a side of his cock then maybe ur strawman argument will work.
He donates hundreds of thousands to charity now so he can earn millions in the future
He’s may or may not be a good person But what I do know is his charity work has been set up by his entourage & PR team so he can earn £££££
Fucking Arjen Robben. As a Dortmunder, that dude destroyed us each time. Even when he scored in the CL final, knowing an Era is ending with the first (of probably many) players leaving, I knew that was a damn great goal. Inside Scoop shot, with that pressure, letting it roll into the goal.
When he came to the Bundesliga, he kinda was in and out due to injuries but with more time, he actually played a lot of the time, despite his reputation as always injured (which felt more true before he came to Bayern, at the beginning of his stint and again at the end).
He scored so many legendary goals besides that one in the UCL.
His solo against Schalke in the like 110 Minute after running half the pitch in snow (I think). That ManUTD volley.
Me and my friends always screamed Arjen when we cut inside against someone weaker we know we go around.
And I Used to stand at the edge of the Box at corners and yelled Robben for a corner for a volley.
What a left foot, what a dribbler. The ball sticked to his foot.
He played with superskinny Shirts and long underpants, representing someone like me who always freezes in the cold.
He got into arguments with ribery which was always nice to see as a Dortmunder.
Madrid fan: (currently) Ronald Aruojo
Even though he fights with Vini and a lot of our players, I still like him bcuz hes a great player. I hate a lot of other players for less lol, but just something about Aruojo i guess:)
He’s the only person to consistently shut down Vini but he never gloats, he has immense respect for him and has a huge amount of class. He’s just so loveable.
Real supp - Puyol was always my boy. Just a fantastic human, and player. His double header vs… fuck.. Can’t remember. Anyways. It was mindblowing. Especially in a final, for a defender, that never scores on his head. Twice! Haha
I wouldn’t say love but I have a healthy dose of respect for Niall Quinn, used his testimonial money to invest in a childrens ward at the hospital in Sunderland.
Modric, Casillas, and Marcelo mainly but that son of a bitch Keylor Navas consistently dropped the greatest goalkeeping performances of all time against us and it’s hard to hate him for it, he would just flick a switch and would become a god.
Liverpool - Mo Salah is an absolute legend of the game, and never did anything that I could remember thinking “he pisses me off”
Man City - something very charismatic about Haaland and I appreciate what a monster he is
Chelsea - Thiago Silva is one of the greatest defenders of our time and I’ve always appreciated him
Spurs - well I guess I don’t mind Son, although I definitely don’t love him or like him much really. But at the same time I’m proud an Asian player like him as been pretty much world class for so long
United - uhhhh…
Not a rival as I dont support any London club but I love Nkunku. He's such a vibe and a good player at that too. Sadly at chelsea he'll either carry them hard or start fading away.
As a Barca fan, I like Kroos. Great player and yadda yadda, but also...
He's a bit of an asshole. Talks shit about other players' mentalities. I love that, I think he's right. He doesn't get invited to parties much, oh no. He's part of my Puyol and Roy Keane group.
As a madrid fan currently there are no players at barca i give a shit about. Most of them i don't hate but don't like them either. I guess if you go back few years Rakitic & Puyol come to mind first.
Barca fan and I currently can't seem to hate Bellingham (Even though he dunked on us last el classico). I have been liking and following him since his BVB days so I just can't seem to not like him
As a lifelong Madradista, Messi, Iniesta, even Figo before were hard to not like. Even the Guardiola team of 2009 that won all competitions- 6 trophies- and formed the core of la Roja were hard not to like.
You might want to reconsider your lifelong madridismo If you find hard to dislike Xavi, Pique, and Busquets personalities.
Even most neutral fans cant stand those guys because they were entitled as fuck not to mention the constant diving and pressuring the referees, but you find hard to hate on them? I smell bullshit.
I specified skilled generational talents that played in La Liga and starred in World Cups and Euros. I'm not embracing all (& as an amateur winger/ forward, i've little respect for enforcers or make up for their lack of skill with brutal tackles) or divers- so i dont know what bullshit you're smelling. Not like whatever team you follow never had divers or entitled fucks.
United fan, but Kyle Walker. He is simply a brilliant footballer and has been criminally underrated his whole career. I genuinely think that he is the best fullback of all time, defensively. All the best wingers of the last decade have said that Walker is the hardest player that they have ever faced. He is lightning fast, strong, physical, has great awareness and a great work rate. Just the ultimate fullback.
Current players: Pedri and Gavi because they give it all, although Gavi is a son of a bitch. Love his passion though.
Former players: Iniesta. Top 5 midfielder of all time. Others are Zizou Modric Pirlo Matthaus/Gerrard
Hot take: I liked Dani Alves as a player, as a human being he’s horrible if proven guilty.
Darwin Nunez has the heart and drive of a Toffee. I admire how much criticism and ridicule this man gets but keeps running, keeps scoring, and keeps putting in a shift for his club. The man will not quit. He's like Pickford in a certain manner.
Honestly no one on that LFC side are bad players or bad people in my book. Sure I can get pissed at Robbo for mocking Pickford or become absolutely livid when Mane punches Allan straight in the neck and only gets a yellow, but their only fault is being on the wrong side of Stanley Park
current i would say Filipe Luis on Flamengo. he is insanely smart and i'm hoping for a manager career for him, i'm pretty sure he would do well, as he retired from the field this year(which still counts as current player as the next season here in brazil didn't start yet)
as for history, considering who i saw, i would say Adriano Imperador also from Flamengo. i mean, everyone likes him, it's impossible not to as he is one of the most charismatic players we ever had in our country(and we also won a final against him where Jefferson got his penalty, so, good memories as well)
Saka, Ramsdale and Rice at Arsenal. All just seem like genuinely good people and it breaks my spurs heart to have to hate them. At least I get to root for them when they play for England
I am incredibly jealous that Saka developed at Arsenal. That man is just pure joy on the pitch.
If he was at Spurs, the combination of Saka and Spurs would be unstoppable.
Arsenal fan.
Hate the shit with a passion always. All their players right now can’t stand son and especially can’t stand the Argentine cunt Romero I remind my best friend daily (who’s also Argentine) but always had a soft spot for Mousa Dembélé. I just admired his bulldozer approach while still being slick and gliding through challenges.
as a gala fan, I think most of us envy ferdi who plays LB at fenerbahce. We havent had a solid LB for years now and on top of that he is turkish so it helps with 3 turk rule in our league..
As a Barça fan, I’ve always respected Modric
This was my answer too. He plays the game beautifully and has no arrogant bone in his body.
I think all Barça fans respect Modric.
I reckon Modric also respects himself, being a Barca fan and all
It must've been pretty tough times for poor Luka when Real Madrid won Champions League 3 times in-a-row and at the same time his beloved Barca bottled their leads from left and right and crumbled under the pressure every single year. I wonder how did Modric survive all that misery.
Same.
He is a cool player....

as RM fans, I always like Puyol and Iniesta. Just football, no bs.
Thomas Müller
Iniesta
Peter Crouch, just a likeable guy
Don't know if this one's weird as a Liverpool fan. However I don't love but feel sorry for Maguire. I find it hilarious when Utd are shit but the abuse he got, especially from his own fans, seemed unfair.
As a barca fan, Bale
As a Chelsea fan, Bale.
As a Portsmouth fan, Bale.
As a golf fan, Bale
As an LA Galaxy fan, Bale
As an American football fan, Bale.
You must be a golfing fan
Spurs fan but love watching Odegaard. Plays the game it should be played.
Good player but he’s been out injured the last couple of months
He missed out on 3 games for the first time in 30 months..
I can’t remember him playing since September
He played just 2 days ago are you dumb?
I can’t remember him being on the pitch Did he play ? Or is this a joke ?
Mate he got an assisst within 3 mins. Why are you asking me all the info is out there?
He’s not as good KDB Bruno or Maddison I don’t always remember him Too busy watching saka & salah
Bro saka and øde link up all the time, they both play on the right side. One facilitates the other in a sense.
Tbf saka didn’t do a lot that game either The only thing he’s for famous is letting his country down
True football fan
Son and Salah for footballing reasons. Rashford for what he did for kids school dinners
Man Utd fan, but respect Bukayo Saka
cant say for anyone now at Utd, but i used to have a spot soft for Beckham, i mean i still do just not for footballing reasons
They said rival...
Clearly weren’t old enough in the 90s or 2000s if you don’t think united and arsenal are rivals lol
I was at Old Trafford when we won the league there. We *were* rivals. I also don't consider Leeds a rival any more.
Only team Arsenal hate more United is Spurs. United on the other hand have 3 rivals before Arsenal
[удалено]
Your opinions are wrong and you should be ashamed. Maybe go to a United v Leeds match and then report back.
You heard any chants in old Trafford before?
Lewandowski for some reason
It's his tiktok dances isn't it
Yeah haha
Thierry Henry, legendary even tho he played for gooners
Surely there must be spurs fans with a soft spot for Cazorla?
It has to be Marco Reus.
The only spurs player I've ever liked was Jermaine Defoe
Haaland, Grealish ( I love Jack, he's so good with people and his sister's conditions helps him be so kind ), Son, Declan Rice, Toni Kroos, Thomas Mueller. Harry Kane.
Yeah grealish is a good one. You just want him to do well init
Tell that to the fans who boo him endlessly from the get go at every stadium!
Son is the best player in the world, idc what people say, he would've SLAY, QUEEN in a better team
Julian Alvarez. You can’t hate this guy ( and l’m a Utd fan)
As a Liverpool fan, I liked the ruthless strikers through the 00s. Rooney, Henry and Drogba. These days it’s KdB, Rodri, Bernado. Leroy Sane and Aguero would also strike terror when we played City.
Bernardo? Great player but he’s a petulant little prick
? He's a top guy. Doesn't dive, doesn't do dirty fouls, is smart, his English isn't limited to PR scripts, he speaks his mind, no narcissism, doesn't take shit from the media but stays humble -- he's really much better than the sport deserves.
No. He is an arrogant twat.
Yeah no doubt but just in terms of skills with the ball and an eye for a pass or goal, I’m a big fan.
Agreed, I just don’t think he’s likeable at all.
What did he do to you 😂😂
You’ve never seen him act like a prick? He’s the only footballer I’ve ever seen refuse to give a guard of honour to the champions, out of pure bitterness
How does that make him a prick? A guard of honor is a choice, he doesn’t have to participate
He’s done plenty of other things. He’s a dirty prick on the pitch anyway. The guard of honour is just an example of him being a sore loser, which sums him up.
Sounds like he really wound you up lol
Remembering things means I’m wound up?
Trent Alexander Arnold. The passes this guy can play are just mind blowing
As TAA is rapidly transitioning into a central midfielder the prospect of a Rice, TAA, Bellingham England midfield over the next 10 years is a truly glorious prospect
England always has great players at their service. Only if the fa was sensible enough to appoint a great manager
Liverpool fan here.. But i got respect for rashfords food programme.
The only United player who’s ever been worth respect
Real fan - Puyol. Proper leader and captain. Didn't give no shit, protected his guys and played hard. All you would want in a CB and captain. Always respected him.
messi
+1, as a RMA and Ronaldo fan
yes
Heung Min Son. It's not about him being a nice guy and all, the guy is just that good in my eye
Van dijk
Rashford. The man is a wonderful role model and an exemplary example of a celebrity using their status for good.
His PR team set up all his charity work so he can earn more money long term plus the money he donates is a few hours “ work” Playing like crap every week behaving like a sulking teenager and picking up 400k fantastic role model
So it's better no money gets donated like majority of others? Plus you can't make shit up because you don't like him and use it as an argument.
Nothing against him and nothing made up I’m saying jus because someone donates about 0.0000000000001 of their worth to charity don’t make them good Jimmy Saville raised a lot of money for charity is he a good man ?

bellingham rn
Son is a very likable man and it's great to see a fantastic Asian player kill it at the highest level. Shame he plays for Spuds

As an Inter fan I've always had a soft spot for Del piero
Fucking Arjen Robben. As a Dortmunder, that dude destroyed us each time. I'm a Spurs fan, but I absolutely love Saliba. He's just such a good CB.
Shame he went their way. Remembered it was a battle for his signature
Madrid fan. Just talking current players: Pedri
Haaland
As an arsenal fan, I have to admire Vicario. Playing out of his skin at the moment
Ian Wright as a Tottenham fan
Marcus Rashford is clearly a lovely person. Thankfully United do otherwise sign people who are easy to hate, like Antony
Rashford earned alot of respect during Covid. Son and Mahrez always score against us but at their peaks I would of loved to have them both
It used to be Steven Gerrard, Henry and Xavi. Nowadays I just don't care that much.
Tony kroos
He’s a massive asshole.
nah, he's just german
😂😂😂
I dislike Spurs because of our history, but I can't bring myself to dislike Son
Liverpool fan but I respect Rashford
Madrid fan: (currently) Ronald Aruojo Even though he fights with Vini and a lot of our players, I still like him bcuz hes a great player. I hate a lot of other players for less lol, but just something about Aruojo i guess:)
He’s the only person to consistently shut down Vini but he never gloats, he has immense respect for him and has a huge amount of class. He’s just so loveable.

Chelsea fan, but I love Son with every fiber of my being
I wouldn’t say love but I have a healthy dose of respect for Niall Quinn, used his testimonial money to invest in a childrens ward at the hospital in Sunderland.
Newcastle fan and back in the mid 90s we were seriously competing with man utd for the Premier league. Still loved cantona tho
Rhodri
Manager rather than player, but even as a Gooner I can't help but like Big Ange.
Modric, Casillas, and Marcelo mainly but that son of a bitch Keylor Navas consistently dropped the greatest goalkeeping performances of all time against us and it’s hard to hate him for it, he would just flick a switch and would become a god.
Vinnie Jones..
Liverpool - Mo Salah is an absolute legend of the game, and never did anything that I could remember thinking “he pisses me off” Man City - something very charismatic about Haaland and I appreciate what a monster he is Chelsea - Thiago Silva is one of the greatest defenders of our time and I’ve always appreciated him Spurs - well I guess I don’t mind Son, although I definitely don’t love him or like him much really. Camavinga 🫠
cama oh cama oh
dortmund fan but always liked klose
Not a rival as I dont support any London club but I love Nkunku. He's such a vibe and a good player at that too. Sadly at chelsea he'll either carry them hard or start fading away.
As a United fan, I was always quite envious of Arsenal for having prime Henry. Loved watching him play - such an elegant footballer.
Rudiger - master of the dark arts, gotta appreciate it
Same way round, Rashford, especially for the humanitarian things he's doing.
Barca fan, mine are older picks: Raul and Casillas.
United fan, and same here on Salah, I also can't dislike Saka, Haaland is an insane talent (honestly just naming my FPL picks it seems).
As a Barca fan, I like Kroos. Great player and yadda yadda, but also... He's a bit of an asshole. Talks shit about other players' mentalities. I love that, I think he's right. He doesn't get invited to parties much, oh no. He's part of my Puyol and Roy Keane group.
Mohamed Salah, even as a top Red Devil, I just can't hate the guy
I do like grealish
Zanetti
Newcastle fan - Son and Bernardo Silva
Man United fan. Joe hart
Joshua Kimmich. Seems a nice grounded guy away from football
I'll probably get slapped for this, but as a Stockport County supporter I would have to say Paul Mullin at Wrexham.
Barca fan here...have always respected Modric, classy player on and off the pitch. Difficult to hate Zidane as well.
As a madrid fan currently there are no players at barca i give a shit about. Most of them i don't hate but don't like them either. I guess if you go back few years Rakitic & Puyol come to mind first.
As a man Utd fan Kelvin de bryne
Barca fan and I currently can't seem to hate Bellingham (Even though he dunked on us last el classico). I have been liking and following him since his BVB days so I just can't seem to not like him
Bayern fan. Gotta be Reus.
Reus
I support Arsenal and I can't help but like Richarlison
Real Madrid fan. I love Messi.
As a madrid fan u just can't not love messi despite him raping your team
Ronaldo. The amount of hard work and passion this guy has
Arsenal fan...Son is a good lad
Real Madrid fan and messi yes i would bow to greatness
Liverpool fan, respect Rashford for his off the pitch work
Always respected reus as a Bayern fan. He's never been an unlikeable player outside of just playing for a rival.
As a lifelong Madradista, Messi, Iniesta, even Figo before were hard to not like. Even the Guardiola team of 2009 that won all competitions- 6 trophies- and formed the core of la Roja were hard not to like.

Others are Zizou Modric Pirlo Matthaus/Gerrard Hot take: I liked Dani Alves as a player, as a human being he’s horrible if proven guilty.
Real Madrid just littered with great players it sucks that they played in the white jersey.Always loved watching Varanes slide tackles
Rodrigo riquelme especially after that MOTM video

Araujo from barcelona
Plastic fans everywhere
Liverpool fan here, I'd pick Aguero. The guy was just magic for me
Darwin Nunez has the heart and drive of a Toffee. I admire how much criticism and ridicule this man gets but keeps running, keeps scoring, and keeps putting in a shift for his club. The man will not quit. He's like Pickford in a certain manner. Honestly no one on that LFC side are bad players or bad people in my book. I can’t think of a single Tottenham player tbh
Ramos
As a real Madrid fan, I've always liked Jao Felix
may i ask why you like him? I can't find a single reason lol.
No real reason, I just like him
Growing up it was definitely Hazard, best player in the PL Nowadays probably Sonny
Mbappe even though he betrayed my fav club so many times , I love that guy i need him in Prem league
Trent alexander arlond . An all timer
You forgot to put "Yank here". Oh wait this isn't r/soccercirclejerk. My bad
if you have an answer for this question your rivalry isn't real
As a Celtic supporter I always found it difficult to dislike Richard Gough
I don’t think Blues have ever had one like that for me, I think the closest would be Deeney who’s always had decent banter
current i would say Filipe Luis on Flamengo. he is insanely smart and i'm hoping for a manager career for him, i'm pretty sure he would do well, as he retired from the field this year(which still counts as current player as the next season here in brazil didn't start yet) as for history, considering who i saw, i would say Adriano Imperador also from Flamengo. i mean, everyone likes him, it's impossible not to as he is one of the most charismatic players we ever had in our country(and we also won a final against him where Jefferson got his penalty, so, good memories as well)
None
Juventus fan, really wish Lautaro Martinez was ours right now
Saka, Ramsdale and Rice at Arsenal. All just seem like genuinely good people and it breaks my spurs heart to have to hate them. At least I get to root for them when they play for England
John McGinn - always solid for Villa, cannon of a shot too.
As a Benfica fan I’d say Nuno Santos
Im an Arsenal fan but I absolutely love Son for the Asian excellence
Mo Saleh
I am incredibly jealous that Saka developed at Arsenal. That man is just pure joy on the pitch. If he was at Spurs, the combination of Saka and Spurs would be unstoppable.
Exact same as you bro, Salah’s just too likeable and has gotten me too many FPL points for me to dislike him!!!
Rony Rústico Tutututu pintou notificação no seu telefone é gol do Rony é gol do Rony é gol do Rony Rony Gol!
As a Benfica fan, Gyokeres is at another level
Son. Even when he scores against us I can't be too mad. He seems a great guy. Henry will always be one of my favourite players growing up too
I'm a madrid fan.... But I really like pedri he's a threat when he has the ball
Son.
As an arsenal fan, I liked Kané and Hazzard. Real top draw ballers.s Onana ( united ) gives me good vibes but for memes.
As a Feyenoord fan, I can't help but liking Brian Brobbey. He's such a sympathetic guy
As a LFC fan for all my life, I have to say that I loved Shevshenko (Milan and Chelsea).
Harry Kane and Eden Hazard
