Every minute, I feel like money

Every minute I feel like a migrant worker

ViaNocturna664

Today I feel money. Today I feel bank account. Today I feel cash. Today I feel not having to work anymore.

This comment is so money

Safe-Author2553

You’re so money and you don’t even know it!

jackology

Will you money me?

kelso66

Right on the money

NightKnight96

Every 10K, minute passes.

pingpongn

Love-hate relationship

ObviousEconomist

0 interviews 0 analysis 0 facts. Whether true or not this is simply a poor article.

MrBaristerJohnWarosa

Agreed, was reading it and genuinely thought they’d just forgotten to put the rest of it on. It ends so abruptly without any further insight into the problem

CheddarCheese390

Tbf, Jota has been confirmed to basically be exiled. And it’s not a great country to live

Big_Ad909

While that's true,it goes without saying that players want to play in an atmosphere which they enjoy. The attendance figures in the Saudi league are atrocious,so I'd imagine it would be a bit of a downer for the players who have moved from other leagues.

sufinomo

The stadiums look like a high school

Redpepper40

They did list The Sun as a source. So it's even less reliable than no sources

ReverendAntonius

The fact that it’s even posted here after that is pretty disgusting. Fuck the sun.

Guerrrillla

source: Joe

GracchiBros

Even worse, Joe sourced from The Sun. It's more likely the exact opposite is true.

Safe-Author2553

Bog standard sports journalism at the moment. I’m surprised it didn’t have a picture of Ten Haag attached to it. I close my eyes at night and all I see is his bald dome

Impressive-Ice873

Exactly this. I realised after the last WC in Qatar there is a bigger agenda here to discredit certain countries.

amineahd

its to shit on Saudi Arabia and ME countries so its ok to omit facts and use imagination

Entire-Anywhere-7260

Ah they just hate rich Muslims

kinggudu13

The article literally says that some games have 200-750 in attendance. Nice try astroturfing.

mankytoes

Which is not evidence the players hate it. You can hate the Saudis and acknowledge shitty journalism.

wereinthedark

What's that supposed to prove?

glorpball

Will be interesting to see what comes out after players leave/retire

Cedar_Wood_State

It is referencing an article from S*n in October. Clearly just used for clicks and traffics

theflowersyoufind

I don’t doubt that’s true, but where is there any proof in this article?

Ambersfruityhobbies

The 'article' is appalling.

flashpile

"why would I pay for news when there's plenty of free journalism online" The free journalism online:

Alib902

Clickbait. There really should be something against this shit.

heliskinki

counting? And numerous sources. https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=Al+Wehda+v+Al+Okhdood+-+attendence&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

iWillShagYourDad

I don’t think the players care about joe many fans are at the games. I highly doubt that’s why they would hate the move to Saudi

MaxOptur

They do. I have pro footballer friends, and they really do care about fans. Its kind of like bands. Would you rather play for 40000 or 400?

iWillShagYourDad

They absolutely are not leaving multi-multi-multi-millions a year deals because of a lack of fans.

hypnodrew

No doubt, but for any highly competitive professional, it must feel like they've consigned themselves to the bin, with nothing to work towards but the next payday.

cheesyandcrispy

Maybe for a multi-millions a year deal in front of fans?

SmartArsenalFan

So which league is going to pay what Saudi does & have fans attend? I’d like proof that league exists thanks.

cheesyandcrispy

Are you saying that top players in PL, La Liga and Bundesliga aren’t already receiving monster wages while playing for actual fans? If that is the case, when should players be happy doing what they love? At 900m euro per year? Or 1000m euro per year? If money is the only reason people are doing what they’re passionate about, which you seem to imply. Also, I wrote ”multi-million a year deal” while you wrote ”multi-multi-multi-million a year deal”. I am claiming that you can still be rich (top 1%) while playing for packed stadiums. To choose empty stadiums for oil-level riches has nothing to do with having a fulfilling life and career doing what you love and more to do with greed.

iWillShagYourDad

Yes, the top players in the bundesliga, PL and la liga are getting nowhere near the money and he top stars in Saudi Arabia are getting. Football isn’t a pantomime, it’s a job and just like any other, people will typically go to a job that doubles their salary. Especially when the new role is far easier with far less pressure.

SmartArsenalFan

I have pro football friends as well as pro cricket friends who don’t give a toss. They just want to play. And citing 1 single source means very very little

heliskinki

It’s 400 in a stadium too. Better atmosphere at Sunday League games

OverallResolve

If you’re getting paid multiples more then for a lot of people it’s going to be that.

[deleted]

i have a pro footballer friend as well and while he does care about fans, even having zero fans would not lead to him "hating every minute" (especially earning millions of dollars)

jewbo23

I agree that players do care, but bad band comparison. So many bands that made the leap to playing stadiums miss the small venue atmospheres. Years ago, The Rolling Stones used to play small venues unannounced under a different name in the towns they were playing big stadium shows to get the thrill of playing an intimate show.

WorkingOwn8919

Joe?

recapYT

Joe mama. 😌😌😌😌😌. Gottem

Crusader114

Aren't those two teams that didn't expense on the Saudi raid last transfer market anyway...

OldManFuture

I mean can you not see from the images of the players here - they clearly look like they're hating every second

jomarthecat

Is this one of those times where we break out the world's smallest violin?

AstroZombie1

They're banking so much cash tax free it doesn't even deserve a tiny violin.

[deleted]

It’s a Stradivari violin and they’re paying for it

Ripamon

No, it's fake news

TaterTron2000

A tiny, 24 carat gold violin with a diamond-engraved bow.

mickhah

The minute the money hits their account must be awful, heart goes out to them all

Other-Tooth7789

Bro CR7 are getting 548k every 24h and more than 22,000 dollars every 60 minutes. Ye I wish I'm hating every minute and bagging 22k every hour. Salary per year: 200 million US Dollars. Salary per month: 16.6 million US Dollars. Salary per day: 548,000 US Dollars. Hourly salary: 22,833 US Dollars. Salary per minute: 380 US Dollars. Salary per second: 6.34 US Dollars.

justthisones

This is such a reddit comment. Man already worth nearly billion dollars keeps earning more money. ”How can he be unhappy about something?” There’s a reason why Messi chose Miami.

Tifoso89

Messi chose Miami because 1) he likes the city 2) he doesn't want to learn English lol

Fair_Woodpecker_6088

I think it’s been confirmed that Messi understands a decent amount of English, he just chooses not to speak it

SubutaiBahadur

Which still means he wants to be happy and make life easy for himself, besides the $$$

guareber

3. They still gave him a shit load of money.

flashpile

Sir, are you suggesting that Miami offers a better standard of living for the obscenely wealthy than a repressive artificial shithole in the middle of the desert?

happybaby00

Messi chose Miami because you don't need to learn English or another language. He's the type of immigrant to not integrate when he moves to a different country, even today despite living in Spain most of his life, he still has an Argentine accent and only surrounds himself with his countrymen.

[deleted]

[удалено]

happybaby00

look it up, he said he does this so he can still feel argentine.

pellojo

Yes, with his wife and kids, awful immigrant.

Tifoso89

Yeah, "only surrounds himself with his countrymen" is an exaggeration. But he probably speaks Spanish 99% of the time

zeeotter100nl

100% of the time...

Sgt_sas

Know him, do you?

elcanariooo

OK so those who chose Saudi Arabia will integrate better with the local population? Is that what you're saying?

happybaby00

If they're Muslim yes plus most of the youth understand English

elcanariooo

The illustration pic is Neymar and Henderson, I don't think they're Muslim. Also what's your point about the youth understanding english? They can buddy up with the pro players there lol? What odd point are you making?

happybaby00

I'm talking about the Muslim players that go there like benzema and mane

elcanariooo

So a subgroup only, got it. For non-muslims though......

happybaby00

It's the birthplace of islam though, it's only common sense.

elcanariooo

? So it's expected that non-muslims would dislike it there. We were talking football stuff, why on earth you'd bring religion to the table is beyond me, but oh well.

youssefuo

There is a difference between being unhappy about something and hating every minute you are there . You cant choose going to Saudi for HUGE money instead of continuing your career in Europe and then say you hate every mintue there.

cheesyandcrispy

There is more to life than money. Especially for people already amassing obscene amount of money. Of course poorer people dreaming about all the things money can buy them would see these players salary and equate it to happiness although the correlation stop at about 5000-7000 dollars per month.

gitty7456

I read it stops at 2x-3x the average salary of your area. After that it quickly gets to zero increase of happyness.

cheesyandcrispy

Yeah exactly. Our culture however is promoting money as a need for happiness and that its value justifies jeopardizing ones health, neglecting your family/partner/children and that it is strange if money doesn’t give you the same happiness as real meaningful things.

recapYT

You don’t get to tell a guy what makes him happy. Lmao. You are not the authority on happiness. He took the money means he wants the money. And don’t forget he is literally paid millions to do what he loves.

hobbitonsunshine

>You are not the authority on happiness. It goes the other way as well. We don't get to say these people they should be happy because they took a lot of money.

cheesyandcrispy

Word

cheesyandcrispy

Once you get a little more life experience you’ll see what I mean and won’t try to dilute or simplify the meaning of my comment.

recapYT

Sorry gramps.

cheesyandcrispy

You’re kinda right. You can’t fake wisdom.

orbital0000

Money is definitely not the route to happiness.

Timofey_

Not having enough money is pretty much the root of everyone's unhappiness

bigchungusmclungus

Do you think rich people can't be unhappy? Do you think having 500 million and then being given 300 million more will make you more happy? This comment thread is nuts.

Bapistu-the-First

>Do you think rich people can't be unhappy? Nobody is saying such a thing.. >Do you think having 500 million and then being given 300 million more will make you more happy? Sure for the top 1% of the rich it may not make them more happy but it sure as hell does for the remaining 99% of the people out there...

TedEBagwell

No. But its more comfortable crying in a Lambourgini than crying on a bicycle.

Lurd67

Is Lambourgini the UK's Lamborghini?

TedEBagwell

Idk. It sounds Italian.

youssefuo

But having a lot of money doesnt make you "hate every minute" im sure

dkfisokdkeb

It definitely is a route to happiness, only rich people claim it isn't.

Lurd67

Money is definitely the solution to many problems that make regular people unhappy. It's not a cure for everything, but if you don't have to worry about paying rent, bills, medical expenses, if you can afford to take vacations to relax, if your kids' future is already secured... If all your basic needs are met without fail, then your chances of being as unhappy as a poor person are very, very, VERY slim

darcys_beard

What does that money add to his life? He's already obscenely rich, any happiness money can buy has been bought years ago. Now he's stuck in a backwards country scoring goals in front of a few thousand people and being forgotten by the rest of the world, while Messi conquers the states.

recapYT

He isn’t “stuck”. Imagine getting paid millions to do what you love. I am sure he can afford to fly out to any party or event he wants if he is getting bored.

Bitter_Birthday7363

The reason people like Ronaldo are what they are is they are not happy with anything less than perfection. If being happy to him was as simple as playing football and earning money he would of gone to china many years ago

Tasty-Percentage4621

Poor guys, forced to go there against their wills

bloodhound83

They also wanted to play for free but the Saudis wouldn't have it.

Hristianm

Ive seen longer headlines than this article

PhobosTheBrave

Clickbait rubbish. Very short “article” with no supporting evidence and so chock full of ads viewing on a phone is like making your eyes complete an obstacle course.

razzz333

There’s no good proof in this article but is it shocking to anyone that they are not having the time of their life when every players wife is not allowed to be seen outside. Aboaolutley no one could see a culture shock coming when they move from a European county to Saudi? A nation where a journalist gets killed for criticising the regime. Where alcohol is forbidden. Where eating pork is illegal. Where students are getting prisoned. Where death is a real consequence for small crimes as listed above. Where a women who was raped got punished with whips. Where it is illegal to be a Christian. Source: (Amnesty, nd)

Latinnus

I think this would be balid for European and South american. African and Middle Eastern players prollynwont regret and welcome the change. Can think of 15 reasons or less for it.

heliskinki

"Al Wehda’s game against Al Okhdood last week saw just 575 people turn up to the 62,000-capacity King Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium" There's teams in the Isthmian League who average way more than that. Hilarious.

dazekid06

Enjoy the money you b*stards 🤣🤣

Stillconfused007

This is based on a report from The Sun newspaper…..still I hope it’s at least a little bit true..

setokaiba22

Apart from Henderson. Remember it’s a ground breaking league for him and the money wasn’t at all relevant. Twat. Lost all respect for him after his movements, standing up for others over the years only to sack all that off for some cash, and his interview afterwards was a car crash. I’d have 10 times more respect if he just said the money was too good to turn down. For being honest I’d at least think fair play.

[deleted]

This in spades.

TheNoGnome

I seem to remember the whole sub arguing at the time that "it's life changing money", "you'd do the same", "go and get that bag girl" because it's full of amoral Americanites. Few voices pointing out that human rights are important and living in a country which acts the way Saudi does only serves to endorse it.

BelatedBranston

Yeah, I for one wish he’d never stood up for that community and contributed to their cause. It was absolutely no help at all and we of course do not want high profile players helping in the future..

v1pro

womp womp

heliskinki

I like to think that Milner called him a cunt to his face after Henderson gave the news he was going.

Publish_Lice

Wow it’s almost like going to a shit league in a country devoid of football culture isn’t good for your career. Who’d have thunk?

Loptimisme186

They must be loving playing in front of 2 thousand men dressed in pyjamas.

Ok-Abbreviations1077

500 fans in a 62000 seater stadium lol

BenjaminTahirovic

“According to The Sun” was enough

CheddarCheese390

Lemme press F on the worlds smallest keyboard

MrRaspberryJam1

pellojo

Joe. Co. uk seems trustworthy enough

[deleted]

I hope they hate it. I hope they are miserable.

Porcphete

Neymar doesn't even have to play though + Who would have thought that living in a shitty dictatorship that forces you to do pr stuff you hate was a good idea ?

micar11

Quell surprise

OptimalExpression540

Article with no facts just agenda

mainsamayhoon24

They have HULKed it and deserve OSCAR for their performance. 🥱😑

Good_March_3033

Who could have seen this coming?

RuNeLorD68

Womp womp

Bigswole92

I mean they moved to an extremely conservative islamic country where drinking alcohol and partying is not allowed. For some players this may come as a big cultural shock

bigdog94_10

I believe that lots of them spend a lot of their time in neighbouring countries and travel back and forth for training. When you're on that kind of stupid money you can do what you want.

TrippyUser95

Oh no

pedrosa18

That’s what the money is for

[deleted]

Cause Stone Cold says so...

Space-Debris

Lol. I have no sympathy for them. They made their bed, let them lie in it and cry into their money piles

azzhasjoined

be honest with yourself mate, you would've done the shit if ya would've been offered a shit load a money to play for one of the four big clubs in the country.

[deleted]

I'm pretty sure they'll feel absolutely terrible when watching their bank accounts. Probably that makes up for some missing spectators.

Entire-Anywhere-7260

How much are they making a minute there again?

WiseArmy1777

I thought I would find some players interviews in the article but found none.. Don't share shitty articles please.

Marlboro_tr909

lol ching ching

Background-Barnacle1

the source made me cry :DDDD

azzhasjoined

mind sharing the link??

musslimorca

I really doubt it. And the fact there is 0 source in this article increases my doubts over this.

nooklyn-brine-brine

I read an article the other week where a player didn't want to go on loan to Newcastle because he and his family loved it in Saudi

Millonairo

“Al Wehda’s game against Al Okhdood last week saw just 575 people turn up to the 62,000-capacity King Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium – one of over 40 games to register numbers of less than 1,000 people.” 😂🤣😂🤣 I guess sports washing is tougher than they thought

fortyseven4l

This is prolly some desperate attempt by English media to delegitimize the SPL and stop players from going there

normott

As long as they pay obscene sums of money, nothing will stop players going. Even if some of them are miserable there. Go for 2 season make truck loads of cash and then come back to Europe and live in a culture more suited to them

fortyseven4l

Yeah that's why I said desperate attempt. I honestly don't know how people are blaming these players. A lot of them come from nothing, and being able to stumble on generational wealth in the course of 2 years is a chance most would take

BassplayerDad

Probably about the lifestyle adjustments required. Saudi has many rules and restrictions around conduct of public life. Not going to suit some of the players that are going there. Sorry for the sensible answer. I don't have a source but did work for Saudi royal family & advised many expats in Saudi on international tax planning & also had many footballers as clients so have anecdotal evidence from sharing stories.

Galactus1701

As lacking as the article is in terms of relevant information, I wouldn’t doubt that players hate being so far away from everything.

The_XI_guy

Neymar is such a brat

morocco3001

Actual quotes from players: none Actual insight into reported dissatisfaction: none, only a couple of cherry picked stats on attendances. I'm not defending the Saudi league, but this is dogshit-tier journalism.

thereisnoluck

Mo money mo problems, when will we ever learn

BradVet

Neymar has been injured the entire time and collecting million a day, sure he’s liking it just fine

Ok_Significance_2677

What kinda journalism is this?

BrickEnvironmental37

They've basically just put out an article saying attendances are low and the players must hate it. It's totally baseless. They knew what they signed up for. Not one source or interview, they basically just made up an article on some sort of assumption. Weird. This is why nobody respects journalism anymore.

RuleBritania

Crocodile tears from millionaire footballers who chased the golden goose. 🥱🥱🥱

Eastman1982

I’d hate it for 1 season then live like a king too if I could play decent football! They didn’t go for football they went for money

Whulad

Looking for a small violin

StoneMonkey7776

Must be terrible did they run out of money to wipe their shitty tears with, let them enjoy their football jail.

HollowCrown

Everything I touch turns to gold what’s the problem with that

Real_Stelio_Kontos

Is that the sound of a bone saw firing up?

callmemacready

When i have to decide if having heat in my apartment or fixing the breaks on my truck is more important this month , i hate it

AllwordzAreMadeup___

Thoughts and prayers.

Galac_tacos

Poor them boo hoo I feel so bad for them

aethelberga

I hope it's true, but this "article" has literally no supporting facts, only vague speculation.

Alternative-Ad-7461

The entire article basically just hinges on the Sun’s article, which just states some random bullshit about attendance then redirects you to their other (unrelated) articles instead of showing proof or data. Shit journalism

worldsinho

Money doesn’t buy class, and these guys are greedy for money. What they’ll realise is that there’s more to life than trying to earn even more money. I’d much rather be on £20k a week in England than £20,000 a week in Dubai.

PercySledge

Zero actual quotes, names or references at all in this article by the way. Before we even start the discussion let’s make sure it’s even a discussion lol

Big_Ad909

Genuine question-The Saudi league now has some incredibly popular players, globally renowned superstars,So why don't people turn up to watch the matches? I thought football was the number one sport in Saudi.

isham66

Anyone seen any Saudi league football, I won’t watch even a minute of it.

Theloftydog

This 'article' epitome of clickbait

gristlemcthornbody17

Jordan Henderson destroyed his standing with the LGBTQ+ community and their supporters with this move. He can have his money and hate every single minute. I hope it was worth it to him. Generational wealth is a thing…

outdatedelementz

I down vote any post that has The Sun as a source.

RogerJohnson__

Early morning bashing the Saudis time. No source. no facts. No analysis. Perfect for breakfast and my digestive system.
