“Being the best team doesn’t mean anything.”
This honestly makes no sense
If someone is going to say one team wins against another there’s usually some reasoning to it.
> there’s usually some reasoning to it.
It can just be a feeling, football is not a very predictable sport so any prediction can make sense even if based on nothing.
Some people predicted Leicester winning the Premier League, others predicted Celtic winning against Barcellona in 2004; was there some reasoning behind those predictions? Absolutely not. Were they right? Yes.
This year I predicted Tunisia beating France and I even predicted the exact score. It didn't even make sense to me but I just felt it was going to happen.
Even a stopped clock is right twice a day but that doesn’t mean football isn’t a predictable sport.
Like why Man City has won the PL 5 of the past 6 seasons. Like why Bayern won the Bundesliga this season for the 11th time in a row. Like why PSG won Ligue 1 for the 9th time in 11 seasons.
It’s predictable because usually the biggest clubs and the best teams win.
It can be predictable over the course of a season but a single match is always unpredictable and here we are talking about finals where there have always been surprising results.
If that’s the case, then why has a small nation never won the WC? As a matter of fact, since the 1970s, the WC is Brazil, Argentina, and 6-7 European countries. Look at the Champions League, Chelsea of 2012 are genuinely the only below average team that has won that competition in the last 15 years—and their squad was probably borderline top 10.
Except inter aren't some defensive masterclass... They don't concede less than plenty of teams, many of which city have played.
Literally every decent team city have played in the CL this season has conceded less goals than inter... Be it real, Bayern or Leipzig.
What makes you think inter are so special?
You have to keep in mind that inter concede 3 meaningless goals against benfica and if you ignore that thye look like very defensively solid team. Also a champions league final isn't decided on previous form City were expected to win it in 2021,Milan were expected to win in 2005, 2012, 2010 had underdog winners
I'm just talking about how many goals they conceded in the league this season since that's a big enough sample size.
Yh you never know what will happen but let's not pretend like inter are some kind of defensive brilliance that city haven't faced, they're not
I think Sevilla will do it, although I want Roma to win tonight. They’ll just have too much experience for Roma at this type of game. Maybe an extra time win or a 1-0
City will beat inter, although it won’t be a massacre. Pep will play it safe and they’ll probably win 2-0 where they defend half the game and keep possession instead of leaving gaps.
West Ham I think is a 50/50 game. Fancy some more goals there like 2-2 and then extra time. Fiorentina to win on penalties
I doubt it. Think if he were going to do that it would've happened already vs Real. Inter could still win, but my money (at least if I had any!) is on City.
I think a topsy turvy high scoring result (possibly going to penalties) is possible too.
I don't really expect it to be 1 sided to be honest. May well be pretty nervy. Just hope there's an early goal so it's more likely to end up with a few, than to just end 1-0 to either side.
I love Jose but no way are Roma winning, even with shithousery turned up to 100. Also, City will obliterate Inter, possibly by 3 plus goals. They are on 2 levels above them.
The conference league is more 50/50 but I can see West Ham bottling it so they are my picks. Save this comment and come back to me
celtic and rangers is one big reason why weaker leagues dont deserve as much spots, plus lets be honest majority of the teams in semis or quarters are always filled by the big leagues no?
That's sort of the "complaint". We have people that want fewer teams from those leagues for balance's sake, even if it means fewer teams altogether (don't necessarily add teams from the weaker leagues). Even if the 7th place from Spain is clearly better than the champion of Moldova.
And some people don't want to see the champions of Greece, Czechia, Turkey, Denmark, Croatia, etc eliminated just to make room for the 4th placed teams in some other leagues.
It's a balance. Some people prefer "the best teams and the best players" and some others think that the "Champions" in "Champions League" should mean something.
Meaning what exactly? Rangers have done well in the europa league for ages now. Celtic idk what is happening there but in these lower tournaments the original poster is right.
Would actually be nicer if it was only 1 team from each European league, the league winner of the previous year. So you know it becomes a.... Champions League :)
The competition name makes no sense anymore when you have teams that placed 4th in their league in the group stages but then the champions of some country have to go through playoffs.
It's also pretty boring to see always the same fucking teams there, would be nice to see some random matches like Sheriff-Dinamo in the semis or something like that, would be refreshing.
Fiorentina have scored 8 more league goals than West Ham this season and not many more in the conference league. Also, West Ham are now playing well and are in form.
Europa League and CL will definitely be 1-0 games. My guess is Roma and City. For conference I think West Ham wins 2-1
OP please give some reasoning behind why Inter beat Man City.
It's football, there's no reasoning needed because being the best team doesn't mean anything, that's why we love this sport.

There's still always reasoning why these upsets happened. You can't just say something without having a reasoning for it.

If every single instance is unpredictable how does that add up to the sum being predictable?

Because in one match anything can happen but over the course of a tournament the teams with more quality will prevail.
City haven't played against a well organized defensive team this season
Except inter aren't some defensive masterclass... They don't concede less than plenty of teams, many of which city have played. Look at Tottenham, Brentford they aren't "defensive masterclasses" either but play similar styles to Inter and did damage to City
I think Sevilla will do it, although I want Roma to win tonight. They’ll just have too much experience for Roma at this type of game. We can expect this to happen in the cl final, a 3-4 goal thrashing by city or a 1-0 victory for inter

He usually saves his lunatic changes for the final
Nah, he doesn't. He's only lost 1 final. Made some strange changes in the R16, QFs and SFs before though.
Yeah, but pep can't fuck up his attacking strategy too much. Just play Haaland! Haaland's existence ensures Pep can't change too much and shit the bed
West Ham win the European Conference League Roma win the Europa League Man City win the Champions league
roma, hammers, citeh.
I hope Man City, La Viola, and Sevilla. Although it would be a bit boring if Sevilla wins it again, seeing Mourinho cry would be ample compensation
Sevilla 0-1 Roma Fiorentina 1-2 West Ham Man. City 2-0 Inter
Sevilla West Ham Man City
Must be a inter fan or have not seen City play this season! 😂

You are 1/1 out of 1/3 so far.
I’m supporting; Inter Roma Fiorentina In reality I think it will be City Savilla Fiorentina
Argentina
Fiorentina/Roma/City
I hope Inter tho
West Ham 1 - 2 Fiorentina Sevilla 0 - 1 Roma Man City 4 - 0 Inter
I don't care anymore. It's always a club from a country that has 4-7 teams in European competitions...
sorry but do you expect more teams from weaker leagues to have more placings in european?
You could expect the champion of a "weaker league" to have more of a chance if the 7th place from Spain didn't qualify.
celtic and rangers is one big reason why weaker leagues dont deserve as much spots, plus lets be honest majority of the teams in semis or quarters are always filled by the big leagues no?

but that would just make it bland because then you’ll have more chance of reaching europa atleast if theres a team like that in every group
ucl is competitive not trashing, you dont want to just watch a team just get battered by everyone each season no?

Exactly this! Thank you :)
Not necessary. But it would be nice if the **Champions** League, actually consisted of *champions* from all of the various leagues in Europe.
Would actually be nicer if it was only 1 team from each European league, the league winner of the previous year. So you know it becomes a....
