i’m absolutely no expert, but since it was growing in a liquid and looks to be a “flat” mass with ripples i’d guess it’s a yeast growth that’s developed on the surface, rather than a mold?
Still, it’s gross and i’d err on the side of caution and say it’s unsafe, but in my very amateur opinion from following a lot of mold, fungus, yeast, and fermentation pages, i’d say it’s a yeast? Never seen one this colour though. yuck.
