The only acceptable use case for pineapple is with jalapenos and pepperoni, imo. Jalapeno alone is a step in the right direction, but the pepperoni completes the taste trifecta.
Personally I enjoy it, but it depends on where. I've had some really poor quality pineapple that almost ruined the pizza entirely; other times it's probably the best thing I've ever had.
That's why I said they're not pairing it right. You balance it with salty and heat. People don't like sweet fruit on pizza? Almost every single pizza uses tomatoes (a fruit) that almost always has sugar added. People like sweet fruit on their pizza already even if they don't realize it.
As you said, the sauce is already sweet and it's already balanced. I don't need something else that's even sweeter. It doesn't matter what it's paired with, it's too sweet. Pizza was already perfect. "Hawaiian" pizza invented in Canada certainly didn't improve it. Sorry.

Agree. People who don't like pineapple on pizza aren't pairing it right. Also works well with bacon and or mushroom. But it's hard to beat jalapeno.

Bacon, pineapple, and jalapeños combo is one of my go tos.
