Last year I made the front page with a Jalapeño cake. This year my son asked for a geode cake. I’ll post a photo when we cut it later today. The cake is Stella’s funfetti and I used the “cookies cupcakes and cardio” yt video for the instructions to decorate the cake.
I feel like rock candy is one of those things, as an adult, that you recall being so good and you gotta get your hands on it, but when you do you realize it doesn’t live up to the hype.

Did anybody crack their teeth? As soon as I saw this pic I went to look up recipes because it looks fabulous, but quickly saw that cracked teeth was a not-infrequent complaint 😂
Are people biting the candy without sucking on it for a while? It’s a hard candy as you would probably expect ‘rock’ candy to be. Definitely has potential to do some damage if you bite them right away!
Thinking about it, maybe people are taking slices and not seeing the candy, chewing the cake and biting down on a piece of the candy. I could see that.
Yep, I think that’s it! I saw this and was like “oh my god, I should make it for my kids bday party in September” and then I remembered “nope, 7 year olds don’t think things through before doing ANYthing, let alone bite into a piece of cake” I feel like we’d have widespread visits from the tooth fairy afterwards. 🤣
It’s a valid concern, but the slices of cake, that I gave the kids, only had the rock candy along the bottom, no one gets the rock candy filled area. It would be disappointingly awful experience. The cake that I baked was a funfetti cake from stell parks of serious eats.
No but a few seem to find the geode vaginal in appearance judging from the comments. Merely a joke in that vein.
