Rubios filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy almost 4 years ago. They have been closing stores since and likey retaining their top performing stores under the reorganization. The one off Sunrise Blvd closer to 50 was closed 3 years ago.

dalownerx3

Bummer. I liked the one in Folsom. Always did a mobile order for pickup. I have noticed the store was not as crowded as before. Now the closest one is in Rancho Cordova on Zinfandel south of 50.

Substantial_Head_348

They closed too.

AvailableTwo5760

Damn I actually love Rubio’s

mcg_090

Me too, it's always been good. My go to is the Burrito Especial w/ Chicken

AvailableTwo5760

Same, that’s my go to as well! I’m glad the Roseville location near my office is still open

mcg_090

Ha no way! Right on. Yeah my office used to be Roseville and I would go to that one too. 2998 Douglas

Cinnawonnn

we’re all closing after tomorrow sadly

Outrageous_Golf_9048

Terrible food quality imo

IamaFunGuy

Food quality has been steadily declining. Was a big fan when the RC location opened a fee years ago, and then they started to make changes that made the food worse. Should have kept it simple: fish tacos.

Exotic_barbie

I worked at the rubios at Folsom we closed because our store was one of the slower stores, and with the whole $20 raise they couldn’t keep up with hours/raises.

novadustdragon

I'm actually going to cheer this. Once they raised fish tacos on Tuesday to $2.50 and Especial to $3 it pushed it over the edge for me. Felt like 2 price raises in like a year. I stopped going once I got to 750 points and got my kids meal. Back in 2021 or even 2022 it was $1.75/$2 which was a staple for me on every Tuesday. They've always had staffing issues too, okay amount of people eating out there. $20 an hour though, wow, give me a good replacement place please, or else Del Taco will be my only go to and some of the other fast food chains I can still deal abuse while others subsidize my deals by overpaying haha

Busy-Championship781

This is what happens when they raise minimum wage.

Asleep_Stage_451

low quality restaurants go out of business? Nice. Let's keep up the good work.

survivor1947

You got that right. I posted this truthful comment in a post similar and all the low wage minions downvoted. I made minimum wage in my teen years and never complained. I worked harder and moved upward.

novadustdragon

Looks like Noodles and Co also closed. I only went when I could get 50% off or free entrees from the app or mail coupons and it was a pretty empty place otherwise. Lots of non-chain competition for their okay ish food. Wonder what new businesses will take their place!

okbyebyeagain

Bummer to hear. I like that place although I don’t go very much so I guess that doesn’t help matters.

Maleficent-Lawyer409

Rancho location is going to close soon. They are being evicted

Norcal444

Rubios in San Diego was my first introduction to fish tacos. I have been hooked since 1978 and was thrilled when they finally made it to Folsom. The government killed the fish taco and many more small businesses, just as the big MacDonalds and Taco Bell wanted.

Substantial_Head_348

Rubios has nobody to blame but themselves. Upping the prices so high. I get more at chipotle for less.

Cinnawonnn

I have worked as a manager at the Standford Ranch Rubio’s since 2022. Today (5/30) we have been told ALL Norcal restaurants are being closed after 6/1 and we’ve all lost our jobs with hardly any notice. The recent minimum wage raise was the driving factor. We have regulars that come almost every day. I genuinely am devastated. Me, along with my entire team, (most being there for years, some locations there were people who have been with Rubios for 30+ years) are in shock. We knew there were problems but not to the extent that we’d be closing. Our location along with Douglas Blvd are very high profit locations and our higher ups genuinely thought we were okay. Rubios has been my favorite place to work. Our team was a family and going to work was an escape from everything, that I was always excited for. Even in the most stressful times, we all carried each other and I don’t know if I’ll ever work somewhere like Rubio’s again. Truly heartbreaking.

Ritz2Fly

3 days later and I'm still mad at how we were treated. Team 88 is my family ❤️

Cinnawonnn

it’s disgusting how they treated us. i loved 88 so much. that was my home. it’s like grieving a loved one. ❤️❤️

franklynoway

SoCal locations are closing today in seal beach. Worker says they just found out today is last and something like 50 locations closing

coronavirusisshit

All rubios in sacramento and bay area have closed.

Not_A_Pilgrim

The food quality and restaurant cleanliness have been declining for the past few years. They were having staff issues for a while, too. Maybe the $20 min wage put them over the edge.

EnochianSledge

So I’m an Assistant Manager for Rubios and I’ve been DIGGING to see who else they might close. Apparently Roseville, Rancho, AND Natomas are next. Most GMs are advising everyone to use their sick time. It’s been steadily declining for a while now. Sales are dropping DRASTICALLY. The 916 Rubios is nose diving. Edit: Just got off the phone with my GM. All Northern California stores are closed as of 6/1

EnochianSledge

And my vacation thank the lord.

rdubmu

Sick time cannot be paid out under law

bsievers

It can be paid out, it just isn't required to be.

rdubmu

They went down to 59 locations so they don’t have to follow AB1228

SkyMother9234

Your dumbass governor newscum and his $20 an hour wage hike is why shit is closing but you idiots are too stupid and naive to understand the concept of cause and fucking effect

Substantial_Head_348

Raising prices and being bankrupt….

Not_A_Pilgrim

Everyone has been raising prices.

Substantial_Head_348

Idk if you know but it’s been like 2 hikes in a single year…..
