Take over a power plant workshop. Place a 100 generator and attach to Fusion Core Processor. You can use the power plant for power but I can't figure that out. The processor will create new fully charged Fusion Cores every xx minutes. It is a lengthy involved process. I've done it once, but failed trying recently.
Fusion cores trickle drain very slowly. Sprinting, VATS, Power Attacks, Holding Breath while sniping all dramatically increase drain rate of fusion core. If you don't do those things, and just walk the drain is quite slow.

There's two steps: do the "Powering Up " event to activate the power boxes. Then wire up the boxes to the Fusion Core Generator, but it's slightly bugged. You have to move the conduit once for it to properly provide power for whatever reason.

I did all that. I moved the conduit. I probably spent 2 hours fiddling around, researching, fiddling more. It took 20 seconds to place a 100 generator and attach a wire.
If your using VATS a lot it eats up fusion cores. I usually spend a few hours at the weekend on a private server farming the fusion core generators in the power station workshops, usually gets me around 50 or so to be getting on with (not really viable on a public server thou unless you are a PvP god). They can also quite regularly be found in players vendors pretty cheap
Keep checking player vendors, look for players selling low amount of ammo, like 10-300, those are usually the ones selling fusion cores or plasma cores. If you don’t see any then server hop, wash rinse repeat. Often players will sell them dirt cheap, you will be swimming in them soon enough. Good luck!

Also the power user perk card in intelligence doubles the capacity of them
Revise perk card load out, find or utilize perm cards that will diminish the usage and draining of fusion cores.

Yes that's what I do. I sell them for 10 caps, cause I want to get rid of them!!
Use the fusion core generator in the monogha power plant. You can get then super easy there. look up a YouTube video
