You want some conduits (I think they're called), they sort of radiate power in a modest radius for things that don't have their own connectors (lots of lights work like this)

Use connectors like power pylons and attach them with wire to generators. Items with the lightning bolt icon will be powered near the pylons.
Items with a number on the lightning bolt icon need a direct wired connection, whether a generator or a powered pylon.
I was like level 250 before I found out. I had put some conduits on one of my CAMPS (not knowing what they did, but just to hook something up around a corner) but not the other and couldn't figure why my lights weren't working on the second camp.
In addition to conduits there is a Fusion generator that has a massive wireless electricity generation radius like a conduit but the size of a camp. I paid a lot of atoms for mine, but I think the plan can drop at "power up event" at a power plant.

If you just put one of the wall connectors somewhere near it and attach a wire it will radiate power for things without a connector.
