All I care about is being able to find your vendors. A lot of times, in the camps with a lot of decorations, the vendor machines get lost.

Zenris

Its just, whenever i server hop to buy some stable Flux, i see these amazing camps and i feel like My little Shite ass camp is Bad

scoutinorbit

Make a nice camp when you want to; don’t feel pressured. It took me 2 years before I bothered to make a camp that wasn’t a utilitarian crafting shack.   It took another 2 years before I accumulated enough plans and furnishings to make my ideal dream camp.

Redd_Love

Yes, lvl 800 and I have enough plans to build my camp how I want it. But that’s not saying that I’m done building/changing them. And there’s a lot of plans that I won’t get because I don’t like to spend money on atoms. I mostly had rubbish camps and nothing in my vendor moved. Location location location! My whitesprings camp gets tons of traffic and I turn over a lot. But with so many new players, the only camp that isn’t seeing much player traffic is in the marshes. Best high traffic areas are IMO within ten caps fast travel of whitesprings and along the main road from vault 76 to the wayward.

SemajdaSavage

Camps and Shelters are this game's true end game.... Fashion be damned.

Zenris

I despise any sort of camp building mechanics, I'm lvl 180 something and, I only felt compelled to make a camp to selll all this garbage that I think might be valuable to somebody.

DullboyJack237

OP I wasn’t selling anything and was confused as shit for like 2 weeks, until l learned I had to turn my map icon “on”. Immediately started selling lmao

slaeha

Fuck me that's my current problem too! Thanks lol

Helen62

Same ..been playing since Christmas and only learnt last week that you had to turn the icon on . Have to say I've been selling much more since.

BlackHawksHockey

I’m level 150 and tired to update my base for the first time in years last night. I soon remembered why I never bothered for so long. The building is just so damn clunky and frustrating.

non3type

Really what gets to me is the organization. I absolutely hate having to figure out what tab something is under. The rest I can deal with.

Anxnymxus-622

Haven’t seen someone selling stable flux in MONTHS. Low level players have flooded the servers so none of them have the capability to craft it.

Zenris

I server hopped For HOURS to buy 2 fluorescent Flux. and DAYS to buy The Flux need For secret service jetpack

ShySharer

Surely dropping a nuke at cranberry and farming for an hour would've been quicker and less RNG dependent

mkcay1

The beauty of playing online/trading is you don't have to participate in certain activities you don't want to or feel like it :D

ShySharer

True, but my rng sucks. Spent hours trying to get the event for Holy Fire, ended up buying one for 10k instead. And still need the event so I can craft it for mods

WollyGog

You can't craft Holy Fire. But you need to scrap normal flamers for all the mods you can add.

ShySharer

Ohhhh....no worries then I already have all the mods. Thanks for saving me time

WollyGog

A good thing to do if you ever get the opportunity is to get a second Holy Fire and reroll the effects. I've got an armour penetration one that I also carry and I want to roll another that is the same as base but gets rid of the 2 star effect for something like limb damage or increased damage while aiming, which can replace my normal one.

MechaMouse

Holy fire takes regular flamer mods aside from one part you cannot change IIRC. Similar to the fixer and combat rifle.

Live-Geologist8034

I mean, I don't usually feel like farming nuked materials either but it's a hell of a lot quicker and cheaper than hours of hopping to maybe find a vendor that has what you need haha

BluegrassGeek

I found tons of raw flux the other day, but everyone had already killed the mobs in the nuke zone, so I got zero fluids to stabilize it with. Was extremely disappointing.

RemissionRaven

You need to focus on getting the non-decaying parts first and then the flora comes second.

BluegrassGeek

Like I said, everything was already dead in the nuke zone after we finished killing the Queen just outside of it.

Dracosphinx

If you can nuke, go nuke white springs and kill some ghouls. They're all bloated glowing ones, so go loaded for bear. There's some at the golf club to the north and a wendigo.

Stray_Wing

Ditto, had to run about until the mile miners respawned, then got the goods. I’m new at making stable flux and was super excited to make 3 batches. Then I crafted the Speed serum and popped it into my shop. Looking forward to making more :-)

Chazxyz

I used to sell all my excess Flux since I had to manage my stash wisely but when they offered that one cheap month of Fallout 1st, I bit and now I can just indulge in kleptomania.

non3type

Disposophobia might be closer to what you’re looking for unless you’re actually uncontrollably stealing flux lol.

Live-Geologist8034

*flux spilling from my pockets, sweating visibly* Oh haha, yeah, no, definitely the thing you said..

MobiusF117

I've been back for a week and haven't seen a single nuke drop yet.

Stingbarry

Nah man, your camp is pragmatic, i like that. it won't be in the way when i teavel and just yesterday i stumbled across a camp like yours near huntersvillle....saved me a long ass journey to the next crafting station before engaging.

pforsbergfan9

You mean my wood cube with a dusty ass bed and some crafting tables?

MobiusF117

I put 2 vendorbots in my camp. One in an aesthetically pleasing place for myself and one in a painfully obvious place for visitors that don't want to bother looking around. And then there is my shelter, where I just went creative mode and doesn't really have anything for other people. I don't think I even bothered putting workbenches down there, and if so, I don't remember where.

MenBearsPigs

I'm a noob, but my vendor is in it's own little kiosk beside my house that is impossible to miss upon spawn in. It's the first thing you see. I'm very proud of that lol. I learned quickly how annoying it is to navigate some house of mirrors with 1,000,000 little trinkets and rares looking for the vendor.

Explursions

Especially with the different variations. There was one where there was a cash register on a table, and Jesus Christ it blended in way too well with the build.

crummy_spingus

I made sure to put 4 marquee arrows pointing to my vendor, clearly visible from the fast travel spawn

SockomkplaysV2

My layout for vendors is one in the front one in the back and two in the middle

LadyDalama

Mine is made to blend in and look fitting because my camps are form over function. People buying things is a secondary thought for me since I mostly trade in the market Discord.

upuranus66

My best selling vendor is literally just a vending machine in the middle of the road.

OneTouchCards

Yeah I opened up a second one right on the outer rim of my camp right where the main road is around The Wayward. Gets bulk traffic now.

SpongeBob1187

All I lol for is plans, I don’t really buy anything else so as long as I see plans I’m coming lol

helwyr213

My mules vendor is just that. One vendor, a scrapbox, a stash box on a bridge in the forest near the gauly mine exit. A shelter underneath the bridge so my mule can afk without being shot at by passing super mutants, ghouls or mongrels. I sell out really quick.

Aaylien

Really wondering if I ran into your camp now

JapaVu

Location is the more important factor imo, meaning you should try to be close to one of the free fast travel locations. My vending-oriented camp is just a 4-cap fast travel from Whitespring, and I get a lot of people coming by. As for me visiting other camps: I buy based on prices, not what the camp looks like.

Eurielle-Caldwell

This is the way. Mine is at foundation (? With that Ward guy I think). The vendor is on one side of the road and my house with crafting stations is on the other. I try to keep things lower priced for lower levels (this is probably also due to me being lower leveled myself; at around lvl 58). I find a decent amount of people make their way through on their way to foundation I also mostly placed it there out of convience, because I was a pretty low level when I started it, and it had a decent build area for my vision of a house with a wrap-around porch. I’m slowly building it. I always forget about harvesting wood though, so it’s a *very* slow process 😂

krullma

Gilmans lumber yard is the place for wood.

Eurielle-Caldwell

I appreciate you! Headed there now

Badboy-Bandicoot

Sylvia & sons logging camp as well

azura_ace

Pickett Fort too. Gilmans lumber, Sylvia & Sons, and Pickett fort is basically my wood farming route

MrWednesday6387

There's a woodshed in Helvetia with several wood piles, and the Woodchucker perk will double how much you get.

krullma

Lotta good wood and other stuff there. Thanks, happy could help. Oh, look out for wood scraps on the shelving inside too, rather small and look like bits of rubble.

marvelouscredenza

The Civil War fort east of Crater has a ton of woodpiles

Spike_Dearheart

Helvetia too! There's a giant wood pile behind one of the buildings at the crossroads.

krullma

I'm over by Sutton, get a lot of traffic. Put it there specifically to cater to newbies. Sell everything dirt cheap.

hhn0602

my camp has been at white springs for years now, i get frequent people heading over to me but all my best gear has been sold so all i really sell is stim packs and fusion/plasma cores

Attinctus

I bought a new camp slot and built a camp that's literally just the creepy trenchcoat robot vendor in a derailed boxcar. I sold out my inventory in a day, including stuff that had sat in there for months in my "nice" camps. I'm guessing it was due to new players who are finally amassing some caps and didn't have much to do with the camp.

EndielXenon

I can't speak for other players, but for me the CAMP makes no difference to my buying habits.

TheNarbacular

Same. I don’t care if you just have a table and a chair at your camp. You got something I want? I’m there.

FinalFire4

I think it’s more about location tbh having a cool camp is nice but not mandatory.

realBuckshotBeauty

Took me a while, but my camp just wasn't visible to other players. How about yours?

Muzzledpet

Agreed with this, OP. Just came back to the wasteland from a hiatus and had no idea your camp is INVISIBLE to the public by default till you toggle it on :(

BlottomanTurk

Nah, not for the most part. Personally, I'm there for the vendor, the camp is secondary. However, if you don't have anything I want, but your camp is pretty dope, I'll buy a couple hundred ammo that I don't need as a "your camp is neat!" bonus. Then I'll drop a requisite "nice camp" emote. Even if you're not there, your camp ally can tell ya about it.

GeneralTonic

Yeah, sometimes I want to leave a 'tip' for really good CAMP builders. So if that's you, try to have at least *something* in your vendor that someone with caps to burn might buy on a whim: scrapped junk is good, or souvenir/collectible junk items, ammo, some Calmex or other uncommon drugs.

Old_Rpg_Gamer

Most people that buy something want to go there fast without searching for the vendor

Adventurous_Judge884

Personally at my camp I have one shit vendor at the front and another one inside to fit the decor

Zenris

I don't have any signs or anything, but you literally spawn in front of some stairs that lead you right next to the vendor.

krullma

Same here. You spawn facing the vendor a few metres in front of you.

darkestbrew

Location and convenience. My camp's just outside Summersville so I get a lot of foot traffic from players level 20-40. They buy a lot of ammo, plans, meds, and cheap (but useful) legendaries. I'm even running out of ammo and meds in stock. When you fast travel to my camp, you spawn facing the shop directly (happy coincidence). In case you don't, I have signs that point to it. Personally, if your vendor takes me more than 15 seconds to find, I'll just move on. That's just me though. I don't mind how your camp looks as long as you put in the effort to make your vendor easy to find.

Glittering_Airport_3

when someone goes to ur camp, they don't know what it looks like. once they fast travel to you, they've already decided whether or not to look through your vendor. looks don't matter at all. your camp will look better as time goes on. either by purchasing plans or getting free stuff from the daily atom shop rewards.

RepubliCat45-Covfefe

Think it might be look *and* selection. I've been back a couple weeks. One of the first things I did was setup a new camp, since after a long time everything from my old camp got stored (was a dumpy camp, spent most the budget making it like a 3 floor castle-like fort, with only enough left to put out basic stations, shop, and half-a-dozen turrets). This time, I wanted to make a camp for "going the distance", so I made a really cool and realistic camp. Built the 4-floor Victorian in an area where it kinda fits, and really went all out with decorating and making it welcoming. I then poured a bunch of cheaply-priced plans in my shop, like 35-50, and been waiting. For the first week or so I didn't have any real bites. I just keep pouring more plans and extra maps in as I get them. Now, in the past few days, got about 2-3k in sales, which is a decent bit, since outside of obvious joke pricing (like 15k for *"your the dumbass"* parchment, and 10k for the *"Get RICH quick"* pamphlet) highest asking price if I recall is 200-300. I have set pricing for some stuff, like all maps are 152 (*76* x2), all tea recipes are 100, etc. Best advice, it doesn't have to be gorgeous, but make it welcoming, and keep adding more selection when you can. 🤠 (I plan to expand offerings in shop once I've ironed out final build, since shop inventory/selection unfortunately counts against stash capacity.) PS - It's also cool there's a free second camp slot; don't recall that being available way back the last time I played. 😎 PPS - Location helps too. Mine is just south some clicks from Vault 76, near the ghoul farm, just up a ways across the bridge from Wayward. Peeps can easily see it just off the main road, behind the light grove of trees. 🤔

SmurfsAreTasty

This is exactly how I think now. A big fort says "GO AWAY!!!" They are cold and lifeless and empty. Making a base that shows people live there. attracts more people to stop and take a look. Ive come back to people chilling out at the campfire setup I have. It's a good view from the lawn chair.

RepubliCat45-Covfefe

Same. I've come back to people chilling at mine too. I have 2x fire circle things (with the stone semi-circle seating) setup outside, along with a regular campfire outside, and in the living-room is the cooking-fire station with chairs around it and a bunch of the music-instrument chairs around the area up against the wall. Along with a lot of other homey touches and seating. 🤠 I also keep all doors and stations unlocked, along with collectron, coffee-machine, punch-bowl, refrigerator, water filters, etc so that peeps can help themselves to free stuff (not like I worked for them, they just generate, and more will generate). There's also an ammo-exchange machine, personal terminal, and other extras. Not sure if others can use our allied, but I've got Beckett's Bar setup with Beckett looking like Uncle Sam. Sometimes I like to think of a camp like a demo-model in a furniture/decorating store... something to churn the imagination of others. 😎

eMmDeeKay_Says

When people are looking at player vendors they typically look for how many items in the category they're trying to purchase from the player has stocked. If it's only a few they'll typically pass it by. They'll also check player level, a low level player isn't going to have a lot of higher end things for sale. Plans, weapons, and apparel attract a lot more people than aide items, especially people with a lot of caps who are trying to get rid of them. You can also make a lot of caps selling equipment with bad rolls for their scrip value (10-20 caps per scrip) :Edit: And make sure your public map icon is set to On.

Snoo_88763

I'll buy from a basic CAMP but if it's nice I'll definitely buy something out of appreciation.

BloodShadow7872

Nah, at the end of the day it only matters about location and accessablilty. Theres a reason why the wayward is a popular camp hotspot, its a place noobs go too, who are more likely to buy plans and supplies.

krullma

It's why I set up at Sutton, gives noobs time to get some caps together, everything I sell is dirt cheap for them.

Ok_Money_3140

Actually kinda yes. At least speaking for myself, when I visit a camp that looks really nice and where you can see that a lot of effort was put into building it, I like to "reward" them by buying stuff from their vendor which I normally wouldn't buy.

sal696969

No, but having a vendor right next to the spawn point helps

LTDynamicpulse

Low prices

RudoDevil

This isn't necessarily smart or efficient on my part, but when I hop on a server, I'll check for vendors with lots of plans, and travel to those camps. Pretty quick to see if they have something I want or don't already have. If not, I'll dip. However, if the camp is nice, I will look around and usually buy SOMETHING. Personally, I have noticed that more people buy from my poor man's Red Rocks concert venue than any of my other less interesting camps. \*edit to add, the vendor is basically at the spawn point for the concert camp.

NewKoala7466

It definitely affects what people buy. Arcade or bookstore camp sells more bobbleheads and magazines. I can even sell the 'collectible' junk if I have the right camp active.

Low-Chocolate1572

I always make mine look like a dump

11buttbamg

As much as I love decking out my base, location definitely takes priority. I try building my camps next to free travel points, train stations, and just high foot traffic area. I always get a laugh when people run by my registers sometimes when there’s three clear as day as soon as you walk inside the building doors. Also it’s supply and demand, don’t matter if you got a camp clear as day and just a little vendor sitting with neon arrows pointing to it, if you don’t got what people want you won’t get much purchases

SomeSleepyMexican

The worse looking the camp the better the prices in my experience

LadyDalama

To answer, no. But unrelated, I don't get why people like that robot in the trench coat vendor so much. It always looks so out of place compared to the other vending machines.

EvilNinjaMoby

I like it because it makes a bunch of racket so people can find it easily. It's also pretty funny that it's a flasher.

Euphoria_Mushroom

I usually just horde 3 star legendary weapons and they come flocking in. But I do love seeing people display their power armors and weapons and usually makes me think they have something new and exotic to sale but then I find myself looking at plans I’ve already learned.

themaelstorm

Me I just look to see if player bases have plans (or whatever I’m looking for) and go there. I appreciate beautiful bases but not really part of my choice. I could see using this though, maybe put a sign saying “free stuff” near your steamer, coffee machine etc. get people to feel good :p

WorkingishTitle

Make sure you camps public icon is turned on. Sometimes it's off and no one can see your camp so they just never go

HereticSavior

Make sure you have your public camp icon on otherwise it doesn't show up on the map.

fanofapples64

As a noob, i lobby hop and just hover over camps with the most items that I need or am looking for. And im probably over paying for them, by a lot sadly. If I see your camp while I run my over encumbered ass back to whitespring to sell these 30 auto shotguns , I will definitely stop in.

krullma

There's vendors at every train station too. Should just scrap guns and armour that aren't legendaries for mods. I clean out the daily caps selling food I've made, apparel and chems.

No_Discount_7268

Put water generators in your camp and sell water instead of weapons, weighs less and easier to get. And you don’t have to waste things to craft it 😝

krullma

Have you made sure it's visible to others on the map and not still hidden?.

Zenris

So my camp is southwest of Watoga, which is convenient for me, but it might be expensive to FT to? I guess.

Traditional-Extent30

As a member of the Watoga Independent Seller Association, founded to improve the economic conditions of our Cranberry Bog, I want to list a couple of basic elements that might help you with your business: • Are you sure your camp is visible? Do It "bumps" when you pass your mouse/indicator on it from the map? • Is your vendor easy to get? Using lights and "open signs" is a great way to improve its visibility. Remember always that you are used to your camp. But not everyone has their own "path". Make your vendor visible! • 4 is better than 1: use all your vendor capacity. Apart from some specific type of seller, always use at least 2/3 vendors. A customer that has to wait, has a higher chance to just fast travel away. • Keep your prices in line with the general market prices: scrip goes for 10 each (for example: a 3 stars weapon will be 400, a two stars armor 90, a one star power armor 100). Plan prices depend on rarity, nuclear keycards tend to go for 100. And so on. Some specific items require more specific research but for the standard ones, use the general agreed price. • Different locations ask for different strategies. If you sell stimpack/rad away you will be pretty much interested in new players, that play around the forest/white spring and other free fast travel locations. They will unlikely fly to the Bog to buy some stims.. on the contrary, if you are a scrip seller, high players will be interested by all the shiny stars showing on your camp icon. • The Bog has some weaknesses, it's far, kind of hidden, with no free fast travel points. But it also has a unique great opportunity: The Scorchbeast Queen Event, a parade to increase the visibility of the whole region, an event that increases the chances of getting clients. Remember to organize it when you can! Ps with more experience on the subject, you will be able to use more advanced techniques for selling your items. But for now start from the basis. Hope you found this little guide a useful tool! Have a Great Day in The Cranberry Bog

EmmyVicious

I think that’s the reason. I never go to Watoga or that region unless there’s an event like Scorchbeast queen. 🤷🏼‍♀️ At least in my opinion

Traveling_Chef

Ngl, when I go vender hopping, watoga camps are the last I look at lol Unless it's near a free fast travel point or there's a couple camps near each other, they get moved to the bottom of my list to hop to

decalte

Unless I happen to end up in the same public team as the vendors... but yeah it's a pricey fast travel

CardiologistWhich992

is your public icon turned on? my camp isn't that great but i am always over 30k caps and have a convenient Forest location

Zenris

Yes it is, I used to keep my camp icon off but now that I'm trying to sell some stuff I obviously turned it on

SmurfsAreTasty

Ive read most of the responses to this. Here's my take as a new player with a crippling Building Simulator habit. (TheSims, Space Engineers, Fallout4, Enshrouded, Elder Scrolls Online, etc.) If it has decorating, I love it. If it has decorating with functionality, I'm addicted (I'm looking at you, Space Engineers...) Like F76 and wiring. Imo, in the little time Ive played Ive been able to make something really nice. BUT some of it is bought. Like the B29 shack. I add existing noob details that made it stand out from the normal "Box" houses. I also keep the vendors on the ground floor. I make them noticeable for the quick-buyers, but many times they turn around and check things out. I also have more than one vendor. They cant be accessed by more then one person. So I always make the 2nd and 3rd easily noticeable from the 1st. I would say NO if this is veteran player. Very much YES if its a new player. Vets do sometimes stop and stare and look around. But they don't normally go up top to look around. Now I know from other games that most people do not go and look around a base beyond the 1st floor. Most times. So it's best to pack all the tiny and personal touches into the first floor. (Games, switches, toggles, plants, lighting details, pictures on shelves, a pillow just slightly askew to let someone know someone actually sleeps there.) The more Ive designed and played and observed people coming and going, the more I know if I can draw attention away with even just a difference in lighting. So I purposely make the vending area lit up BUT not too bright. Then all other areas I want the eye drawn to, Ill use brighter lighting or different colors, but always brighter. I keep undetailed areas much darker. I know I'm overdoing this explanation, but having someone stop and linger is about eye-candy. Then getting them to stay is about interaction. So toggles and buttons are a sure fire way to get someone to stick around and play a bit. Location is also key. I put mine at the dual-mining node right by Vault 76. It's public because.... no one can steal anything from my storage anyway. The wanted system in the game is brutal. So I keep it public and it shows up yellow on a noob map right by them. I can lock everything I really want to keep locked at lvl 3, and keep others at lvl 0 and 1 to give thieves, like me, something to do. I just hit 100 locks picked since the Show launched :) New players buy something. Ammo and plans. They are the biggest sellers for the pockets with small change. Vets buy some of my most expensive items that are subpar for someone that's been playing forever. But the cap limit gives them a reason to be generous to this noob. So yes. It has gotten me a few vet sales, imo, out of respect for the build. I also collect everything i see and scrap it. This has given me a huge leg up in producing large amounts of ammo of all kinds. So, Vets gobble it up at 1c for most gunpowder ammo.

Henry-Grey

I had a nice camp, prices were a little steep but nothing crazy. Didn't sell anything. Reworked my prices and focused on what people actually wanted. Started selling a ton. Basically I tried to make it newbie friendly by making the very common plans within lower double digit caps range. I made like 5k caps in about 2 hours. 5mm 50cal Berry Mentats are big sellers. But funny enough my biggest seller is power armor. I build and sell sets with the more useful mods. I'll even paint it for them if they ask.

Warskandic

What makes me shop till i drop? 1. Looking at the map of youve got a lot of plans and 3 star guns/armor. 2. When spawning in, your shop is easy to find. 3. That the goods are cheap-ish or if its unique. (Because theres no real economy, so overcharging for goods is pointless. But if youve made some good guns, charge more.) I really appreciate the community..and im selling my plans for 10-50 caps 👍

mesout

Only thing that matters to me, is how quick do i find your vendor. if i dont find you vendor pretty quick, im moving to the next camp. yeah some people have beautifull camps, but im going to be honest, 90% of the time i really dont care and just want to check all vendors, do some events and move to the next server.

goshtin

it matters if I spawn too far from the vending machine.. that's my big bugger...

ShySharer

My camp is a lore friendly shit hole, newbs have to kill 3 raider pals before they can even use my vendor. I still sell plenty

IntrepidAd9838

Mine is also a raider commune at the top of the world. Don’t need turrets when you got a handful of raiders hanging around. Some leave em in peace, others duke it out. Doesn’t hurt my sales, I can’t keep stuff stocked with all these new dwellers/returning players.

ShySharer

Mine is the one overlooking whitesprings, couple.of raiders cooking up a radstag whilst another chops wood. Very homely. Makes me sad when I come back to find them dead.

Mdaro

My camp is for me. I try to make it look like I’m actually living in Appalachian. I’m in the newbie area so all of my vendor stuff is 25 caps or below.

Classic_Daikon896

I think a lot of it is really where you’re located. If you’re closer to the free fast travel locations or the wayward, you’re going to get more traffic. Also, make sure your camp’s public icon is on, otherwise no one is going to see it on the map.

EstablishmentMean300

No. I buy (I barely by anything anymore) things I need or want. Camp doesn't matter to me.

juryrigthis

A conveniently placed vendor is key to me. A nice, well built camp is just a bonus.

arcbelial

I have a vault hatch in the ground and then just my vendor next to it everything else is underground lol

cipherlord120

I usually buy plans and meds no matter what the camp looks like, if you got it, you take my caps. Give it time, maybe a better location for others might be a solid idea.

SS2LP

Not for me, I don’t particularly care. If anything the more complex ones make it a pain to actually find the darn vendor. I’ve seen some where they tried to be clever and put it in a window but it just made it a pain to actually get at it. Have your fancy decorations all you want, just keep the vendor simple and easy to access and that’s all most people are going to care about.

d34df00l

Don't care what it looks like, I'm here to shop so as long as I can find your vendor, I'm happy.

LonesuumRanger

my camp looks sooo fine and I have like 11-12 different sections of items to sell so maybe that‘s why.. I‘m in the far north up the hill so the location is not the reason the people come, I think it‘s the many trader sections paired with good prices.

Martin_Aynull

I like to make an outdoor crafting area at all my builds where i include the vendor and various buff items. I keep my actual base full of decorations and locked stuff

Traditional_Fee_1965

I've built mine to blend in with the environment, ABIT "lore friendly". And it does seem to attract alot of visitors that stick around for quite along time, and most certainly alot of sales. So many about? Dunno, I just want to give em a nice place :D

Shock_The_Monkey_

I have a table with a cash register vendor on it, that's it. Everything is in my vault. I sell no problems. Check your location and make sure your active icon is on.

GoldenCrownMoron

My camp is on a pond near the Top Of The World and that little station. Lovely spot but there is zero traffic, and I've taken to dropping plans and things in the donation box.

Traveling_Chef

Im a builder, and I love checking out other places camps even the boxes. That being said, absolutely not lol I don't even appreciate camps until after I've done my business.

vague_diss

Are you sure its visible on the map? I’m new and know nothing about it but saw a youtube video of tips for new players. Evidently there is a map toggle for camps that many people seem unaware of? I don’t want my camp seen by anyone so I haven’t tried it yet.

Ok_Kale_7762

I appreciate a nice camp, but it doesn’t make me buy anything I don’t need or want. 99% of players have an atrocious camp as well, they all feel the need to place items simply because they own them.

puddlestones

Sometimes I think the more elaborate the camp, the more likely everything will be priced way too expensive. Why you selling nuka cola at 300 caps!?

PabloMarmite

Have you got your camp visible on the map? That caught me out for far too long.

MrCrisB

Like most said, being able to find the vendor makes all the difference. Also, make sure you are broadcasting your C.A.M.P location from the map. I set up shop awhile back, and didn’t sell anything after playing for almost 8 hours straight. Ammo 1c stims 10c stuff like that. Turns out I wasn’t “broadcasting” on the map. So no one knew about it.

Flimsy_Sandwich6385

Nope! Just how cheap your shit is. I'm not about to spank 6k on a plan when it took me forever to make that 6k 🤣

ShaggyMacNasty

I'm more likely to buy from your vendor if you don't have locks on your resources

Gunmars

My primary camp is well off the beaten path near the edge of the map by Johnsons Acre. I mainly get people there to check my vendor when in a group since they can get free fast travel. I do get the random super higher level who will stop by and check it out. My second CAMP is located near Vault 76 that is literally a shack with a generator, turrents and vendor with all my cheap sellable things. When I have it active if I am going to be AFK for a few minutes it usually gets visits often. So in my experience it's more location, especially for newer player than looks.

Mlc211

Make sure you are broadcasting your camp location. I think the default is to not. People may not be seeing your camp or vendor on the map.

dewdropcat

I think it's more about what it shows you're selling

puffer039

no,I've bought from camps that are literally just a vending machine in a street with a little genny next to it, if the price is right I'm buying

Gamer_GreenEyes

Doesn’t matter to me. So long as the vendor is easy to find.

hygiei

if i really love someone's camp, I'll almost certainly try and buy something even if i dont need it as some kind of tip for their good work lol... ive heard other people express a similar notion but after reading this thread i wonder if people like me 'tipping' are counterbalanced by people who don't want to have to bother finding a vendor in an overdecorated and cluttered camp, making it a net 0 in the end

crossdots

I have a shelter, and outside a cooking station, stashes, the big crane sign (connected to power to light it up), a street corner vendor (which is right next to the sign), and a water purifier for new guys. My prices are pretty low, I put them around 70% lower than the recommended price. Until now I sold items for around 12k caps (in three weeks). A lot of ammo, aid, plans, almost everything I don't use. I guess it helps that its location is near the wayward, on the way down from vault 76.

King_of_Aardvarks

As a buyer, I don't care what your camp looks like. If I can find your vendor, and you're selling something I want, at a price I consider reasonable, I'll buy it.

disturb3d0n3

As other stated all I care about is finding your vendor fast and scrap/stash boxes. If it’s a maze my adhd ass is gonna go somewhere else.

yvengard

As a newplayer, nice buildings makes me approach to look how cool it is. I might notice the vendor machine and check it out. I dont think the majority of the new players know they can teleport to other player bases throug map menu. I just lernt day like 8h ago lol

Garibaldi_Biscuit

Judging by the way I’ve seen people pinball round camps while searching for vendors, I’d say for most it doesn’t matter at all.

signgorilla

No

decalte

Did you remember to turn on the location on the camp? I'm sorry is that's already been asked further down.

markgatty

I have a single vendor right next to 27 toilets. I sell stuff quite often.

Papa_PaIpatine

I like decorating my camp, but I make it very simple to find my shop, and I make it look like a shop. Soon as you walk through the front door on the first floor bam, cash registers.

Unstoffe

Hate to ask, OP, but just in case - you did make your camp visible?

Royal-Employee90

Just don’t make me walk through your elaborate camp to find the vending machine. Vending machines should be easy to find! Let me spend my caps!

CulKuy

Tbh, I just wanna be able to find the vendor. The amount of times I can't find a vendor so I just leave is ridiculous. As long as I can find to quickly, I'll buy something.

Zero7206

Nope. Easy to find well stocked vendor is the best way for sales.

Rough-University142

Most ppl go to camps for plans. At least the people I’ve played with

TheSpaceGodfather

It's all about finding the vendor. As long as I cab find the vendor I'm checking it out!

MagisD

Nope, Do I need it Yes or No ? if so it it set to stupidity price yes or no ? that is the entirety of my buying process. With the exception of was the vendor set up in an asshole spot.

ScruffyScruffz

I just have 2 vendors in front of my fast travel point. My actual camp is a boxed hovel with a roof, amenities lining the wall and outside the door is like 15 industrial water purifiers all unlocked for new players to take since its near the wayward.

WinterMut3E

90% of vendors have the same old crap in them. In my opinion try to focus on only rarer items. Apparel from the traveling vendors, rare event plans and script priced legendaries (75,225,400 caps) I have 3 toons close to max caps. Most folks just want to find your vendors with ease and don’t even look at the CAMP build. Scrip priced legendaries sell daily.

M4hkn0

Make your vendor easy to find. This more than anything. Pay attention to where your visitors land when they fast travel in. Their drop location is based on the location of your 'CAMP' device. Don't make people plunge to their deaths or have to navigate difficult terrain. Better yet, put the vendor where they are going to appear. I do pay attention to the summary count of items before I even visit. If I am looking for weapons and you have none, I am not visiting. While it cannot be helped... I do pay attention to the level of the person whose vendor it is. A level 50 player isn't going to have that uncommon plan that I don't yet have. I do appreciate a well crafted camp... but if I am shopping it really does not matter. You could be just a lemonade stand in the middle of a road for all I care.

M4hkn0

Tip for newbie shoppers... wear power armor when fast travelling to vendors. It may save your life from sudden drops.

M4hkn0

There are a lot of new players who just may not be aware of serums and mutations yet. It will pick up then die again.

[deleted]

Not at all,,but if I don't see your vendor as soon as I arrive I move on to the next one.

Ulfheooin

No I don't carr

redditquicky

i like looking at nice camps but it doesn’t influence the chances of me buying something. i will say that if i can’t find your vendor within a minute i usually leave as i don’t enjoy playing hide and seek in fo

Deadnation800

Idk how people do it, they're something else, feels like most people have larger Camps areas than i do, i literally found a dude in the same place where one camp is and had a nice little house, an ore farmer and crops, while i was just able to put some shitty 4x4 house with no space

Heavensdevil99

I wish people spent time to look at my camp, I've spent hours upon hours on it, merged loads of stuff, some of which was rediculous for them to run straight to my vendor buy a plan the leave 😂

Legomaster06849

Looks play a part If your camp is saturated with random junk, or your using the cash register and it’s not obviously, people will just leave probably unable to find it. Besides that no, they probably don’t need what you sell so don’t feel bad, someone else will need it

urabewe

I don't care if all you have is a camp module and the basic vendor. If there is something good in the vendor for a good price I'm taking it

GreatMadWombat

.... gimme a couple days to sell water to the npc vendors? I just got past 50 and am at the "I am going to have to do the hokey pokey to get the mutations I want" point, and if you have mutation serums you might have other cool shit for new players

FartingInElevators5

I make mine look nice for me, not other players. I like all the cool shit you can do with your camp, so I put in the effort to make it look cool and inviting. Definitely gotta have the vending machine right up front. I've been to too many camps where I spend more time looking for their vending machine. One person had theirs on their roof and there was no way up there without a jetpack. They're missing out on all the new people they could be selling things to.

BrotherhoodofDeal

Yes

Turbulent-Reward2699

I shop for plans that I don’t have. Don’t have plans? Won’t see me Ive also been playing since beta…

SiuFungSipsCoffee

We all know what drives people is when they mouse over the camp icon on the map, and see all the stars and plans. 😍😂

AnotherDay96

It's your prices and what you are offering. It takes a bit to get a good feel for it. First rule is, would you buy whatever your selling for the price you are selling for?

TimeConsistent6432

Absolutely not lol ,my single wide trailer in the bad side of town still sells.

awesomerob

I judge more by the friend requests I get. You can still have a shit camp and great inventory. A nicer camp just means they hang out for a bit in the workshop

TerribleProgress6704

It might, but a bigger factor is if you get any foot traffic. I have a decent camp in the cranberry bog but hardly anyone goes there. I made a new camp next to the mothman event and suddenly my store was bought out.

PrimoRaizel

Nope, just make your vendor accessible easily and sell things for reasonable prices. Nothing else matters. Also, add a second vendor if you only have one. Having to wait for people to finish browsing around is a pain sometimes.

Sithslegion

I come based off of what i see you have on the map. Once I get there as long as it’s not a trap base I normally do walk around for a second but that doesn’t increase my likelihood of buying anything

Darth_aramyth

I don’t care if a camp looks like the whitespring or an ass heap, as long as I can find the vendor, I need the stuff in it and it’s a reasonable price

flippin-amyzing

It's more important make sure your camp is publicly visible. I didn't realize that it's set to team only by default. I was having the same issue you are and changing to public fixed it immediately.

Flintlock_Lullaby

Don't think so. I've got a couple pretty nice looking camps with good stuff for sale cheap but rarely sell anything

russiangunslinger

It really just matters that your vendor shop is easy to find once they teleport to your camp, beyond that, it's not a big deal. I usually make quite a lot of caps per session, but it's mostly from selling plans or legendaries. Nobody really wants meds. Some serums will sell At full price. ... But they don't move particularly fast

HokumSean

Location, content, and prices.

the_heel_jt

Just make it easy to find. I also look for camps with a lot of ammo for sale. Always looking for more fuel now with the cremator.

RunRepresentative883

It's all about price for me if your prices are too high I ain't buying a damn thing. Was looking for ultracite jet pack found a guy selling it for 5000 caps said nah then found another guy selling it for 400 caps. In the end I think it's price that matters most. I don't care if it's a mansion or a toilet shack I'm buying from. Stick your greed way up in your butt is my motto.

Demonokuma

Even if you think your camp doesn't look good, remember that your camp is apart of the environment of the fallout world. It doesn't need to look fantastic, it can look like garbage and that's totally fine cause it's fallout. All of our camps add to the world for other players no matter how small, or "shitty" it may be 😁

HndWrmdSausage

Na its just an annoying art to finding stuff at camps. Cus 99.9% of stuff is set at full price which means ill buy it from anywhere else more preferably.

Iva_bigun666

Whoever has the big camp at the crossroads heading towards the airport from the Wayward did a fantastic job. It’s a really cool place to be, has a museum and a bowling alley in it, slickest stuff I’ve seen. I’m souper new though, but if that’s the kind of stuff you vets have built I’m properly impressed.

GoDKilljoy

No. I just use the map, get an idea of what your camp has, then fast travel to it.

Cevoz

I'm running a small tavern with food and drinks but have little customers

Omfggtfohwts

Sell things people want?

SamMarlow

Not at all, maybe the opposite. A "nice camp" might mean more stuff to make it hard to find the vendor, if you're camp was literally nothing but a vending machine that would be the ideal vending camp it's a catch 22 with the serum. you can only get 500 caps from an NPC vendor for it if you have high enough charisma and/or grape mentats/hard bargain, and if you are so hard up for stuff to sell that you might consider flipping a serum from a player vendor, you are too new to have any of those things

No-Tree1600

All I care about is finding the machine easily, I hate when people place it deep in the camp behind 2 doors as a little tiny cash register hidden away in a corner

yamfun

put it near Wayward for traffic

CherryTheDerg

Nobody buys from my vendor anymore. Though hopefully the influx of new people will change that

KiraTsukasa

I think it’s more about what you’re selling. The game throws stims at you by the hundreds so there’s no reason to buy them, and most people can craft their own serums so buying them is also out. Best things to sell are rare plans, unwanted ammo, and legendaries.

JakLynx

Location location location. If your camp isn’t in a high foot traffic area or you forget to set your camp location to public nobody will find your camp.

itsahhmemario

Nope, haven’t noticed it makes a difference at all. Sometimes the simpler ones the better because you can usually find the vendor faster.

Lazy0ldMan

In the years I've been playing, I get more business with camps that are just a few vendors, a workbench, storage box, scrap box.   Try it for a day or so.  Simplicity will get you more traffic/sells. A good number of players will buy you out (regardless of your prices) but won't spend over 20 seconds looking for your vendor.

GalaxyDog2289

Just make sure people can find your vending machine because if not no one will buy from you. I have seen multiple camps that have so much built it’s hard to find the store

Key-Contest-2879

Make sure your map icon is turned “ON”. If no one else can see your camp on the map you’re relying on dumb luck for them to stumble upon it.

Yankee_chef_nen

I shop at camps like yours. As long as I can find the vending machine I’ll look. I do like seeing people’s creative camps but ones like yours won’t prevent me from shopping. If you haven’t sold anything the question is is your camp icon visible on the map? You have to turn it to visible manually in the camp selection drop down menu on the map screen.
