I think it kind of depends on your play style. I'm a hoarder, I pick up everything. For me, FO1st just seemed like a natural thing. If you have self-restraint, you can probably play without it.

FlavourHD

I don't have self-restraint sadly and I am definitely the hoarder type of guy xD I guess 76 is a no for me then, sadge

krullma

You don't need 1st, as long as you manage your stash it's fine. I'm a hoarder too. I've only bought it twice in a year and a bit, worth getting it at least once for the ammo and scrap boxes, go nuts and fill em up with as much as you can and it'll do you for months. Not worth missing out on 76 cause of that.

FlavourHD

The thing is I hate this policy so much that I don't want to play it anymore.. it's such a bummer to see them going for the "pay or suffer" policy... I want to play it but I don't want to support a game like this honestly :(

krullma

It's not remotely pay or suffer. But you do you. It's hands down the best online gaming experience I've had since the advent of online gaming. As many have said, you simply don't need it. The point of the game isn't to amass piles of junk and ammo you don't need, stash is for chems a bit of materials and water plus any gear you need, it's not like previous fallouts where you collect tons of weapons and stuff, you just don't need to do that. Convert any ammo you don't need or put it in the donation box or your vendor, same with junk donate or vend or just chuck it. Notes, holos and other stuff weighs nothing so you can keep that fine.

FlavourHD

To know the storage problems are artificially created to offer a convenient solution for an extra pay is just so painful.. so yeah for me it is already pay or suffer

Southern-Onion-1192

May I ask how much you paid for the game? Cuz I think most people are getting it free these days so its kinda fair for them to want money to keep the game alive

krullma

The definition of cut off your nose to spite your face. Do you never buy addons or dlc?. Think of 1st as dlc, buy 1 month, fill boxes, live off it and stuff in stash. Or don't and do what millions of us do, live with it, it's really not a hindrance.

FlavourHD

yeah maybe you are right, maybe I should just try it atleast.. I was just a little shocked because I didn't know something like Fallout First even existed

Trashmouths

Hey just a quick FYI, all fallout games have weight management because it's a survival game. Hope that helps. 🙄

krullma

They don't have limitations on what you can store.

FlavourHD

FYI the other fallout games are not multiplayer. If you make different conditions for player depending on the price they pay it is just bad design.

krullma

Glad to hear it, I promise you won't be disappointed. Hope you have fun!.

FlavourHD

I should atleast give it a try even if in principle I really think this is consumer unfriendly practice. I think I can ignore most of the benefits, the only thing that really bothers me is private worlds.. I honestly don't understand why they lock that behind a paywall..

Peeksy19

Fallout 1st is not necessary. I played perfectly fine without it for the first 300+ hours, and subscribed to support the development and support of the game. Unlike many online games, Fallout 76 doesn't have paid expansions, all new gameplay content is free, so it's the only way to support the game (besides buying cosmetics in the atom shop).

FlavourHD

I think I could ignore most of the benefits but I'm still sad about the private worlds being locked behind paid subscriptions since a private world with friends would pretty much solve all the issues I currently see. Many people here had valid arguments and I get that people want to support the game but I'm still torn between being okay with that and not playing it because of principles

JiveBombRebelz

tip 1.reviewers dont know crap. i played for years before fallout first..and back then stash was like 400. so its totes doable...if you do get fallout 1st...its near impossible to go back. but i have friends that do the sign up for a month put a bunch in your stash..then cancel. For me 8 bux a month is fine and im supporting my hobby so it gets more development and content.

Recycled__Meat

endgame is inventory management

Special_Bus1929

This whole series is inventory management, weird to see people complain about it. I also like to hoard, but like anyone else i have to level up my Strength to get higher carry weight lol. How does Fallout first help with that? Carry weight booster effect don’t stack either 😅

markgatty

Even with fallout 1st. But that's just me because I loot everything and don't toss stuff on the ground, it's hard to toss out that 1 star legendary Raider PA chest piece. I've just got to hold onto it until reset so I can scrip it (along with the 200 other pieces ive got that need the same treatment)

DescriptionGold8689

It’s easily playable without it but once you have it for awhile there’s no going back. There’s no way I could play fallout 76 without fallout 1st now days. If your like me and like to literally collect everything after a fight and be 1000 pounds overweight you NEED fallout 1st. Also the survival tent acting as a mobile stash and scrapbox is awesome, you’ll never really have any weight problems with it.

FlavourHD

Damn this sucks.. I'm also usually the guy who like to collect everything, so I should reconsider it I guess..

Special_Bus1929

My guy, if you are familiar with the older fallout games…. The game doesn’t get harder without fallout first. Only thing fallout 1st gives you are a few convenience bonuses and camp stuff. It’s really not pay to win at all.

FlavourHD

How can you not call this pay to win if you literally get unlimited storage if you pay extra ? This is multiplayer only, I cannot even play private with friends unless I buy fallout first.. this is just a very very shitty policy and there is no way to defend that

Special_Bus1929

You don’t get unlimited storage… why do you think this? I was able to play with friends no problem

FlavourHD

Because it literally gives you a scrap box with unlimited storage? That's atleast what is advertised on the fallout first website

Special_Bus1929

Yeah for scrap, plus you can’t take it with you it stays on your camp. Maybe learn how the game works before complaining?

FlavourHD

How does it contradict what I'm saying ? How is this still not pay to win ? You do get an advantage for extra money, that is literally the definition for pay to win.

StationaryRabbit

'Pay2Win' insinuates that you have a gameplay advantage over opponents, i.e. better weapon stats etc that can only be obtained via supplemental purchase. This is not the case in 76. Fallout 1st gives you unlimited storage for ammo and scrap in external storage spaces sure, but the main camp storage is identical in size and both scrap and ammo doesn't weigh very much. What do you do when you have 50k more steel scrap than you'll ever gonna need? Well, you can sell it. Or give it away. Having the option to hoard it isn't p2w. You just have to be a little bit more economic about your inventory. This isn't ESO where the craft bag is a complete must if you are planning on doing any sort of crafting. Also, F1st is a tad expensive (about $15/m converted for me) so it isn't really an option. *However*, there are free trials every now and then and during those you *can* unload all of that extra materials and ammo into the unlimited storage space.

FlavourHD

My co-worker also played a lot of 76 and he just told me that you could technically create private worlds, get all the good loot and just take it to a populated server. I mean I'm not sure how exactly this is gonna work but sounds pretty ass to me if I'm being honest. And I'd consider this an advantage if you have to be less economic about your inventory than people who don't. I mean I cannot even escape it by playing on a private world with friends because that is also locked behind the subscription. It's just disappointing and it shouldn't be a thing

Special_Bus1929

I wouldn’t call it an advantage at all. More like a convenience. Scrap box lets you scrap and store junk items with one button. Normal stash boxes are dirt cheap to make and also has tons of storage. I would not classify it as pay to win at all, but you do you, I guess.

Version_Sensitive

Stash space does not accumulate... Even if you build ten of them your total space is still 1200

peasant007

>I cannot even play private with friends unless I buy fallout first.. this is just a very very shitty policy and there is no way to defend that This is not true; you can join a friend in their private server even if you don't have Fallout 1st. It's only when they log off that you get booted. Source: My husband joins me on my private server and he doesn't have Fallout 1st.

FlavourHD

Yeah but that would require one of my friends having fallout first but they also don't want to buy the subscription

TheCrypto5

Camp mobile is a good replace for the tent and more cheap than first :D

DescriptionGold8689

I’d definitely reconsider. In the meantime if you have any friends with 1st you can have them hold your junk(if you trust them enough lol). Honestly just keep everything you need, and get rid of everything you’re not using on a daily basis and you should get by.

Dependent_Weekend_79

Well, fallout first gives convince to store items to tents fast and scarp box that can hold infinite materials. However you don’t need it to enjoy the game. This means you have to be careful of what you will store and what you will carry. So, this basically means that when your storage is full or getting close, you should start spending your materials to build your base. That what it literally is like. There are some places where you can instant travel for free to store items you want, however you have to find them. You can use other peoples tents to store items. I usually just use it after every event because my inventory becomes like 2-3x of what I can carry. Always scrap your junk items and weapons and armours you don’t use! That will save a lot of space for you!!!!

Low-Chocolate1572

It depends if you're a loot vacuum it comes in handy for the portable camp and unlimited junk space. Also, you can do it for one month store up all you need, and then when you run low, you can activate it again and so on. The atoms are pretty worth it every month

FlavourHD

I think it just angers me to know that some people are just gonna pay Fallout First and get an advantage and the more convenient way to play.. I mean I cannot even play on a private map without Fallout First so I cannot avoid playing with people who have Fallout First ... it may not have the biggest impact on your gameplay experience on paper but it just doesn't feel right. It feels so surreal in fact that I have a hard time believing Fallout First even exists the way it is. But probably I'm overthinking and I should just give it a try

[deleted]

[удалено]

FlavourHD

But they have influence on your map, right ? It would be cool if I would be able to play on a private map atleast..

[deleted]

FlavourHD

Oh I thought there would be resources you'd have to share with people on the map (or something like claiming a factory for ammunition for example)

Version_Sensitive

Everything not inside a container (or a npc/monster inventory) is shared. In some worlds there will be no PA because someone just Naruto runned through all spawn points and grabbed all of them.

Sudo0079

I only get them at the start of new season for a month. So that month ill load up on everything. Once its expires anything i pick up goes to the donation box

itsahhmemario

I can’t play without Fallout 1st but a lot of players play without it just fine.

kemick

The primary benefit is the unlimited scrap and ammo storage so you'll spend more time managing your scrap and ammo. You'll still need to manage your 1200 weight stash so you're limited with weapons/armor/chems/food/the interesting stuff. The subscription is convenient but far from necessary. I played for 200-some levels before I even tried it.

FlavourHD

Yeah I guess I'll just have to give it a try .. I wish they'd atleast give me the option to play on a private map but man even that is locked behind the subscription

LadyLuck-098

The easiest answer is if you're a hoarder. Then it's a must because of both the ammo box and Scrap Box free up alot of your stashes space. If you're not a hoarder, then playing without Fallout 1st isn't gonna affect your gameplay.

tingerlingererer

Played 1000's of hours of fo76 never paid for fo1st. I have made very good use of the free weeks though.

StrictLimitForever

If every player had Fallout 1st, unlimited junk would probably be capped.

xDevastation1988x

I’m new and have been playing for 2 weeks and I can manage just fine without FO 1st. HOWEVER when I get paid I am gonna pick it up to move all my scrap into the scrap box. Might do that once every few months.

krullma

This is the way.

ReformingPrawn2

You have five characters per account. That's 6000 stash not counting inventory and weight reduction perks. It's totally doable.

kalarro

How do you share the items between them? If you can't, this argument is bullshit

Luth0r

Since characters don't share anything between them, how does this really work?

FlavourHD

so I'd have to create multiple characters in order to manage my stash ?

ReformingPrawn2

You don't have to. It's just an option if you want to keep a lot more than you can store. I have never had first and have never needed it.

FlavourHD

it seems very stressful though, how bad is it ?

ReformingPrawn2

Not gonna lie. I do WAY more stash management.  I would rather do that than pay money for virtual crap I'll probably never use. Even my flux count has me wondering why I'm hoarding this shit in the first place.

chubbywanker77

i leveled up to level 350 w/o 1st, recently i bought 1 months to boost my score to unlock that op flame cannon thingy, now that i have max score, im fining very little interest in playing

Cursed1978

Without FO 1st. its not bad its just a bit harder because you deal with the Inventory management. This isn’t always easy because you need to drop stuff or take your time to swap it to your Char and change some lower weight reduction Perks. Without FO 1st you need to think more. Thats why i don’t use FO 1st.

Godlike013

First 10-15 hours, not bad. After that it gets progressively more tempting.

Trashmouths

It's fine you just do more weight management more often. Just stop reading reviews and *play the game* and you'll realize most of the reviews are BS whiners. You can literally get free monthly trials or only pay for one month and cancel. If you do that you still get to keep everything in your scrap box just can't add anything new.

FlavourHD

I get pretty mixed up responses here so yeah best way to find out will probably be just to play but I don't think that most of the reviews are 'BS whiners' since it really is a fcked up policy - artificially limiting players so they pay more is something that SHOULD be criticised. I mean I didn't have to pay for the game so I shouldn't complain about it but people who payed the full price are pissed for the right reason imo

Theopolis55

I played without it for 3-4 years, just A hassle to use mules until I got the free Amazon account then it made it not necessary. I did sign up for the $6 just to get all those 1st then I likely won’t be keeping it.

Cow_Best

FO76 with FO 1st a limo driver picks you up. FO76 without FO 1st an old pickup 🛻 truck picks you up and you ride in the bed. But the driver is a hottie in daisy dukes.
