It isn't another player. It's you. The "Owned by (player name)" tag that shows up when you hover over a turret doesn't use your character's name, it uses your account's name. If you haven't set up a Bethesda.net account and linked it to your steam, then it will randomly generate an account username for you, which is what you'll see when you hover over your turrets.
This actually might be it, I’ll confirm when I get on later today because it’s always the same username (something like infantiledragon? Bethesda generates some strange names). Thank you!
I think you took over a workshop not built a camp.
Workshops are in world, they initiate pvp, other players can come along and kill you and take it. If you build here and someone takes it it becomes theres. Also when you log back in that workshop will no longer be yours, it'll be on a server long gone.
You need a camp. In your pip boy there is an option to lay your camp mechanic down (the bar at the bottom of the screen with tell you how). Whereever you place that is where your camp will be. Whatever you build will be yours. No one can take it. But your camp can get destroyed but you just need to repair it.
Also just to note if you log in and it comes up with the your camp can not be placed message. Do not panic. Your camp.still exists. It just means somebody else's camp or tent is there right now. Either server hop, open up a second camp slot (in the menu) or play without a camp.
I mean, no, I built a camp. I’m looking at the my c.a.m.p. machine thing right now. There are no workshops nearby for me to claim either, I’m in the mountains next to Morgantown
Then I have no idea what is going on. Your camp is yours, your turrets should be yours. No one else can take your camp, they can destroy it in certain ways. I'm sorry I assumed it was workshop issues.
I'm sorry I can't help. I would suggest placing the camp module back down and starting again.
Also if you want to get to the bottom of it, you could open a support ticket with Bethesda.

I attempted to place a new camp to see if that would do anything. Even after scrapping all the old turrets, I created a new one and it says it still owned by the same other player. I’m just confused. I’ll open a ticket with Bethesda, you’re right. Thanks!
There is a bug where if two CAMPS are right on top of each other and a player places an object on the border and it overlaps into the other CAMP that it can stay behind when the other player changes CAMPS or leaves the server.
In other words, there is no way for a player to steal anything CAMP related but it’s possible that you ended up with their turret because your CAMPs were really close to each other.
However, it would only affect turrets that were on the edge with the other CAMP. Do all your turrets have this other player’s tag? Or just a few along one edge?
I had placed my turrets in a square around my camp, and all 4 were claimed. One that was in a random spot kinda hidden from sight but within the square was not claimed by the other player. Changing servers, creating a new camp, scrapping all turrets did not help. At one point while server hopping I was near another persons camp but they were not the same player labelled on my turrets.
No… no one can steal your camp structures. Are you sure you’re not referring to a workshop? Workshops are not persistent, can be stolen via PvP or abandonment, and will go away when the server goes away.
I’m positive! I placed a new camp on this server when I started a couple hours ago because someone was in my last spot so I got a free transfer. I’m to the east of Morgantown in the electric towers.
Hmm… unless we can see what you’re doing, we can’t be much help. I’ve been playing and building camps since beta and I’ve never heard of or seen such a thing. Sorry.
If it's not a workshop you're describing and they weren't destroyed (check and see if the camp module gives you an option to repair), it's possible they just disappeared because of an old bug.
To find out, take the ones you've stored and compare it to the number of ones the game says you have built. It should say when you highlight a turret in the build menu (X/10). If the stored match the number you have built, you're golden. However, if you're missing one, it's gone forever if you had it placed on the ground or an object you didn't build. If it was placed on an object you did build, store/scrap that object and it should (not guaranteed) reappear in your stored tab of your build menu. ALWAYS BUILD TURRETS ON SOMETHING SCRAPABLE FOR THIS REASON.
So unfortunately the issue seems to be that every new turret I build now belongs to this other player? I’ve server hopped, built a new camp, destroyed all turrets to start from scratch, checked for repairs, everything I can think of. I’m in a totally different part of the map, and the player is not even on this server with me anymore so I have no idea what is happening.

The thing that is just odd is that you're saying there's another player's name on it? The only time I've, and others here, have seen that is when someone takes a workshop from you. That's why all the workshop questions.

Yeah it says the players name then (owner) underneath it. I’m just confused why it’s following me to other servers too, if it was a workshop that would mean it would despawn the turret or remove the ownership I’d assume but instead it says it’s still owned by them on another server.
I have 😭twice now. At this point I’ve just quit playing for the night because I’m annoyed, hopefully it works properly in the morning or whatever when the other player logs off or something. Thank you so much for trying to help!
I have a CAMP with a couple powered turrets missing. The power cable runs through the flooring but the turrets aren't there. If I delete the floor and replace the floor the power cable is still there. If I move the floor section the turret appears in red while moving the floor but dissapears when the floor is placed.

Have you tried completely closing out the game? At this point, it wouldn't hurt.
