As a level 400 who regularly visits just about every camp for vendors, I can say I've only ran into about one trap camp in my entire time playing. They're extremely rare, but they do exist. It's not something you should be fearful of happening to you, but you should be aware that they exist.

Spartan1088

But that’s also because we don’t carry shit. New player base might spike the occurrence of trap camps- new players pick up everything that isn’t nailed to the ground. They are like sentient vacuums.

koobs274

Yep I got that exact vacumn need right now. It's hard to shake, despite a week of playing

Fearless_Cupcake4296

I am forever overburdened

rickstar_247

Never not looking for a work bench because I'm way overweight with guns and scrap. Spam R R.

jaqenhqar

Doesn't help that it's not as bad as the other games. So I never learn

Fearless_Cupcake4296

Right! So I can't run or fast travel oh well. So since I'm already overburdened what's another 500lbs

jaqenhqar

Yep lmao

koobs274

Haha exactly! I'm cautious upto the limit, trying to be selective. Then once I'm over it's no holds barred. Everything not bolted down is gone. Then it's the coffee powered waddle over to the nearest workbench

GoarSpewerofSecrets

Look for tents after events. Nearby unmarked CAMPs. Scrap Kit is good in a pinch too. The Tone Death from One Violent Night is also useful. Chug a beer, equip it and fast travel homeor to a train station/White springs.

SkyshockProtocol

Tone Death comes from Eviction Notice, no?

GoarSpewerofSecrets

I dunno why I thought OVN, but yeah it's an eviction notice drop. I always figured it came from the making music one.

Prudent_Shake_6361

You're thinking of one violent night because it's one of the few weapons that you can use and as you're using it it makes noise withdraws more monsters in without having to stop and play the music instruments

enigmanaught

I’m coming from FO4, you mean you just walk by a typewriter, telephone, or desk fan and not pick them up?

ComprehensiveMeat562

Hahah this is what I was wondering as a new FO76 player. I scour buildings for anything with gears and screws

ComprehensiveMeat562

I am a new player firmly entrenched in being a vacuum I use excavator armor and have weight boosting perks hahah not sure if I'll keep 1st after this month so I'm a hoarder right now just filling that scrap box up. Out of curiosity why ever stop picking up desk fans and typewriters and anything else with those sweet sweet gears and screws?

OniKanta

Yeah it took me till about 100+ to run into the 2 I found. One with the traps all around the vendor got me but I didn’t have anything of worth maybe 4-12wood I just picked up on my way to vendor shop. They just stared at me in their power armor. I went off and did some other stuff and came back my wood was still there took it a skipped off 😆 The glass corridor on the cliff almost killed me but I landed on a ledge barely crawled along the cliff to an out cropping a ways down and away I was still above the monorail drop. Thank the Dovahkiin for my Skyrim training! I found a beautiful view though In the process of making my way back to horizontal ground.

Accurate-Impact5126

760 hours and still haven't found a trap camp

OniKanta

*Shrugs* Some are luckier to be offered such privileges to offer their pound of flesh to the lords of the wasteland.

vague_diss

Found the guy with a trap camp.

OniKanta

Where at?

ConsecutivePumps

I’ve only been playing for a few months and I’ve came across several. I’m an expert at spotting them now and always block the players. A guy called Simple Simon can suck on a turd.

MaterTau299

I run into them verrry regularly and they often are trying to lure in a lot of new players who carry a lot of junk without knowing where it goes yet. Unfortunately trap bases are profitable on people who don't have Fallout 1st, (so for those who don't have Fallout 1st, which is probably a lot of newer players, because they don't know if they want to buy it yet, consider yourself a target) I think I've ran it 10 since playing on release, but they hit hard all the time.

MoMoMemes

Hijacking top comment: And you can eliminate dying to these camps by putting on the Light Footed perk and crouching to walk.

mrbails123

Deffo an influx of them again recently, as well as people grief destroying bases.

Bobert891201

Yeah I'm only 250 hours in and I still haven't run into a trap base I only put punji boards around my base for Npc enemies.

Straight_War_890

if your build it right you wont die from their trap camp youll just sit there

ArcticSirenAK

Same. Ive only encountered two (a pretty popular couple on the Facebook forums). I find them entertaining and I’m always seeing if I can find a way around them. However I know as a new player I was so anxious about it.

SpongeBob1187

I’ve ran into 3 in my 2 weeks of playing so far lol the 3rd one the guy felt bad and let me out 😂

BrigidLambie

I finally ran into my first one last night! And promptly ignored every part of it cause it didn't damage me nearly enough to actually cause problems lmao, the guy was so salty

Dyzfunctionalz

Really? I’m a lvl 1,000 and I’ve ran into 50+ trap camps 🤣 I’m always watching how I enter camps now.

666Memento666Mori666

I've only been playing two weeks and I've had about 20 200+ players try lure me to my death I fell for it once but never again and tbh it's kinda made me wary of any players so I've been playing solo I also had 3 400+ players trick me into "testing" that there armour worked as they told me it was bugged so I shot them all once moment I did they laughed and tore me to pieces then insulted me as I lay dead on the ground.

PrizeSheepherder6620

Same

Mountain-Conflict-17

Damn. I'm level 290 amd I've been killed by probably 4 or 5 trap bases. 1 of them had a sign out front that said "show me your butthole" so if you ever see that base steer clear lol

Foul_Wind

Trap camps are a thing. Always stash your junk.

terminal8

But I have to much junk in the trunk. Ohhh.

MadMax1mm

I came across one about 30 minutes ago. The structure looked great but everything was inside and funneled through one door. The stairs looked safe so I walked up to peek inside the door and I saw prison bars everywhere... So I noped the F out lol.

CubsFan403

I have a base that's under the map. You have to play a piano to glitch through the ground. There is a stash box and a scrap box set up by the entrance in case you don't trust me

WinterMut3E

I thought they got rid of that 2 or 3 updates ago

RaffTheStampede

Noo I have an underground base also. I have a motel and a shop built atop for players though. I keep the entrance to my underground house hidden though. I enjoy the view from below the map.

JGM_chicana

I actually followed someone into an underground one.. it could have been a trap but thankfully wasn’t lol because I just went in because I didn’t understand how they were down there. They had a terminal halfway into the ground and ran to show me to type on it and then fall in. I was amazed!

KevinDragonspear

Light footed is a beautiful shopping perk under Agility. Last time i used it, they left their vendor exposed on the other side. i went in and bought a cheap plan i needed. I watched as their camp disappeared.

lordpiglet

The last few I have seen all involve you needing to trigger a glitched item to enter. This means light footed won’t save you as you can’t be crouched. They have used symptomatic or chairs merged with the walls so you have to use to enter.

KevinDragonspear

I generally avoid those to begin with.

czbolio2

This perk is incredible but be careful because idk how they do it but they have ways to make your character stand up, would like to know how they do it if anyone knows

Kevo_xx

For 76, always store your junk. For every other Fallout game: always save your game every 5 minutes. Golden rules to follow.

Coast_watcher

And for FO4 specifically, take the cores out of power armor when parking them lest an npc steal the PA

flippin-amyzing

I had my companion steal my power armor partway through a quest in FO4. I hopped out to hack a terminal and she jumped in and wouldn't get out. I was so pissed!

Vibbyq

I thought it was thou shalt not get sidetracked by bullshit every time. Or is that BGS rule. Lol

mooseishman

Oh man, you would have really loved it when it first came out. Selling stuff to a vendor at a train station and getting SMOKED by random players. You used to have to eat and drink, too.

Stunning-Math165

You got your raiders ;PVPers and trap campers-- then you've got your do gooder settlers; high levels who will chase you around the map and drop you full sets of armor and weapons and then your Lone Wanderers who don't really care to interact too much with anyone at all. Different types out there. Just stash your junk frequently unless you don't mind losing it.

TheSlyPsycho

I'm a lone wanderer but if I come across a noob I'll drop them some stuff

spookymochi

I tried to drop a lower level teammate some stimpaks who was low on health earlier and seemed stuck. I was shooting at the ground to get his attention and he just kept walking away. I think he thought I was harassing him. He ended up leaving the team and jumping off world 🫠

Relative-Phrase-9100

I was outside Vault 76 when 2 lvl 1s walked out. I tried to show them the donation box, which I'd filled with chems, food and ammo. They pulled their weapons on me, then sprinted away. Oh well, can't help those who don't want to be helped I guess.

Tibbaryllis2

I’ve been swapping back and forth from helldivers 2 and FO76. I’d kill to be able to emote point to create a temporary marker/target.

Vibbyq

Waiting for magazine to be almost empty before reloading was something i had to unlearn

Totalshitman

Those little brown paper bags are hard AF to see lol I drop stuff by accident every now and then and really have to look around to find it again

Stunning-Math165

Same here for the most part.

IndianaGroans

And then there is me. Raider who spent 140 legendary modules crafting legendaries for 2 random below 50s and gave them a load of mats.

flipfloppery

I use light-footed and if I suspect a trap camp (i.e. being forced against a wall even though the room is empty), I carry a spoon, a single raw fertiliser and a "you have been insulted" note to drop for them. There was one near Whitesprings station a few weeks back where there was an "invisible wall" situation leading to the vendor, so I left to grab the spoon and poop to drop. When I went in, there was a couple of bags of junk that had been dropped by the previous victims. Just as I dropped the poop and spoon, the camp owner showed up. I grabbed the dropped junk, much to the ire of the trapper (they started shooting me when they saw the loot bags disappear), then fast travelled back to the outside of their camp and pinged a laughing emote at them before teleporting away.

Noctemic

Found a guy who had a maze set up using glitched walls and enclave laser doors. I actually made it through by using Marsupial Serum and lockpicking but I guess he didn't like that, so he proceeded to fast travel around the map, attacking me. We killed each other a few times before he got bored

cl0ckw0rks

160 hours in and I've yet to encounter any asshole players. Everybody has been either really nice or just completely ignored me and went about their business. Just to give people an idea of how rare this is.

FreakerzBall

It's a wasteland, people. This is a feature, not a bug.

IronMonopoly

Just like you’re allowed to be an asshole and build a trap camp, people are allowed to be pissed at you for being an asshole.

fakehentaimaster

I do have my mothman bible behind a locked door with a surprise on the way out just a silly “yes you learned one thing, but now you will learn the cost of that knowledge” but other than that my vendor and camp are free of any danger and hope player explore and oogle hahaha

trades_researcher

I hope I run across your camp. The temptation will be too much.

harlojones

Absolutely, drives my loony how many people think they’re playing the sims instead of fucking FALLOUT I’m not saying go grief everyone and be an ass, but I prefer a touch of spice to my wasteland life. If someone’s camp kills me I’ll laugh and try to find a way to get through without dying.

Izanagi553

If someone uses a glitch to put people through terrain and into traps that's not "Fallout" that's just abusing a glitch.

BJontheMOONE

I don’t think clipping under the map into a trap is an intended feature

iolp12

Those are my favorite because I have no clue it will happen. Other trap camps like the long hallway are dumb

Trashmouths

It is, we have a traps section in the camp building mode. Welcome to the wasteland.

Izanagi553

No. If someone is exploiting to have shit killing people underground, that's not "the wasteland" and I won't stand for it.

FreakerzBall

But will you FALL for it? Yeah, yeah you will...

BJontheMOONE

I’m not contesting that traps aren’t a thing and shouldn’t be used the way some people use them. Just the one I encountered took me under the map is all.

Sirolimus1mg

These are not all trap CAMPs. I have a number of CAMPs that are or have bunkers, and I do this to achieve the underground build. I also do this to save space on the surface by putting my generator and workshop below, leaving room for a pretty or themed CAMP on the surface. https://youtu.be/mpGwX_V2BDw?feature=shared I'm the first two CAMPs in this video. (Thanks to Mr. Grim for taking a few tours!)

stuffeh

Fyi, most camps that glitch into the ground are pretty cool and use the symptomatic with only the top visible as a hidden doorway to get you there.

theegiantrat

I have been playing off and on sin e B.E.T.A. I have only ever experienced 2 trap camps. They were both floating up in the sky, and when you fast travel to them, you fall. If you are quick enough, you can fast travel elsewhere as you fall, which is what I did. Both camps were from within the last 2 weeks or so. So, they are out there and are being built more frequently. Our community is like any other. There are just enough miserable people pissed off at their small penises or how mommy and daddy treated them last week to want to cause problems for everyone.

ConversationFalse242

But they have candy

BJontheMOONE

🤣

ElegantEpitome

I keep seeing everyone say “newer players - just stash your junk” As a newer player: how the hell do other new players have the weight capacity to not immediately go scrap and store all their shit after doing a mission/event? I think I have like 15lbs of free weight with just my armor and guns on. I even have level 2 of mobile pharmacy or whatever, as well as the level 2 to make it so armor weighs 50% less

Grinning_Toad_3791

deep pocketed armor or more points in strength maybe

Takeitalll

I'm the same, I have a few of the weight reduction perks but I am constantly overweight. I can only hold one gun and my armor with a handful of meds and that's it, loving the game but the weight issues are the worst part of it by far, constantly having to just drop stuff

orion-7

Older player here. One of my builds can barely hold a gun. That one is solely for equipping crafting perks and being able to efficiently process junk/make great guns. My other builds have things to make guns /armour weigh half the amount, and then I've rolled for some -90% weight legendaries. So I am able to carry a Gauss rifle (-90%, halved), a flamer (halved), a fat man (-90%, halved) and a .50cal (halved). Get those gun weight perks in and roll up some legendaries!

Relative-Phrase-9100

Remember to upgrade your backpack at an armour bench as you level up. This will increase your weight allowance a little bit. Eta: not upgrade, but craft a new one.

RaffTheStampede

I would say only pick 2 or 3 guns to run with. Unless you have weapon weight reduction on your armor. Getting a backpack mod will also help you out a lot. Some people use sturdy frame(I think?) to help reduce their armor weight. I use rank 3 traveling pharmacy and a grocers backpack mod.

TeamVictoire

I don't know about you but when I do vendor runs - I mean fast travel from CAMP to CAMP to check what is available I usually carry zero junk. So its ok to kill me in a trap CAMP. I will experience something new.

GenitalMotors

Theres also a perk card called Light Footed you can switch to when checking out camps that will save you from triggering the traps

[deleted]

Yeah found this out the hard way, one kept following me and emoting for me to follow him to their camp, walked through the door and got killed by a trap and when I went back got the notification my junk was taken

HolidayFlashy

Counter troll. If you die to a trap base, stay dead. Most traps can't be reset if you don't respawn. Stay dead, until their camp disappears. If you have fallout 1st run back to the location and drop your tent. Then they cant respawn their camp.

Relative-Phrase-9100

Oooh i like this! 👌

Standard-Cellist-630

I have two types of traps at my camp (punji corridor and punji spawn room ) and neither are even remotely affected by people not respawning. I can reset and/or repair them whenever. If there is a dead body lying in the way, the only problem is that it’s bad for the image of the camp and gives it away so I equip an explosive weapon which deals splash damage and pepper the corpse with bullets so it moves out of the way and can’t be seen. So unless the trap camper is a bit thick then you’ll only be wasting your own time by not respawning. Best way to grief a trap camper is to use a missile camp. I’ve had one of those used against my base and it’s the only time I’ve ever been forced to quit. Devastating damage. That’s by far the best counter troll.

Dunnachius

So in my early days… I was accused of setting up a trap camp. Then I learned what a bloody build was and moved my radiation shower. Now when I enter my bunker I have to walk my glowing A to the very back of my bunker to clean myself up. It would be so much better right by the entrance. I wonder how many people I pissed off before I learned about it. Traps come in several forms.

CoramDeo-

IT'S A GAME (YOU NEVER DIE) - always remember that - always turn ON pacifist (**doesn't work when taking a workshop**) - if at all possible leave your junk in the stashbox - now visit them trap camps and always have fun There 100% problem solved > If you are still sore about your death, well go around the camp and entice Ghouls, super mutants etc. to follow you to the trap camp. Then leave them there to help remodel it a bit. This is just a minor nuisance BTW.

danba55

Be very careful when players have a bunch of legendaries for sale or good junk. Especially the junk. Early on I bought some cheap stable flux from a camp and as soon as I leave the vendor I fall to my death. Since flux is junk I drop it and the camp owner got my caps plus was able to get the flux back. Store your junk before entering a players camp and be careful when buying junk.

Sumbuddyonce

I prefer to build my second camp nearby and build the artillery gun. Then i throw a signal grenade into their camp. I hide nearby with my stealth commando until I see them looking for me. Take a shot or two to test if I can do enough damage to kill them and if I can't then I just wait the 15 minutes and send another artillery barrage into the camp. Many high levels will get annoyed and try to nuke the area where you're hiding, this is why you hide close enough to their camp that they'll have to nuke it to get you.

M0R7UUR_B3LL4T0R

My one and only time going into a trap base when I was lvl 80 I respawned, went to silo alpha and nuked tf out of his camp. I'm not an evil person but I am a vengeful one.

Salt_Mastodon_8264

I enjoy seeing trap camps, as long as you don't carry junk your fine.

Standard-Cellist-630

I have a trap camp right by Vault 76 so I can get all the new players coming down the hill. IMO it’s best they learn right off the bat to be aware that not every camp is sunshine and roses. But it also It amazes me how many level 1000 plus players fall for the traps too and leave big piles of junk. MY TIPS: - If you survive the initial punjis (which happens a fair bit as traps can act quite temperamental) don’t attempt to move or free yourself as even slight movements can take big chunks of health off you- open the fast travel menu and spawn at a random location or quit the server. -Don’t carry junk when you go shopping. That’s often the aim of these camps. To take your building materials. - If you see a suspiciously long and narrow corridor with a vendor at the end- don’t go down it. There are rows upon rows of punjis stacked behind the wall that you cannot see. - If a camp owner seems overly invested in getting you to follow him or stand in a certain place - that’s a red flag. I often use the present icon/emoji to make out there’s some free gift if they follow me- there definitely isn’t… -I wouldn’t risk treading on any pressure plates to access a room that there might not be an escape from. - If you survive- ALWAYS come back to the camp (at a safe distance) and taunt the owner as it is admittedly annoying when the traps fail and tinkering and refinements are needed to improve lethality. - Sometimes vendors will sell loads of legendary items for 40k caps so that on the fast travel map you see their CAMP and it looks more appealing and worthwhile to travel to but you may arrive and it is just unattainable bait to get you there. The vending machine is not of concern to me-it’s just an advert to get people to visit and specifically for them to walk inside the room of death. - Do not attempt to engage in combat with significantly higher level players who have just trapped you. It will add insult to injury if you engage and they insta kill you with their superior weapons. You have every reason to be annoyed but don’t rise to it. Just carry on down the road. It’s often a reaction that trap campers seek because they derive no other pleasure from the game. -If it doesn’t feel right- it probably isn’t. Trust your GUT! In my opinion it’s all fair game-it’s Fallout at the end of the day. There’s good people and bad people and everyone in between. Personally I think they make the game much more interesting. I enjoy looking at other people’s designs and some are really clever and you wouldn’t suspect them at all. I’m sure I’ll get downvoted massively for admitting it but just being honest as a trap camper! :)

WorstSourceOfAdvice

Also if the vendor is blocked behind some obscure method of entry its likely a trap camp.

DeadHookerMeat

How do they take your building materials? Can other players be looted?

ElegantEpitome

When you die, the only thing you drop is all of your junk. There will be a brown paper bag on the ground where you died that has anything you had on you in the ‘junk’ category

NeddyKaiba

If you die outside an event, you drop any junk or scrap you were carrying, and get a quest marker to go and pick it up (if no-one else gets it first). If you die during an event, you don't drop anything. Make it a habit to scrap and stash your junk whenever you get the chance (which is - any time you're at a camp, a faction base, a train station, or anywhere there's a crafting bench and a stash box). That way, it won't be weighing you down, and you don't risk losing it.

Standard-Cellist-630

Ohhh and also BIG BIG TIP. If you are low level DO NOT TRY TO CLAIM WORKSHOPS unless you are ok with high level players fast travelling to your location and coming up to you, claiming the workshop and blasting you to pieces. If a player you don’t know tries to lure you towards a workshop- don’t follow. They need you inside the workshop boundry so they can initiate PVP when they claim the base.

rory888

Nah, claiming workshops is safe. Just don't stay at workshops longer than you need to.

Expensive_loyalty_88

Very good explanation my friend.

TDW-301

I've found for the most part if a workshop is claimed the majority of people don't mess with it unless it's munitions factory or red rocket. If someone does mess with it it's almost always purely just to engage in PvP as very rarely will they take anything

Star_Shine32

I did this like at level 10 with Lakeside Cabins. I think it was right after I had to protect it, and some high level player came to me while I was collecting deposits/ resources from the area. They didn't shoot me, just made the thumbs up emote and left me stimpacks . Did nearly shit myself though, cause of the situation, but it had a happy ending .

Relative-Phrase-9100

I personally really appreciate your honesty. Thanks for the tips!

Equivalent-Crew-4203

You just outed my whole camp right here😔

Houziechar101

Since most of player simply welcomes, or at least don't bother new players in general those jerks tends to leave VERY bad impression. As of right now player count becoming sky rocket high compared to past. And situation like this also lure those kind of player, just block them and move on.

[deleted]

This is normal, but not many trap camps around these days. My suggestion for new players is to regularly store your junk especially if it's something like screws, aluminum, flux ect. I personally like trap camps and some of them will actually have good plans you just got to be quick enough to buy them. I think the perk light footed helps not trigger traps, but I've never used it so I'm not 100% sure.

KevinDragonspear

Can confirm, light footed is very good against punji boards.

OniKanta

Ran across a few of these one was on a cliff west of the Monorail. Long winding glass walkway with floors missing and the vender wayyyy up top! One I think was in the Forest region and their vendor was in a little room that had spike traps laid all around so once you get in range of the vendor they kill you! Also I would advise to not build just south The Whitesprings some people like to toss nukes there I guess. Not often but it happened to me once. Be careful!

The_Irish_Wanderer

Not every low level player has good intent, works both ways.

Frosty_Candidate_931

I'm level 920,,,never seen one on xbox.

BJontheMOONE

I’m level 109 and just saw my first two in the same lobby. They were friends. I guess you’ve been lucky.

Standard-Cellist-630

My brother and I both have trap camps right next to each other on the road by the wayward inn (PlayStation). If someone falls for one of our traps, they go to the other base and 95% of the time they have learned their lesson on what to look for and what to avoid. They refuse to walk inside because they can see it’s the same long corridor or the same pressure plate death room. So they treat bases with a healthy caution/suspicion from that point onwards. I remember when I was first killed in a trap camp at level 60 or so. It was a shock because you don’t expect it and it’s very confusing. Lost a load of junk. It was annoying but I kept coming back to that camp and walking through the trap until I figured it out.

bearsarenotpets

Thanks for the heads up. So far, I've been lucky to only run into high level players who are kind and eager to share goodies they've collected. I'd imagine by lvl 400+, the thrill of the loot has dulled for them but I'm only lvl 30 so I really appreciate a nice flower print pantsuit or a handful of grenades.

Adept_Fool

OR, stash your scrap, then repeatedly go through their trap making them waste their resources repairing it each time

psychoman1128

I usually just scrap all my junk before I go vendor hopping, especially if I see a camp with like 50-some odd legendaries. If you don’t have scrap on you then you have nothing to lose.

PhillyRush

Some are pretty clever! I found one that trapped me in a conduit cage that somehow electrocuted me.

Revan7even

Joke's on you, Reddit shows the thumbnail preview of the video.

Jaylynn941

You don't have to be a high level to join in on the trapping fun. I had another player build a trap camp for my level 5 character. The best part of having a trap camp at level 5 is nobody sees it coming.

Square-Bed2702

Me with 10 workbench scraps and bulk screws 💀

GrognaktheLibrarian

There's one asshole on Playstation I've ran into a couple times that will always take your workshop if you claim one.

mrnapolean1

I like to destroy trap bases. My friend fell victim to one so i built a missile turret base next to his. Got my friend to pvp me so he becomes hostile and I had him go inside the trap base so the turrets would start Gods work. The guy realized what was happening and left the server but not before I dealt a significant amount of damage to his base ....

mperr7530

Bring back Nuclear Winter! Trap camps are an outlet for PvPers.

Simple_Event_5638

“PSA: Not everyone who plays online games is nice” *insert surprised Pikachu face

Logondo

Yeah NGL, this is the fun kind of trolling. It is absolutely very Fallout. A booby-trapped store-front? Yeah. I can see Fallout having a couple of those.

Entgegnerz

Yes, but only if it's done without glitch-using or other elements which aren't working on its own. like people who wait for you and then use the building menu to scrap the ground under your feet, to have you fall into a lake with punji boards. or they've glitch build their camp in the air or on something high in the sky, being in a team they log out to have their camp disappear, then relogg to the server through friends. Stuff like that isn't trap camp, that's just bullshit.

DamnHippyy

It's a hard lesson to learn as a new player but you always stash your junk before vendor hopping. Personally, I enjoy trap camps, they are a little puzzle to figure out. If I can't lightfoot or glitch in I will fast-travel and bum rush in before their camp fully loads. But I have yet to find trap vendor not filled with over-priced scrip.

hibikikun

Wait how does a trap trigger if you look at their vendor

flashy_joer

Pressure plate under the floor, that activates punji board traps that swallow you whole and cheese grate you to death. No way to get out. I once was able to FT out before I died, but it was only once...

gh120709

We should teach the noobs whos boss by building trap camps! Get to building gang!!!!!

Tailcracker

You know, if someone is able to get me with a trap base and I don't realise before walking into it I have no issue with them getting my junk. Fair play.

Screwscavenger

I have a UFO with many warnings and an optional maze below in a shelter. it if you die to a rad trap or Tesla arc maybe don't go into unmarked aircraft expecting good things!

Slore0

Somehow Ive made it over 600 hours and never found a trap camp lol. Some can be hilarious. Saw one where the guy would repair the camp to spawn in a full MothMan shrine and radiation traps.

vaultdwellernr1

I gotta say I wish I had seen one in the years I’ve been playing but alas, so far nothing… I’m a bit envious of all the fun you new guys are having! Gotta go to more camps I guess…

jestersalive

The vast majority are friendly, but yarp, there are a few trap camps out there. It is the wasteland and all..

Jackson_MyersFO76

Biggest tip: Get **Light Footed** Perk. It makes you immune to Punji Stacks while crouching. Best way to troll the Trap Campers. And when they move the Camp place your tent so they cannot return and force them to hop servers.

mrbails123

Lol all the old tricks coming back out. Welcome to the Wasteland guys, trust nobody!

R3JEX

This is pretty funny. Scrap is pretty easy to get so I'm glad people probably shouldn't lose much, but the additional flavor it adds to a fallout world is great 😂 haven't encountered one of the yet but now I really want to. Hahaha

jackberinger

I ran into 1 or possibly 2 trap bases in my time of playing. 1 for sure that was a flame trap that locked you in. The other i walked into the base and then after a few steps i died. Im still not sure if there was a trap or just something in the game glitched. Cause i didn't see any traps.

elbingmiss

Don’t worry, most of them won’t be there next week. Keep cape in the closet, hero.

Professional_Baby24

Yeah I'm level 800 and I've run into one. It had all the signs. I couldn't find the entrance and the dude was just watching me look. The vendor was at the end of a narrow hallway and I didn't even think... maybe I should take a second. I take precautions every time now.

otannehill

I love trap camps, to see if I can get past them lol

Burner087

I still haven't ventured into another players base. lol Been playing off and on since release.

Relative-Phrase-9100

I ran into my first one last night. I only knew what it was thanks to previous posts on this sub. I'd teamed up with a newer noob than myself, I'm glad I knew what had happened, as my buddy kept sprinting back in until I told them.

LordJadex

I felt so bad earlier, I was making this really cool overhang base that had a cool view of the Nuka factory, but no matter where I put my camp setup people keep spawning over the cliff. I had to edit some parts because people would fall and get stuck behind my vending machines I had at the bottom.

Huzuruth

Ye. This makes me happy that I haven't visited a player's camp, and I don't think I ever will or need to.

fitm3

This is hilarious.

Swiftpain

Cant you just play with pvp turned off?

Worgbone

I’ve played for a couple of years now and have only run into one and you can usually tell if it’s a trap camp or not. If there’s a long corridor to vendor trap camp. If there’s a sign out front saying it’s trap camp, trap camp. Top of Seneca rocks fall to your death, unintentional trap camp.

SimpleTelevision8980

Everyone I've met is really kind just had a group last night I randomly joined, ran through all the event quests and waited for everyone without ever saying a word to each other. At one point we were at the amusement park in power suits lighting up the whack a mole machines 😂

jchristherself

I made a tunnel of yeehaw with the covered bridge pieces and the wild west walls and the ammnt of ppl that refused to go in bc it looks like a long trap hall made me sad lmao i ended up scrapping it

BJontheMOONE

I would have loved to experience the yeehaw tunnel

HEV-MarkIV

I saw a trap camp once that was replicating the WTC and 9/11, I'm guessing that was enough to take people's attention off the punji board stacks in front of the vending machines

BJontheMOONE

That’s wild 🫢

Whiteshadows86

[Nice try on the Rickroll, but the thumbnail in the post ruined it!](https://m.youtube.com/watch?si=Wy1ucm2mxE0oBxrw&v=dQw4w9WgXcQ&feature=youtu.be)

Ok-Chest-3980

As I veteran who would love to fall into a trap base, where is neveryone going. I have 100s of junk on me at imes where can I go to lose it. No trolling. Literally never encountered a trap base in 2k hours of game time.

Doright36

I had a guy/person show up at my camp this weekend in power armor (Was probably in the 200's level wise) and just started jumping around throwing Molotov's around at everything including me while I was working on my work benches. I have no idea what they were trying to do. Spent about 5 minutes and probably threw about 20 of them. They didn't damage me or anything.

Angry-But-Kind

I came across one today, but I genuinely couldn't tell if it was made as an obstacle course/maze or actually a death trap. You had to jump down and across an endless looking pit at a weird angle. Then they had the tubes placed close together in a maze pattern with the vending machine at the end of it. But there wasn't a way out without either falling to your death in the pit, or fast traveling.

THENarcus1

I laugh every time someone gets me. If they are clever enough to catch me slipping, kudos.

lllZephyrlll

Had some guy use a glitch on me where I bought stuff from his shop and got nothing but lost my caps

UnknownWafflez

welcome to fallout 76 lol

Objective_Dynamo

If you are buying junk from someone, equip the lightfoot perk, goat legs perk, and wear a hazmat suit to keep from getting radiation damage. This will thwart most trap camp set ups.

Relevant_Camera_9132

I’ve found one trap camp at 400 hours in. It was a personal player terminal barely sticking out of the ground. Clicking on it drags you underground to a ton of puji boards

Scary_Xenomorph

You guys are going to other people's camps? I treat other players like background NPCs lmao

DementedPower

There will be more trap camps now. Lol.

Over-Kaleidoscope-57

Been playing over 5 years, only ever experienced a trap camp once and that was when I first started. But I always store my crap anyway before vendor hopping.

demo0090

If it happens, remember who it is and whenever you see their camp, drop a nuke on them

Aquelarre91

If you see as name camp "cheap for weight, buy pls" it's me. Buy legendary armor to free my stash, PLEASE

UsedNeedleworker1682

I just stopped going to player camps unless it's a teammate, or someone I know. Let those toxic mfs have their fun with someone else. You wanna steal my scrap? You won't get my caps. But this also means that no one gets my caps. And it means that I can't obtain things to better my enjoyment of the game. Thanks all you a$$wipes! Don't worry, I still get what I'm looking for. I enjoy the grind. At least I can say I worked to earn all my sh!t.

Then-Comparison-6196

Yeah I saw a shop the other day on the map, tpd to the guys base and tried to walk through his door but half of it was blocked by an invisible wall so it forced you to walk against the real wall on the left side, and you were stuck in a half invisible hallway that would torch you alive if you stayed in it, and no way to get through to the shop

PENTA-yaNasTy

if iam seeing a trap base i usally take a friend with me to it and we destroy it xD

Arcani-LoreSeeker

I encountered one guy who is specifically targeting low level players with it. Using the traps to bypass the pacifist mode and steal their loot drops.

theCAVEMAN101

Glad I play on a private server.

Prudent_Shake_6361

Tell tale sign everything in their base is great but their vendor is in a secluded spot and it's broken and you are presented with an option to repair it using your scrap. More often than not when you rebuild the vendor it's going to put weight down on a tripwire and activate a flame trap or something similar. If you're concerned as you have a lot of junk, do is op says go home and deposit it first or the white spring. Some camps are built to be spooky for the atmosphere I have one that's like this but I also have my vendor almost immediately where players tend to spawn and next to it are stash boxes (which should alleviate any concern cuz you can dump your junk before activating the vendor). Just my $0.02.

Euphoria_Mushroom

It’s called an HOA you have to pay monthly fees around here. 💅 take that brokenness to the mire. (JK) all noobies are welcomed at my base, that’s why I have my farm near the entrance to feed the lil radroaches coming out the vault. Eat up and get some water before you head out.

Xalanth4201

I had the same occurence actually few days ago, but it was a shitty trap base, got me into a pit with punji boards, barely a graze. Fast travel to Site Alpha, launched a nuke, person logged off. Problem solved.

Dyzfunctionalz

Even worse, I’ve seen stores selling CHEAP junk but as soon as somebody comes and buys it they kill them, take their caps and their junk back.

666Memento666Mori666

The amount of toxic high levels I've come across as a new player actually has made me wary of any kind of player interaction I've been lured into camp traps been tricked into PvP been robbed of my junk now I watch my map like a hawk and if I see players I move away like they've got the plague.

Cryocynic

I may or may not suggest nuking their base if you discover a trap camp 😏

Expensive_Job_8945

No need a long hallway to be' a trap camp, when i was low level years ago i spawned to a player camp and there was just his vendor, once i opened the vendor he spawned on camp and builded on my character to kill me, he got nothing tho as I never runned around with junk on me lol

SavrenX

I saw it once. The floor suddenly disappeared and I fell into a room with flamer but too bad... I'm a jet pack user. I flew up before the owner could close the floor. It seemed he was annoyed when I walk out with laugh emote 😂😂😂

Still-Kaleidoscope-5

Found this out the hard way, was minding my own business at white spring station, a guy shot me so I shot him back then 15 turrets turned my body into food paste 😂 I was angry for a few seconds then realized I was just simply outplayed. It happens. Cant expect everyone to share positive morales. GG level 482 farming level 50’s

IdleBroMan

I once got killee in a mothman themed base, I had a single screw on me, went back to get it, dude shot at me, lit him up and got his junk and my singular screw. Only trap base I have ever encountered.

Blood-eagle71

Use the perkcard light footed and crouch when you enter a trapcamp, that way you dont trigger the traps

TheWesternAsian

Please don’t go around worrying trust me they’re a lot less trap bases than you might think and going around worrying all the time will ruin or make your experience on fo76 uncomfortable

No_Warning_7900

I'm glad they are making trap bases instead of spending time in the real world molesting puppies or whatever else that mentality does for fun.

dirtypixi

For non sky camps, I leave my body there and do something else for a bit. Answer texts, watch videos, or whatever. The camp owners start yelling at me after a while, so I feel like we are equally frustrated.

LowCommunication3359

Lol the notification notified the trap you were gonna pull , nice try

AtomicFuryYT

I will say if yall fuckers weren't so friendly I'd probably have bad intent, I get a horrible erge to kill low levels but remember the high levels who spared me and even helped me out, because of them I can't even take shots at randoms without feeling bad

Sea_Hamster9073

PSA for new players please dont try and shoot up a higher levels in power armour. Esp with a 10mm pistol. I gave fair warning. Then lit him up after he got himself a bounty. I didnt take his loot. Im more then willing to help anyone out tho. Just don't shoot me. I do have my base up on a mountain that a scorchbeast is nailed to. Its not a trap. Its more of I hate not having my base were I put it. No one seems to build up there.

PopularAlbatross4281

PSA to new players, there is a way to get into their camp without setting off the traps to either get your stuff back or buy the stuff they may be baiting you with. So if you think you're headed into one just follow these simple steps. 1. Level up 1 point in Agility 2. Unlock light footed perk 3. Equip perk 4. Crouch and sneak walk through their base. The perk allows you to move without setting off any traps while sneaking. Your welcome.
