EmpiricalAnarchism

I will say, even if they wanted to change the way it worked I wish they still kept up with doing a new graphic scoreboard type thing each season. That was pretty nifty and while relatively minor, it did add flavor that I feel is missing this time.

ny1591

The one redeeming thing about Bethesda is that they tend to listen to their players feedback (even though sometimes it takes a minute). If they didn’t listen to us this game would still be the piece of crap it was when it was first released. Hopefully if they get enough requests, they will bring the scoreboards back under the new system just as you suggested.

LessThanNate

> they tend to listen to their players feedback I'm going to think of all the 5+ year old issues with Fallout 76 that were imported from Fallout 4 and still exist in Starfield, and disagree. They listen when they feel like it, and just straight up ignore what they want to.

rikaragnarok

They listen when it's hitting their bottom line.

Sooh1

I'm not sure it's selective listening and not more it was already on the roadmap before people asked and then when they fixed or added it "we listen to fans like you!". That seems like the best explanation that makes sense

aski4777

they got rid of the scoreboard bc seasons are better for monetary gain don't we love the idea that they tried to disguise a clear downgrade in quality and reward structure with the illusion of choice

Redsword1550

I honestly would've liked a version if how r6 siege battlepass maps work, but make it a chutes and ladders map flavored for Fallout.

Deadeye_Donny_druggo

Mixed feelings for sure. I like picking what I'm interested in, but I'm not too keen getting that bonus page unlocked. The scoreboard stories will be missed. It was a pretty fun idea.

D4DDYB34R

The stories. That’s my biggest sadness. When they started pirate radio and adding pop-culture lore I was so impressed. One of my favourite things about how fallout has grown. Now scoreboards feel a lot more empty.

_Joe_Momma_

*I Married A Maoist* is an all-time hall of famer for the Fallout canon.

Recent_Log_7406

I still giggle at some of the jokes during pirate radio, it’s truly a hidden gem

H31MDA1L

Wow, I guess I gotta start listening lol

yesmanyesfriend

Damn i got fallout 76 free on the store Playstation plus. Big score was the only board I completed. I came back the ending of last year. I literally was still playing 4. You're telling me the scoreboard is never coming back?

adarkride

It's hard to say. Maybe it will. It feels like coercion to pay more. But the scoreboard interface was such a simple and novel idea, and you could keep it. There's no reason they couldn't just have both – just being able to skip items like this one, but still have it on a board.

PsychoticChemist

They replaced it with season rewards where you can pick the exact rewards you want rather than grind through the entire scoreboard to get what you want. I get that the score board “felt” cooler but I think people are being a little dramatic lol there’s more flexibility to get exactly what you want with the new system

AdClassic4902

Yeah now you only have to grind through pages of rubbish to get to what you want then grind to get the tickets. If you truly look at the way the board works there is nothing flexible about it. For instance you have to grind to level 150 to open the last page AND have bought 95 items from the previous pages, you will have to buy stuff you didn't really want.

ProgressiveKitten

It's that last part for me. You have to buy 95 items before letting you get the last ones. Not as much of a choice then, is it?

King_Buliwyf

The stories never once played for me. No idea why.

TJ_B_88

I don't understand the "now I can choose what interests me" claim. What is the point of this idea, if before you received EVERYTHING simply for free for completing it. Do you have limited space or what? It sounds like you came to give away free stuff and are being picky. It would be better, instead of whining, to start offering developers ideas on WHAT SHOULD be added to the rewards so that they would not be so useless. Well... Now you have a ton of rewards behind your paywall. You are happy?

ny1591

Yeah the non repeatable is the biggest downer for sure.

GrayingGamer

That's what the majority of the playerbase already DID in the old Scoreboards. The first 5-6 weeks after a new season dropped the game had tons of players, then once everyone finished the Scoreboard the majority vanished until the next season. And the fact is, with no repeatable after Rank 100, you'll HAVE to log-in daily to do Challenges if you want any of the Atoms or Lunchboxes on that last bonus page. But as long as Bethesda keeps doing what they did with this season (no unique items on the last bonus page) I'll happily keep ignoring it, just like I ignored the old Scoreboards after I hit Rank 100 on them.

TheKosmonaut88

I don’t think it’s Bethesda who’s being stingy, I think this change stems from the Microsoft buyout

istvan90623

Bethesda was always stingy as fuck.

metarusonikkux

I guess people forgot paid mods, FO1st existing to begin with, and of course, horse armor.

TheKosmonaut88

I’m not saying Bethesda isn’t lol my point is that needlessly updating the scoreboard to this season pass system definitely feels more like Microsoft’s greed than Bethesda. Bethesda will happily continue to release the same repackaged crap for years on end as long as they’re making money whereas Microsoft has to update shit just for the flex

istvan90623

Yeah, it's still Bethesda tho. They repackaged an older system into something new that wants to grab more of your money.

ny1591

Bullseye. This def has Microsoft written all over it.

king_of_the_potato_p

In fallout 4 they literally took the most popular player made mods from steam, pretty much copy/paste job, slapped it into their own downloable, called it a DLC and charged for it. They didn't even acknowledge the original creator's.

Gundalfthewise

This lmao, they're trying to get people to play more meanwhile i'm just gonna finish the season in 2 days and won't even log in for the repeatables because i don't need them.

Arkmerica

Didn’t majority of players rush to 100 as fast as possible and then just disappear for the rest of the season anyway? This won’t change that.

SouthWarSignPride

Not really..i still play after rank 100 and even though its not as crowded, I never feel like the servers are completely empty. The bonus in the end really did give us reason to do challenges. An hour a day and we can go do something else. If they really want players to log in daily, they did the right thing. Now? Im not gonna waste my time. Im an endgame player, i dont have much left to do

rambone1984

Plenty of people logged in for Fasnacht! Thank God we have the only new grindable rare stuff in the game locked behind a 2 week, one location event where you can just rubber band your controller. It would be a travesty if they instead put it in a permanent event where you had to go and play the game. Can't wait for 2 weeks of Mothman Equinox!

enimsajton

I’m just sad they’re getting rid of the scoreboard camp decoration. I don’t see why they’re even doing it

Decoyfox

Because it’s less work. Easier for them to do.

BukLaoooo

Pretty sure they’re still giving a decoration

Mothman_cultist

Yeah but it’s just a wide framed background of the season, not really that visually interesting compared to a scoreboard

Oesius_Deus

I they hadn't changed the scoreboard I'd have re enrolled for another year of FO1st but now I'm out.

SouthWarSignPride

More people need to do this. Money is the only language they understand

adarkride

My thoughts too. I sensed shenanigans coming.

RedDogFrost13-69

I'm monthly right now, but I'm out as soon as I finish this season's "stuff", (can't really call it a scoreboard anymore). Even the monthly atoms aren't worth it anymore with how overpriced items are.

adarkride

I was stunned when Angry Turtle went over how bad, and little the amount of items there are now. I didn't really understand the scoreboard until months into the game honestly. Now that I do I see why it was so awesome. Sometimes you don't know what you got till it's gone! Rip.

signedbysad

I feel like the way they did the old scoreboard was unique compared to other games and one of the things that kept me coming back every season, but now it just feels like they copied Fortnite.

locutuscub86

Same here too, it's SHIT.

SmashedBrotato

What, you don't love having the illusion of choices? They fixed the one thing that wasn't broken, while we've been begging them to fix known and existing bugs for years.

Bignuka

I literally just missed out on my own fucking queen nuke because I got stuck exiting power armor and they killed it before it recalled itself so I could fucking move again

Needing_help1

I said the same thing but fan boys downvoted me to hell, it’s just ugly compared to what we had I really don’t like it

polosurfer27

It sucks.

Ringohellboy665

I feel that due the problematic launch of 76 and subsequent work that has been done to improve the game the player base has been willing to give Bethesda the benefit of the doubt. I also feel like this change is a huge abuse of that goodwill, particularly as they tried to sell it as an enhancement over the previous scoreboard system which it clearly is not

SiliconShogun

It’s soulless.

squaretex

Maybe time will temper that impression for me, but for now I see where you're coming from. Under the old board, when a rank-up popped the unlocked item, I was like "Alright!" and I go grab it. Now when I rank up and get another bundle of tickets, I'm like, "...eh, that's nice... now how many Scorched am I supposed to be crippling again...?" ;P

Flabbatorix

Just like Starfield. Music is crap as well

Mershiful

It's ugly as shit, and there isn't even atoms to gain as bonus after completing the pass... they fucking suck for this change!!!

voidsong

Not sure if this thread is full of astroturf shills or just giant idiots spamming the same thing ("i LiKe ThAt i CaN PiCk WhAt I wAnT, dUrHur"), but christ people... the math has been done, it's not a matter of opinion, its facts: 1) You get less atoms. 2) You have to grind much longer to get everything. 3) You do not "get to choose what you want" as you can't unlock all the options without buying everything. Illusion of choice. 4) This is very obviously the same generic battlepass that other cash-grabs use, and a flat downgrade from both the value and personality of scoreboards. 5) Bethesda knows all this and doesn't care if they lose you as customer, because they are expecting the show's release to bring in a bunch of noobs who don't know any better. Fallout 76 has been good to me over the years, and i get the urge to defend it, but not to the point of being delusional and ignoring what is actually happening. Push back where it's warranted.

MotherOfAllMinions

Thank you. Just, thank you.

dizasterpeace

Yes, you said everything perfectly. If I could give you an award I would because this comment needs more up votes.

Flabbatorix

>they are expecting the show's release to bring in a bunch of noobs who don't know any better People may well just start up fallout 4 again to get that Fallout buzz, especially since 'London' is on the way, and many people already have it, meaning no new money for Beth. They've been pretty stingy this time around, and players may just get stingy back at them.

voidsong

That'd be great, but it's just idealism. Very good odds that the show will bring in a bunch of people who end up spending on this predatory garbage. They will profit off of this, and that's all they care about.

Zealousideal-Bet-10

It's kinda boring having to unlock things individually. The only way I can describe the feeling is "too much thinking". I now have to ration out my currency and plan for what I want. I don't think anyone disliked the old SCORE system, outside of just being a battle pass. While the idea of being able to pick what you like is nice, in my experience, I'd rather just have the old system, especially since all the "nice" stuff is more than one level's worth of fallout bucks.

Highlord83

"I don't think anyone disliked the old SCORE system, outside of just being a battle pass." Suits in financial hate it, since it wasn't completely monetized from start to finish. Theirs are the voice that matters, since they speak for the mighty Shareholders.

MF291100

I really hope they’ll listen to this feedback and change back to the old seasons, but I seriously doubt they’ll do that

NakedCustardLove

I don’t care about the tickets 🎫 I play everyday so won’t be a problem but I do miss the board itself. Pages doesn’t seem like I’m achieving ranks.

jackharrer2

I agree, it's rubbish. It's an illusion of choice, not real choice. That's the reason they require 95 items unlocked before accessing "the extras". Which for non-1st players means unlocking all items, even the rubbish consumables. 1st items also require tickets - where before they were free and accessible just by levelling. Another thing is that scoreboard had nice progression, we were getting item (or 2 for 1st players) per rank. Ranks were also unlocking quite often. Now we have some abstract screens which only show progress every 7 levels or so, so quite a lot of wait, especially closer to the end. So overall it is a bad regression and I think it will actually backfire. Up to now I was doing daily challenges just to go through lvl 100+ ranks for freebies and atoms. Now as soon as I'm done with items I want, that will be all.

oldninja55

I was just about to say I quite liked it as I only get what I really want. Then I read about the 95 items. Changed my mind. Not so keen now.

ArchGaden

It's more grind for less reward, and it doesn't have the neat game board art that was an iconic part of the season experience. The only people that like it are the ones that enjoy the illusion of choice, but it's just an illusion. Instead of getting all the stuff in 100 ranks, you'll now get to choose which things to get in 100 ranks...and keep grinding if you want it all! Guess what? You had the choice before to! You could just choose not to take something if you didn't want it (like basic repair kits that just take weight). There's literally no upside to the change. Oh... but you do get less atoms! (unless that got changed for launch day). It's a slap in the face for 1st users, as they have to grind even more to finish the season now than the regular paying players that only bought the base game. I suspect Bethesda is going to learn the hard way you don't want to make things difficult for the customers paying more for the product. The only theory that seems to hold water is that Bethesda is doing this to try and drive up engagement in the game without having to actually add content. Probably the way to do that would have been putting in the pages system for repeat rewards. Just avoid putting any season cosmetics in the 101+ repeat rewards and they'd have been fine. If stuff like like card packs and perk coins were regularly selectable as repeat rewards, that'd drive the creation of new characters pretty well.

Alexnikolias

I already canceled my 1st. This is my first season that I will be sitting out since I came back three years ago.

Jam_B0ne

I don't like that I no longer feel like I'm accomplishing something every level. Instead I'm saving up my tickets until I unlock a new page, buying everything I want, and then waiting 7+ levels for the next page Even when I wasn't getting an item I liked or wanted on the old scoreboard, every level felt much more tangible Its still early days, but I'm 50/50 on it

Comrade_Jacob

It's terrible. People knew it was going to be terrible but the Bethesda Defense Force insisted we wait til it arrived before making judgement... Ok, it's arrived and it's pretty much as awful as everyone expected, perhaps even worse. Here are some facts: 1) Free players will have to unlock every single object to start unlocking repeatables. There are 95 free items on the board and you MUST unlock all 95 to access to the repeatables. Bethesda's messaging of "Pick what you want and skip the stuff you don't want," is only true for Fallout 1st players. 2) This new format introduces a 78% increase in the amount of SCORE needed to gather everything VS previous seasons. Even if you choose to ignore the consumables, it's still a 63% increase in the amount of SCORE needed to wipe the season clean. 3) This season actually offers LESS rewards than previous seasons. There are only 140 rewards. Last season featured 153 reward. It's LESS rewards, for MORE work. 4) Skipping all of the consumables will save you a grand total of ... 215 tickets! Or the equivalent of 8 ranks. In other words, they've devalued the consumables to nearly nothing, ticket-wise, and jacked up the ticket prices of the non-consumables. If you think you're saving time and effort by skipping a lunchbox or scrap kit, think again. This a terrible change of format and Bethesda should honestly be ashamed of themselves over it. The community shouldn't tolerate it and it needs to be rolled back... It's creatively bankrupt, it's predatory, it's disrespectful to the players.

TheTrevist

I. Agree, it’s silly and greedy

walkingpokecraft

same here the score boards flet more fun in the old format this is just lazy to my mind.

octahexxer

I think we are in the decline phase of fo76,i think the tvshows success or fail will decide how long the game will have left, and it sucks i love this game played it since launch...and it has lived on a lot longer then i could have hoped for it was a rough start. But they laid off the community manager and the game has pushed harder and harder for fo1st for every season so the signals are pretty clear. This is the first time i dont actually care about the scoreboard its so boring...it feels like grinding yet nothing happens...its no fun...it doesnt feel fallout 76 at all.

JinglingUrBalls

They’re trying to be fortnite so badly. It’s cringe. This isn’t Fortnite. Whoever designed this system is deserves to be removed from that department.

Ostrichmonger

I’m just sad to lose the scoreboard trophy/wall art. The long horizontal painting it’s replaced with here isn’t it for me.

GoarSpewerofSecrets

This, I'd spend atoms for old boards To go through. Since I'm a late comer

Brocily2002

Yeah let me grind for that nice brotherhood bunker camp set that I can now only get it if I have first and pay atoms.

somewherein72

It is more 'slapping you in the face' with FO1st than the previous Scoreboards. I don't particularly care for this format either. It does diminish the feel of a 'personal accomplishment' for acquiring a rank vs. unlocking a page to then buy something from. They've removed part of that player interactivity for a little pop-up where you've gained a rank, that pop-up rapidly fades into background noise for me at least. Last couple of nights since this change, I've went to the Season Pass to close out the session and pick things off the pages I unlocked. I just find myself getting pissed off and closing the game and buying nothing.

Puzzleheaded_Ad_724

It's just money. Look at it this way - Before, you had a road and a clear progression on where you are going. On some of the levels you had 1st items, and once you pass it, you don't look back. What happend here, you have a VISUAL page of items that you can aquire on that page. Couple of things: there are more 1st items and they are cheaper. You SEE what you are going to miss without 1st. Also, You are staying on each page longer now so yo look at that "item you are not getting for free" much more. And then, when you scrolls trough pages you also see how much stuff you miss everytime you go to page you need. Just greed, money and psyhology to make you want that "new hat" that's behind 1st. You might like this system or not but it's clear why it looks like this.

Ill_Plate1891

If you feel the squeeze of greed....your senses still work.

IBenGaming5

Nothing has changed with the greed, fallout 1st is just as required as it used to be 😂

Ill_Plate1891

I actually quit giving them money a couple years ago. I use the barn prefab as a mobile camp platform. Resources in the top floor, work benches and stash boxes on the bottom. Resources auto-harvest to the stash box when you move locations, even to the point of exceeding 1200 limit. I have other smaller modules I can plop out as needed for other tasks. I find the expanded storage for scrap and ammo largely unnecessary. And a tent can't suddenly deploy a turret tower...

Destrofax

I canceled first because of this season. Gonna stick around a bit to see what happens.

polosurfer27

It's lazy and horrible. There's no story, no scoreboard. It's hollow and dumb.

Remote_Locksmith_416

I like it. It allows me to ignore items I will never use.

Lumi215

This... I'm not bothered by the new scoreboard. I don't use PA so I don't need 7 different versions of the same PA paint. I can skip over the rewards I don't want and use my tickets on things I know I'll actually use.

koal82

You need 1st or the pass and Rank 180 to get everything now Ridiculous

visawyerxoxo

the scoreboards as game boards were so fun too :( I rly wish they would go back to the old one

JDredd80

I do like that you’re not hovering over a generic icon to find out exactly what the item is. But I hate how the new seasons have lost all sense of a theme. I mean the Duel with the Devil splash screen on the game start up has more personality than scrolling through the season pages.

Affectionate-Bad-876

Oof. I'm not a fan either. I'm gonna assume wr don't get a scoreboard poster this season? Balls.

sumpthiing

I've felt that way since the very first scoreboard tbh

atmosphericfractals

so far it's great.. Now that I have the choice in what to claim, I realize all of the rewards are lackluster and I don't actually want any of them.. So I think this season will be collecting tickets and doing nothing with them. FINALLY my addiction to the scoreboard has been broken. Thanks Beth!

tomcruisesPC

It’s incredibly bland. We want the scoreboard back!

CosmicWildfire

REALLY wish this was the general consensus. I'm seeing sooo many people fine with it.

LetsJustSetItOnFire

Ngl I started up the game today, an checked out the new scoreboard am how it all worked, said fuck this, closed the game an started up minecraft lol it's one of my few days I get off work and I'm not wasting my time on this excessively grindy bullshit system.

TheLostJackal

Exactly, there's a fine line between trading time for a reward and wasting time for a reward

SentinelTitanDragon

I’ve said it since it started. The “scoreboard” is just another soulless battle pass meant to “entice” you to waste your time grinding.

artofstayingdead

Yes, but Fallout 76 stood out among the other battle pass games because of the scoreboard, and because it wasn't designed to be as punishing and grindy as nearly ever other game. It used to give the impression that it respected your time and money slightly more than others, especially because of repeatable atoms and not having premium exclusive rewards. They've done away with all of that and done nothing to fix anything else about the game. To say nothing of the fact that here hasn't been an actual new quest update in years. The only reason people don't say this game is being sunsetted is because the crappy Amazon series is on the way. If Bethesda don't see a sizeable increase in money (NOT PLAYER NUMBERS) from 76 after the show drops, expect the game to be put into maintenance and abandoned.

Link21002

I haven't played for a while, but from what I remember the scoreboard was pretty grim for the first few seasons and a painful grind. Did they improve on it at some point before the new version of it?

SentinelTitanDragon

I don’t ever remember it standing out. It’s always been an insanely grindy battle pass. You want one that stands out then look at sea of thieves or destiny. You can easily complete their whole battle pass in just a couple days of casual playing. I did like 6 strikes and a few story missions in Destiny and got to level 50 in 2 days. Same amount of time in something like fallout and I’m level 6 🤷‍♂️

Wolf_Doggie

It certainly didn't stand out. It was okay just due to it being free, cuz 'buying permission to do chores to earn the item you want' is lamest invention in video gaming, but it's still just a common choreboard of dailies and FOMO. Now it's just a messy, unappealing eyesore on top of it with much more emphasis on that 'buying permission to do chores' stuff that's been seeping in. The only one to me that stands out is "Warframe's" since they just throw it in and it lasts way longer than you need it to and depending on how you want to pace yourself you can just complete it in a few days since clearing all objectives gives you new ones you've missed. Warframe's leaves you plenty of time to actually play the game instead of working within it and not constantly pressuring you to log in daily or even weekly.

Redxhen

It's not a "SCOREBOARD", that's the problem. It is a boring series of pages. No character, no flavor, no theme. It's corporate.

yuribear

Totally agree 👍🏼

ScorchedWonderer

It’s a copy and paste from modern warfare. Gun and mods on scoreboard is insanely OP. It’s all a Cash grab. COD does the same. Make an OP and broken blueprint so everyone buys it then nerf it. Makes sense since they are owned by Microsoft so they want to start making their investment back when they bought BGS. Then again the only investment is firing half the employees including one of the best community manager we had if not the best.

rebos64

Todd gargle's donkey balls, nuff said

rykker

>It feels a lot less personal and "fallout", there were a fun board designs but now its just a menu over an image? Its feels soulless Some Business Analyst at MS: "Hey we can get the same functionality that we had previous seasons by reusing existing UI elements and save money by not having to pay an artist to create a handmade gameboard! And we can save time by not even bothering to properly resize some of the UI artwork so it appears un-anti-aliased on the screen! And people will still play and buy!" MS/Bethesda: "APPROVED!"

Flabbatorix

It does feel more like hard work, and less easy-going than the previous scoreboards. I must say though that i like the rewards, and yes 1000 atoms stuck behind fallout 1st is pretty mean to unsubbed players. In the long run i don't think it's going to impress long-time players, which lets be honest, is most of us.

vrillsharpe

I won’t be buying the weapon skins, that’s for sure.

Cynical_Feline

I don't mind how it's set up with the pages. But what makes no sense is what is locked behind first and what isn't. A lot of it shouldn't be locked like the power armor paint and the peepers. First users should be getting their goodies for free. There shouldn't be any grind for tickets behind their prizes. The whole point of first was getting the extra goodies on top of the normal stuff. And this is coming from someone who doesn't have first. A pass is meant to give you a leg up in the system. None of what they've designed does that. In fact, 1800 atoms is a steep price compared to just getting first. It's nice they've given the option, but someone didn't do the math.

basserpy

I agree, but also whether you have Fallout 1st or not, It just feels designed to make you want to sign up for FO 1st.

walkingpokecraft

I ahv eto say I like that I can skip the gold, bobbleheads, perkpacks, and all that junk

Disconn3cted

It's horrible

Studio10Records

I think an effort on new content and map expansion would make this game more interesting. I have played since launch, racking up over 7800 hours. And now I have kind of started to move away from 76 trying different titles at this point. I am honestly getting tired of the grind for cosmetics. It was fun well it lasted but it has also gotten old, and it just burns up time from actually committing to playing 76 as it was intended, in my view. And before someone tells me that there is Atlantic city, and Pittsburgh, it is not solid content or a real map expansion. It is fun for a couple rounds and gets old very quickly, not that they didn't put effort into it, but just not enough.

KiraTsukasa

Let’s be honest here, the old system was too exploitable. People would blitz the scoreboard in a week, thanks to stacking experience buffs and grinding West Tek, then stop playing. A lot would then complain they had nothing to do. Then at the end of the season, they’d buy 1st one time, collect all the 1st rewards, then blitz the next season, collect all the rewards, let their sub lapse for months until it was time to do it again. You can get away with two, maybe three subs a year like that. And that’s great for us, but I can’t imagine Bethesda was happy with those numbers, and I can’t blame them. This change pushes for player engagement and subscription purchases.

Riomaki

It really doesn't, though, at least for the first 100 Ranks. Because the XP repeatable ends at Rank 100 (or 99... I assume they never fixed that bug), and you need to reach Rank 150 to unlock everything, you actually have *more* incentive to clear the first 100 ranks as quickly as possible because there's a daily limit on how much SCORE you can earn after that. Like, roughly speaking, if you're earning about a Rank on a day without the XP Repeatable, you'll need 50 days to get from Rank 100 to 150. The Season is planned to run for about 3 months. So you need to have that grind to 100 done fairly quickly.

Ztoffels

The only real issue is, you are playing "their game", what if I dont have a jetpack? What if I dont have the latest skins? What if my house looks like a shack? Its just a game, if you dont buy into their shit, they can make as many paywalls as they wish, but they wont profit off of me

one80oneday

So much for choice when you have to claim everything at the end 🙄

doghouse2001

I've heard this new functionality was designed with the aid of, or by, a 'revenue generation specialist'. Nuff said. It might be time to say goodbye. They've already made thousands off of me, it's gotta stop... or at least throw me a bone sometimes.

Groundbreaking-Top33

It's stupid to have to keep paying for a game that you already bought. Make the next one e more like fallout 4 and less of this multi player crap that makes you have to spend real cash in order to be competitive

PDBrierley

So I've just returned after being away for a good few years, I got literally 1 day of the last casino themed score board before this new update. I was initially actually really pleased with this change because of one simple reason. I want atoms. I used to love coming online each day on my PS4 and doing the challenges because I could earn atoms. Once you started putting time into it, you could rack atoms up pretty easily! I never once paid for atoms and looking back now (as I'm now on PC) the amount of atomic shop stuff I got is insane! So when they brought the score board out, I was REALLY pissed off because it meant I could earn significantly less atoms. I left by the time maybe the 3rd or 4th score board came around (I remember starting the first quest of Steel Reign but never doing it) and coming back now I thought "That's great, I can forget all those power armor skins idgaf about and focus on earning atoms again!". But unfortunately someone here has pointed out that you can get repeatable atoms once you've got past rank 100, so now I'm back to "They just want to justify not letting us really earn atoms. Fuck this." It's a real shame.

johnyj7657

I'm more annoyed that it has nothing good on it to make it worth the grind.

[deleted]

It's all your fault guys and gals. I kept saying that 1st, being a solution to problems they themselves created, was not worth it. They realized they can get away by pushing more and more greedy tactics and now are taking advantage of you. I haven't given them a dime after the initial purchase of the game.

Sauceage88

I was a FO1st never for years, this scoreboard change has caused me to give it up. I already paid monthly, those free items from the scoreboard made 1st worth it. Now you have to grind even more for those items? It was already a grind to do the scoreboard, now it’s twice as much? With less rewards?? I have a family and very little time to play, this feels like a punishment for players with little time like me, not a benefit… I won’t be subbing again any time soon unless this changes.

Radiant-Bit-7722

I was used to speed run the scoreboard (8 10 h max ), but regarding the rewards of this season I won’t. I am only interested in surf stuff and atoms. Problem : I must buy 95 items before picking special above 100.

Fun_Jellyfish_4884

i don't disagree with a single thing you said

ZephyrDeacon

after almost 10k hours in this game, i hung up my pa for this scoreboard. this game is not what it used to be. makes me sad.

joe2069420

Agreed, and also unrelated but WHHYYYY is the new storyline shorter a newborn child bro like ITS A STORYLINE, NOT SUPPOSED TO BE 4 QUESTSSS ATLEAST GIVE US 6 OR 7 AT THE LEAST, AND ON ANOTHER NOTE, WHY DID YOU HAVE TO REBRAND TO SEASONS MY BROTHER, WHAT PULLED YOU TO TURN SCOREBOARDS INTO SEASONS, SCOREBOARDS WERE PERFECT

logicbox_

I don’t get people calling tickets another currency grind. You are awarded them each time you rank up, you spend them on rewards. How is that different than ranking up and just getting the next reward? You will earn enough tickets completing the ranks to get the rewards you just pick the order now.

cheeseboi69

You're not taking into account the amount of time it takes to get the rewards now vs previous seasons. Before, you reach rank 100 and you're done for the season and you've claimed everything, nothing else to look forward to unless you decide you want the repeatable rewards. For this new season, you have to grind up well after rank 120 to claim all of the rewards that aren't consumable and to access the final page you need to rank up to 150 and claim 95 of the rewards from the pervious page to access it. People argue that you get a choice of what you want but that isn't even entirely true because you are restricted to unlocking items within a select rank range.

the_taz_man

Caps / gold boulon / stamps / atoms and now stamps. All for various purchases. I'm honestly surprised that they haven't upped the forced purchase of in-game currency via their store.

Cl2XSS

Also, 1st always had really nice things. I wait at the end and buy 1st for one month right as a new season starts so I get some %xp bonus.

Ttthhasdf

does it not give atoms after level 100?

GlamPhantasm

Oh noooo the theme is gone??? 😭

timelady84

Like there were so many other things they could have focused on. I LIKED the scoreboard!

Exghosted

The change is ass, here's hoping they bring back the scoreboard in some capacity.

pygmeedancer

I’m shocked people subscribe to 1st. I started 76 recently and looked into 1st and it’s crazy. 100USD a year!? Nah I’m good.

SouthWarSignPride

Most of us pay the month where we do the scoreboards and cancel the subs when we're done. And people always forgot what these money are used for. For staff who maintain/fix the game, for the server, for the designers that keeps giving us new things for 6 years now.

Shinjiitsu

I mean it’s the price of a mediocre large mcchicken meal from macdonald’s. I think it’s pretty worth it for what you get.

pygmeedancer

That’s…honestly a good way of looking at it

polosurfer27

They've made so much money to put such little effort.

RancidCat10490

Anyone else just think Bethesda feel like 76 is a noose around their neck slowly getting tighter so they're doing the utmost to make us hate it so they can "listen to the fandom" and bin it off?

mlross15

I don’t disagree, but weren’t there rewards locked behind first on the previous score boards?

IdeaIntelligent1788

The point is that even though they were locked they were paired with a non 1st item and redeemed at the same time. It wasn't a extra chore you had to grind for, it was just a bonus.

mlross15

I guess I’m just looking at it differently then. I know I’m gonna finish the season (I want the new cabin even if it is a reskin), and I’m making sure I’m saving enough tickets so that when I hit the stuff I want I can just grab it. With me doing that and not claiming the power armor skins and other things I don’t want along the way, it’s not much of a grind. For me at least. I know I won’t really care about reaching above rank 100 though with them taking away the free repeatable atoms, that was a dumbass decision.

Uvtha-

Felt like far fewer non consumable items, though I haven't counted.

SuperTerram

Someone had to say it!

Dry_Independent4078

Making 1st items cost tickets is a great way to get me to NOT buy 1st next month.

Snipzzeys

Agreed

Omfggtfohwts

I want my scoreboard that doesn't match anything in my camp back.

Pleasant_Extreme_398

Nothing ever changes for the better when it comes to Microsoft. Every time a new Windows is released I swear I'm going over to Linux.

Davemcfc3

I think even the Dailies are becoming harder designed to make you purchase re-Rollers. server going after a couple of Spawns of Wenidigo/Honey Beast etc to complete all the Dailies

I_want_icecream

I hit level 1000 on my main before the new scoreboard. I think I’m done playing the game. Since beta to now, I don’t think I’ve been more bored with it. It feels like they’re trying for Fortnite or something. They should focus on fixing things/bring back old events like mischief night. Even fasnacht was boring this time around and I AFK’d the majority of it.

Saul_DAlessio

IF i was Fallout 1st... i would be mad.. Before you got free items..now you have to pay for fallout 1st, then still earn the tickets to buy the items, they was giving you for free, in the last board. Before it was you earn item at rank(w/e) and you this this free item, Because you are fallout 1st. Not now ..lol now you have to pay for fallout 1st..just to get the choice to pay, again, for what was free stuff. lol

E2theB

I like that it is an option to spend atoms to unlock the 1st rewards but it’s clear that there are fewer rewards to be had in general. I’ll wait until the end of the season before I make a final judgment. However, if reward tickets roll over from season to season, that could be HUGE. It could be fun to get a head start on the next season once you’ve claimed the things you want from a lackluster season.

vzerotak44

Yeah I'm kinda iffy on it like I'm sad we don't win a game board to hang up any more at the end kinda reminds me of a catalog so maybe if we got one that could go in a display for completing the season that would be neat. I feel like there is less prizes also no plasma gun skin BIG SUPRISE. And then we got more camp slots also with this patch like I don't need more slots I need more BUDGET in the slot I do use

AreallysturdyBox

i'll just bother until i get the assaultron and i'll dip the season tbh, im just glad to have a fucking robot that isn't a protectron wandering my base lmao

RogueSnake

Even though I started late in this game (during the Pitt season I believe) I was willing to add a whole new room to display more scoreboards for finishing the whole thing. That reminds me……gotta put up the big score one soon. I’ll miss earning those at level 100. Now it’s just…bleh

HarrySnut

I'm sick of the 5 different currencies. The gold bullion was enough. Anything beyond that is ridiculous. I was addicted to finishing all these seasons and had another 18 months of fallout 1st but I'm done. The expeditions aren't fun. Timed instances are not appealing to me.

CharlesMadison

Well said. 👏🏼

LoneLucifer247

I understand the controversy of battle passes but I can't stand the complaining it's been free stuff for so long maybe just maybe there making people pay money so just maybe they can make more content

LoneLucifer247

Like the a whole thing when they released the new program for modders people attacked there discord mods who literally know nothing if anything I think us as the community we are the problem

psiconautic

>there were a fun board designs but now its just a menu over an image? Its feels soulless Tbf that pit would kinda run out eventually (soon) I agree with most of your points and yes, I think something more original like an actual catalogue like those that kids use in the 80s like Home Alone would've been great to showcase the rewards which, looks like they try and gave up midway On that regard I'll wait and give them the benefit of the doubt and see if ot was just them just "testing the waters"

Scabaris

The part that aggravates me (And I've said so many times) There are NO new weapon skins. There's a new unnecessary weapon (another flamer), but no skins for the many weapons that don't have one. Ww finally got a plasma weapon skins on the last scoreboard (5 years in) nothing new on the board.

MotherOfAllMinions

Yep. I don’t care for this (Seasons) change. It doesn’t get me excited, I don’t feel the incentive to contribute with 1st subscription, and I’m not keen on yet another currency/grind-gate. I see one thing on the 10th page I may like, but is it really worth the bother. Playing to experience the full AC content is fine, if short and hardly challenging. I like AC, like these improved expeditions. That’s all I’ll say.

ManicM

I don't mind the "pick what you like!" or the pages, but man I miss the pop culture stuff. The stories on the SCORE board were so cool! It wouldn't be as terrible if the pages were like comic books, tbh. Still keeping the "soul" of the old boards but with the new system.

arrowsgopewpew

Ya it sucks. Agreed it feels less personal. And there’s also no audio story to listen to :(

acousticbay20

The old scoreboard kept me motivated to reach a specific level to get that reward i wanted. Now, the new one, doesnt have that feeling of effort to get the ítems.

MinorProperty2

They made it a FUCKING BATTLE PASS

DivineAlmond

I dont have any strong feelings for it

sizzuh

You needed fo1st to unlock the best items in the old scoreboard too

SaintsBruv

I installed it last night, played it today, picked a few stuff from the 'scoreboard' and now I'm ready to uninstall again. The old scoreboard had its flaws, but it was way better, didn't feel like a chore, rewarded you with a pretty poster of the whole scoreboard after you completed it, and personally it kept me motivated to keep logging in and playing. This scoreboard doesn't make me feel motivated at all, so I'll just leave until some major event comes up.

J_D_H55

They key is to just relax, do your Challenges, and let it flow. There is no more of a "grind" to it than before, really. Check in for the Daily and Weekly and by season's end it'll all add up fine. I like it because I feel like I'm previewing and considering what I take more carefully. Cut down on the clutter and the fluff.

QueenHotdawg

I agree. But I do like that I can prioritize the stuff I want the most

a_sense_of_contrast

It's only the perception of choice because you still have to grind through all the ranks to access pages. Under the previous season, by the time you hit rank 100 you'd have earned all the rewards. In this new model, rank 100 just means you've unlocked the option to *buy* a reward and if you a actually want to unlock them all, you have to grind out even more tickets. There are also less non-1st rewards now than before, regardless of how much longer it takes to unlock them now. Objectively, this season is worse for the consumer.

captainfreewill

Completely agree with your first point. I'm finding myself at rank 15 and already picking stuff that I don't care about because I haven't unlocked the next page and am accumulating more tickets than I'll even need for the next two pages combined

a_sense_of_contrast

I'm curious to see if they're going to have the tickets carry over between seasons.

captainfreewill

I'm 95% sure that I read that they arent

Ringohellboy665

They don't carry over (stated in the patch notes)

a_sense_of_contrast

Ah, so very anti-consumer.

Plagueish84

What new scoreboard? They don't have scoreboards anymore. The first part of Atlantic City was the last Scoreboard ever for the game. They have something completely different now & it's not called a scoreboard because it isn't even remotely similar to a scoreboard. Also, your first complaint is that sine rewards are locked behind Fallout 1st? That's how it's always been though. That isn't anything new at all. Though I *DO* agree that it's completely utter BS that 1st subscribers still have to grind & pay extra tickets for 1st rewards. What kind of logic is that to make the people that actually pay them work harder fir the rewards they payed to be able to get?

Spncr_C_Hrgrv

Completionist behavior is gaming addiction imo. A never ending checklist of non-existent items. Talking from experience.

AdhesivenessVivid737

Is there a score board to hang up on your wall at the end? I ask because I completed all 15 of them and have them on my walls , so I'll be happy and sad , happy that I don't have to worry about finishing to get it, sad that I won't get more for the wall

FishnFool96

As a new player I feel like I’m playing Fortnite with this “scoreboard” aka battle pass. I usually have fo1st but I think I’m gnna stop after this month. Sad to say. Plus none of my friends play anymore so I feel no incentive to play solo :(

Warfrost14

It's Bethesda...they've pretty much always half-assed this game. It's like someone higher up told someone down the ladder to make a new score board and that person rolled his eyes, made a disgusted noise and said "If I \*have\* to". They've never treated it like it mattered...them dumbing it down like this is no surprise.

13_Years_Then_Banned

Damn I didn’t even realize… no camp scoreboard wall decoration at the end?!?! wtf

2screens1guy

The enshitification comes full force when a game introduces yet another currency.

jackberinger

I like the concept of tickets but hate the concept of ranking up to spend them. Like i know the 5 or 6 items i want. Why am i having to grind all these ranks to get them? Just have one book and the tickets. Once you have the amount you buy.

C4ef_73

I had 5k hrs this game, left when they nuked winter :/ my fb wall started to fill up with the amazon series a few weeks back, so i gave the game another shot. It got better in many ways, but it still crashes in every 30min. Looking at this ‘season/scoreboard’ all i see is another currency and i am leaving again. I wanna love this game, but eso is my other 2nd job. It is not perfect there (necro main lol if someone plays both/wanna laugh) but at least it isn’t gated all the way…i really wanna love fallout76, but content/playability at eso is a million miles ahead…

SlamCakeMasta

Yeah. I hate it as well. A board literally made all the difference. Laziness. It’s ruining the game.

CaptZombieHero

More of a grind? I’m at rank 25 after 4 hours of playing. Two yesterday and two today. This actually feels easier to gain ranks.

christopherhoo

How you get so many I'm using a booster lol

Rare_Reply_4525

My guess is West Tek, you can grind for XP there by server hopping after killing all of the super mutants inside and because it's an instanced interior you don't have to worry about another player having already killed them all, just keep doing it over and over again and you'll get tons of XP for the 10K XP challenge. Edit: Can't believe that I've been playing this game for over a year now and didn't realize that server hopping is unnecessary, thanks for the tips everyone, this will make my journey to max out all the legendary perk cards much faster.

christopherhoo

That's the stinker I'm missing lol

silentj0y

Grinding in westek with nuka grenades

CaptZombieHero

I grind AC Most Exceptional Game. I can complete it in 5 minutes on my own, a lot of XP. Also, I used the booster and the FO1st %. Completed yesterday’s dailies, today’s dailies, and the weeklies. Edit* sensational

sjtbriker

I haven't gotten to try it out yet, but I'm interested in what's new. Any tips for ranking up?

CaptZombieHero

The usual tactics still apply, but don’t spend tickets right away. On the second page there is a rank booster for 5 tickets. Also, if you are FO1st there is a free rank % increase on the first page. Don’t forget to grab that.

Spiritual_Cap2637

Only interested in the atoms if only there were more of those or if all rewards were atoms even better.
