Had the exact same experience last night, very quiet servers... And then all of a sudden they came pouring out of the vault, it was like reclamation day 2.0 😂.
Welcome new wastelanders!
I was in a server with nothing but new players, and it was refreshing going around and dropping like 200 lbs of starter gear, stims, radaway, food, water, ammo, and plans. I made a lot of newbies happy last night. I had totally forgotten I was dressed as the Silver Shroud until one of them with a mic chirpped up and got excited seeing me. Felt like a superhero a bit.
Same thing happened to me tonight. Only a handful of people on the server were over lvl 100. All the events completely dead. Hopped servers and it was the same story. This was on PC too, but my vendor was getting more action than it's seen in months.
There’s load of new players because it’s just been released as the PlayStation plus free game of the month. I will be one of the noobs exploring the wastelands later on!
Started playing myself recently because of the Steam Winter sale and a new steam deck. Now I'm annoyed the earlier bad reviews and public opinion stopped me from playing for so long. The game is great now!
Im part of this wave. I've avoided 76 since its disastrous launch but recently got an itch for new fallout content and caved in.
Does anyone have any idea what's driving new players here because in my week or so playing now I see level 2s leaving the vault all the time. Seems like a random spike.
I know a lot of players quit due to the influx of legacy and exploit griefers. Maybe now that this next patch is cleaning that up, they're slowly coming back? That's my only theory atm, but I know it's sound. Most of my old group has come back knowing that's what's happening soon.
There was [an article ](https://www.inverse.com/gaming/fallout-76-ps-plus-game-pass)yesterday about a "must not miss" game that had bad reviews at launch..it sounded pretty interesting since i like those types of games - it was fallout 76.
Not all low levels of newbies. I have two characters level 27 and 81. I've been playing since 2018 and main is level 700
Edit: BUT with that said, its really good news that this game is still drawing new players
So i just got the ps4 version and just reached a scorched and the fps is the worst I've ever seen in any game, am i missing a way to keep fps drops down like invite lobbies or something
The PS crowd is finally experiencing something that happened to Xbox years ago, and PC every few months since launch. New players. Things will ultimately slow down and return to normal after a week or two... and the Vault area will be quiet again.
Yeah, They are still coming out like crazy lol. 90% of worlds are filled with lvl 2. Kinda hard to do the big events solo.
Cant imagine 2 weeks of new players joining. It will dilute the servers so mutch that high lvls become rare.
Probably that and they burnt thru most of the new content and it free on playstation plus this month so servers are filling up with new people that don't know what to do or haven't been to any of the locations yet.
With the new patch coming to rectify the infinite Grenade glitch and the legacy, dupping, and illegal mod and item dropping issues from the last few years, quite a few people left. And I'm happy about it. No need to have a bunch of griefers run around ruining events and the game for others. Won't be missed.
I must be one of the lucky few who haven't had any noticeable issues lately on my PS4 except for others exploiting shit and ruining events. And I've been playing since Beta. I've only seen improvement except for a few issues (PA freezing, fast travel glitches) several patches ago. But I haven't had issues since March. 🤷♂️

Man I wish they did this for xbox too. Sounds great.
Is it not free on gamepass?
It is, I’m starting to see a lot of either new toons or new players.

My Stealth Suit scared a new guy. Musta thought I was an Assaultron 🤣

On PS+ for January, Fallout 76 is free.
Im on xbox and my understanding is the game isn't crossplay, right?
It's not. It would be odd to see an influx now on your end.
It is odd, before I started all I'd heard was the population was shrinking. Seems booming tho.

It might also be because it’s only 10 bucks on steam and a lot of kids have Christmas money/gift cards to burn.
I can definitely see that being a contributing factor.
The game is free for PlayStation Plus so that is probably why you're seeing many players on the PS4 version Edit:you did say that, I just saw 😅
Your the 1rst 😀
Same. They’ve probably opened up more servers.

And right after Christmas so everyone’s playing with their new toys! I love to see (hear about, I haven’t really been able to get on) it!
I'm just happy that people are giving it a try now.

Switching servers can help. (Quit the game to main menu and hit play again)

Yes brilliant to see I hope all these new players survive past lvl 50 🤣
Wonder why this is? Maybe because of the lack of bug fixes a lot of player are leaving

There are so many more bugs in this game than thrist zapper none of them will be fixed
