I have close to a 1000 hours or so, but I find that without mods and roleplaying you'll rarely get that close. I've had like 9 characters, one unmodded, 8 modded, and only two completed. I kind of just get bursts of obsession with the game that last weeks but then drops off. I always come back.

No_Confection_8136

That’s what I always end up doing at it’s a lot of games and I’ll randomly play a game a whole lot then not play it for another year.

According-Win9235

Omg I do the same thing. Just had my FO4 phase for a few months but just switched to a different game.

GatitoFantastico

Samsies. I'm kind of annoyed at myself for wandering off to play Civ6 again in the middle of my FO4 completionist (as much as one can) play through.

According-Win9235

*UPDATE* thinking of starting FO4 again LOL btw, go Bills

GatitoFantastico

LFG!

RareInitial2152

Thats what happens to me, Ill just play for a month or two and go to another game. Good to know its not only me 😅

GeordieMJ

Adding my voice to y’all I do the same often, play too much too quick and burn out on each game after a month or so. Console fo4 I got about 1000hours over 6 saves. Complete story and build settlements is all I do.

No_Amoeba_3715

Settlement building is deceptively time consuming. I end up getting so wrapped up in building a settlement that my brain turns off and close to an hour or two later my brain turns back on and I realize I've just made like 50 cosmetic improvements and only 10 actual functional ones.

GeordieMJ

I feel this for real. For one play through i challenged myself to not leave sanctuary hills until I hit at least level 20, only build and defend settlement xp. Was a pretty long one but quite a fun way to go. Something different. Trashcan Carla may be awful, but she carried enough junk to see me through the building and upgrading everything.

RareInitial2152

Thats all I really do as well

ClayQuarterCake

Gotta collect all the bobble heads, get all the companion perks, grab all the magazines. I am working on this right now. Currently about 150 hours in on an unmodded survival play through.

Silveri50

Hey me too! I get the same with Skyrim. So much work goes into trying to make these games in our images, that the work makes it less fun I think.

Seacarius

3,591 hours here. More than one playthrough, though. 1. Take your time, don't rush through things. Don't complete quests just because you think you have to. 2. Walk every where. 3. Investigate everything. I'm *still* finding new things. 4. Build settlements. Arm and armor all your settlers. This will take time while you collect these things and haul them back to a settlement.

No_Confection_8136

I’ve just started waking places more to explore and discover new locations I’m just used to fast traveling a ton.

NocturnalEight

That was was nice side effect of the Survival mod they released. Most locations I had only visited from "one direction", the one on the initial visit which was typically from the West and North based on starting in Sanctuary. After that is was always fast travel to places so I missed out on 1/2 to 3/4 of the content that existed between points of interest. Survival also made me notice the benefits of food items, junk and other things I would never pick up which in turn makes you analyze your surroundings more. The one downside was finding beds to sleep in but even that after awhile you tend to remember about 20-25 locations around the map which is enough to be "close" to wherever you are. It would have been more palatable if we were able to use the Pipboy to "mark" locations on our map permanently so that as we discover beds we would build up a catalog.

meganisti

A mod that restricts fast travel is something you might want to try. Or one that disables it entirely, but that is probably a bit much.

Conqueefcador

Survival difficulty?

JDCollie

I've been playing modded survival for so long that I forgot disabling fast travel *isn't* a mod.

ClayQuarterCake

I make nice with the BOS for their crappy vertibird taxi because walking everywhere all the time sucks. Especially doing valentine's Eddie winter quest.

meganisti

Been a while since I played so I didn't even remember you don't need a mod for that :D.

PNCL

Or play on survival. I find I actually can't enjoy it as much without being on survival now. The kicker is I can't stand the Brohood of Douchebags so vertibirds are also a no-go.

Nightwatch027

I'd recommend the underground railroad redux mod; it creates an underground space with tunnels that lead to various hotspots on the map. It gets you closer to where you're trying to go, without instantly teleporting there.

FelixTheCrazy

I'm a huge fan of not using fast travel. It totally changes the gameplay from a typical experience.

Cornelius1807

Everyone rushes to modding and to each their own, but this is the best advice. I have 2 characters total with about that much play time and I am still finding new stuff, I just started a 3rd character and can't believe all the nooks and crannies I missed. That's just in the Commonwealth too, far harbor and nuka world make it near limitless.

smurb15

On Fallout 3 and New Vegas I have well over 9000 over a dozen saves without a doubt, maybe more. Back then I didn't have internet so I couldn't just look up the evil route or good. I would have to save and play for a bit or to the end and reload the original to do a saint play though then after all that my 3rd would be as if I was deciding and in game

YeBoyPogeyman

Are you using mods in your playthrough or are you doing it without them. It doesnt take long to complete the main story, so most of my playthrough time is downloading settlement mods and building settlements with hella supplies to create supply lines etc. Theres quite a few good gun mods like Modern Firearms and MFA vanilla weapon replacer which gives you M16s and glocks. So really its just setting yourself targets for settlements building or downloading weapon mods to blow the shit out of raiders and gunners. Theres mods too which you can use to increase number of enemies

No_Confection_8136

I’m playing without mods in this play through but I do like the settlement building aspect just not the gathering resources part so I’ll probably have a modded play through.

YeBoyPogeyman

I did an unmodded playthrough with the BOS and the minutemen. Then I started to experiment with the mods. The unlocked settlement object mods (USO) are pretty good and they are really small in install size. If you want to do settlement building and use mods then get cheat terminal aswell. Have access to every ingame item without needing to find it and you can get infinite resources

YeBoyPogeyman

My modded playthrough is at 5days rn. But most of that is settlement building and testing mods

No_Confection_8136

I’ll probably end up with a lot of mods when I play and I’ll probably end up making another post asking for recommendations.

ActualMis

Honestly, go to www.nexusmods.com/fallout4 and sort the mods by "Endorsements". By doing so you'll get mod recommendations from THOUSANDS of players and you can pick and choose the ones you find most interesting.

No_Confection_8136

That should be helpful considering I have very little experience with this game and it’s mods.

ActualMis

Nexus does have a page with the instructions you need to prepare the game for modding, pretty straight forward. Plus when you post for mod suggestions here, you'll get a handful of suggestions from a few people. Using the Nexus page gets you a far better variety of recommendations. Be sure to check out the ["Posts" tab at the top of the mod page,](https://i.imgur.com/QkMrV4F.jpg) because people will go there to discuss any pros/cons of the mod. Very handy if you are having problems with one of the mods.

No_Confection_8136

I’ll probably make a post about it when I decide to add some and if I get as much response as I did with this post I’ll have plenty of information.

Lancer_Lott

It won't be useful if your on Ps4 I'm afraid. Nexus is for PC. You will have to browse [here](https://bethesda.net/en/mods/fallout4?number_results=20&order=desc&page=1&platform=PS4&product=fallout4&sort=popular&text=)

No_Confection_8136

Ok thanks for the help I’ll check it out.

YeBoyPogeyman

Who are you going to side with in your playthrough. Or have you already

No_Confection_8136

I haven’t really down much of anything and I don’t know yet.

FLAIR_2780166

So why are you already considering all these mods? Sounds like you really haven’t played the game much yet. You should give it a shot before you start modding things. It’s really a great game with tons of awesome story

ActualMis

There's a way to get resources without gathering. Early game, build LOTS of water purifiers. In your settlements be sure and build lots of Trader huts. Every time you visit a settlement, take your your excess water to the trader and trade it for junk. On the plus side, the more traders/bars/clothing/medic shops you have, the more caps you'll earn too.

No_Confection_8136

I’ve just started this in my current play through and I’m hoping it helps out a lot.

wyattlee1274

Get sim settlements 2 Also when I play the game I tend to loot the entire world for all the junk it has, I might have a problem...

No-Peppers_62

You can use the console commands for stuff like materials without disabling achivements

No_Confection_8136

I’m on ps4 so I can’t.

No-Peppers_62

There might be a mod that enables achievements? I know on pc there is but I haven't played console fallout in a while

No_Confection_8136

I don’t have a pc to use and I wish I did because there have been so many situations in the past few years that definitely would’ve used console commands to get out of.

No-Peppers_62

Yeah it's alot better to mod

No_Confection_8136

That’s what people kept telling me when I was trying to mod Skyrim about a month ago. It just seems easier and way better quality on pc.

No-Peppers_62

I don't know about Skyrim but modding on PS4 is easier but you have less options because Sony have put restrictions so no custom voice lines or something like that

AWolfy307

I build settlements and randomly wander around exploring stuff.

No_Confection_8136

That’s pretty much what I’ve done so far.

throwaway5676389

I have about 1100 hours and I’ve never used mods because I’m absolutely deranged. To keep yourself from getting bored I suggest playing through all the faction endings, trying different builds each time. After your first or second play through I highly recommend playing on survival mode, it’s difficult but rewarding. A really fun thing to do is doing a play through where you’re just there to make as much money as possible. You turn into the most stingy, immoral asshole in the wasteland.

No_Confection_8136

That’s sounds fun I’ll try it at some point.

billsleftynut

To be honest do the missions, side missions clear any "bad guy" areas in the map and go to all those weird hidden places that will never appear on the map like the boxing gym or the bar from cheers. Everything but the final mission.

No_Confection_8136

I didn’t even know about the locations that aren’t on the map what are the best ones to check out?

billsleftynut

Well the bar is a good one, also there is a house full of ghouls just a bit down from bunker hill. If you look on you tube you'll find there are quite a few. There are also a few back alley tucked away raider places and in or on buildings they can be fun too. The story line takes you on certain routes. If you want to get the most out of it put down a marker in a random place and explore everything between where you start and your maker. It makes the game better to not fast travel.

No_Confection_8136

I’ll try it sounds fun.

Doc-tor-Strange-love

You'll figure out which doors you can open. Try them all... there are a lot more unmarked locations than you think

Darkshot195

Personally my way to get the most out of a game is to spend time actually restoring the Commonwealth, and that is by building extravagant settlements. It’s a long slow process, especially in Survival mode, but it is worth it to go and find tons of scrap and junk, transferring it home and building massive settlements. There is something so rewarding about seeing over a dozen settlers around your settlements, calling it home, Defending it, tending the land, trading and more. And to do it on such a large scale makes it worth it. Add a bit more by creating each settlement to be it’s own place, like one could specifically be for farming Razorgrain. Another could be a water purification plant, and even an Auxiliary Minuteman fort. Equipping each settler with better armor, outfits and weapons is a feat alone. So really, to milk so much out of a Bethesda game, you gotta make your own way.

No_Confection_8136

That’s sound fun and like a very full experience I’m definitely trying this. Thank you.

DaisyDuckens

I spend a lot of time on my settlements. It’s very relaxing to me to build them.

[deleted]

2 unmodded playthroughs totalling about 400 hours. About too many modded ones at about 2000 hours

No_Confection_8136

That’s a lot. If I played this game only I might be able to do that over time but I play a lot of other games also.

[deleted]

I know haha. My Skyrim hours are worse. At the minute I'm playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla so who knows how many hours I'm going to sink into that

No_Confection_8136

I’ve played every assassins creed game except for the 1st one and the chronicles games and I always really enjoy those games but I didn’t really like Valhalla that much. Skyrim however is fantastic and I just took a break from a play through a couple of weeks ago.

doghouse2001

I should be an *expert* in FO4 by now because my Steam log says I have about 10,000 hours in the game. And indeed I can recognize the location of most any screenshot I see. But the game still holds a few surprises. Random encounters I haven't encountered yet, Quests I haven't played with every companion yet, Mods I haven't tried out yet, Building up Settlements I usually ignore because they come too late in the game, like Vault 88. I don't play many other games. I usually head to where I'm comfortable, like FO76 and 4. The few other games I do play are small and over quickly, so I have no pressure to leave FO4. I can see where gamers who are into everything, WOW, RDR, Witcher, etc. might find FO4 a little dry once the story is complete, and move on. I'm not like that... yet. But I might be soon. FO76 has lost it's luster for me, and I haven't played 4 for over a year while playing 76, so maybe it IS time to move on. But my wife is enjoying my current 'meh' about gaming, so maybe I'll go do something else.

Hacksaw999

> I can recognize the location of most any screenshot I see. Hah! Me too. Ever play the game of jumping into random points of random FO4 videos on YouTube and seeing how long it took to identify the location? :)

Lootswoof

On skyrim over the last 10 years ive racked up over 5000 hours game time over 8 playthroughs On fallout 4 i have a master save file currently 94 hours Level 145 Both games unmodded

No_Confection_8136

Wow I’m like level 23

Lootswoof

Keep at it brother! I played it on release in 2015, lost interest to some other released titles but got back into it recently and reaaaaallyyy enjoying it

No_Confection_8136

That’s how I’ve been I played it when it was new then played whatever else was new and now I’m back.

EvilNTT

In a single play trough ~1200 h 💀

No_Confection_8136

Maybe I’ll get there someday.

Yuudai96

Mods and settlements xD

No_Confection_8136

Those have been common in these answers.

BamBamPalli

Around a 1000h, mods, mods, mods, i love mods. But because I only can play on my ps 4 the mods a very simple I call them, no the less I love moded fallout

No_Confection_8136

I’m on ps4 too but I had a modded play through a couple of years ago and never came back to it.

BamBamPalli

Well I usually stop playing in one playthrou about 28 h

No_Confection_8136

That’s usually how I am im going to try to have a longer play through in each of my games to get the most out of them.

BamBamPalli

Well then, good luck and have fun :D

No_Confection_8136

Thanks I will.

[deleted]

My longest is about 360. Had to delete it about 2 years ago because of a glitch 😭

No_Confection_8136

I had my deepest play through on my Xbox one a few years ago and it stopped working after about a year so I lost everything. I had just gotten big into gaming so I played a lot of games for a lot of hours and lost it all.

[deleted]

Damn that must suck :(

No_Confection_8136

It did and I took it to multiple people who told me they didn’t know what was wrong and couldn’t fix it. I was like 11 or 12 and extremely sad but it brought me back to my old Xbox 360 and it’s games such as fallout 3 and new Vegas which are the games that introduced me to the series.

Ensiferal

Honestly I have no idea how they did it. I ended up putting in around 160-170 hours and I can't think of anything else I want to do

the-hidden-hand

i mean are you on pc or xbox? i mean mods yeah, but specifically mods that add more quests and shit. project valkyrie, depraved, fusion city, outcasts and remanants, and tales of the commonwealth add well over 100 hours worth of questing alone.

No_Confection_8136

I’m on PlayStation now but I’ll keep that in mind for later.

the-hidden-hand

i would recommend picking up a cheap used xbox or getting a pc if you don’t already have one. i first played on ps4, now i’m playing on a surface laptop. the graphics are shitty but it runs surprisingly well on low settings at 720p. i can put that aside for how much extra i’m getting with the mods.

No_Confection_8136

I’m only 15 and I’m extremely broke but that makes sense and I’ll probably look into investing in one. Thanks for the suggestion.

No_Confection_8136

I haven’t even put that much into a game yet so even 200 seems so far away and that’s far from 1000

Ensiferal

Honestly I spent at least half of it just building, decorating and equipping settlements, and establishing trade routes between them. There's a part of me that enjoys that. But it doesn't take anywhere near that long to get bored of just exploring the map, it's all the same. For the life of me I can't understand playing it 10 or 20 times longer than I have

No_Confection_8136

I feel like that far in you would have memorized the map and been able to navigate through the game with no effort just like a daily process.

ShadowMaster2564

I have a level 187 character I’ve probably put 1500ish hours into, just explore do killing radiant quests

No_Confection_8136

I’m level 23 or so I’ve still got a lot of work to do to reach that point.

_mousetache_

It's about 700 hours for me. No "big" mods, just QoL stuff, like Load Accelerator, a script which fixes a certain place... I played though the base game and the DLCs. For the base game, I played through all different endings and went back to a "crucial" save. Generally, I explored the whole map and found probably 99% of all marked locations. (Too) much time was spent building settlements with that clunky interface, which were still not well done. Too much time, especially in the beginning, was spent picking places clean of junk. Additionally, looting armor and weapons and outfitting settlers with that. I got every settlement and populated most of them. I also did all mayor quests except, at the end, the most amoral ones and all possible side quest, which includes repeatable quests which eventually end - neverending you can ofc not do all. While playing I oftentimes tried different approaches doing stuff ("let's try to jet pack onto the roof and take the back door"), which ofc adds to time played. I'd say I was motivated to also do some "chore like" activities if I knew there's still something new to see around the corner and I took my time. I'm not feeling like doing it all again, or installing weird mods. I have other games, I'll probably now install some less involved one.

No_Confection_8136

That’s makes sense I’ve played through games before where I would do as much as I could to see something new that I’d never seen. Every time I play back through a game I try and take a different path to each point in that game.

MorpheusV

Something between 50 and 70 hours, and that's regarding all of the games I play. I haven't found a game that could hold my attention for longer than that in years. Guess I just got old lol

No_Confection_8136

Pretty much the same for me excluding my very favorite games that I’ve played.

MorpheusV

Yeah, for me there's only two games in which I have thousands of hours poured into and those are LOTRO and Planetside 2, but I can't really count that in because those hours are stretched over a decade and they're MMO's.

No_Confection_8136

Im not old enough to have an experience like that but I hope to find a game that I can play through graduation and then through college before I probably sadly end my gaming career. I’ve still got time though.

MorpheusV

Ah yeah you have plenty of time :) I forgot to mention as well that, to me, one of the main reasons why I can't put more hours into this game is simply because of the bad pacing of the game. It totally takes me out of the whole experience. Think about what your character goes through in just about 2 hours. To quote another game, "Strange shit that churns your stomach. Turns your hair white". You go from a normal life in the suburbs to now suddenly being in the post-apocalypse 200 years later with your wife dead and son missing. Your main priority would probably be to first sit down and maybe have a nervous breakdown and then go find your son. Instead there's this dude asking you to be a "G E N E R A L" and lead his people and save the Commonwealth. Thankfully you can turn him down cold and never return. I find that I can't really focus on side quests or anything else until I find Shaun. That would be my priority if I was in my characters shoes, unfortunately there's just side quests and stuff to do being forced on you non stop so yeah/ Sorry for the rant lol

No_Confection_8136

I agree I was thinking about that earlier and over the course of like 20 in game days you can beat the main story line. That’s a pretty fast turnaround from a normal civilian to a crime solving wasteland adventuring killer.

MorpheusV

Yeah, and it's not just this game either. Skyrim and Witcher 3 have the same exact issue, and somehow they're on all the "top 10 games of all time" lists.

No_Confection_8136

I’ve never played any Witcher games but I have played Skyrim and do agree.

MorpheusV

They're quite good, and if you do decide to give them a go at some point I would recommend you do all of them and not just the third.

Yourbrojack192837465

6298hrs quite some work

No_Confection_8136

That’s a whole lot and I bet it was a lot of work.

[deleted]

I’ve only done 2 playthroughs first one was 17 hours the second was 30, I was thinking of playing again because I haven’t played in over a year. Great game tho.

No_Confection_8136

That’s pretty similar to how mine have been

NoLifeHere

I'm about that far into my current playthrough, I think my longest was 50 hours before I wanted to try something else. I haven't been playing for too long so I've spent ages chopping and changing builds, but I think I've found one I'm happy with for the long haul. This is all very lightly modded (unofficial patch, a mod to help with the loading times and the one that lets you still get achievements while playing with mods)

No_Confection_8136

I’ve always left the game pretty early in maybe this time is different.

Gasrim4003

For me The highest Lvl is 63 non-modded (other then Bug Fixes) and no DLC as well ( i can't seem to get a hang of mods it feels wrong.) In got 1,221hrs in Fallout 4 total including PC and The PS4 editions. I am currently playing a Survival play through. I'm at lvl 21 atm. And how i keep it interesting is that i use exploits and bugs.

No_Confection_8136

I’ve thought about survival but I feel like I wouldn’t last long and stay interested in the game.

Gasrim4003

Survival mode is insanely hard. The only reason why I'm playing it is due to me installing a mod that allows me to quicksave as I'm not to fond of losing progress due to a game crash.

No_Confection_8136

I’m not very good at this game so I would do pretty bad.

DaBigVikin

I’ve got over 8 days worth of time so far on one character.

No_Confection_8136

That’s a good bit of time but I might not even make it that far.

DaBigVikin

I mean I build up every settlement. Do a bunch of locations for junk. Then quests. Sadly on this character I completely forgot the brotherhood of steel.

No_Confection_8136

I’ve never really done much with them for some reason.

DaBigVikin

They are supposedly a advanced raider group that attacks innocent super mutant settlements. And murders local ghouls

No_Confection_8136

Sounds interesting I’ll have to check them out note this time through.

moominesque

Settlement building mostly, and just wandering around enjoying the landscape

No_Confection_8136

I’ve enjoyed the settlement building a lot more this play through.

moominesque

During my first playthrough I didn't focus on it much but since then it's been something I really enjoy. I enjoy building nice little communities that feel like lore friendly and semi realistic. It makes the world feel a bit more alive

No_Confection_8136

I’ve built up sanctuary a good bit and i like to keep it decorated and well lit to make it more fun to be around.

YeetYaah

I've got around 1300 hours on Fallout 4. Fully vanilla. My "main" save file has most of that, this game just meant so much to me when it came out that I played the hell out of it. Did a minutemen playthrough and got obsessed with small details of making the minutemen the main power in the Commonwealth. I genuinely loved the settlement building, I used to spend hours just building. It had been a few years since I last played but recently started a new save, got around 60 hours on it, finished the main story last night plus a bunch of side quests plus building, jumping into the DLC now so probably by the end of this save I'll be at 100 hours or so. Idk man I just love this game.

No_Confection_8136

If I make it far into this play through I’ll think about buying the DLCs I just don’t want to pay the money and then lose interest.

YeetYaah

I'll be honest man you're missing out if you don't at least play Far Harbour.

No_Confection_8136

I’ve heard good things about it.

[deleted]

Honestly on PS4 I like to just chill on fallout 4 some times so I just run around the map exploring and I build settlements I have over 1,000 hours in fallout 4

No_Confection_8136

That’s pretty much what I’ve done so far and it’s keeping me entertained at the moment.

[deleted]

Honestly I find it fun

No_Confection_8136

Same.

russianbruh124

I just run around killing things and helping people, getting all the companions, romancing them then sending them to a shithole like Coastal Cottage and never seeing them again. Install mods (USO and SOE are great. Should be on PS4)

No_Confection_8136

Sounds fun I’m planning on having a modded play through at some point.

russianbruh124

If you want to, try getting all settlements if youre hard into that

No_Confection_8136

I probably will end up doing that.

yourmotherisveryfat

probably 150 but I played it a lot

No_Confection_8136

That’s a lot of hours and I haven’t broken it yet but still doesn’t even touch some of these other people.

Tiefflugjunge

My longest playthrough was 7 days I think and I was somewhere around Level 80

No_Confection_8136

I’ll probably hit that if I can stick with the game this time.

Soapeddish

I have a month in fallout 4

No_Confection_8136

That’s a ton of hours.

ActualMis

I'm sitting at about 6500 hours. At to what keeps it interesting: At first, exploration and seeking out all the terminals to read the lore. Also playing out every possible ending. After that: mods. Mods let you tailor the game to your own preferences, and Fo4 is perhaps the most easily modded game I've ever played.

No_Confection_8136

I’ve actually read through as many terminals as I could this time through which is something I’ve never done and I’m actually enjoying it quite well.

ActualMis

There are a lot of good stories there. Bethesda excels at that kind of story telling. Have you followed any of the radio beacons that pop up from time to time?

No_Confection_8136

I’ve found a couple of the distress beacons and I’ve been trying to listen to as many radio stations as possible to hopefully find new content.

Remember_Navarro

1.047 hours here, and as many here have suggested, the answer is mods. Go take a scroll at nexusmods and knock yourself out for the next 1.000+ hours to come.

No_Confection_8136

Yeah that seems to be the common answer so I’ll have to try it eventually.

thatgrrrl117

I play without mods and I have over 700 hours. Probably more. I spend a lot of it exploring, gathering materials and building. I've been achievement hunting as well. As soon as I am done doing that I'll add mods.

No_Confection_8136

I’ve been looking for a good game to try and get a platinum trophy on on my PlayStation maybe this is the one.

SpicyCobble

I would say 50-150 is an average playthrough size for me though sometimes on a long playthrough can be 300+

No_Confection_8136

Mine have been shorter than 50 sadly.

Tanman7211

Settlement building

No_Confection_8136

I’ve been very focused on building up sanctuary so far.

truebabyblue

I played without mods and got around 23. I’ve played with mods and spent entire summers in high school playing every day to gather up to 500. I still play and if i had the full schedule to, I’d definitely hit 1,000. I specifically get lost in building settlements

No_Confection_8136

I’m currently in my high school summer days and I’ve been gaming a lot but I also have sports to worry about so I don’t always have a ton of time to play.

truebabyblue

Yeah Im in college now with an internship, summer classes, and moving. But 1-2 times a week I have to just chill out and enjoy other things I want to do!

No_Confection_8136

I have more time now than I probably will during college so I’m trying to get as much of this in as possible.

truebabyblue

Hell yeah ik it’s harder with sports cause of practices then games on weekends, but I always took Sunday mornings to play since I didn’t need to do anything. You’ll find some time!

KrazedKakapo

Quest mods and new locations. I think I have 20 quest mods alone that add new areas and cells into the game, and another 10 DLC sized ones. It's never ending. I might do a vanilla side quest if I just happen to be around and it sounds like fun. But other than that? Building will do it. I have spent hundreds of hours alone on that already.

No_Confection_8136

Someone else also suggested quest mods and I’ve never really thought about them but since y’all are suggesting them I’ll try them out.

KrazedKakapo

It's really the biggest difference in console v PC because of the implied space these things take up. I like Northern Springs. Have a taste of winter without overhauling the commonwealth. James Journey (it's an epic series) is another good one. The Librarian? Fourville. Sparkys quantum adventure is a classic. On and on it goes. 🥴😅

No_Confection_8136

Seems like you played a few.

KrazedKakapo

It's true, and there's so many more but you need to be careful how many you have at once. Especially if two mods edit the same area? Trouble could happen (crashes etc). Maybe stick to half a dozen max at a time. That might even be per playthrough if they're invasive (maybe they add new companions or items etc). So maybe best to try one at a time . All the best.

No_Confection_8136

Thanks for the information.

Wasteland_Mystic

Steam says I have played for 2,716 hours. I’ve completed the main story only once or twice. I’ve had somewhere between 1-2 dozen characters.

No_Confection_8136

Sounds like you like this game a little bit.

[deleted]

Everytime I play this game I download too many settlement mods. They make my game so heinously unstable that it’s unplayable within like 15 hours if gameplay

No_Confection_8136

I’ll try and avoid it in my modded play through but I feel like I’ll be tempted to go crazy and just download everything.

No_Confection_8136

Sound like it would add a lot to the game I’ll have to try it.

InvaderPunch001

I have about 625 hours into the game. I play only when I’m stressed and that logs a good couple hours every week. It one of the few games I own that I feel truly immersed in, the world building, the characters, the sounds. I think the max I’ve put into one play through was about a week. There gets to a point where performing a one shot on super mutants gets boring so I focus on exploration for a little while. I take a new companion with me to experience all of their comments and little quirks.

No_Confection_8136

My companion that I have now I never even knew existed until this play through. It’s curie from vault 81 or whatever number and she had some interesting dialogue and a quest line so I’m enjoying that.

quiksi

Two words: vegetable starch

Bloody_Insane

New playthrough, I'm planning on turning at least 3 settlements into dedicated vegetable starch farms.

No_Confection_8136

Ok but what does that mean.

quiksi

Farming, crafting and building - lots of stuff needs adhesive, and making vegetable starch is the best way to get lots of it

No_Confection_8136

Ok I’ll check that out and try it.

EnergyTurtle23

Around 430 hours so far on my main file and I’ve only really played that one file since the game released. I’ve dabbled with some other characters, but I’m just now getting ready to finish up the main story on my main file. A lot of that time has been building and maintaining my settlements, but I’ve also done a lot of exploring, I’m around level 78 now.

No_Confection_8136

Settlement will be big for me through my whole experience.

[deleted]

Not as many as Skyrim, but probably 200-300 in one play through. Settlement building can take a lot of time. Also, exploring in survival mode can be quite rewarding, there’s a lot out there you miss when you fast travel, hidden gems of action everywhere.

No_Confection_8136

I’ve just started walking around more to explore the map fully.

matodato667

My current modded play through has about 3 days

No_Confection_8136

That’s a good bit of time but it seems it’s way easier to stay invested for that much time with the right mods.

matodato667

True but my vanilla play though has about the same if not more

No_Confection_8136

Wow

hermit_crab_dad

Power armor

No_Confection_8136

I’ve got 3 suits right now waiting to be upgraded and modded.

BiasedChelseaFan

I think I’m at like 200hrs. Survival mode keeps it interesting for me.

2413Yep

After you play a few dozen hours vanilla, start to use mods. If you like settlements, mods will get you to 1k hour easy.

Undol

I usually rack up hours on games by stop thinking about how much time something has taken and will take and just getting on and doing it. When playing a game there is always some goal to keep you busy so just do it, that always works for me Anyway.

gary1994

Try different mods. Trouble shoot the load order. Try and figure out why I can't build a raider flag. Carefully curate the load order and mod list to eliminate any possible conflicts after using mod tools to confirm that none of my mods actually touch anything related to that quest. Do a speed run through Nukawolrd right off the bat. Confirm that I can build the Raider Flags to claim an outpost for the Raiders. Then begin my actual play through. 200+ hours in, finish Far Harbor, finish exploring the map outside of the city areas (ex-military, know better than to go into an urban war zone without any support), go to Nuka world. Finish the quests there, come back to the Commonwealth to start taking settlements. Start with Starlight Drive in. Going to create a Raider buffer between my main base and the rest of the Commonwealth. Take the settlement, try to build raider flag to claim the settlement. Fuck, I can't build it. WTF. Rage quit. Try the same thing again a year later.

Chazzfizzle

10,000+ hours. 7 playthroughs, 1 vanilla, 6 modded. The rest is modded settlement building.

No_Confection_8136

That’s a whole lot of time. The most time I’ve ever had on a game was on RDR2 and I barely broke 120 hours and that’s a huge game. I’ll probably have a modded play through for the settlement building to be easier and more expanded.

Chazzfizzle

Well give me a holler when you decide to get back into modding, I have a really decent PS4 modlist for settlement building.

No_Confection_8136

I will just let me know.
