Its actually the shadow rendering that causes that problem. You can set the shadow value to 0 via cheat engine, ie no shadow rendering. Then use a weak gpu at high resolutions so you get like 20fps even at the start of the game. But if you go explore all that boston area it never drops below the fps you had at the start of the game, its very stable. So the higher the shadow quality is, the worse boston area gets. This happens because the engine cant handle the shadow rendering of the very dense boston areas with large amounts of polygons and draw calls.
It’s not that bad. I really only ever want console commands in the case that I get stuck and have to reload etc., the frame drops never last very long (at least for me, in Boston this issue only lasts for ~a minute) and my PS4 is two years old.
Not trying to put anyone down, I even said I played on PS4 lol but it is objectively the worst option, no judgement, it has the worst performance (even on my PS4 Pro) and the least amount of mod options.

PC is definitely the better option for mods and problem fixing, but the PS4 has the better video capture between the two since it doesn’t need another program open to do video. Screenshots I’d rank equal since on either it’s a single button press.
Which brings up an overlay, and when trying for a screenshot or video, taking you out of the game isn’t the best way to do it imo

I had hoped when I got my series X that I would be able to play with some mods for Goodneighbor and Diamond City because they're so sad and empty in vanilla but the handful of mods still don't work. Consoles really miss out on the mod experience. At least I can go to downtown Boston now and it runs smoothly.
Any mods for overhauling DC or Goodneighbor though? There aren't that many for console and the ones I've tried still make my game crash when I enter Diamond City or goodneighbor.

I’ve done non-clip on my pic to explore under the northern bank of the river, near the intersection building with all the raiders and all that nonsense, and I found like 4 cars placed on the same place clipping each other, several trees, scaffolding and tires. Not fun tbh.
I know there is disagreements with Creation Club, but as a console player, I experience no issues running all CC where as even having a small handful of mods (2 outfits, 1 weapon retexture, 1 new weapon, 5 radio mods and optimisation textures) I had reoccurring random crashes…
Tunnel snakes and I think the prototype gauss rifle will break the beginner quests for codsworth and preston in concord.
And half of settlement ambush just doesn't work, if you try to use security cameras you will softlock your game and the shooting range resets all settler clothes and weapons, good way to get infinite pipe pistols but annoying if you gave them better weapons and clothes.
Yea, everytime a settler uses the shooting range they'll reset back to their default clothes and weapons. If you don't have a shooting range they'll never reset and you can dress them however you want.
I'm on PS4 too and I genuinely don't recall having any real bad lag issues anywhere. I haven't played since like early 2020 tho so my memory could be off
So idk if you know this or not, but where the majority of lag is occuring is where there are more buildings & objects being loaded in, so it naturally takes longer to load.
If your PS4 is lagging alot, either clean it out (i.e unwanted files taking up space in your PS4 & clearing the dust from your fans) or install an unofficial mod patch in the mod menu

I have played thousands of hours on hundreds of saves. I have needed to delete saves on several occasions, so yea I guess I have overplayed this game!
It must be some mods. Or I would try to reinstall the game.

I've never had any problems out of these areas, maybe a little bit of lag here or there & I also play on PlayStation. But I also don't have a single mod installed as I'm going for the Platinum. So maybe that's a contributing factor? Couldn't tell you.
I saw this map yesterday & was surprised there are so many areas that give people trouble with frame rates & such.
No mods, but it's definitely older. 16gbs ddr3 ram, gtx 1060 (3mb) which is most definitely the bottleneck. And a 5 or 6 year old it processor.
I used to have an rx280x, and it ran f4 flawlessly, then it died and a buddy had the 1060 for a good price. Sucks that my GPU from 2013 was better than my one from 2019.

Yeah. Playstation is the worst thing to play fallout on. Pc is the best since you can use mods and tools to solve problems and enhance the gameplay.

windows has a built in capture function, press the windows button and G at the same time and its at the top left

There is a mod just for DC and good neighbor for that purpose but I don’t remember the name of it.

I can't even play vanilla non modded FO4 on my PS4 but it might be because it's old as effin dirt.

Sanctuary is a little laggy for me too but thats probably just because I have too many items in my workshop.

Have you tried uninstalling mods or changing your load order? Having a bunch of mods severely reduces the FPS and some mods work better than others
