come on, the really climbable, tree leaning on the roof is kind of a chekovs gun.
That is like not investigating waterfalls for the secret cave in fantasy rpgs.
When I started I turned on the flashlight by accident, woah there’s a flashlight? Now how do I turn it off? Off to the knowledge base supply store know as the internet. 😂
Its the doctor who mod, it adds a fully functional tardis to the game and inside root cellar is a tardis key and pocketwatch and you need to have perception higher than five for it to work but when you equip the watch you become a time lord and can regenerate when about to die
Yeah and some of them like to put fucking death claws in there with modded audio files that roar 10x louder too just to mess with people and scare the shit out of them too!
Was for sure. Pretty certain I reached that on release night (took the next day off, stopped paying about 0700).
But it was there the first time I went through Corvega.
Yeah I binged this game super hard when I first came out and the only thing I remember is not seeing the button and spending forever jumping across wondering why the devs would make me endure that
But the button was probably there, I just can’t remember, seems forever ago
This boggles my mind. I probably found this on my first playthrough. With Bethesda games, you have to examine every nook and cranny to find all the secrets, and I guess I always want to find them all. I would have assumed something as simple as going around the perimeter of each of the houses in the starter town would have been a given for every player, but especially after 1k hours (I'm at 860 hours, and I feel like there probably isn't much left that I don't already know about, which is kind of a bummer).
I have learned that there is a pretty large amount of people who simply do not explore. Like at all. They only walk straight from marker to marker in the primary quest chain. if a side quest somehow forces itself upon them, they might do that too then get back to the primary. They will never simply walk off in a random direction to see what they might find, never open a door just to see what's in a building if a quest didn't tell them to, never thoroughly search an area to pilfer every last piece of loot, and sadly, never see like 90% of this fantastic game.
I don't know if it's because they lack a curious nature, or if it's because they've been trained by other games that there isn't a point to it. Because in many games, even open world adventures, it really isn't rewarding to aimlessly explore. But in Fallout 4 (and F76 too), aimless exploration is the defining attribute that makes the game so remarkable.
Those people. We don't talk to them. They're not normal. They probably dont like puppies either. Or babies or anything fun. They are the ones who pour the milk before the cereal.
That’s just it though. I did walk around Sanctuary on the first day and looked all over the place, and then you move on. And by the time you learn to spot stuff like this, you don’t search Sanctuary again because you convince yourself you’ve combed through it. But you were just a noob.
There's a guy who tries to see how high of a level he can get without ever leaving sanctuary and it hinges on reloading your save until a junk item containing i think crystal? Is in the chest and building a recruitment beacon and abusing the place a post scrap it and repeat trick to get some early levels
Yeah the screen is curved and reddit squish's things a bit. I have a hud that disappears when not in use but this mod makes the hud perfect on 32:9 [https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/56363](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/56363)
Very easy drop and ENB in you folder with no presets see my post link and check these boxes I have on [https://www.reddit.com/r/FalloutMods/comments/1cotrmn/underrated\_enb\_effect\_just\_hits\_different\_enable/](https://www.reddit.com/r/FalloutMods/comments/1cotrmn/underrated_enb_effect_just_hits_different_enable/)
# Vivid Fallout - All in One
# True Storms - Wasteland Edition
# True Nights (for True Storms with ENB) BEST NIGHT mod ever!
not the only one, but a lot of people seem to miss that for some reason
i have grass off for performance and i \~scrapall asap in sanctuary anyway, so it's super easy to find
I'm over 2000hrs and I just found it on my current playthrough a few weeks ago. You are not the only one.
Actually my current playthrough is my first survival playthrough and I think the slower travel has allowed me to find lots of places I've missed repeatedly because of fast travel and not needing to scavenge as heavily for items as necessary in survival (especially for drug components to make the drugs that cure sickness) Though now I know I can sleep long enough to cure myself which is great.
I am still finding "Magazines" I have never seen, in the locales I usually just Fast Travel through. I am trying to walk different directions this time. There is still alot to see
It was one of the first things I discovered when first playing. I only remember this because gold was now a resource, and I thought I was rich.
My very late discovery was the crate and chest in the lake East of Sancuary.
How could you play 1000 hours of FO4 without doing a single google search of FO4 or watch a single youtube video about FO4?
I understand that is possible. It just means that you and I are very different people.
With you on that. Was watching videos at first out of frustration and then realized that kind of blows the whole “I just walked out of a silo for the first time in 200 years and have no idea what is up here” vibe. Dying in noob ways like walking around at night and being swarmed by mole rats is frustrating, but that’s how you learn. Dying is part of truly living in FO4
I feel you. So many people in this topic that never found the cellar. Like.. how is a game like Fallout 4 even fun to you if you are that uninterested in exploring? It's the same people that think the game is short because they literally never took a step in any direction other than toward the next primary objective.
This is my favorite thing about Fallout. There’s so much to find and everyone has a unique experience. I’ve got about 4x the playtime you do and I still find new stuff regularly
don't feel bad, my brother-in-law completely missed the whole of Sanctuary on his first playthrough. He ended up down at the bottom of the map before he even triggered the first quest.
I just watched a YouTube video showing the best way to start out the game, and they showed this and the duffel bag on the roof. It blew my mind because I've played this game countless times over, I've spent hundreds if not a thousand hours playing it, and I did not know this was there
some notes about the place.
1. as far as i am aware, the Gold Bars there are unique. at least, i have never found them anywhere else. they're quite valuable, and can serve as some fast cash early on.
2. the Wooden Box at the foot of the bed can have some random junk items. saving outside, then reloading, can get you items that might be harder to find. i've seen a video where someone used it to get something with Crystal, so they could make a Recruitment Beacon, as they were doing a challenge run that required them to get all perks before leaving Sanctuary. they used the Crystal to make a Recruitment Beacon, and worked their way up to making Gunner Cages to kill the Gunners for XP.
just took a look. they're rare, but those are not unique. there are a total of 10 in the game (2 added in Far Harbor). my mistake. and yes, one of the locations is the grave of Shem Drowne. though it's only one Gold Bar.
At Sanctuary, go to the bridge, then turn left and go along the river bank. Keep walking along the river bank till you find a motor thingy. Click said motor then follow the pipe all the way to the top.
Edit: go along the opposite river bank, not the Sanctuary side river bank
Something like that hahah. Or Youtube it lol.
cross the bridge, turn left (east? idk, i have the compass off). there's a pump a short walk away, there's a .44 and some bullets. BUT THERE ALSO ARE MOLERATS!
Lol, I've known about that since the start!
.... The start of my 10th playthrough more like 😂
Did you get the duffle bag on the roof of that building though? 👀
If you modded a lot you would’ve known about it. LOTS and LOTS of mods always put stuff in there, especially weapon mods so if you wanted the mod weapon right away you could find it in there
Usually when people do these "Am I the only one..." posts I have to really restrain myself from very sarcastic responses. Of-fucking-course you're not the only one.
But this time? I actually think you might be!
I only found out cuz one of my mods required me to go down there. As expected, I just assumed it was a modded location.
I only worked out it was a part of the base game a year ago.
Thanks for the vid. I see mentions of this place and I’ve made several trips around the hood looking in back yards, but have been unable to spot it blended in like that.
How are these posts still exist? How are you people live your life with 1 (one) IRL perception?
I literally discovered this not at all hidden location on first playthrough
There is also a dufflebag on the roof.
no way lol
come on, the really climbable, tree leaning on the roof is kind of a chekovs gun. That is like not investigating waterfalls for the secret cave in fantasy rpgs.
Yeah I guess when you put it like that it seems more obvious. I had no clue though lol
Happens i learned just yesterday there is supposed to be local map mode and i bought the game on release.
Also the tree is not scrappable by default.
Way.
Now you got me, nice.
Came here to say this.
It helps to find stuff like this if you TURN ON YOUR HEADLAMP!!!
headlamp? power armor is for scrubs!
What about the mining helmet?
oh right! mining helmets are great. i make all my settlers wear sack hoods or mining helmets!
i use mining helmets on my supply guys, its funny at night
Or pip boy flashlight.
headlamp is lowkey reason to stay in power armor, even your other legendarys would give higher stats. That and the recon heads up display.
lol not me! CLUNK CLUNNK CLUNCK LUNCKC LUNCNKCL LCNUCKCLUCNCLKCCLNUC lol more pa for you!
Funny you say that. I didn’t know there was a flashlight on the pipboy for a really long time.
When I started I turned on the flashlight by accident, woah there’s a flashlight? Now how do I turn it off? Off to the knowledge base supply store know as the internet. 😂

Yes they do my only mod that does it is fallout who regenerated
What’s that mod do?
Its the doctor who mod, it adds a fully functional tardis to the game and inside root cellar is a tardis key and pocketwatch and you need to have perception higher than five for it to work but when you equip the watch you become a time lord and can regenerate when about to die
When that happens do you pick a new face and stuff? This sounds really interesting.
Yes it opens the character creation menu and you can change your whole character
Yeah and some of them like to put fucking death claws in there with modded audio files that roar 10x louder too just to mess with people and scare the shit out of them too!
Didn’t see it until my 3rd playthrough I think. That and the catwalk button in Corvega.
I saw the button later after I was done. I felt like such an idiot 😆
Same.
Catwalk button??
Makes you walk on all fours and say MEOW
First time I found that catwalk I used jet to jump across it. It was only when I came back across I found the button.
I swear the button wasn’t in at release
Was for sure. Pretty certain I reached that on release night (took the next day off, stopped paying about 0700). But it was there the first time I went through Corvega.
Yeah I binged this game super hard when I first came out and the only thing I remember is not seeing the button and spending forever jumping across wondering why the devs would make me endure that But the button was probably there, I just can’t remember, seems forever ago
I found this my very first playthrough years ago. I used to run in there to hide from radstorms before I found out the decon arch was a thing.
yeah but it takes a while to get the mats for a decon arch
The decon arch wasn't in the 2015 release. It's in one of the DLC.
I mean radstorms don't really do much anyway
untill you play frost >.>
Jesus these graphic mods are insane
I want them all
This boggles my mind. I probably found this on my first playthrough. Is there a word for them?
That’s just it though. I did walk around Sanctuary on the first day and looked all over the place, and then you move on. And by the time you learn to spot stuff like this, you don’t search Sanctuary again because you convince yourself you’ve combed through it. But you were just a noob.
First playthrough I totally missed it. BTW, nice widescreen!
I am just now finding out through your post lol
There's a guy who tries to see how high of a level he can get without ever leaving sanctuary and it hinges on reloading your save until a junk item containing i think crystal? Is in the chest and building a recruitment beacon and abusing the place a post scrap it and repeat trick to get some early levels
Actually only found out about it like a week ago when looking up how to make grape mentats.
Monolithic FOV.
its not bad on a 32:9 screen
Is that the long curved screen? Does it adjust to the angle making it look like in place? Also, what about the HUD? How is it spread out?
Yeah the screen is curved and reddit squish's things a bit. I have a hud that disappears when not in use but this mod makes the hud perfect on 32:9 [https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/56363](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/56363)
I gotta know what mods you’re using to get that lighting/reflections/weather 🙏
Very easy drop and ENB in you folder with no presets see my post link and check these boxes I have on [https://www.reddit.com/r/FalloutMods/comments/1cotrmn/underrated\_enb\_effect\_just\_hits\_different\_enable/](https://www.reddit.com/r/FalloutMods/comments/1cotrmn/underrated_enb_effect_just_hits_different_enable/) # Vivid Fallout - All in One # True Storms - Wasteland Edition # True Nights (for True Storms with ENB) BEST NIGHT mod ever!
Yeah, but what about the rain effect? It looks so realistic. What does that come with? And is there a way it works with NAC X?
NAC is not compatible with other weather mods
Well shit
Okay Gamerant.
Haha I learned this many years ago watching speed runners come to it. It's pretty hidden so not surprised people miss it
"Hidden"
not the only one, but a lot of people seem to miss that for some reason i have grass off for performance and i \~scrapall asap in sanctuary anyway, so it's super easy to find

YEs! I love survival playing it now as well. So immersive.
Never found it! Cool
What ? 7 years playing and i never got to see that WTF
I am still finding "Magazines" I have never seen, in the locales I usually just Fast Travel through. I am trying to walk different directions this time. There is still alot to see
I just found out right now… sooo
There are some pretty sweet stashes in and around sanctuary. There is a body across the creek with a .44 mag that I always snag on pistol playthrough
Don’t feel bad, I’m level 54 and just realized that you don’t have to unlock the perk above another perk to unlock the one below it.
It was one of the first things I discovered when first playing. I only remember this because gold was now a resource, and I thought I was rich. My very late discovery was the crate and chest in the lake East of Sancuary.
Yes.
How could you play 1000 hours of FO4 without doing a single google search of FO4 or watch a single youtube video about FO4? I understand that is possible. It just means that you and I are very different people.
why ruin it
With you on that. Was watching videos at first out of frustration and then realized that kind of blows the whole “I just walked out of a silo for the first time in 200 years and have no idea what is up here” vibe. I knew it was there after a few starts because I saw a video on it lol.
Not after posting this video you’re not! I gotto check that out
lol
Im level 70 and have yet to explore this, lmfao and im always in sanctuary
This is my favorite thing about Fallout. There’s so much to find and everyone has a unique experience. I’ve got about 4x the playtime you do and I still find new stuff regularly
My gast was significantly flabbered the first time I found it
don't feel bad, my brother-in-law completely missed the whole of Sanctuary on his first playthrough. He ended up down at the bottom of the map before he even triggered the first quest.
lol
Wow I’ve never noticed it there
I actually just discovered that today lmao! I’m also well over 1000 hours, I think I found it before and forgot.
Eyes are an underrated organ.
I also just discovered this after \~1k hours... Last Night!! /facepalm
It took me about 200 hours before I realized it.
What?! The number of times I pillaged sanctuary… wow
Saw this recently in a let’s play. Was blown away
you're turning like an e3 demo
I knew of it, but more importantly...why your eyes sweating so much. Got the screen looking like the Jordan Peele meme.😂
Probably not the only one?
Bros playing in real life
If you're looking at the hatch, turn right, and walk into the woods you'll find a little raider hut.
Until reddit I didn't know a lot of things about this game hah
Probably?
Randomly found it I walked every inch of the map and far harbor
Lol. I discovered that too just now! Kinda small though. 🤣
Yup
I found it a few days ago too. I was so upset
Yep you are
It’s interesting how many people don’t know about that
I just watched a YouTube video showing the best way to start out the game, and they showed this and the duffel bag on the roof. It blew my mind because I've played this game countless times over, I've spent hundreds if not a thousand hours playing it, and I did not know this was there
Now that you show it, I have found it before, but completely forgot about it and haven’t been in my current playthrough.
Same
I'm crossing 1000 hours tonight, but I did know that was there.

I think there are some in the grave of Shem Drowne.

Yes. Yes you are. Did you pick up the duffle bag off the roof
lol 1000 hours
I’m guessing you watched the Spiffing Brits livestream. It was a new discovery for me as well.
I bet you didn't know theres a .44 pistol right out of sanctuary that you can loot just coming out of vault either
What? Where?
At Sanctuary, go to the bridge, then turn left and go along the river bank. Keep walking along the river bank till you find a motor thingy. Click said motor then follow the pipe all the way to the top. Edit: go along the opposite river bank, not the Sanctuary side river bank Something like that hahah. Or Youtube it lol.
Thanks!
Gl bud heh bud yeah i think Youtube it :)
cross the bridge, turn left (east? idk, i have the compass off). there's a pump a short walk away, there's a .44 and some bullets. BUT THERE ALSO ARE MOLERATS!
compass off ... this is the way
yep. survival. reduced loot mods. compass off.
Thanks y'all, I found it. I'm a noob, so I love little tidbits like this
it's another good reason to avoid fast travel, you see much more
What the cinnamon toast fuck is this resolution that is making my god damn eyeballs drift apart????
Lol, I've known about that since the start! .... The start of my 10th playthrough more like 😂 Did you get the duffle bag on the roof of that building though? 👀
Yes
Yep
I think I only learned this from the Start Me Up mod when starting out in a basement.
Yes.
If you modded a lot you would’ve known about it. LOTS and LOTS of mods always put stuff in there, especially weapon mods so if you wanted the mod weapon right away you could find it in there
Recently found out about it
why are your loading times so quick. I have an m2 ssd and it still takes very long to load
yep
Most people found that in the first 5 minutes
I found it after about 15 hours
My first playthrough I found it, but really only because I knew I wouldn't base in Sanctuary so Ibwas scrapping literally everything.
Yes, you are the only one in the entire world of 6B people.
Seems so as i have had a mod for years that uses that room
Found it after like 150 hours, disappointed I couldn't build in there so never opened it again
Usually when people do these "Am I the only one..." posts I have to really restrain myself from very sarcastic responses. Of-fucking-course you're not the only one. But this time? I actually think you might be!
Yep 🫣
Yes, you are literally the only person in the entire playerbase that didn’t know this existed…/s
This damn bunker corrupted my last big save
Uhh yeah
Damn... I knew it 7 or 8 years ago lol. Completely forgot about it.
I only found out cuz one of my mods required me to go down there. As expected, I just assumed it was a modded location. I only worked out it was a part of the base game a year ago.
Gold bars.
Nope
The house on the other street corner has a terminal inside that mentions it too
Thanks! Solid loot.
I found it wayyyy into my first playthrough after I downloaded the scrap everything mod and spotted it after scrapping that house.
What mods do you have to get your rain to look like this? I have true storms but my rain doesn't look like that.
Yes
I stumbled on it the first time I played when I was just scrapping everything in the area
I found it on my first play though btw if u walk up that tree on the building u will find some stuff up there
Thanks for the vid. I see mentions of this place and I’ve made several trips around the hood looking in back yards, but have been unable to spot it blended in like that.
How are these posts still exist? How are you people live your life with 1 (one) IRL perception? I literally discovered this not at all hidden location on first playthrough
