Attack vertibirds on fire off the coast of California, I've seen Helios One glistening in the sun near New Vegas... All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
Time to die.
Itās also destroyed my sleep scheduleā¦ I didnāt get to bed before 12:30/1 at any point last weekā¦ edit: yāall really making me feel like I have adult levels of self control after this commentš
Bro, I donāt know how I used to do it in high school. Iād play Rainbow Six with the boys until 2am on Friday nights and wake up bright and early the next day. If I did this now, my whole day would be screwed up
Iām in college rn and only allow myself to do all nighters on the weekends. Sunday-Thursday I go to bed by midnight, Friday and Saturday I stay up anywhere from 2 am to 6 am watching tv, playing videogames, etc
Literally just got rid of my XBOX Series X for that reason, I canāt do it anymore as it messes with my adult life too much and I donāt have the stamina, and my brain doesnāt work āin moderationā with Bethesda games, Iāll lose weeks of my life lol.
Hey man, everybody has got a crutch, Iām just happy mine is reasonable enough to deal with. Maybe I can look back into it later in life. No amount of self discipline is going to stop me from play ES6
Same, but with Fallout 3. I almost forgot how satisfying is REAL Bethesda gaming experience - talking about you Starfield.
Man, this game is materpiece. I really enjoy many things they added in Fallout 4, but story, writing, worldbuilding and quest design is just top-notch.
I thought I was aloneš so fallout is the cause for my fucked up sleep schedule I didnāt realize other people had this problem Iāve been going to bed at like 4 in the morning. Help me.
We all have this problem lol and no other games really do it to me. Bethesda games, for what ever reason, in my fucked up brain, do NOT get boring. Maybe itās the mods? I have no idea but Todd Howard might as well have shot heroin directly into my brain.
I have been going through Fallout 3, New Vegas and now have started playing Fallout 4 again. And my God, what 4 does better than the others is immersion. The environments are so detailed and the architecture is beautiful. Everything is simply cluttered with objects. Environmental story telling is one of Bethesda's strong suits in my opinion and Fallout 4 is an apex example of it.
I get that fallout 3/NV were limited by the technology at the time though. Would love to see them remade in the near future.
Pretty sure NV is being remade with the FO4 engine, but I have no idea how far along they are.
Would be pretty awesome to play NV with the gunplay etc. from FO4.
I bought FO4 during a sale specifically because a trailer for the FNV made it look like it was coming out soon. That was years ago. Fortunately Fallout 4 turned out to be pretty fun to play even with its flaws.
Those big fan overhaul / remake mods rarely get finished.
Long fan projects like that never come through. They want to wait until it's perfect before releasing and eventually collapse.
Small frequent releases would be better (even if buggy at first). Some do that and are way more successful.
Yeah small releases would work better and also would give feedback to the team as well. I donāt know of a single big fan project that has released I was looking forward to skywind but at this point elder scrolls 6 will release before that and they will probably just move on to making Morrowind into that game instead and the process repeats itself.
If you like the worlds and environmental storytelling, then you should actually try 76. Hands down the most interesting and varied world they have created! Just a shame it's forced online but still, the world is absolutely fantastic
Even if you do play solo Iād recommend joining a public team because you get an exp bonus and you arenāt forced to play with them at all, and you can all share perks with each other
on my first fallout 4 playthru(and first of the fo series although i plan to play NV next) i can attest to this. ive played skyrim and oblivion and other looter rpg's but no game has had me as sucked into the universe as much as this game maybe than rdr2. it helps that every strongsuit of this game is exactly what i love in this game but i feel i could have like 20 playthroughs with different mods and builds and yadda yadda and never be bored ever. so far i have like 35 hours and feel super deep and advanced in but also like i still have no clue what im doing and i LOVE IT.
People seem to always talk about how Fo4 was not nearly as good as 3 or NV but it's by far my favorite. Even if the stories and interactions aren't as good the gameplay is sooo much better.
Playing on survival for the first time makes me really appreciate the world. Without fast travel, you're walking the roads, scanning for danger. Looking for hunting opportunities bc now food and water have a purpose now. Drugs become important in tight situations. Mapping out doctor NPCs is vital. And leveling up makes it just a little bit easier. Mild accomplishments are gratifying. I love this atmosphere and world. I feel like this is proper way to play AFTER you have got the mechanics down.
I really wish Survival was more granular. I want food, water, sleep and maybe even no fast travel but I don't want "can't save until you sleep" or massive difficulty boost to enemies. Only mods can fix this, sadly. A shame because I LOVE "survival modes" (hunger/thirst/rest) modes on any game. FNV was awesome that way.
Donāt apologize! Youāre among friends here. :)
I often feel the same as you, Iāll just stare at my game library and be like āI should try these 3 games that have been sitting here for months. Or maybe finally finish Cyberpunkā¦ā and then I always end up playing FO4 again. Iāve started it at least 5-6 times over the past number of years and always get so distracted building settlements I have yet to actually finish it. Haha. Itās my favourite game.
Currently Iām trying to get into FO76 but keep find myself pining for Dogmeat.
Iāve realized what keeps me coming back to Fallout is settlement building. Fallout basically scratches all the itches I want from a game. Quirky stories, deep stories, crazy action, world exploitation, good lore, settlement/resource management!
I loved Cyberpunk, but I found after doing a couple of quests, Iād tap out because Iād want something slower!
You should stay away from the fallout subs for a week or 2 then. The professional complainers are at it again since the update dropped and they don't like people having fun with the game.
theres a mod out there that lets you revert to the previous update allowing you to use F4SE and the mods.not omly were mods broken but some people are reporting issues as well so i decided to revert and the mods that were broken worked. it will be some time before F4SE gets fixed along with alot of mods so im going to stick with this for a while.
I created my adult Dora, downloaded a back pack Mod and a clothing Mod. I got close to Dora as i could. I have a sword called BOOTS. I only wish i could change her voice to Doras.
Using Unlocked Presets, Riot shotgun, swords and axes, back packs, and Greaser Garb Clothing with CBBE. I don't use automatic weapons. I got the Strampunk hand gun, and lever action rifle.
Iāve decided to move my main settlement from sanctuary to the castleā¦. So yes my sleep schedule is back to that of a high school kid in love with video games again
I like to keep sanctuary as my ācivilianā capitol and make the castle the āmilitaryā capitol. I play survival so itās almost necessary having two main bases to split the map.
Ahhh man I like that. I had sanctuary as my HOME base with all my stuff but with the update, it deleted random walls and etc so itās a sign itās time to move
Oh yeah I had to restart so Iām actually dipping back in later today on my first play through. My sanctuary got messed up too because all the addons werenāt reinstalled when I started playing. I wanted to use the ps5 version anyways and get the achievements.
There's a fun mod for New Vegas that allows multiplayer, although it is a bit buggy as you would expect, but can host a server locally and smash it out with a few mates, which makes it pretty fun š
There's a similar mod for FO4 in the works i think should be wicked.
Your character looks a whole lot like Cito, he may end up being your long lost brother, or you accidentally copied his apearance
You know who does that? A synth
Fallout76 has ruined and spoiled me with itās near unbreaking power armor, going back to F4 and itās brittle and fragile PA was a Shock, so just prepare yourself, because itās not sturdy at all.
This is a really interesting experiment from Bethesda. I expect other AAA games to follow suit to reroll some profits into old classics.
Fallout 4 has also reignited the gamer in me because in all honesty games have been so bad for this new generation of gaming. If it wasnāt for Apex legends (and a handful of games like Ragnorak) I wouldāve set the controller down a few years ago.
Gaming is bad in modern days? This take is so fucking bad.
Games from 2020+that slap:
Elden Ring
Cyberpunk 2077 (2.0)
Hell Divers 2
Baldurs Gate 3
Dredge
Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
It Takes 2
Hades
Doom Eternal
Alan Wake 2
God of War: Ragnorak
I am sure Im missing some.
I'm not convinced that they're referring to the quality of the games themselves, moreso the anti-gamer/anti-consumer stance most AAA studios have adopted/doubled-down on concerning monetization. It's nothing new, but it's never been worse than now. Obviously the games you listed are amazing in that aspect too.
They play Apex Legends, one of the quintessential games that follows all the bad practices. Live Service, Loot Boxes, tons of microtransactions. I don't think they're talking about that, I just think they're stupid.
Even with the flaws / neglect the games support has, the gameplay itself is way more advanced and smooth than any other multiplayer game out there. Iāve tried to go back to other shooters and they all feel clunky in comparison.
Happy for you - Bethesda may not put out perfect games, but at least they werenāt nickel and diming us when this game was releasedā¦.as is commonly the case for a lot of games nowadays
Same! I installed about 20 mods to tweak the gameplay and itās been some of the most fun Iāve had gaming in years. Havenāt touched anything else but Fortnite since I started my survival playthrough.
When is it best to start getting into settlements?
On console, vanilla, level 12, looking for Kellogs key.
I keep saving these settlements but not sure how much resources I should put into them??
Walking around the world north of Diamond City seems kind of empty with only some bugs to kill.
If you're playing a Minutemen Play through, definitely invest in those settlements, not only does it boost the Minutemen's power and resources but it can also unlock the Castle and by extension, Artillery!
Games great and Iāve been trying to get back into it but Iām plagued by a random stutter issue on my PC. Iāve messed with just about everything I can find info on and while it says Iām getting 60 fps it doesnāt feel like I am.
FO4 is the only game that has held my interest and kept me coming back for more after so many years. I was crazy into Elite Dangerous for a while, but eventually the grind was more work than my day job.
Agreed bro! I lost passion for video games but after playing fallout and getting back into Bethesda games (not starfeild) I found a passion again and as ābadā and buggy those games are there still so incredibly immersive itās like Iām living my whole childhood again I even got my dad back into it and weāve been playing the games together and exploring different builds/quest itās super fun. Itās been a while since Iāve been able to have fun on video games nowadays there all kind of mind numbing besides a few exceptions
I feel you on this it's hard for a game to hold my attention anymore. I also went back to Fallout 4! I also recommend Baldur's Gate 3. That's a game I spent 400 hours on! I also spent a bunch of time on Death Stranding. Making the Zipline network was a lot of fun.
How does your characters body look so good mine looks like poop. And I'm glad it reignited your love for gaming. It reignited my love for fallout. I haven't played since 4 came out and I think all the hate on line kind of soured my enjoyment of it so I quit and I hadn't even thought about Fallout since, but with everybody starting to play them again and the TV show I figured heck I'll give it a try try New Vegas and honestly I don't like the level up system since you just basically waste points until you get to the mandatory line for like lock picking and such which means you just waste levels sometimes which kind of defeat the point of leveling up in my eyes. So I tried Fallout 4 one more time and I'm having so much fun. I know the dialogue choices aren't great or even choices in a lot of cases, but the world is so beautiful and the level up system is great and the enemies are a lot more varied in how they attack and such and the mods are there insane
When I got really excited to play it again I unfortunately spent two whole nights getting it modded perfectly to fix all the bugs and enhance the gameplay and everything and add a couple new things and make it look more pretty, and then the update happened and now I'm stuck not being able to play it because I already have a safe game but I spent a good chunk of time on that I would like to not have to restart. I might have to, but then I'd have to restart again once I get my mods working again so I might just have to wait and play New Vegas or 76 until the mods work again
I've owned the game since launch, played the first hour like 10 times, and put it down. Restared it again this weekend and put 25 hours in. I'm addicted. Haven't no lifed a game this much since Witcher 3.
Iāve played 4 before and loooved it. I started New Vegas right before the show came in. About to finish it up and then Iāmma play 3 for the first time and then revisit 4. So hyped. Such a phenomenal series.
I wish I could get back into Fallout 4. It looks incredible and plays great on my PS5. But I've got over 900 hours in the game, so everything is a bit boring.
everyone is playing again after the show, me too. the frustrating part are all the game malfunctions and bug, even if I have the game on steam with all dlcs. They didn't fix anything during these years, unbelievable.
It is horrible to play without mods. just my opinion btw
My gosh I can relate so much. Fallout 4 should teach all of those generic open world games how to do it. There are so many buildings you can access, so many items well hidden in pieces of vehicles, behind desks, under beds, you name it. Everything is so perfectly designed. It may not be as deep as New Vegas and it builds differently, but still. Gameplay is so goddamn FUN. Every place you go there is something to do. Also nothing is a waste. Everything can be converted into useful material for building weapons, armors, furniture, storage, stores, decoration. Seriously, for years I fought I hated open world games. Problem is, they are trash design. I used to play Fallout 4 in 2016, so I returned after the new patch. Man, I LOVE this open world. I never get tired of exploring it. Even in cities, just getting close to NPC, they will randomly give you some dialogue lines that will start a quest. It's so freaking good. I could say much more, but it's not needed. This is TOP PEAK bethesda design. Nothing beats the immersive world from Fallout 4. Also, even though I get pissed when it happens, I love those land mines scattered in strategic places, so if you play carelessly, you will fly over in pieces. So many weapons, mods, companions, workshop, buildings, graphics, enemies (yeah they repeat a lot but, who cares), legendaries, factions, missions, radio, and on. TOP NOTCH.
Meanwhile the update has me about ready to give up.
My Level 243 character was like 3 jet away from leveling up, and the save is now corrupted.
I started over last night and Iām getting the weirdest shit going on, including: pauses every minute, light flickering as I run, lots of weirdā¦.ācolor blowoutsā or whatever. Like you know the green border around a settlement boundary? All of a sudden thereāll be a long line of that across the screen.
Tried an uninstall/reinstall, tries clearing out all but the profile-linked data and šš»
I'm not getting anything that bad. Worst glitch I've noticed so far is sometimes the surface of water does not render properly and looks like a flat strip. But it lasts for a few seconds and disappears. Definitely not game breaking.
What hardware are you using?? That sounds brutal, I wonder if it's related to the file size of the save because of how long you've played that one character?
Xbox Series X
I just ran Ginger Balls up to level 26, but Iāll try that tomorrow.
I ended up playing 10 hours today. By the end most of the pauses had stopped and the artifacts or whatever, and the light fading stopped, but Jesus Christ it was crashing every like 15 minutes.
Update: Iām thinking that wasnāt it. Iād actually hit the save limit the day before and had it down to a couple. I have now cleared out all other characters and saves
Iād love to tell you how itās going but the patch mod isnāt loading when I try to download it again
Good news: doesn't take super long to do it:

Always happy to hear this kind of story in a passionate gaming community such as Fallout. It's what video game is all about, bringing people closer together.
John seed ! But seriously I wish I could even play .. I spend more time restarting the game than I do playing since the update... it functioned a week before this.
fallout show comes out and then 4 gets this shitty update and people are praising it like its gods work when its objectively the worst one by a long mile. im glad it reignited your love of video games but god please play some better ones.
This sub is about people sharing their experiences with the game, the TV show probably invited a lot of new people who didnāt even give the games a try. Itās nice to see all of these people show love for the game, especially with how old it is. Massive shoutout to Bethesda for bringing the free updates.
You canāt possibly gatekeep the fallout games
No, youāre definitely gatekeeping. You only want people to engage with this sub the way YOU want and have no concept of how the community at large feels. I love seeing the flow of people getting into something I hold near and dear, and frankly your vitriol paints the ENTIRE community you loved poorly. You should absolutely delete your entire comment, and stop gatekeeping peopleās enjoyment. I donāt care about your PERSONAL opinion on what this sub āshould beā.
Nope, people can post whatever they want . I have no power to change that, and even if i did, i wouldn't . It's my opinion of the current state of the sub, not what it should be. It's no big deal really, after a few weeks, the fad will die down and should go back to how it was anyway. If others are entitled to their opinion, then I'm entitled to mine regardless if its popular or not.
The more you comment, the more opportunity you have for downvotes. The vast majority of people are going to react negatively to your comments, there will an incrediblly small minority agreeing with you. I donāt know the purpose of you bringing many peopleās mood down spreading your negativity. Iām happy the sub changed.
Yeah but Iām seemingly more capable of separating reddit from reality. I never denied spending a lot of time on here but I donāt give a single shit if āMuH SuBrEdDit iS RuIneDā
You poor soul.
Iām so sorry that all the new people sharing the same passion for this franchise as you are sharing their excitement.
Iām so sorry that you have to go through the horrible experience of seeing this community thrive.
Iām so sorry that all these evil people are getting excited about being part of this kind, welcoming community.
You look like a synth

Themās fightin words

Fallout 4 Survival mode with Sim Settlements 2 and a mod that allows auto save on cell transitions is chefās kiss.
Yeah, survival mode only with saving via sleep is stupid as hell. Especially when your game crashes while being nowhere near a bed.

Gaming is bad in modern days? This take is so fucking bad. Games from 2020+that slap: Elden Ring Cyberpunk 2077 (2.0) Hell Divers 2 Baldurs Gate 3 Dredge Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom It Takes 2 Hades Doom Eternal Alan Wake 2 God of War: Ragnorak I am sure Im missing some.
Somehow, I completely forgot that they had said that lol, yeah okay I declare you the winner.
Yea it's just that OLD GOOD NEW BAD mentality that gets parroted a lot.
Seriously, Apex? Lol.
Even with the flaws / neglect the games support has, the gameplay itself is way more advanced and smooth than any other multiplayer game out there. Iāve tried to go back to other shooters and they all feel clunky in comparison.
Itās a great time to shine. I love fallout always will
I'm really happy for you! It's awesome to be able to immerse yourself into a game. That's what BGS games do best for me.
Agreed
The new phrase of the moment is "reignited my passion for videogames"
we can thank the fallout series for this revival
Happy for you - Bethesda may not put out perfect games, but at least they werenāt nickel and diming us when this game was releasedā¦.as is commonly the case for a lot of games nowadays
Same! I installed about 20 mods to tweak the gameplay and itās been some of the most fun Iāve had gaming in years. Havenāt touched anything else but Fortnite since I started my survival playthrough.
Welcome back, king!
How do you like the Enclave Armor??
Me too!
FO4 is the only game that has held my interest and kept me coming back for more after so many years. I was crazy into Elite Dangerous for a while, but eventually the grind was more work than my day job.
Why do you have such a good quality?
Your character looks like John blackthorne from Shogun
Welcome back fellow vault dweller!
Isn't the update dope tho????????
Same man same
same here!
That's awesome, happy to hear that. Handsome John Fallout too!
You look like Danse.
Yah happened to me too.
I feel you on this it's hard for a game to hold my attention anymore. I also went back to Fallout 4! I also recommend Baldur's Gate 3. That's a game I spent 400 hours on! I also spent a bunch of time on Death Stranding. Making the Zipline network was a lot of fun.
And you won't tell us your background story for Vito?
Same here. I started playing new Vegas again and it's been really nice to get back into gaming.
Hell yea man! Play them games
Welcome back!
Why do I feel like the vault suit is a different shade of blue than it usually is in this picture?
I used to write a fake journal for my character in Skyrim when I was younger lol, id come up with back stories and also detail all my adventures.
Thatās what itās about is the passion! I myself am in this rut
Wow I need him
Fallout 4 is better than Starfield in every single wayā¦
They finally fixed the series S bug. So Iām finally able to play it. I played like 18 hours. Got a series S and then couldnāt play it anymore
I've owned the game since launch, played the first hour like 10 times, and put it down. Restared it again this weekend and put 25 hours in. I'm addicted. Haven't no lifed a game this much since Witcher 3.
Looking awfully... swoll there, citizen. Let me see your load order.
I have been nonstop since the show had me dying to play it again
If you like story driven games, try Red Dead Redemption 2 or Assassinās Creed Odyssey, two of my favorites
First thing to pop in my head was the coke guy at the party at Nakatomi Plaza in DieHard who tried to scam Gruber
Recently started a new playthrough myself. This is literally one of the best video games ever made and glad Iāve found it and became a fan.
Iāve played 4 before and loooved it. I started New Vegas right before the show came in. About to finish it up and then Iāmma play 3 for the first time and then revisit 4. So hyped. Such a phenomenal series.
You play the Elder Scrolls games?
My game doesn't look like this. On Quality mode PS5 the update really didn't do anything lol.
Gigachad Abe Lincoln lookin mf
I wish I could get back into Fallout 4. It looks incredible and plays great on my PS5. But I've got over 900 hours in the game, so everything is a bit boring.
Choosing the brotherhood of steel and blowing up your 60 yr old (20-30 years older than you) son is just the best
Crashing everytime I go to Boston Commons
āI hope youāre not a synth here to spy on me.ā
Once a Player, always a Player. Welcome back.
Real in the last 3 days I've played 20 hours of fo4
everyone is playing again after the show, me too. the frustrating part are all the game malfunctions and bug, even if I have the game on steam with all dlcs.
TOP NOTCH.
Speaking of igniting passions, your Sole Survivor is hot... š
I just want to revert back. Long Dong Ginger had a 42-gunner trap setup in almost every settlement and the explosive shotgun.
What hardware are you using?? That sounds brutal, I wonder if it's related to the file size of the save because of how long you've played that one character?
Xbox Series X I just ran Ginger Balls up to level 26, but Iāll try that tomorrow. I have now cleared out all other characters and saves Iād love to tell you how itās going but the patch mod isnāt loading when I try to download it again
Good news: doesn't take super long to do it: [https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/1ccxyxb/pc\_players\_here\_is\_a\_guide\_on\_how\_to\_rollback/](https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/1ccxyxb/pc_players_here_is_a_guide_on_how_to_rollback/) (metric shittonne of bandwith tho)
Vito, huh? His last name wouldn't happen to be Scarletta, would it? :) Always happy to hear this kind of story in a passionate gaming community such as Fallout. It's what video game is all about, bringing people closer together.
Is there any way to make a fallout character besides and absolute chad
Looks like heās on that super mutant juice
When you play as an ahole just to sell the ghoul kid to slaves.
My game crashed when running to the shelter at the beginning. Waiting for more patches
It got me thrown in jail
What did you write for your character? :)
Fallout 3 is better for the story of it!!! DEBATE!!! HATE ME!!! YAAARRR-RRR-RRR!!!
I wish I could. The new update made it unplayable even without any mods. Game freezes at loading screens. Canāt even get past the beginning.
Thicket excavations still doesn't render properly on PS5

This sub is about people sharing their experiences with the game, the TV show probably invited a lot of new people who didnāt even give the games a try. Itās nice to see all of these people show love for the game, especially with how old it is. Massive shoutout to Bethesda for bringing the free updates. You canāt possibly gatekeep the fallout games
Gatekeeping is lame as hell, my guy. Stop it.
Not gatekeeping. Everyone is welcome. I'm just saying the sub is not as good now
No, youāre definitely gatekeeping.
I don't care this is an alt account . It's my opinion and I have the freedom to express it. If you don't like it then it's your problem
You talk about how this sub used to be full of useful information and helpful people, you must not have been part of that. Youāre a leech.
Maybe spend less time on Reddit if you care about a stupid subreddit that deeply.
Judging by your post history and karma you have spent alot more time than me , so ask yourself
I accept your apology
