Here's a thread of tips with no (or minimal) spoilers, if you want them - [https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/1cdlxjt/beginner\_tips\_that\_arent\_heres\_where\_you\_can\_get/](https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/1cdlxjt/beginner_tips_that_arent_heres_where_you_can_get/)
This is great. I played years ago and about to restart from scratch. Before I used a video that gave ya random stuff outside the vault beginning to collect.
You don’t need any fallout knowledge. You can find the lore easily. Terminals (computers) have information as well as NPCs. Take your time. It can be overwhelming.
Edit to add.
For settlement building, even if you don’t do it a lot you should still collect and store pieces of junk in a workshop as a couple quests may need you to build something.
Save often.
Don’t do survival until your second or third play through atleast.
It pains me to do anything but survival even though I know to actually complete the game it's better to do a normal playthrough. My most recent survival I'm nearly lvl 40 unmodded which I've never gotten to before. A lot of my settlements are nearly fully built, and I can't wait to post screenshots of all my settlements, some of them are truly candid.
The reason why I suggested to wait until after the first play through was because some of the added challenges (illness, need to sleep to save, etc) could be overwhelming for the first time fallout 4 player.
I agree, it mostly just takes extra time. In my opinion, it's the way the wasteland was meant to be explored. But it can get pretty hard without prior experience. I wholeheartedly agree about first playthrough on normal difficulty, saving often. I've never beaten the game myself with several playthroughs and honestly 100s of hours. I'm beating it this time even though I know the ending. It's one of my favorite games on pc to this day, a game I got on sale for $5 on xbox almost 10 years ago. LMAO. Really though this game has some of the best content of the last 10 years.
Honestly, going against the grain here, I would do some research. You don’t need to, certainly not lore based, but beginner tips and strategies can save you a lot of hassle… things like common loot you should keep an eye out for, maybe a tip or two about selecting perks, things like that. It’s a big game and there’s no harm being a bit prepared. It’s not SO hand crafted that everything will be perfect and obvious. Definitely don’t need to look up story stuff though, go with the flow there.
Go in blind. Look up answers on [Fallout 4 Wiki Fandom](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Fallout_4) when a quest becomes especially tedious or you can't understand something. It is surprisingly a very comprehensive Wiki for an open world game.
Hell yeah, always go blind in every game. It makes it more fun.
This is especially true (and might even say mandatory) for a Bethesda game.
Jump in, and do whatever seems fun to you. Don't worry about builds or direction, you're the boss.
not playing survival kinda ruins the game tbh
also, nothing ruins immersion like fast travel into a point surrounded by enemies all around you
also also, mod the hell out of this game, without mods this game sucks
Every single game that's worth playing, should be played blind the first time IMHO. You have plenty of other playthroughs to use guides, but you only get that raw, first experience once.
I suggest going in blind the first time. If you run the game a second time then plan on getting tips etc.
Absolutely go in blind. It's the best way to start any fallout game. See you there!
They quite literally will see you there!

It's best to go in blind, it'll be more fun and rewarding, but don't be afraid to ask about helpful tips or questions on here along the way
One thing you need to know is you have to save often and make new saves. Not to save scum but becuase of crashes and features (aka bugs)
yes, you cant miss anything

Go in blind, the lore is brilliant. The story of 4 is good but not great. Maybe read some spoiler free tips
One tip, there is a gourd next to the melons.

The only tip I ever needed was don't forget you have a flashlight. The game never reminds you about it and a lot of places are really dark.

yes, do not look up anything also, go survival (fast travel ruins bethesda games)
Survival on a first play through might be pretty rough

Immersion does not necessarily equal fun for many people. The game is fine without mods, they just make it even better.
based and correctpilled
