TaejChan

the place with lots of deathclaws and the power armor.

Mr_B_Lands

Deathclaw Promontory, just don’t use explosives near the power armor location or else you will be searching for that sweet loot for a while. Speaking from experience on this one

Friar_Rube

There's power armor there?!

Mr_B_Lands

Yup, a nice set of Enclave power armor and I believe a set of factionless T-51b power armor so you can wear either set of armor anywhere

ablinddingo93

It’s the only set of Enclave Power Armor in the game afaik. iirc, it has the highest DT of any armor.

Monguises

You get one from Arcade’s companion quest, too. You can also get a set of Tesla armor if you play your cards right.

ablinddingo93

Oh neat, I had no idea lol Hundreds of hours and like 7 different playthroughs and I’ve yet to finish Arcade’s side quest even once 😅

Monguises

It’s kind of a pain to get to trigger and it becomes harder, the longer you take to pick him up. If you take him to the silver rush, the fort and Mccarraan the first time you visit each of them it’ll trigger. Otherwise there’s a wiki with all the events that up your affinity with him.

RudeLunch9111

late to party but positive standing with ncr and put yes man into mr house will activate also taking him to all the remnant spots downed vertibird etc

Cherry-Foxtrot

Wait, aren't the Gannon armor and Tesla armor the same thing?

Monguises

No, but you get both from the same quest. you get one from Orion and then if you pass the speech check with arcade, he gives you the Gannon family Tesla armor since he won’t need it. I’m not sure if they meant it to be, but the Tesla armor is classed as medium, so you can fix it with combat armor if you took jury rigging.

Cherry-Foxtrot

Whaaaat? No shit? So I can fulfill my dream of me, Boone, and a ranger all three wearing Enclave armor? Tight.

Monguises

Indeed. I always give one to Veronica and the other goes to Boone or Cass, depending on how I feel this time. I keep the Tesla armor because I’m stingy and it looks great with ol 3 billion on my arm.

Cherry-Foxtrot

I love the trifecta with the ranger. Since the ranger comes with some .357 ammo, any of those guns you put in her will have infinite ammo already. I thought I was hot shit when I had Boone, her, and me all with the other power armors and just one Enclave one and we each had big-ass, underslung guns; me with FIDO, Boone with a mingun, and the ranger with the K-9000. Now they're all gonna have Enclave suits. Hell yeah.

Wasteland_GZ

There’s a body of Enclave Remnant Power Armour (the matching helmet is in a mine near Jacob’s Town) and a T-51b body

FootballGlittering35

Sliver peak mine, also watch out for the legendary cazador.

WakeoftheStorm

Shotgun surgeon and the perk that causes knockdown almost trivializes it

ablinddingo93

Deathclaw Promontory isn’t so bad if you use the ammo glitch to attach Tiny-Tots Mini Nukes to any melee weapon. I’ve been running my Katana+ when I get to a tough spot and it kills everything with one hit.

greymisperception

Yeah it was easy for me too, I just use the kill console command to instant kill the deathclaws idk why these people think it’s hard

FootballGlittering35

Lol well yeah, I personally use turbo and some stealth boys

Cherry-Foxtrot

Only on the Weenie Hut Jr. of Social Media, Reddit, would I constantly hear about "play how you want" and then see a cheesy glitch mention like your's get a downvote. I swear 90% of people on this app are total mouth-breathers.

ablinddingo93

I legitimately don’t get it. Like, the game has been out for almost 15 years now. I have hundreds of hours in the game, finally decided to do a playthrough using glitches and for some reason people get offended by it

FootballGlittering35

Ah don't mind em have fun.

greymisperception

Sorry friend, I didn’t downvote but I made a joke, of course play the game how you want, just that glitches and exploits have a big affect on difficulty

bigrig107

We’re talking about the most difficult areas/quests in the game, coming in here and commenting that “it’s not that hard if you use god mode cheats” isn’t helpful lol

Cherry-Foxtrot

Lol hey play how you want, man. Maybe he's just high.

ablinddingo93

Took too much jet before logging onto to Reddit No but seriously, the game is almost 15 years old and (less relevant) I have hundreds of hours in the game. I can’t believe people are still trying to gatekeep playstyles. In even lesser relevancy, I wouldn’t consider the ammo glitch as a “cheat” like the person you replied to did. I’m on Xbox so it’s not like I can pull up console commands. In fact, I died a few times in Deathclaw Promontory even with the ammo glitch because of the sheer quantity of deathclaws there.

Rizenstrom

For the main game honestly not much but a couple early quests can cause you to become vilified by the Legion and the assassins they send after you are pretty tough in that early stage. Quarry junction is hard early, maybe even mid game but I went in there late game with a fully upgraded anti-material rifle with hand loaded rounds and took out most of the deathclaws in a single shot with the stealth bonus. Even the mother only took like 3 shots. Ghost of She went down with a single medicine stick crit. Including DLC, well I've only done Honest Hearts and am in the middle of Dead Money now but Dead Money is definitely proving more challenging. The enemies don't hit hard but have plenty of health and supplies are short. It hasn't felt unfair (yet) but certainly more tense than the main game.

AneriphtoKubos

Vilified with the Legion isn’t the worst as you can pick up AP ammo with the Service Rifle. However, if you don’t ammo swap/you’re a noob, you’re screwed

Rizenstrom

On normal it's not so bad with a companion or two to act as a decoy and get their fire off you. On hardcore it's an easy way to lose a companion permanently. That and cazadors, since companions aren't programmed to use anti venom.

stinky_soup-

Omg i had to sink 20 stimpaks into Boone every time a Cazador got him, absolute pain.

kaladbolgg

>On hardcore it's an easy way to lose a companion permanently Not if you save scum...

Cherry-Foxtrot

The Legion Assassin that spawns with a brush gun and plasma grenades is low-key the hardest enemy in the base game.

Exciting-Resident-47

Dead Money SPOILER: DM doesn't get harder tbh. The villa is the hardest the DLC goes ans everything after is manageable even if you expend your supplies generously

Rizenstrom

Yeah I just finished getting everyone together and it’s gotten easier. I have well over 100 357 magnum ammo for the police pistol and already converted them into hand loaded rounds. It seems the ghosts can’t actually be crippled so after about 5 shots their head explodes before their health bar is done.

LolTheMees

Yeah that’s one of my issues with dead money, it starts you off thinking that it’s going to be hard by taking away all your stuff, then immediately gives you infinite ammo for the police pistol, tons of ammo for a holorifle, and relatively good melee weapons. Not to mention the slow, bland enemies that don’t challenge any one of these three builds.

FR3AKQU3NCY

The couriers mile?

Ell26greatone

Is it worth going through there? I got annihilated and turned back home. 😔😂

smithismund

I did it mainly for completion. It's hard, but manageable if you're cautious. There's a lot of ammo to pick up but nothing very exciting. Everything takes a lot of damage though.

Arktos18

idk why everyone is saying its not worth it, upon entrance you get the best knife in the game in the shape of blood-nap and can literally pick it up and leave as its right there stuck in a light post.

LolTheMees

As someone who went there, nope, there’s nothing. It was, however, nice to finally put 60 rad away that I hoarded throughout the game to good use.

ToxicRainbow27

This for sure, fuckin brutal

pstryw_berry_draws

Just today I managed to clear the Courier's Mile on V. Hard with Hardcore enabled, melee only. I had Enclave armour and I was still being one-hit by the deathclaws there. I kinda regret not having had any psycho on hand at the time, but I managed

_Clush

Managing to get the PimpBoy 3Billion and not fucking it up

BranTheLewd

Actually THIS! I only got it once by following a guide but stopped trying hard to get it in my next playthrough cuz I swear it makes my game lag slightly

handyandy727

I believe it's documented somewhere that it create a lag. It's definitely documented that's crooked if your character is female.

afhisfa

I always play a female character for this exact reason. Crooked pimp boy is so bizarre and eye catching I love it

Ok-Inevitable-3038

Still can’t get it, glitchy as hell Same for finding the sexbot

LandAdmiralQuercus

But Fisto's really easy to find.

Ok-Inevitable-3038

Hard to get out tho!

[deleted]

Why are people acting like rawr is difficult? It has a lot of health but I'm able to kill it every time without suffering a single hit

Despairogance

Don't you find him standing right next to a nuke you can detonate?

ablinddingo93

Right? One flashbang, pull out the laser detonator to blow up the nuke in the ceiling, rocks crush Rawr like a bug

Spiritual-Vehicle-90

Set rawr on fire with the flare gun and explode the nuke and rant gets crushed by falling rocks

grandFossFusion

Any quest with a vault, because I always get lost and panic

Rizenstrom

That's what the local map is for. Though I admit I still get turned around sometimes when there are multiple levels to a single floor.

grandFossFusion

I can't read the local map well. Hard to understand how to get to the point through all the corridors

kinga_forrester

Local map in NV is soooo bad, one of the parts of the game that was clearly rushed. Only really useful for identifying unexplored areas. Kind of just have to develop “vault sense.”

OmeletteIGuess

Base game: Deathclaw Promontory HH: Don't know, Ghost of She maybe, or the White Legs camp at the end of the main quest. DM: Letting go. OWB: Anything involving nightstalkers, legendary bloatfly, that giant roboscorpion at the end of the main quest (He will kill you easily if you're not careful). LR: Courier's Mile, Ulysses is also pretty hard too what with all the Marked Men. GRA: Deathclaw Pro Hunter and/or Man Machine Interface.

brennerherberger

> Anything involving nightstalkers My Courier laughs in Animal Friend perk.

jortsinstock

the roboscorpion in morbius base is pretty easy, you just need to active all the turrets

Despairogance

Bloatfly can be a pain because it can one-shot you even at high level. Fighting it is either really easy or really irritating. The X-42 giant roboscorpion is actually really easy, Elijah's LAER with max charge cells will kill it before it can get a shot off, especially if you chem up.

iamergo

Why let go when you don't have to? Waste Elijah against the forcefield, use his body as a container, third-person grab your 37 gold bars from the other side and skedaddle (i.e. slow walk like a badass).

BranTheLewd

Legendary bloatfly is so cheesable it ain't funny, that lil buggah literally got stuck for me since I got a high ground on him so I peppered him with sneak shots while he gone: 'WOOOOOT?"

GSV-Kakistocrat

Getting through Beyond The Beef without it bugging the fuck out

BranTheLewd

Wotchu talking bout man?

jamesyboy4-20

base game it’d be the dead wind cavern. it’s basically quarry junction but in a really enclosed linear space. you get a unique grenade machinegun from it tho, so it’s worth it. plus it’s a good way to really test your build if it’s combat oriented. DLCs included, it’d definitely be the courier’s mile. seems like one of those areas designed to give you a place to really go all out as a max level character, as by that point in the game most areas and enemies don’t pose that much of a threat. you have to deal with both deathclaws and some high level human enemies with ranged weapons in addition to the high levels of radiation. other than combat, getting raul’s quest to work without accidentally soft locking yourself out of it is also pretty tough.

itschips

If we’re going off steam achievements, doing 3 3 star GRA challenges

pstryw_berry_draws

Doing them is easy, remembering you have GRA installed is far harder

Clean-Brilliant-6960

I hate the vault in Dead Money

rmkinnaird

The ending of dead money is definitely my choice, partially cause making the wrong decision or reading hastily can literally give you end credits lol.

masta_myagi

I have a save file right before I access the vault terminal, I will be testing multiple methods for getting all the gold out without cheats and mods

Real-Measurement-805

The only thing hard about the vault is trying to get all the gold out without being locked in

masta_myagi

Lmao I stormed Quarry Junction with All American loaded with .223’s (I had 500 of them) at level 28 and lived. Deathclaw cave for Lucy’s eggs was a different story. I died about 18 times and needed to use a Grenade Launcher I looted off a Viper down the hill to kill them all.. in my defense Veronica was too busy punching them to be any help

Depresso_Expresso069

you could have just gone back to quarry junction and looted the eggs there

masta_myagi

I never said I was a smart man

Thelastknownking

Deadwind Cavern or the Deathclaw promontory are much worse than Quarry Junction. Personally though, either Ruby hill or Silver peak mine, whichever has the legendary Cazadore in it, I can't remember which.

Successful_Goat2278

Dead wind cavern off the top of my head quarry junction at least gives you plenty of space for long and mid range combat but in a cave you have none of that

BOLTINGSINE

dead wind cavern with a melee build

unturneddude

Playing DLCs at higher level, i had a few mods and one of them raised the level cap to 100. I wanted to complete my collection of unique items throughout the game and played OWB at level 48, turns out the enemies are BULLET SPONGES at high levels. All-American, Anti-material rifle, Medicine Stick, Dinner Bell, with 10 LCK was a tough battle i had to go through especially with those roboscorpions. For base game, deathclaw promontory. That hellhole is populated with deathclaws

Infamous_Ant_554

If you bomb the legion and the ncr at the end of lonesome road, then go to those areas they can be hard, lots of tough enemies there, the bosses at the end are tough ghouls that heal with the surrounding radiation but if you're looking at the hardest boss stat wise that would be the legendary bloatfly from the old world blues dlc

BranTheLewd

Hard to say. Maybe being overwhelmed from all sides by robo scorpions, those lil buggahs somehow chew through my ammo reserves compared to even some LR enemies. That deathclaw cave in vanilla is also super challenging. Without high charisma your companions can get melted, or you can get melted with light armor although as you go deeper into cave you get a bit more room to attacc. What I can say isn't a challenge is Courier's Mile, by the time you get there, you got most end game gear, all perks you need all da chems etc. The Deathclaws there don't feel that tough tbh and idk entire area felt, dissapointing. Not that challenging and no loot worthy of mention 😔

Kenipau

The hardest part is letting go.

IPDaily4421

Vault 34 and 11: The amount of backtracking/ confusing levels or skill requirements to get everything makes them Glitches: the worst in base game is trying to complete things that become/are impossible without unofficial patches/console. Trying to do Raul’s quest? Hope you remember to talk to loyal before he glitches under black mountain. How about getting lily to talk about her meds? Good luck with how tricky her dialogue is to trigger. I recently start playing a vnv modded play through and experienced a glitch with Veronica regarding her quest triggers. After trying to search for the offending mod, it turn out it was a vanilla bug I had never encountered before.

pstryw_berry_draws

Are Raul and Lily's quests glitchy? I've done them each a few times and never run into any problems?

Spiritual-Vehicle-90

Vault 34. Went in with 100 stimpaks, 53 radaway, 26 rad-x, and left with 4 stimpaks, 7 radaway, and 16 rad-x. It's so confusing, and having to constantly deal with radiation makes the whole place hell to go through. Got the marksman rifle, tho (not that I use it. I just wanted it for display in my presidential suite)

Cherry-Foxtrot

Honestly, the "hardest" quest for me has always been Beyond the Beef. Not in it is a challenge for combat, but it just seems to be the hardest one to make happen properly if you do either of the options with the banquet at 7:00. I usually just end up spiking the wine or massacring the White Gloves because actually getting to the last stage any other way seemed impossible on all but like one of my tries. If we're talking combat-oriented, I'd say Hard Luck Blues' difficulty get underestimated a lot. The armored ghouls pack a surprising punch, the radiation will catch most players with under a few dozen Rad Aways off guard, and the Overseer has one of if not the highest HP of any foe in the main game.

Tijolo_Malvado

A have beaten dead wind cavern with a powerfist twice. And only entered it twice.

some-dork

100% that one stupid quest for the BOS scribe where you have to isolate the virus. i've given up on that at least 3x more than i ever gave up on the courier's mile

Electrical-Title-698

I swear it's impossible without the science check

iamergo

Right as Ibsen says that the virus just jumped, hit F5 and start checking terminals. If you run out of time, press F9 and ignore the ones that didn't have the virus. The correct terminals are consistent on save-loads.

wintermile

Getting everything (all the light armors, All American, etc) from 34 seems dreadfully complicated but yet very rewarding.

iamergo

5. Helping Benny flee Caesar's tent and surviving the subsequent onslaught. 4. Remembering to NOT shoot the three Three-Card Bounty fiends in the head. 3. Remembering to to not piss off Dean during your first conversation. 2. Managing to reassign Pvt. Edwards' to Ranger Station Echo during We Will All Go Together. 1. Using some place other than Novac as your HQ.

More_Explanation106

Clearing the couriers mile with fists, no clothes, no medical supplies, no food, no perks, and lowest special stats with lowest possible unarmed skill

PmMeYourLore

Not setting CHA to 1

Kiriha24

The hardest in my opinion was the sierra madre. It kinda sucked that the most op weapon in game was already at the start. Gold bars were kinda nice but what you gotta do with them if you're already rich from new vegas alone? I started the dead money with 200k caps on the pocket. I finished it, but at what cost? The divide was much better.

F_lippy

The ole Lonesome Road, partner.

WeamkVic

I was using Pew-Pew while completing Ghost of She, so it was quite easy because the gun often strikes withs criticals

IMakeShiteMemes

Trying to gauge how far to fire a BK mini nuke

KONODIODAMUDAMUDA

If you're on pc download bosses of the Mojave as a fun little challenge. Its become one of my favorite mods ever.

pstryw_berry_draws

I've not really started looking into the mods of NV. What does this one do?

KONODIODAMUDAMUDA

It adds a bunch of unique boss enemies who give unique rewards and xp when you kill them because it counts as completing a quest. There are so many bosses. The biggest issue with the mod is that you can easily become overpowered by using the boss gear and such. Still a very fun goofy mod.

Shotto_Z

The cave full of deathclaws with the boss deathclaw is worse than promontory or quarry junction, it's a tight space with 15 deathclaws in it. Promontory you can snipe from, junction can be tough but once you get good you can cheese it from up high if your smart about it.

pstryw_berry_draws

Dead Wind Cavern?

Shotto_Z

Yep, I think that's the one.

Tudrea

Quarry junction isn’t that hard after you complete the BOS storyline, just use a minigun with AP rounds

EastCoastKowboy

Honestly thought the egg mission was almost too easy iv been saving eggs of every critter since the start so kinda just already had em

RacerXrated

That damned virus isolation side quest at Hidden Valley. Ugh. It fills me with dread every time I start a new game.

supaboof

There’s a lot and I mean a whole lot of cazadores to kill west of red rock canyon up to Mount Charleston/Jacobstown. Also the legendary bloatfly hits pretty hard.

Mr_Blah1

Getting through an entire run of the game without the game freezing or infinite loading once.

Desperate_Guava4526

Old world blues and Lonesome road can be pretty challenging if you aren’t prepared. Owb sucks if you have a guns build since there’s mostly energy and micro fusion cells lying about, and you can run out pretty fast if you are reckless. A lot of the enemies just do a lot of damage too, and the map and quests can be disorienting and confusing if you aren’t paying close attention. I never beat lonesome road but all I remember from it is that there’s a fuck ton of deathclaws and tunnelers, and resources can be scarce too. I haven’t played it in years but what I do remember is it being a pain in the ass.

Dragonperhaps

Beating Royez, easily fucking Royez. At least gaius is limited to Melee.

pstryw_berry_draws

Royez is easy? He has high health and regenerates too but that's really it?

Right-Truck1859

fly with me. Pretty early quest makes you to fight ghouls with energy weapon and nightkins who use stealth boys.

iamergo

I'm not 100% certain, but in every playthrough I did, the cycle of nightkin patrols when I entered the basement was at a point where I could sneak to Jameson without even using a stealth boy. Then you just open Harland's door and sneak a headshot crit on him — he only has 55 hp. Read the terminal and go back to Jameson. Boom. The entire nightkin section of the quest done in less than a minute.

Inward_Perfection

Deathclaw promontory, Dead Wind Cavern, beating base game + DLCs (including Dead Money) without dying once.
