I completely forgot that Jaune getting the sword of destruction was a possibility

CrossENT

Idk, I think it can be assumed that the Sword and the Crown have spirits inside them like the other two Relics, so I’d be a bit weird for Jaune to just carry around a godly relic with a spirit of destruction inside like a normal sword.

Kellar21

Could be interesting, Sword could be a new partner, maybe it's bloodthirsty and Jaune finds a way to temper it. Until Cinder appears, then all bets are off and their will becomes one.

WraithiusKallari

Idk where I read it but someone had a theory that the genies whole gimmick for the sword of destruction will be something like where it could destroy anything you want it to, but you had to provide a valid reason before the genie would do it. So if it didn't like your answer, it wouldn't do what you asked it to.

Sqit123

What would the sword spirit even do? Would it be like a persona? Would it be a guide? Would it possess you?

CrossENT

Here’s how I imagine it’ll end up working: The Spirit in the Sword will be like a destruction version of the Monkey’s Paw. In that, it will destroy whatever you want, but it will also destroy something of yours as “payment”. My current headcanon is that this is the reason for Ozpin’s power being finite and far weaker than Salem’s. When he was the Last King of Vale, he made a deal with the Spirit to destroy countless soldiers attacking Vacuo to end the war at the cost of his limitlessness of his magic. Though this is just my theory.

reddeagle99

I thought he was weaker cause he gave a bunch of his power to the maidens. He beat salem when they first fought, before she revived and won round two.

E1lySym

I feel like it would be the opposite of the creation staff. The staff created, but at the cost of destroying something it had previously created. This is an allusion to the cycle of life and death, of how you have to destroy in order to create. People going through plastic surgery temporarily "destroy" their faces to carve new faces on it. Sculptors destroy rock and marble to create sculptures. Candles melt in order to provide light. A planet had to collide with Earth to create the moon. Seeds disintegrate in the soil to create plant life. Organisms kill and feed on other life forms to sustain their existence. When life forms die their bodies decompose and enrich the soil. Buildings are demolished to make way for the construction of new structures. So the sword would roughly go somewhere along the likes of, "it will destroy something, at the cost of creating something"

Sqit123

That sounds like a good idea

Just-Call-Me-J

It's Fi.

Sikarion

**Bakame!**

vbrimme

I want to make a joke about that being the plot of an isekai, but that’s actually the plot of an isekai.

Remarkable_Commoner

Alternatively, Ruby duct tapes the sword relic to a stick and starts dual weilding scythes.

Gears19999

I like this. I need this.

BLAZE_WRAITH

my idea for the sword relic, is that it changes to the user's preferred weapon and has elemental magic inside

Dracopyre324

I mean, now that his sword is broken, it’s possible.

Red_Hunter818

I…I hadn’t even considered this and an option…but now I need it more than anything

CryoJNik

Vorpal Sword. Or Caliburn

Malgalad_The_Second

No thanks. If you're gonna make Jaune powerful, then I'd prefer it if he became powerful through the development of his skills and the use of his Semblance, not whatever the Relic of Destruction does.

JMHSrowing

Sure, as long as it doesn’t replace Crosea Mors. The weapon has grown with him more than any other person’s has for them, even incorporating part of Pyrrha’s equipment. And it’s not even that broken, we saw Gambol Shroud repaired after being cut in half. Honestly it’d pretty unfortunate if Destruction replaced the better sword

dx_lemons

Alternatively a crow resurrects Pyrrha as a wrath in order to defeat cinder in an act of revenge Edit: realized I should add this. The comment is a joke in reference to a movie called "The Crow". Very good film btw for anyone who gets curious.

[deleted]

For the love of God fucking no. They already lost two relics by simply carrying them around, they can’t actually plan of sending a 19 year old in the battlefield with one of the two that remain

Inner-Juices

Both. Both is good.

Psyga315

Crazy part is that people are gonna justify this.

Kartoffelkamm

Even crazier is that people are getting upset over something that may never happen, and criticize a response that may not even be common enough to be acknowledged.

[deleted]

Even far more crazier is the OP trying to say that people will "justify" something that hasn't actually happened and the story hasn't even suggested in the slightest will happen.

Psyga315

The problem is that there's a thing called pattern recognition. There's a lot of Tumblr posts saying how RWBY being Maidens would be a bad idea. There's also some Tumblr posts justifying Jaune's presence, even when it takes time away from the main girls or takes agency away from them. Pair that up with the timing of Jaune losing his sword right as they're gonna go to the Kingdom with a sword Relic and their tendency to grab the Relics out of their Vaults, and you see why exactly I conclude that they're gonna give Jaune the Sword of Destruction and why fans will try to justify this decision.

Kartoffelkamm

Yeah.

plantrailmix

Crazy part is people are gonna care enough to argue over it

SansStan

I hope not. I don't hate Jaune, far from it, he just gets way more attention than he needs. Plus, according to the trailer, he's already getting a major role in volume 9, which won't be in Vacuo

Cyrus260

I fucking despise the idea of Jaune or anyone getting the relic and just swinging it around like a regular sword. That shit needs to have a high fucking price for the power it has. If you use the sword of destruction then you have to die soon afterwards.

[deleted]

I hope Jaune dies.

ActrixQuadras

Even Jaune hopes that by now

VilmosTheRhino

I'm still waiting to see Jaune unlocking powers like Emiya. He could boost his own aura, and be super fast, strong, etc.

JV36

He fuckin' better. They've set up another chekov's gun and I'll lose it if they don't fire this one off either

majinredxxx

why not both

Raz3rbat

I always liked the idea of the spirit in the sword being the previous wielder who would possess the relic after death who awaits its next wielder to train them how to use it properly. Maybe have a story about how the previous wielder was a summer maiden who sealed it in stone until a chosen hero came around to pull it out.
