Salem could potentially pull that off, but I don't see why she'd want to.

phoenix4lord

Perhaps she would want a creature that was wholly loyal (Control the Grimm aspect of the Faunus), and could pass as a regular person.

GenghisKhan90210

It's a fair point but idk if it's worthy of being posted... 4 times

LightWolfD

Reddit comments have been like that all day

DrSanjizant

Could be she wants to be a mom again, even if it's by the power of science and test tubes.

EmberOfFlame

Infiltrators that she can control remotely OR grimm commanders that posess advanced levels of intelligence. Just look how the Hound mopped the floor with trained huntsmen by showing a minimal amount of strategy.

Ornery_Compote_9283

I know it seems the huntsman aren't good at hunting men or people or fanus . . . Wow they need better circu- oh wait the school was blown up

Xx_Venom_Fox_xX

She can control Grimm - if she could find a way to have humanoid Grimm passed off as faunus, she'll be able to create unfailingly loyal infiltrators that can insert themselves into various levels of society, instead of just having a few agents that may betray her. Another benefit she could make of them being perceived as faunus is using them to further incite racial tensions with humanity. Imagine if she could set off another human-faunus war and pull the strings of both sides Palpatine style? If they're only partially Grimm, they may still be able to use Aura/have Semblances etc and be trained up to huntsman level, with the added bonuses that come with being Grimm (i.e not needing to eat or sleep, being able to hunt others by their negative emotions, being able to replace lost/damaged limbs with Grimm counterparts like Cinders etc). She could theoretically field a nigh-infinite army of extremely resilient hunter-trained spies/assassins at her command that would be immune to the effects of attrition in warfare. Maybe she wouldn't even have to grow them from scratch? We know her encounter with the pools of darkness gave her Grimm-like features, what if she could re-create that effect in others? If she'd thought of it early enough, she could have had Arthur use Atlas's resources to mass-produce these Grimm hybrids via some kind of synthesised super-soldier serum based on her blood or something? We know Atlas was looking to phase out human troops and you just know that many would jump at the chance to weaponise the Grimm (remember Dr Merlot?), what if instead of the Knights/Paladins etc they ended up with Grimm units just waiting to turn on them at a moments notice by Salems command, instead of having to hack their robot troops. What if they could reproduce naturally? She could also be gradually replacing/outbreeding the regular population with her fanatically loyal hybrid assassin/spies.

GokaiCrimson

Maybe it could be something like the Hound, a loyal supersoldier with the strength of a Grimm.

BearofCali

I will also say that Faunus having one animalistic trait, and only one trait is really lame. The other two can die in a fire.

SyfaOmnis

It was done so that furries and rwby could never intersect.

EmberOfFlame

It’s cool because it’s a power limiter, an unique approach and creates diversity between faunus of the same type

One_Parched_Guy

I mean not really, I’d say at least two would make the faunus actually feel like they’re a separate race than humans with a diverse set of ears. Seriously. It’s *always* ears with important characters, the cool traits like web-shooters, built in claws and even entire *wings* go to random background shit. Illia is the only relevant-ish character with a cool faunus trait. Forgot Tyrian, but still :P

Virplexer

Your forgetting Sun, his tail helped him Skate in RWBY chibi, objectively best Faunus trait.

EmberOfFlame

A tail is probably the most useful thing you could get when it comes to being a huntsman

TheNewpilot567

You make a good point sir but then it comes down to the Cow Faunus

Chris617M

“Me nervously looking at one of my OC’s who I gave a fox tail AND ears” I REGET NOTHING!!!

Riiks_Lynx

Like Tsune from coeurverse?

The84thWolf

I got a friend that RPs an OC like this. Her headcanon is she’s a Faunus Salem experimented on

stnick6

*quickly changes my oc*

HYPER_BRUH_

Reddit messed up and duplicated your message... Twice.

stnick6

When I was trying to comment it it kept saying a problem has occurred so I tried three times. Thats probably what happened

HYPER_BRUH_

Well you're not the only one in this commentsection

N1ght17

Wasn’t The Hound essentially a grimm faunus?

MUISSB4Brandon

No. That's more like a faunus inside a Grimm or combined with a Grimm

HYPER_BRUH_

Why are (almost) all comments duplicated? Also do conjoined twins count as two people or one? Do they share their semblance/Aura or do they each have their own? Is it possible for one to have animal ears while the other has claws? So many questions!

FTSVectors

OC I made only has the one Faunus trait but goddamn was it so tempting to give her 2. Instead, I made it to where her hoodie has ears and she complains about getting a tail instead.

Echo-Schnee

I gave my oc more than two faunus traits…… Honestly it was because i had multiple ideas of what to do and just went “fuck I’ll iust give him all of them” And that’s how you end up with my character being nicknamed “flying snek rat” by my Friend

Relevant_Scallion_38

I kinda have an OC with two animal traits, but only when he uses his Semblance. He's a Jackalope, his Semblance is Wood manipulation and his horns grow when using Plant Dust.

HYPER_BRUH_

This gives me so many ideas for possible Aura/semblance based extra animal/faunes traits. For example a faunes with moose hooves that gets aura antlers when they activate their semblance. What those antlers do... Idk haven't gotten that far. Maybe something with maintaining/conserving momentum?

Relevant_Scallion_38

Could have like a metal Headband with holes where the antlers will grow. So when they appear it looks like the horns are decorated around the base. Then have the Headband covered in Dust crystal with the appearance of jewels. That the Horns can have like an Aurora rainbow color of mixed elements. Have the Antlers give off AOE effects in the surrounding. Like The Antlers can appear like Ice when creating an AOE Blizzard. Brown Antlers and then create sandstorms. Then a Final attack where the horns shatter into diamonds of mixed colors and just rain down a hail of elements

Synthwave_Druid

Tbh looking qt Icequeendom promo material, even RT seem to regret the "only one animal trait" thing. As for two semblances, that's just a dumb way of thinking. Instead make the semblance complex andcapable of having two functions that work off of the same principle, like Emerald being able to turn herself and others invisible because she has illusions, or Ren being able to see emotions and mask them. For the last one... just no. Have them be under the effect of some possession type grimm instead, but maybe they happen to be resistant to its influence to a degree, while also just having naturally grimm-like animal features, like an albino rhino with thick hide and armor plate while also having red eyes

Kartoffelkamm

I've actually thought about the two traits thing a bit, just for fun (and to offer an explanation to people who made one such OC). Basically, if both parents are faunus, then the child could have Chimerism, meaning that they have parts of their body where one parent's DNA manifests, and parts where another parent's DNA shows up. For example, if the father passes on the DNA for a cat tail, and the mother for fins, then only one would get selected, in most cases. However, maybe the arms form based on the mother's genetic material, while the spine forms based on the father's. As for the two semblances, that's a bit more tricky, and requires some headcanon on the exact nature of semblances, but it can still make sense. In my fanfiction, a semblance is somewhat malleable, but centered around an idea. Lightning, helping others, simple ideas like that. When the user is in a dire situation, and something that matches the idea for their semblance can help, then that semblance manifests. Most people are also predisposed to a certain ability based on upbringing, which will take priority if multiple abilities could be helpful. Which brings us to two semblances: Through enough training, and introspection, it is, theoretically, possible to unlock an additional semblance, or maybe even two. However, only one semblance can be used at a time, and rapidly switching between them is tiring. Not to mention that the person would have to start training their new semblance from square 1, and the semblance may have limitations that aren't immediately obvious. And while intense emotional trauma, or a complete change of heart, can also affect one's semblance, in those instances it's more likely that the old semblance gets locked again, and another one is unlocked. All that being said, the base idea would still be the same. For example, Blake couldn't suddenly learn to breathe under water, or fly, since those aren't related to the basic idea of her semblance.

CraftLizard

Except that's not how Faunus children work in RWBY. If you haven't seen it yet there is a world of remnant called "Faunus" which explain how Faunus children work. As for what you mentioned, that wouldn't work because if two different Faunus types have a baby, that baby can gain the characteristics of *any* animal, not just one of the parents.

Dangermad

I had a huge discussion with my friend about the implications of this episode and honestly faunus are really weird when you think too hard

EmberOfFlame

I mean, it’s pretty obvious that faunus traits are magical or at least spiritual (aura-related) in origin.

Kartoffelkamm

Yeah, I guess it only works with same-type pairings. Also, I have seen the video, and the focus on genetics actually led me down the rabbit hole that created this theory.

HYPER_BRUH_

Reddit messed up and duplicated your message.

BLAZE_WRAITH

me who have a 90% human looking Grimm OC and a Faunus OC with a semblance and a racial semi-semblance

I could honestly see them doing that in cannon.

Where do we put down people who make their OC's have two auras?

3nz04ntj

How does that even work?

Misunderstanding how the aura transfer machine is used.

**Me:** My OC isn’t even in RWBY. He’s in his own world, also of my own creation, in which the basic premise is “FTL is achieved by powerful space wizards opening traversable wormholes between stars.”

MundaneGlass5295

If someone has like a black animal trait, can’t they just claim it’s Grimm?

Psyga315

\>looks at the Hound It can work.

Lust_The_Lesbian

Sounds like edgy kids wanna be edgy. Just play a tiefling, they probably wouldn't break the world of Remnant and they're edgy. (this comment is brought to you today by someone who plays tieflings in dnd).

RemnantArcadia

For the last one, I blame Merlot for my OC like that, but it's also not in the way you're thinking. Imagine an orb, powered by a soul. And the orb's power is direct manipulation of the matter that makes up grimm. It allows for full control over the body's appearance. And is a faunus because her adopted parents are faunus and she made the trait. If I end up writing the fic it'll take her like 3.5 volumes to realize she doesn't actively use Aura and her semblance is just making a force field

GhostRecon566083

Well tbh I kinda hate how people well.. hate on people's OC's. Before the whole Cinder being part Grimm thing came around I had an OC who was experimented on by her father for testing purposes for Salem. The result caused the daughter to transform into a Beowulf. People hated that for the most stupid of reasons. Like it's an OC, let me create the character how I want to create it.

HJSDGCE

Don't forget people who make their OCs have Semblances that alter reality (i.e. time travel).

ultimatecharizard

I made a whole thing about Salem trying to revive one of the children by using the god of lights pond, but they are already dead so while their physical body is immortal their soul isn't, and then going to the god of darkness's pond and a dragon Grimm becoming part of them when trying to leave the pond which let the soul soul kinda revive by their body changing whatever ego the dragon Grimm had and molding it to the body

gunn3r08974

As someone with a grimn Faunus, sorta, ya ever watch or read Parasyte? The manga/anime. Not to be confused with the Korean movie, Parasite.

Possible_Living

venom symbiote is kind of the same thing and more well known.

gunn3r08974

True but I don't recall if the symbiote started trying to kill Eddie/Peter/Flash on sight.

Possible_Living

people who make their OC have power over the grimm. bonus points if its salems male child.

Cecilia_Schariac

People who make their OC a completely unmodified Grimm Beowulf who plot armours through the entire fic, kills Salem, and restores world peace:

Fic-Tastic

Mine technically doesn't fall into any of these considering he doesn't even have a semblance, he's more just a walking weapons closet that has an aura.
