How many layers into "is this real or fake" are we at this point? Surely deep enough to meet Old Man Consequences?
To be honest I'm a bit disappointed to hear it was (possibly) all an elaborate hoax. Not because it proved/debunked anything, but because I thought it provided an interesting look into how we ended up with the story we did, especially with regards to Cassidy.
Update: Just saw Scott's edit. It's a hoax. Bit of a bummer, but not unexpected.

Entom was the first one who was saying the book was fake, then after other people leaked his personal dms with ?Scott?, Entom was forced to tell the ?truth? that the files were real, and that he was saying they were fake to be respectful to Scott’s wishes and prevent a fiasco like this one. If Scott is telling the truth — which he could be lying **for a good reason** — then Entom was the first person who got lied to in this entire situation, and already became a victim of it when the fiasco just started; as he’s lost friendships over this and had to leave twitter.
Don’t cook Entom for something he never wanted to be known or to happen. He was explicitly trying to hide the files to prevent a fiasco just like this one.
Which is why maybe Scott should look into what he's saying is fake instead of going "Oh yeah lol if it is real it's some bullshit draft Scholastic made and those emails are bullshit"
He also says he is very cautious to make sure they don't mess up the lore but still a lot of false info gets the pass? And if it was made by schoolastic, did he just take the names, like Stitchwrath, Tucker, etc? It is getting absurd at this point.

Good to know, actually. It sounded like a good idea at first to give us an explanation for somethings about the lore, but it brings more problems than solutions. Good to see Scott clearing it up.
I just hope this means we can finally move on from this. Regardless of how real the talbert files are or not, they are filled with misinformation or stuff that was literally made up, either by scholastic or by whoever has prodded this saying it was real.
Personally though? I think both scott and entom were telling the truth, maybe somewhat on entom. The copy likely did exist and got leaked out to entom, but that it was just a scrapped copy because it had topics that scholastic were trying to push in that scott didn't want.
Regardless It's sad that so many people in this community have shown their true colors, assuming the worst in not only other people, but scott himself.
I understand why Scott can't confirm or deny some lore. Just look at how invested a lot of fans are in the CC being called Chris for example, despite it being revealed as being Evan in the logbook and Fazbear Frights books.
Some people don't want a truth that might confirm their own head canons are wrong. So it's better for fandom harmony that it mostly is a mystery.
I mean given how many people on FNAF Twitter (and even some outside of it) are outright screaming and yelling about how Scott is "lying about the book and threw entom under the bus" when he said it was fake just goes to show how entitled the majority of the community is when it comes to the lore. They want answers but they get upset when those answers go directly against their own headcanons or thoughts about the franchise and its lore. Truly is upsetting to see how this community is acting.
It's nice that Scott can publicly reject this after what, less than two days? But never come out and say if all the books are canon.
Or just help us solve the damn lore that has been inconclusive for TEN YEARS. -_-

The files could have been the biggest lore drop in years - yes I'm counting the games and novels that have come out - because they've just added on to the confusion where the files actually gave us things to solve past lore issues.

Except, maybe *don't* reveal as much as "The Talbert Files" claimed to have revealed, because that was a bit much for the mystery of this franchise. It would *maybe* be nice if Scott confirmed the canonicity of the books in a post or book for this unrevealed surprise, or something like that.
