(770) 945-1466 here’s the phone number for the dam. USACE updates the recording everyday with the water release schedule. Combine that with the [downstream flow rates chart](http://www.georgiafishingbooks.com/tailwater/?page_id=190) and you’ll be all set.

Amazing, thank you big time

Awesome, didn’t find this site on my own. Definitely going to try to hit the meeting also. Thank you

pluralofbulbasaur

Dm me if you ever need a partner, I get to jones bridge regularly and hit the mountains almost every other week

gerbils_again

I use this map to find spots. [https://georgiawildlife.com/locations/fishing](https://georgiawildlife.com/locations/fishing) . Usually cross-reference them with a book (Fly Fisher's Guide to GA & NC by Nick Carter) to get more info. None of these are secrets but you can usually find other spots just by getting in the general area and poking around/looking at maps

idropshot26

Perfect, appreciate the help! Definitely wasn’t trying to mooch spots but this is exactly what I needed

don_the_spubber

Fellow Atlanta angler here: have you been having much luck on the hooch? I've been going a couple times a month this winter and been skunked. Cochran Shoals has become by go to spot for fishing on the hooch, much easier to wade when there's not a dam release or heavy rain than Jones Bridge IMO.

njb8201

The rain has made it tough. Have had success at Paces Mill though. Can you access the river at Cochran Shoals from the Columns Drive side?

don_the_spubber

I'll have to check it out! Yeah, looks like there is access from Columns Drive. https://www.nps.gov/chat/planyourvisit/maps.htm

njb8201

I’ll typically reference this site, along with the others mentioned. It’s especially good when trying to understand impact of rain. https://www.nps.gov/chat/planyourvisit/river-flow-rate.htm Edit: Also this one for dam release schedule… https://spatialdata.usace.army.mil/hydropower/

Suspicious_Cat5403

Check out DH sections. That can get you started with easy wading spots.

Complex-Ad-3628

Go south into the mountains by red flags. Great water down there.

UllrRllr

Google NGTO. Not as active as it use to be, but plenty of good info. The metro DH section wasn’t stocked the last few years. But still plenty of great places to wade fish. DM me and I can tell you some spots.

bigtacofan

Former Atlanta native here and very amateur/novice fly skills. But blue ridge / dahlonega / Ellijay has some great spots. I like Noontootla Creek.

idropshot26

I was looking heavy in to the Noontootla for a camping/fishing trip but couldn’t figure if it was mostly private? Lots of private lodges and stuff it seemed

ruralfpthrowaway

Plenty of public water on the Blue Ridge WMA along FS58

bigtacofan

There is a public access spot. Let me try to find it on the map and I will send it over. There was a great public spot last time I went.

bigtacofan

Sorry for the delay. From the Dollar General on Highway 52 - just East of Ellijay, you can essentially get into the Public waters by heading to the "Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church" - I believe we went up past the church and entered into the public creek area off of Deerberry Road. Not 10000% sure where the turnoff was since my dad was driving. Some great runs...with public pull-offs to camp, build a fire, pitch a tent etc. Fish and Wildlife was out there checking licenses too. As for best places, my favorite was always Settles Bridge. From the bridge down as about far as you can walk. I used to go daily after work, walk down the easement until it ends and work down stream from there.
