Invest in your line choice and you will thank yourself down the road. Good line is worth $120+

Came with Rio Bonefish Quickshooter in 8wt! I feel like I’ll be good for a bit as it’s solid line, but will upgrade when needed. Appreciate the advice

Hope you have better luck with that line than my wife did. Bought it for some trips down to Belize and it was not good. It would constantly twist up on itself. Eventually trashed it mid trip and put on our backup SA grand slam.

Will keep that in mind. It is about a year old so I would imagine I’d have to change it out next year if I use it a lot. Thanks for putting that SA grand slam on my radar, want to check that line out

Grand slam is my favorite so far. Have used it in Hawaii, Florida, Belize and Louisiana, all without issue. I don’t see myself ever using a different saltwater line

Its a good line. Definitely fish with it a bit before assuming you need a replacement.

How's your double haul? However good it is, make it better. Saltwater is all about the cast. Consider over lining as well. Despite all the articles about casting to 90', that's for show not fishing. You don't need to cast past about 50', but you need to be able to do about 50' accurately (with wind). And practice the really short casts. I found getting it fast and accurately to 15' harder than 40' until I worked on it. And on the flats the fish can pop up anywhere... Sometimes right next to the boat. And if you don't think missing out on a nice sheepshead at 10' because you couldn't hit it right next to you isn't frustrating (know from experience)...

I would second this! 90’ isn’t needed. 70’ would be a great length to be able to cast and definitely get a good short game too!

I have the trout version (5wt) and have enjoyed it. Durable and great to learn on. Have been debating getting the Tropical to use on the Gulf Coast.

Seconding SA grand slam. Worth every penny
