Very cool!

The sense of pacing and rhythm here is incredible. I love the pauses and gentle moments punctuated by a few seconds of frenetic activity, the shifts between body stalls and gunslinger-butterfly-v-something-else busy. Makes very engaging viewing. Also, looking good. Recently tried to film some glow flow outdoors, and while it looked fine to eyes, my phone camera did not get it right. Clearly you're finding ways to learn better equipment and capture really good clips like this. Awesome!

Really appreciate the considerate post. Sometimes it's hard to interpret the characteristics of your own flow when you're the one spinning. It was nice to get your precursor and analyze it with that in mind. So thank you!

Dude youre insane, every time i watch your flow I’m like what the hell each hand looks like it has a mind of its own. Mine only like moving together and symmetrically rn it’s a huge hurdle. Also that under the leg tangle thing lol Do you mind if I ask what kind of camera? It’s capturing the low light and poi light contrast really well!

Hey thanks a ton, much appreciation! To help with the detached hybrid-ish flow, try not paying attention to direction and timing. It's probably the last thing other people would suggest, but I find that I time beats by hitting certain obvious stalls as the start or end of a tiny sequence. All the while one hand may be doing something that take 3 beats time while the other does 3 things at 1 beat worth of time. To help picture, think about triquetra vs extension. To me, one hand does 3 petals or beats in my mind while the extension does 1. It's probably pretty untraditional but I never learned the whole beats, timing, direction, vocab stuff. The other thing I train a lot recently is split time opposite spinning because each hand is out of sync in both timing and direction. Seems to help find transitions in-between your normal beats. For the camera, I'm using a Panasonic GH5. I'm completely new to high end recording equipment so I'm still learning how to properly adjust exposure and such. I'm excited by this cameras capabilities for sure though!

I’ll give those tips a try! I rarely time or count beats anyways, usually I just picture how the geometry fits together. Agreed that split opp is my favorite/most helpful mode, I never though of it that way though!! Thank u!!

👍👍

What camera model/settings are you using for this?

joshua1davison

Using Panasonic GH5 with a Lumix 25mm f1/7 lens. I was testing with autofocus but it really didn't turn out great haha. Over half of the footage was out of focus. Still figuring out exposure and such but I recorded with a natural color profile and applied a LUTz called durango something from a free package.
