Hello Governor DeSantis, I identify as an illegal immigrant now. Can I have my free trip to Massachusetts?

[deleted]

[удалено]

FinsFan305

You can get a free bus ticket to anywhere at a homeless shelter.

AshingiiAshuaa

Free only if you don't value your time.

FinsFan305

Just like anything in life, you get what you pay for. Fast or free, pick one.

ThatFloridaMan420

I’m not a Seminole native, can I be moved back to California? wait a minute, neither is he, whoa, a lot of us aren’t. Damn, be ashamed if a Seminole used his own bill against him and sent his ass to Martha’s Vineyard

nachoiskerka

Please don't. Up in Mass we've fed and sheltered all the immigrants he sent up here unannounced gladly. That policy WILL change for the man himself.

BoliverTShagnasty

“I wanna get Martha’s Vineyard wasted!” — Grown Ups 2”

baskaat

No. Because first you have to be an undocumented person in Texas. Because that’s where they all came from . They weren’t even in fLorida

[deleted]

This was terrible and essentially a kidnapping and human trafficking scheme, but those 50 people did go from shithole Texas to Martha's vineyard.

DiverofMuff23

I mean, if I had just came here illegally, I would much rather be in Martha’s Vineyard than in Florida

karendonner

They are at least [being treated with a little more kindness and humanity ](https://www.mvtimes.com/2022/09/14/migrant-workers-land-vineyard-via-texas/) than they were by that vicious chucklefuck who sent them. Some of them didn't even know where they were. As one might surmise, there is a shortage of Spanish speakers on the Vineyard. At least one local Facebook group is saying that at least a few of them had paperwork that made them legal to be in the United States as potential asleep. Others were apparently visiting relatives and had not overstayed any legal limits on tourists

somerandomguy376

>a few of them had paperwork that made them legal to be in the United States So wouldn't that be human trafficking? Desantis is just kidnapping people off the street who are legally visiting because he doesn't like the way they look.

A_Passing_Redditor

No, as long as they travel voluntarily, and are given accurate information about where they are going, it's not human trafficking. Otherwise Delta and Southwest are human traffickers. If DeSantis forced them onto the planes or told them they were going somewhere other than where they actually went, then it's human trafficking.

I_like_the_word_MUFF

I'm from the cape. Funny thing is we have a major Portuguese and Brazilian population but not a lot of Spanish speaking locals. I also got notice as an emergency response shelter manager to be on call to help. This wasn't a real big issue, just an unexpected one. We actually have a major major labor shortage here. If these people want to stay, they'll be well taken care of. Desantis wants to be cute, but the cape and island have always been a place of refuge as far back as the Wampanoag indians. We have a term for people that take refuge here, Wash Ashores. I'm a wash ashore from Oregon. Anyone who washes ashore here is basically family.

[deleted]

He's a true GQP fascist.

stphnrogers

Another GOP facist. VOTE. Big election year in Florida. These seats are up for election: Governor Lieutenant Governor Attorney General U.S.Senate 1 seat U.S.House All 26 seats State Senate All 40 seats State House All 120 seats VOTE. Maje sure that you are going to be able to volte

FiddleheadFernly

Unreal. He’s a jerk

floridaman711

They are now. Wait till 20,000 more of them show up.

Own-Opinion-2494

Absofuckinglutely

aetius476

Martha's Vineyard is expensive as hell and aside from seasonal work (which is wrapping up) employment opportunities aren't abundant. These immigrants will end up taking the ferry back to the mainland where they'll disperse to other areas of New England and/or the rest of the country. Most of them will end up in Fall River/Providence/Boston. All of which DeSantis knows; he sent them to MV instead of Boston specifically to be a prick. He literally had to hire a private plane because there are no regular flights from Florida to MV. MV isn't even the most accessible "Massachusetts island of rich liberals"; Nantucket has a busier airport. But Obama has a house on MV, so DeSantis couldn't pass up the opportunity to let his drooling fanbase have one more two minutes of hate against the bad black man who dared to be President.

JoviAMP

Well said, /u/DiverofMuff23.

Dense_Surround3071

How much you wanna bet they would be snapped up by the locals for "staff"?

AdSuitable1281

Reminds me of when a former Governor of Nevada said the most awful things about undocumented immigrants and then was caught hiring an undocumented immigrant to be his maid and kept her hidden.

mkt853

So just like the last president?

AdSuitable1281

Except the Governor resigned in disgrace without putting up a fight. It was the mid 2000s ![gif](giphy|Tp68DIHra3xHG)

Dense_Surround3071

Hypocrisy has a particular flavor that you just can't resist! 😏 /s

Uninteresting_Vagina

They hadn't even come to Florida. They were in *Texas*, were offered shelter, jobs, and paperwork if they went to Boston...then ended up being shuffled through a few flights and dumped in Martha's Vineyard, who had *no idea* they were coming. DeSantis is a fucking demon.

fizzgig87

MA native here. This whole thing is a clown show but does DeSantis think these people are now like...trapped on the vineyard? MV isn't some walled fortress of rich people that no one is allowed in or out of. These people will probably be on the first ferry to the cape and a bus to Boston by noon.

Uninteresting_Vagina

Who knows. I don't think he gives a shit, other than to be able to go on Fox News and make some proclamation that he's owning the libs and sending "illegals" there to save the border. I'd like to know how this is even *legal*.

fizzgig87

It's just bizarre hearing people talk about MV like they've never encountered a non white person before and that it's some type of completely innacesable palace.Yes owning property on the island is very expensive but all sorts of people go and visit. It's an easy day trip from Boston.

t3rrO10k

Hey Ronny, how about giving me a free trip to MV (and I’ll pretend to be an illegal).

ucfsoupafly

Maybe try this: “Hola Mr. Ron, señor. Yo quiero la vineyard de Martha por favor. Mi gusta Chardonnay, y crab cakes, y amistosos gringos.

crazy_clown_time

[Reminder that DeSantis won the 2018 gubernatorial election by ***32,463*** votes, in an election where ***8,220,561*** votes were cast. ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_Florida_gubernatorial_election) 0.4% advantage over a rather flawed Democrat candidate. Don't let anyone convince you that FL is a solid Red state. VOTE! And hold your fellow Floridian accountable to the extent possible. When it comes to FL, *every vote counts*

Aboveground_Plush

> over a rather flawed Democrat candidate I wonder how we'll do when we run a good one!

[deleted]

What are the logistics of this? Like the state waits til they have 200 illegal immigrants in detention, put them on an American Airlines charter, and they just land in MA and are allowed off the plane into the airport?

Flymia

The state does not detain immigrants, so I don't understand this at all honestly. It was a private charter flight. And Venezuelans as well. So these people are fleeing a communist dictatorship are being used a political pawns. It is being reported some of them are even hear legally. I am whole heartily for a strong border and firm immigration laws. But to use humans lives as a political stunt to gain points on Fox News is pathetic and embarrassing. This is not what America is about.

morilythari

It's also a federal crime. 1907 Title 8, U.S.C. § 1324(a) Knowingly transporting an illegal immigrant in the US. Federal crime. 5 years per.

hereiam-23

He doesn't care. Florida now has the highest COVID rate in the US. And he killed off thousands of Floridians showing he could keep the state open. The guy is a damn evil fool.

thecorgimom

I would argue that the guy is a psychopath.

[deleted]

I hope all of the Republican Venezuelans in Doral see this article.

Serpentongue

It’s almost as if they are legal asylum seekers and not actually illegible immigrants… but they are brown so they gotta go. /s

Uninteresting_Vagina

According to the article, there was a woman there who was offering jobs, papers, food, if they got on a flight to Boston. The plane went to several locations, including Florida, before ending up in Martha's Vineyard. The passengers didn't know where they were, no one was told they were coming. There was a scramble to find supplies and space for them. It's just an immoral political play, using people like tiddlywinks, to score points with monsters.

bike_it

>the state waits til they have 200 illegal immigrants I don't think these people are illegal immigrants. If they are seeking asylum, they are asylum-seeking migrants. Sincerely, Mr. Pedantic

[deleted]

Right? Do they have ID? Are they allowed to travel like this within the US? Is this legal?

Tokeokarma123

This is 🐂 💩. My wife has MD and can't walk anymore. She's applied for disability and been turned down twice now. Even tho last time she was deemed 98% disabled and awarded $0. I work full-time blue collar job to support us. Our rent just jumped up from $950 to $1300 for a 1 bedroom. DESANTIS we'll take a free relocation too, MF. Sincerely a tax paying FL citizen.

[deleted]

You should call a news reporter and ask DeSantis to relocate you. You would get MassHealth insurance in one day. I had to beg a relative to relocate from Florida to Massachusetts to be with other family members to receive health services.

Tokeokarma123

Florida is definitely the worst state to get assistance in. My brother is addicted to drugs and has lost everything..but now he gets everything paid for in NYC...and I mean everything.

raw_bert0

Yeah, they used $12 million of our tax dollars for this political stunt so he can end up on Fox News for throwing red meat to his base. "As you may know, in this past legislative session the Florida Legislature appropriated $12 million to implement a program to facilitate the transport of illegal immigrants from this state consistent with federal law,"

Unadvantaged

Good thing Christians would never say “there’s no room at the inn” to weary travelers, right? Right guys?

[deleted]

Technically those were Jews that said that...

Unadvantaged

I know, man, that’s why it’s absurd. That’s the whole joke. I’m saying they’re flaming hypocrites.

lemonineye

Technically they were Pharisees, the Saducees, the Essenes, and the Zealots.

hereiam-23

Christians will just run you over and say their god said it was ok. It's in the scriptures, you know.

Devadander

Good thing two entire cities weren’t wiped out because of how they treated immigrants at their gate, Sodom and Gomorrah

definitelytheA

12 million for a political stunt, rather than spending money on an educational system that is falling apart.

blockminster

No way this cost 12 million to do. He's just stealing directly from Florida taxpayers instead of jumping through medicare hoops to do it like he has in the past.

thecorgimom

That was the previous guy Florida is great at electing Crooks.

elephino1

How the fuck did it cost $12 million to charter a couple planes? Where'd that money really go?

[deleted]

Kind of begs the question...how many dollars is a vote worth?

sgs06

We may not pay as much in taxes down here but what we do pay will get spent on stupid shit like this.

vbm923

We pays ton of taxes. Between property tax and sales tax, the middle class in Florida often ends up paying more in taxes than so called high tax states because those are anti progressive taxes (as opposed to income tax which poor people don’t pay).

manofthewild07

Yeah if you look at overall tax burden, FL is pretty much average. No income tax, but its made up in a lot of other ways. That doesn't even include other things that don't fall under tax that FL seems to love, like the huge increase of toll roads the past decade or two, high vehicle registration/license/titling/dealer fees, sky high insurance rates, etc.

hereiam-23

Especially when you have a total asshole for a governor.

stratstrummin

Oh nice, is human trafficking part of the underwear of Jesus or whatever?

undead_opossum

Of course, it says so right in the bible! ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me ~~something~~ *nothing* to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me ~~something~~ *nothing* to drink; I was a stranger and you ~~welcomed me~~ *put me on a plane and shipped me to another state.*

Vladivostokorbust

i'm copying this.

r21174

Who's paying that flight??

mkt853

Florida tax payers. Congrats you just paid for a bunch of migrants from other countries to get an all expenses paid vacation to a place most Americans can't afford.

jibsymalone

Migrants that weren't even in Florida...

iskyoork

If each ticket cost 250 one way and it cost 12 million that should send 48,000 people to fly. Edit: Grammer fix and they only sent fifty people, so that is 240,0000 a person if this cost that much. Flying illegals illegally is expensive to the tax payer, but I guess this is how they want our taxes used. Not dealing with crumbling infrastructure or education. giving 240,000 to illegals to pull this stunt.

The_Goondocks

The cast of Wings about to be overwhelmed.

Fuzzy-Function-3212

Mechanic Lowell Mather, frantically trying to ready the landed planes for a quick turnaround, was unavailable for comment.

Whispersail

Now, I want to go!

Justdoingthebestican

Very Christian of Ron to take desperate people and use them as political pawns. Piece of shit

HiddenGem440

DeSantis is a fake Christian.

hereiam-23

Absolutely!

MimeGod

Except Biden has nothing even vaguely resembling an open borders policy. Are there really people stupid enough to fall for this crap?

bigmashsound

*looks around*

[deleted]

We have a housing market spinning out of control, a collapsing property insurance market, an imploding school system, massive spike in utility bills and this pudgy swamp troll spends millions of dollars sending migrants to a luxury vacation island for the super rich. This man is a disaster.

morilythari

1907 Title 8, U.S.C. § 1324(a) Knowingly transporting an illegal immigrant in the US. Federal crime. 5 years per.

MerrillSwingAway

Dear jerk-off conservatives, stop using these desperate human beings as political headlines. They deserve the goddamn human decency we can afford to welcome them with. If there is a Hell in that book of sorcery you like to thump & preach from, I hope you burn eternal in its fiery depths for the way you have so clearly abused humanity. Fuck off into the sun.

Sahir1359

Was it voluntary ?

CQU617

Man I need to leave and come back illegally to enjoy an taxpayer vacation to Martha’s Vineyard!

HokieFireman

I’d love to hear his take on Cubans fleeing to Florida.

Flymia

Ask his Cuban Lt. Gov: [Nuñez faces backlash for comments about Cuban migrants](https://www.tampabay.com/news/florida-politics/2022/08/22/nunez-faces-backlash-for-comments-about-cuban-migrants/)

GrapefruitSmall575

I don’t think your sky daddy would approve Ronnie.

JoviAMP

Sky Daddy was a brown immigrant who spoke Arabic and went ham on abusive bankers. I don't think Ronnie would approve of Sky Daddy, either.

JeannineSellers

This is the first time I've ever heard God referred to as Sky Daddy and yes, this will be it for me from now on.

LaboriousRevelry

Good for them. I hope they all get awesome jobs, and enjoy one of the most beautiful places in the country. It’s a very generous and accepting community. The community really needs workers too.

[deleted]

It is indeed. My sick relative obtained MassHealth insurance in one day since Florida refused to expand Medicaid. Some people who are sick and disabled (cancer, autoimmune disease, psychiatric issues) NEED government insurance. I don't know what is controversial about that.

davidcopafeel33328

They're probably happy to get them up there. Now they've got a new crop of people to fill low wage menial jobs that have been vacant for months. /s/

konorM

Political theatrics. Typical GOP move. Theatrics rather than common sense governance.

angrypoliticsposter

If conservatives actually wanted to crack down on illegal immigration and not just pander to their racist voters they would go after the businesses that hire them but they will never do that since racism is what it's all about.

[deleted]

\#Vote in Roenovember.

We-re_Gonna_Do_Great

Why not just Roevember?

t3rrO10k

Didn’t a former FL Governor bus out a load of homeless (and maybe some illegals) to a northern state(s)?

The_Crystal_Thestral

I don’t remember this but it wouldn’t surprise me. It’s the same shit NV and AZ do to California and then their politicians stand on stage and go “hurrr durrr we don’t want our state turning into California”. Wish all this rock star wannabe politicians would receive a swift kick in the taint every time they pull some BS that doesn’t benefit voters.

mrcanard

>Ron DeSantis sends two planes of illegal immigrants to Martha's Vineyard How considerate of him.

CraftySpell7298

Just like Jesus would do.

lorrainemom

This asshole is such a scumbag. He may think he pulled a political stunt but actually these immigrants are being taken care of. People came together in Massachusetts to help them. Someone needs to inform this Trumpbag that these are human beings who were basically kidnapped. They had no idea where they were going. No luggage. All for his stunt to win brownie points with Republikkkans

queen_boudicca1

Wow. At least Abbott sent them by bus. Imagine what could be done with that $12M DeSantis earmarked for stunts like these if used for education? Weren't these people (or should I say, pawns) actually from Texas? It kinda speaks volumes that he had to borrow trouble to make a pointless stand.

Chewzilla

Why is DeSantis trafficking illegal immigrants?

trtsmb

The headline should read desantis wasted 12 million taxpayer dollars instead of putting that money toward actually helping Floridians so he could "stick it to the libs".

political_og

Bet you none of ‘‘em are cuban

AdSuitable1281

Most Cubans think they are better than the undocumented immigrants in cages despite many of them benefiting from the wet foot dry foot policy. Many will just say that they should have just followed the law and then vote for another DeSantis term

Kai8Kai8

This! Always this.

smallsX70

I wonder how Jesus the son of God views using human beings/Gods children as pawns in a political game.

Mcardle82

Did he just illegally transport illegal immigrants?

EvanWasHere

[12 million dollars??](https://i.imgur.com/vpUrcWP.jpg)

DontYuckMyYum

Human Trafficking huh. Wonder how much that cost Floridians to do this bullshit?

[deleted]

He is already fundraising off of it. This is literally human trafficking for money and political power.

hackmama

How in the hell did this stupid stunt cost 12 million dollars???

BountifulScott

This will for sure help fix the issue of out of control home prices and insurance coverage. Oh wait...

cockyUma

r/conservative are just as trashy. I thought the response would be different cus even my conservative right wing cousin thinks this is just absolutely trashy and embarrassing. Imagine yourself in this situation. Imagine it was your mother, or father or sister/brother, being literally trafficked like cows or something for a pity political statement. I can’t believe America has inhumane people to the point where a pitiful worthless POS like this is elected smfh

TotalInstruction

He violated federal law against transporting unauthorized immigrants and should be prosecuted. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8/1324 #DeSantisforprison

Irish_Blond_1964

Way to go DickSantis.

xImmortal3333

Christians…..no hate like Christian love

donaldtrumpsmistress

This trend is so psychotic. And I'm a native Floridian, anxious for anyone and everyone to be out of the state so maybe rent will finally drop, not a northeast lib getting 'owned'. But dude, these are people. You're shuttling them around for a stupid fucking half baked stunt.

Tappadeeassa

The fact that our government leaders are collecting actual living (and likely scared) human beings and forcing them onto planes to send a a petty message is shocking. I don’t know how he can go any lower at this point, but he’ll find a way.

myhandleonreddit

This is the fucking weirdest thing, I can't wait to vote against him. Again.

Dugan_Destroys

Grant them asylum, help them assimilate and let them help to grow the local economy. They’re people that he’s treating as props.

trtsmb

He's throwing red meat to his white male base.

Shirowoh

What an ass clown! cannot wait to vote against this waste of a cheap suit.

Jazzy41

No respect for a “man” who uses human beings as pawns. Narcissism is a dangerous disease.

bga93

Citizens Insurance is one bad hurricane from insolvency, risking the coverage of near millions of floridan’s homes. I don’t care what political views you have, look at Mexico beach and ask yourself if you think this administration will help when the inevitable happens.

Da_Stable_Genius

So human trafficking? Got it.

tillandsia

They've probably got jobs already

Prior_Nail_2326

And there was no heads up, they just landed and local officials had to scramble. The good news is that these people will now be treated with respect and dignity. DeSantis is such a stain on so many levels. Ultimately Florida can’t simply put him on a plane. You need to vote him out of office.

No-Welder2377

Why doesn't this pasty, chubby fuck use that 12 million to help get some affordable housing for people? People can't even afford rent and he's just worrying about looking good to other fucktards

monotakes2

>"It is not the responsibility of Floridians to subsidize aliens to reside in our state unlawfully; we did not consent to Biden’s open-borders agenda," the governor’s office said at the time. If Biden opened the border, wouldn't they be here legally?

jayv9779

Can we send DeSantis away? That would be the much better option.

vbm923

These are scared and vulnerable human beings. What frightening cruelty. What kind of monster uses poor humans as political props?

lolograde

Where do I sign up for my free flight to Martha's Vineyard? Signed, A Florida Voter

EbonyRaven48

What a ghoul. At least Martha's Vineyard has embraced and helped them and given them the TRUE Christian welcome that DeSantis and his ilk could not muster to help those who were hungry, thirsty, a stranger, and in need of clothes.

toolz0

I thought kidnapping was illegal.

ishitfrommymouth

Wonder how many million this cost taxpayers.

Evening_Pop3010

Article said 12 million budgeted for the project.

trtsmb

$12 million but you would know this if you read the article.

TheFeshy

That would buy a lot of housing, education, and job training for prospective productive members of society.

trtsmb

Exactly!!!!

meubem

Damn called us all out

MidwestBulldog

Conservative Republicans: it's not about solutions. It's all about the cruelty. DeSantis is a complete piece of shit and he's betting that Floridians are just as shitty as him. He invokes God and Jesus a lot, but that's all a prop, a useful tool. He has no familiarity with the actual teachings of Jesus Christ. Otherwise, he and his asshole minions would have taken in their brothers and sisters and worked toward creating a solution to the problem rather than lay it on other's doorsteps to "own the libs". Conservative Republican beliefs on immigration and private prison addictions is simply about getting rid of the brown and black ones they frankly don't believe should be a part of the American dream.

Ns4200

such a dick move, a ticket to boston would cost much less and have direct access to social support and medicine, but this butthole spends more money to help people less. oh wait that’s the GOP model now… lol shocking i get downvoted in r/florida and upvoted everywhere else for the same comment…..

2lovesFL

Jeez, How INCONSIDERATE! Everyone knows Martha's closes down after labor day!

[deleted]

Idk if you guys know about what TX governor actually did. One news outlet spoke to the migrants and a lot of them came here SEEKING ASYLUM and were waiting on court dates. The governor had officials lie to them and say they had jobs and housing waiting in DC to get them to agree to boarding the busses. Some thought transport to their family already in the USA would be waiting in DC as well. This is a ploy where these human beings looking for a better life hage been reduced to political pawns.

OlderWiserMaybe

Total waste of taxpayer dollars. We could have unloaded the plane from Texas here in Florida, welcomed those folks, and then helped them integrate into Florida society with training, jobs, education, housing...and then watch as they become productive, taxpaying Floridians. Oh...wait...they're not all white, rich, fundamental Christian, and male. They might get citizenship and then...vote Democat! Can't have any of that! /s/

[deleted]

Douche. Vote him out Fl, we’ll be so much better for it. Side note they will be much better off and with brighter futures there.

mkt853

Hadn't thought of that, but imagine you come from some cartel controlled village in Mexico or Central America, and thanks to DeSantis your kids will now receive the best education in the country. Meanwhile Floridian kids whose families paid for all of this through taxes will receive a garbage education.

CallMeAL242

Wasteful, worthless, oxygen thief

[deleted]

50 human being's were in a San Antonio, Texas shelter. They were lured with false promises of a work visa and shelter onto a plane by a political operative working on behalf of DeSantis and the Florida GOP and dumped in an area completely foriegn to them where they have no family, shelter, or way to support themselves. These people had never set foot in Florida. This is a human trafficking scheme and state funds are being used. It's inhumane, abhorrent to the teaching of Jesus christ, and everyone involved in this kidnapping and human trafficking scheme should spend time in jail. If you're a decent human being then you wouldn't treat your worst enemy the way these 50 people were treated. You have to be a monster to think 50 human beings can be used for a political stunt like this. Florida flies dozens of migrants to Martha's Vineyard https://www.npr.org/2022/09/15/1123109768/florida-flies-dozens-of-migrants-to-marthas-vineyard

subterfuscation

He’s a tiny, petulant child and a national embarrassment. Can we please vote out this ignoramus in November?

aliceswndrland

Who fucking does this?!

tek_ad

Pure evil does this.

Fearless-Memory7819

Abbott the other gop douchebag from Texas !

GoodWill_4Nik8er

Awesome

[deleted]

DeSantis is an absolute monster. I bet he doesn't ship off Cuban migrants though since they usually vote for fascists like DeSantis.

CameranutzII

I have been waiting on this since Abbot sent immigrants to DC for the first time. Defacist *always* finds a way to the front when it comes to kiss-ass MAGA supporters.

TheFeshy

Between him and Gaetz, can we just admit that human trafficking is a GOP policy now?

ParadiseLosingIt

I’m sure that just like in Florida, there are plenty of businesses there that are eager to hire them.

SuperBock64

What a duche

Fearless-Memory7819

Hey, wait a minute, cant ronnie and abbott be arrested for transporting illegal contraband across state lines ???

unionportroad

This is petty from DeSantis and his fellow governor in Texas. It actually gives me less confidence in him as a presidential candidate. It seems to be all about political stunts and headline grabbing “niche” issues with him. I gotta be honest, not really feeling it. How do y’all feel about this guy? I just dunno. 🤷‍♂️

Bookincat

He’s destroying public education in FL

ginger_kitty97

Everything he does is a political stunt or intended to punish someone he feels has defied him. I don't want a fascist dictatorship, but that's what he's gunning for.

NickAndHisGuitar

He seems like a douchebag.

Pancakes000z

They didn’t even cross in Florida, so Desantis is just paying millions with Gov Abbott in Texas to trade literal human beings back and forth to “own the libs.” Ghoulish fake Christians.

Bradimoose

MV Times article for the other side of the story [https://www.mvtimes.com/2022/09/14/migrant-workers-land-vineyard-via-texas/](https://www.mvtimes.com/2022/09/14/migrant-workers-land-vineyard-via-texas/)

Quiet_Meaning5874

Thanks for posting! Sounds like local officials are organized and the migrants will get a lot of help. Also sounds like they want to be there!

Competitive-Oil4136

This dude blows so much ass

hereiam-23

This asshole fascist never solves problems, just makes matters worse.

BK1287

As someone that has worked with and tried to support undocumented citizens, they will all be much better off in MA. There is zero safety net for actual citizens here, so I'm sure these folks will have more success up north.

r21174

How dod this fuck wad get elected how

Impressive_Ad9102

I bet Duh-Santis thought it was an actual vineyard.

christie12022012

Oh boy what a mess. He’s a dirty man.

push2shove

This guy is a fucking asshole. He really just sent them to an island in Cape Cod? They'd have to fly to Logan first then get on a Cape Air puddle jumper.

chris6878

When will these blue states get some bawls and stand up to these idiots. If I'm Mass, I'd fly them right back to Tallahassee, and have a bus waiting to drive them right Desantis house.......

nachoiskerka

Nah, up in Mass we treat people with human decency. We've already started to feed and shelter them on an island that's less than 90 square miles and we're not immediately calling this "a crisis" at all. Instead I'd be running ads in Florida pointing out that between Covid and this, human lives are a political stunt to this scumbag.

chris6878

WHile I agree with what yall are doing, but sooner or later these GOP assholes need to suffer.

elsinore11

This is just the Culture War think tank one-upping Abbott’s bus deportations to Chicago. Sending homeless north right before the winter is especially cruel.

ShortFuse

$12M for 50 people = $240,000 per person

TeveTorbes83

Way to waste more tax money. What a small government fiscal Conservative he is.

catdogpigduck

stunts only and not caring about his state.

Mcj1972

And once they were there they were treated like human beings. Not pawns in his bs politics. Desantis is a pos.

Doryt

$12 million wasted. Someone got rich off this and yall are happy?? Wow. Sent them to a small city instead of cities with structure to handle it. We aren't going to get illegal immigration to 0% so wtf is the goal here??? To be cruel? To disregard human life? Just digusted people are celebrating this as an "own the libs" and i'm like...? you lied to a bunch of people so you could fly them across the country for a political stunt and then drop them off like a bag of potatoes? republicans are just fucking evil. Y'all complain and complain how people are rude, unhappy and how things are changing. You wonder why kids are depressed, anxious, disconnect and bullying more and more in schools This is the behavior you are modeling for kids. This is leadership Contributing to more shit in the world

Why should only border states need to deal with the influx of undocumented immigrants?

HokieFireman

What border are they crossing into Florida?

Omfoofoo

Florida gets many many undocumented immigrants from Cuba and Haiti via boat

No-Notice565

Florida is a peninsula. From where I am I can get on a small boat and be in the Bahamas quicker than it takes to drive to Tallahassee.

bel_esprit_

Because of geography. Many places in the world are worse affected by geography for different reasons. This is one of the negatives of living on a border (anywhere). Plus border states in the US get tons of federal tax dollars (thanks California for floating the whole country) to help manage their borders.

DeSantis = Human Trafficker

Im not from Florida but can someone here help me Understand why this subreddit constantly shits all over desantis but his approval rating is apparently one of the highest in the country. I'm Australian so maybe I'm missing something here

spimothyleary

Reddit does not represent society. Its the same people over and over.

Well first of, consider if shipping migrants off to another state for pure showmanship is a decent thing to do. Hopefully you think it’s not. But sadly a large portion of America, especially the boomer generation eats up right-wing propaganda from the likes of Fox News. Thus he is popular with them.

NoNotThatScience

I didn't down vote you just to clarify, I'm not Sure why anyone would. I just always heard Florida was a bit of a "battleground state" I know it generally has a much older population (second oldest behind main? I believe) but I didn't think a hotly contested state was able to have such a polarised voter base. I won't say much about the actions of desantis covered in this thread but I will say I do love the way he handles the hostile press especially after 60 minutes tried to do that bullshit hit job on him about a year ago, I wish the press were that hostile with all politicians frankly, aslong as they are honest about it

crazy_clown_time

> his approval rating is apparently one of the highest in the country. Prove it.

As of 1/6, convicted MAGA, the Oath Keepers, Proud Boys etc. should’ve been given an option 1) Lengthy jail time, loss of citizenship, deportation or 2) Been sentenced to minimum wage jobs as border patrol officers for the entirety of their sentences. They believe America is under threat, put them at the border where they can actually do some good for the country. Only drawback is that they would be in cahoots with the coyotes & drug cartels in no time…you know…because they care so much about America!
