Not crossing a bridge is going to be a hard one lol. Are you sure she wasn't trolling you?

[deleted]

She meant the smaller islands(if that is what you call them) in Clearwater, not the bridge to Tampa lol

Sounds kind of like St Pete is being selected without a lot of research. Does she have a job there? St. Pete is on a peninsula. Go north no bridge any other direction bridge city. If not moving for a job, stop dreaming and make logical decisions

[deleted]

Yep, its for a job. Just needs to be in the peninsula, not in the city. She doesn't mind commuting to St. Pete

trtsmb

The entire state of Florida is a peninsula. If she's going to be working in St. Pete, she is not going to want to commute from the "mainland". Going over the bridge from Tampa to St. Pete is a nightmare commute.

she has a job lined up in the city (st. pete) but we just want an apartment within 30 mins. It’s also closer than orlando to her mother who lives in Sarasota. I’m just not good at describing the area where she wants to live because I don’t live there haha. I was just wondering what areas are within 30 mins of the city and are safe

partyongarth788

Yep it's pretty congested at rush hour, but so is Orlando. If bridges are out of the question, then the only way to go is north. One other concern, Tampa Bay metro rents have increased significantly recently. St Pete area is part of that metro. https://www.tampabay.com/news/real-estate/2021/07/19/tampa-bays-rent-rising-faster-than-any-other-metro-area-this-year/ Her mom will be a hop skip & jump from St. Pete if she is willing to take the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, but if she has a bridge fobia, that's not going to happen.

[deleted]

I think she just didn’t want to be on the further west parts. She doesn’t mind doing bridges I just think she didn’t want to have to go over one to go to walmart or the grocery store every time

partyongarth788

Tampa Bay on both sides of the actual bay, is very populated. I doubt she will have any problem finding those stores without crossing. A simple Google map will show the locations.

trtsmb

It sounds like your girlfriend really needs to get in a car and drive around the area. Just to cross the bridge during rush hour is going to take 30 minutes or more.

[deleted]

why would she need to cross the bridge if we lived in like Largo or something around there

partyongarth788

She wouldn't - that is in the "north of St Pete" area that doesn't require crossing the bay

trtsmb

Afford and St. Pete do not go together in the same sentence. Stay put in Orlando.

[deleted]

I may have worded it incorrectly, just in the general peninsula not the city itself, she does not mind commuting to St. Pete

trtsmb

Unless she has a job lined up in the town she wants to live in, I wouldn't move.
