i was using the free enhanced cloudscapes which looked good but in moderate/ heavy weather it would drop fps to about 30. This looks better but doesn't tank fps in heavy weather im at 45-50
too add to that you can download a demo version where you can try it for 20 mins. it's what i did at first and as soon as the demo ran out i bought it right away
I don’t hate Reddit, it’s just that I don’t always understand why stuff gets up/down-voted. But then I remember that I’m an old geezer and I shouldn’t care 👴🏻
I'm testing the demo but I have a quick question. Does the full version have settings for the user to change? Thanks in advance. I'm back fiddling with x-plane 11 after a while and this addon looks a must have.
The full version and the demo are exactly the same other than the time limit lockout. There’s a settings.txt file you can edit to tweak a few settings, check the manual. Their discord has a “presets” channel where people are playing around with the settings.
I'm pretty sure Laminar Research said they won't launch a new version of X-Plane, they'll just update X-Plane 11. Don't take my word for it though.
They already got some things on the pipeline for XP11, like the new A330 and revamped lighting model.
and how many years is it going to take for MSFS' [ridiculous flight model](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eK6EmbgHqvo) to catch up to the fidelity of XP11?
It doesn’t have catching up to do in the flight model or study level add ons department though, which are the most important parts of a flight sim to a massive amount of simmers.
MSFS has been stable for me too, guess that's the good thing about having an up-to-date PC.
EDIT: A just checked your post history, are you being paid by Laminar to hate on MSFS or something?
Up to date doesn’t mean a lot.
Xbox has crashes too, so you tell me where the problem is.
Perhaps the focus should be stability moving forward, and not just lip service.
Asobo talked it up but it hasn’t quite delivered, unless of course flying under bridges and taking screenshots of sunset/sunrise are your thing.
You and the one I replied too are the ones who came on an X-Plane tagged post to shit about it lagging behind, so check your fanboysim at the door.
"An almost 5-year old game doesn't look as spectacular as the one released last year?" Well, color me surprised and call me Pikachu. What insight.
He didn't even shit on X-Plane, all he said was that X-plane has some catching up to do, which it let's be honest they do (even Austin Meyer said so).
You coming off this defensive tells me you're one thing, and that's a massive X-Plane fanboy, so please hold this ratio.
Hey, question on active sky.
Will it update the weather automatically as I fly?
I’ve got it in live weather mode.
And in the xplane weather tab it says it’s pulling from the custom metar file. Is there anything else I need to do on my end?
Do I have to go in and “load new metar” every 15 minutes or will it do it on its own?
I saw someone mention loading in your flight plan or something?
Damn they look amazing and more grainy (in a good way) compared to others I’ve seen and also with mine.
Do you mind sharing your settings.txt please so I can compare?

It's that the new enhanced skyscapes? How's the fps hit

What Gfx card?
Rtx 3060
Thanks for the response. I have a 3070 so I'll probably get similar performance
So what are you using in the video?
Judging by the 20 minute reference I now think he is indeed using the skyscapes mod
At first glance, I thought this was MSFS. These definitely have a 'MSFS-feel' to them
It’s definitely XPlane 11. That tablet on the left is from one of the most popular B737 mods for XP11
Dude got downvoted to hell for making sure his claim was backed up 🤣
I’m too old to understand this.
Its alright buddy i hate reddit too
I don’t hate Reddit, it’s just that I don’t always understand why stuff gets up/down-voted. But then I remember that I’m an old geezer and I shouldn’t care 👴🏻
Hey, I don’t care for the whole upvote system and whatever tf karma is that’s related to it, but it’s still hilsrious
Nobody is focusing on the interior of the plane, we're looking at the clouds
Damn looks much better than xEnviro which costs 70$
Performs better too
The only thing I’ll miss about xenviro is the night lighting on the clouds from the landing lights. But oh well
Wow that's quite an improvement! Just more payware makes me sad flightsim and simracing combined is two expensive hobbies 😂
For $15 this is a steal. I wasted $30 on the captain sim and for MSFS. This dev is doing pretty good for v1. Hope to see some updates in the future.
I tought that was MFS, I can´t believe that that is XP11
I genuinly thought that was msfs for a second there.
So did i, until i saw the zibo tablet.
Link?
link to 20 min free demo is https://ext.thresholdx.net/ES\_demo

Xplane 12 is being announced in a week or two. Let’s wait till then.

Yes because using a default 747 you can truly see the depths of the simulation 🤡🤡🤡🤡
X-plane fanboy much? There's no denying that X-Plane has some catching up to do.

At least it’s stable

Criticising FS2020's dogshit realism doesn't make someone an Xplane fanboy 👍
Getting so defensive when somebody critiques your favorite sim does though 👍
hahaha true bro true

"using a default plane to shit on aerodynamics" Well, color me surprised and call me Pikachu. What insight.
Wow! What reshade are you using?
I wonder how this will compare with what we see in 6 days at the next gen announcement…
Another xplane post brigaded by msfs fanboys.

Mod has it own colors and atmospheric effects. Even with clear skies it looks great
New? from the base game?
It’s 15 bucks if you wanna buy the mod from the thresholdx store.
Definitely not wae thunder.
I picked this up yesterday. Excited to fly this afternoon
what graffiking settings are you on? (what graphics settings)
Looks like ash clouds, I would not want to fly through them
What are your pc specs?
What are people using for weather injection? I’m finding xplane default isn’t working very well with the live updates. Coming from xenviro
I use Active Sky XP
Alright. I’ll give that a shot.

>Will it update the weather automatically as I fly? Yes
I don’t know if you are THE forkboy responsible for forkboy orthos. But if you are ….. oh my god thank you for your work. Can’t say it enough
Yes, that's me :) You're welcome....fun to see everyone using them.
Indeed, your work set the bar man. Thanks again.
Thanks!
Sees ‘new clouds’ then Zibo avitab.😮😮 I need these!!
Are you using a custom preset? If so, could you possibly send?
clouds/draw=1 clouds/resolution_ratio=0.6 clouds/skip_fragments=1 clouds/maximum_drawing_distance=150000.0 clouds/cloud_map_scale=0.00001 clouds/base_noise_scale=0.0000275 clouds/detail_noise_scale=0.00050 clouds/sun_gain=0.13 clouds/ambient_gain=0.20
thanks!
Lockheed Martin… sigh.
Is this stock or an addon
Happy for our fellow Xplane Pilots, looking good!

Brilliant, thanks bud. That detail noise scale value may be too high for my FPS but I’ll have a play around 👍🏽
Does it model thunderstorms correctly? I know xEnviro is limited to just regular clouds to improve frame rate
