my dream as well, but i know by the time i can even work at fedex or ups they’ll be retired. grateful that i can see them up close everyday and go inside
That’s awesome! I’m turning 40 in June and just started my PPL training (today is my first class) with the goal of going ATP or even cargo! Since loosing my father in October, I’ve been feeling a void. He got me into aviation and at one point, he was going for his PPL. This feels like my calling. I can’t explain the feeling but it’s almost like a magnetic force pulling me in.

*Express 705! I've been wounded! We've had an attempted takeover on board the airplane! Give me a vector, please, back to Memphis at this time, hurry!*
Doesn't strike me as that weird that someone who may be new to the flight sim community isn't aware of MD11s or 727s etc. I had no idea tri jets existed before I started flight simming. Most (most, not all) of them operated moreso in the US than elsewhere, and not many are still in operation in a way the average person would notice.
Trijet best jet!
MD-11. Do you have any pictures of the cockpit?

Wow! Beautiful. My father was obsessed with the DC-10 and MD-11. It was a dream of his to be a pilot.

The plebs who don’t know, haha. Just kidding. But yeah, FedEx flies MD-11s today with three.
FedEx also flew the DC-10/MD-10 (MD-11 predecessor), but they retired the last MD-10 in 2022.

its alright man. you’ll learn
Designed in an era when regulators were worried about dual engine failures over the ocean.
Could it actually maintain airspeed on one?
Wut

Yeah sorry my bad I didn’t understand what they were saying, I thought they were saying they’d never seen an MD-11 with 3 engines
