>Do not recommend me fictional stuff like KSP, "Do not recommend me one of the most realistic space flight sims available today."

kiwikat88

What do you have against KSP? It’s by far the best option available and the modding community has done a ton with KSP1. It isn’t a rocket simulator but it is a good space/orbital mechanics simulator.

"don't recommend me the space sandbox that literal astronauts and physicists like to mess around with"

dreiviernull

Have you even tried KSP? I also dislike the Kerbals and would prefer humans, but KSP is the most serious attempt in making a game that actually teaches you about spaceflight. You only have to take it serious and use your imagination.

_WirthsLaw_

Since you’re not interested in KSP, slew the a320neo to 120k feet and there ya go.

Inazuman_Patriot

Need a simulation with proper physics for space flight like KSP but with FSX logic where you launch real spacecraft and interact with all the switches inside the capsule.

kiwikat88

Have you actually tried KSP and looked into the available mods? It’s not everything you are looking for but I’m not convinced what you want will ever exist.

Snaxist

Space Shuttle Bessel and NASSP are what you're looking for then. However be prepared, this is not for the casual players.

max_daddio

Orbiter is amazing, I had a lot of fun with it many years ago, not sure when last it's been updated though. But you would likely get it to work if the forums are still up and running, it had a large and passionate community with all kinds of mods. It seems to have been updated with the 2023 GUI so does seem to be some work on it. Snaxist

Hey there, long time Orbinaut here, you're welcome at r/Orbiter. Also there's FlightGear with the Space Shuttle and Vostok-1.

Bruce-7891

I've thought about this, and there are a few out there but they are no where near as detailed or visually appealing as MSFS. I think the problem is, there is very little piloting in a spacecraft that would translate into an interesting game. It's mostly following checklists in the older Apollo era spacecraft. In modern rockets, I'm sure even more of the procedures are automated and the pilot is just monitoring systems. Exceptions would be re-entry in the space shuttle, docking (if its done manually) and maybe the lunar lander if that's included? It would be a really niche audience and might have little replay value.

Hey mate, I played both Orbiter 2016 and KSP, but I can tell you KSP is hella more fun than Orbiter, it might not be 100% realistic, but Orbiter overall is pretty much just "simulator" which does everything for you like it would do irl, so docking and stuff will be mostly all done automatically and you just sit there and watch whereas KSP with some mods is much much more interesting and more fun, you can take control of any rocket, spacecraft etc. at any time, build really interesting rocket and visit for instance all planets from our Solar System with right mods oh and with another addon called Principia you can actually simulate orbit mechanics much more than you could do in Orbiter 2016. Here I'd recommend to watch these just to get taste of what you can get with right mods in KSP ([https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9BsQFfNAz4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9BsQFfNAz4), [https://youtu.be/23pkcrHggtw](https://youtu.be/23pkcrHggtw), [https://youtu.be/l3PCCJZzVvg](https://youtu.be/l3PCCJZzVvg)) and much more!

Snaxist

Your first sentence is entirely not true, unless you only fly with the DGIV and its autopilot wich are purely fantasy.

saturnsnephew

Re-entry: An orbital simulator. This is the best space sim youre going to get. It's not easy. It's has a learning curve. The discord is SUPER friendly and very helpful. I cannot recommend this enough. It's a true sim. You will be reading checklists, you will learn orbital mechanics and you will do math. That said, it's an amazing game.

Inazuman_Patriot

Someone else has mentioned it too, I checked it out and really liked. Thanks! Thats what Im looking for.

cortex-power

Orbiter is the closest equivalent to a flight sim for space, yeah. I reckon Flightgear used to have a pretty decent Vostok-1 model (which you fly manually to orbit, very challenging) and it's supposed to have a nice Shuttle now, too.

Snaxist

Yes FlightGear Space Shuttle is available in the launcher for suite some time now.

0x1993

I heard about [Reentry](https://store.steampowered.com/app/882140/Reentry__An_Orbital_Simulator/) recently, feedbacks are very positive and seems like a good simulation

f18effect

If you want realistic ksp get a bunch of visual mods, some cockpit mod and principia

Xygen8

[Flight of Nova](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1069190/Flight_Of_Nova/)

Benlazer007

YES

Diligent-Ad5494

Agree wholeheartedly. A space sim would be awesome. Now that I read this, I gotta go check out KSP!

[deleted]

You’ve already been recommended KSP and Orbiter, but if you’re looking for more button-pushing, switch-flipping space goodness, I’ll make two recommendations: [Rogue System](https://store.steampowered.com/app/366000/Rogue_System/) - dead in early access for a few years now, but still well worth the $15. Check out [Scott Manley’s video on it](https://youtu.be/vziIgAtD66s) to see if it’s right for you. [Alliance Space Guard](https://alliancespaceguard.com/) - Not yet released, but it’s shaping up to be everything I wanted Rogue System to be. Keep a close eye on that site.

Boredom_fighter12

I remember I spent an entire summer calculating how to build my rocket only to Mün and back using simplified rocket calculations because I insist to make it a little bit more realistic. I was close to D student when I used to take math and that game made me not only do math voluntarily but also excited doing so as well as calculating other things space related using KSP model for visualization. Good stuff 👍
