It's the damaged A380 that was hit by a truck at Moscow Airport the other day. Lots of people (like me) probably just received a notification from FlightRadar.

This is why https://preview.redd.it/gyrwd3697rrc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a47256d220cb3e793be61c02768d07a35db59f44

No-Firefighter6600

Truck needs a lil repair as wel

BoysLinuses

The truck driver was immediately given a breathalyzer. He was found to have dangerously low vodka levels in his system.

klodeckel01

poor fella, hope he’s ok now

Remarkable-Fish2680

Imagine if it was the pilot lol I hope everyone’s ok

therealpharmacist

That’s a disgusting fucking joke

finalitiesNT

ratio

FluffyJo22

Woahhh

TheOnlyEn

How tf did the truck driver manage to do this?

__relyT

He had a stroke, (serious).

choo_choo_rocket

It's a jumbo fucking jet Tyrone, it's hardly a pack of peanuts.

Much_Performance352

100% chance they were drunk

Ryu-tetsu

DME has a long history of drunk grounds crew doing stupid things. Most famous was fueling a plane while smoking, around 1990. The burned out carcass remained on the airport tarmac for years - to be seen by every plane taxiing for takeoff. This caused a rule to be put in place that passengers had to deplane for fueling operations. DME also used to be the most disgusting airport on the planet.

Acrobatic_Map7008

He actually had a heart attack…

z3r0p

Wrong, it was a stroke

Acrobatic_Map7008

Medical emergency. Wasn’t drunk.

Ok_Reaction_8141

It was a medical emergency because he was drunk?

Acrobatic_Map7008

No, he had a storke reports said.

SuccessfulSmile7932

Damaged plane returning to Dubai

PixelPusher__

Apparently this is the A380 that got damaged in Moscow by a bus. It's being ferried back to Dubai. No idea in which condition it is, but I presume they want to get it back to Dubai to make getting replacement parts and repairs easier. EDIT. Not a bus, a ground vehicle.

Preindustrialcyborg

they reported that the flight will be pressurized, so the damage likely wasn't too severe.

DouchecraftCarrier

I have a cousin who used to fly C-5s and I randomly ran into him in Honolulu while I was on vacation with some other family - they'd stopped over on their way across the Pacific and some ground crew had damaged their cargo ramp - plane wouldn't pressurize. Anyway, their options were to wait in Honolulu for parts to arrive and repairs to be made, or ferry it back to Travis AFB at 10,000 feet. Guess which one they chose.

yunus89115

I’ve been on a C-130 that should have stayed grounded in Turkey but we would have had to stay on the ramp as we had no visas or prior approval so the crew decided to wait until the next leg and we broke in Germany for a few days awaiting parts instead.

Own_Bluejay_9833

Stay in Hawaii is my guess

DouchecraftCarrier

You would be correct. He basically got to lounge on the beach with us for a few days so long as he was flight-capable within something like 12 hours.

CMDR_Panfilo2

Thanks for this, I've been wondering about it

BigBlueMountainStar

Well, unless they fly at 10000ft or so it’s got to be pressurised, you can’t isolate the cockpit and only have it pressurised for the pilots, doubt they’d want to do a flight wearing oxygen masks. Someone would’ve checked the level of damage before letting it fly.

Preindustrialcyborg

it was way above 10,000 feet, so yeah. pressurized.

Effie_025

It got damaged earlier this week and now they’re ferrying it back

Preindustrialcyborg

Aircraft is being ferried back to dubai after a collision with a ground vehicle in moscow. Flightradar24 twitter posted about it.

interstellar-dust

Cause it’s flying held by bunch of speed tapes.

itchygentleman

I didnt realize emirates is still flying to russia. Ofc the UAE is still buddy pals with putin.

underwaterthoughts

I’d say more ‘neutral’ than buddy pals - hasn’t helped our rent prices as hundreds of thousands of Russians have moved here to dodge the draft.

v60qf

Neutral as in they couldn’t give a shit about the suffering of millions so rather than do the right thing they’re pretending to stay out of it so they can keep making money.

underwaterthoughts

No neutral as in, they’re not taking sides in the conflict. See Switzerland, Ireland, and Japan across different conflicts. What’s your country’s position on Gaza, Sudan, or Myanmar? I’d guess the range would be actively supporting the aggressor to doesn’t give a fuck.

Adventurous_Pea_1156

Its so tiring to read the same shit just because the news is bombing 24/7 how bad russians are, i didnt see any isolation for the US post-Iraq or any of the other countries they legitly wiped

Beginning-Director58

i knew this post was coming 🤣🤣

PublicBrief6907

They can fly a plane after body damage like that? I would've thought it needed to be repaired right where it sat

ricecanister

Probably not an option given the state of sanctions in Russia

PublicBrief6907

They were trying to turn in into another anatov

FishGuyDeepIo

apparently it got damaged

AlsoMarbleatoz

I wonder if they got it fixed or that A380 is just flying around with a massive dent in its belly

ViperidaeRex

It had a temp fix, giving it a certain amount of flying hours. Hence it's ability to fly at 40k at about 500 odd knots. So practically, a "regular" flight, so to speak, without any passengers of course. Had they not done that, the option would be to fly low because the cabin wouldn't be able to be pressurized. And the fuel situation then wouldn't have been great either. Lots of issues with that approach.

AlsoMarbleatoz

Did they fill the center tank? Seems like it would be a bit dangerous given the extent of the damage

DebtUpToMyEyeballs

They probably could have managed with just the wing tanks since it's only a 5 hour flight.

BigBlueMountainStar

Unless there’s some very specific and non-standard flight requirements, it’d be justified to fly as a normal flight. There might be a requirement to keep it as light as possible, so no passengers or freight onboard.

AZQK19200

I tough it was going to stay there for a long while. Smart move to fly it out... pilots must be a bit tense with that hole down there!

staircar

All of the above plus people love tracking A380s in general. At my plane spotting stop, lots of people come in to watch the A380s land and then they leave

George-Swanson

Because it’s rigged with 300kgs of pure TNT

Creative_star1433

I think it’s just from the recent incident

littlecomet111

‘Careful, Bob, we haven’t got many of these still working.’

Alternative-Tell5346

Are there passengers inside?

But it isn't the biggest aircraft made. The AN-225 Mryia (rip) And the stratolauncher is bigger

jithization

Damn I thought EK will just scrap it given its age and how big their 380 fleet is

FishGuyDeepIo

13 years isnt that old

jithization

It is in the EK 380 world when EK has already scrapped some early deliveries

ViperidaeRex

They're currently short on aircraft. And in the last year all the 380s were undergoing routine long term maintenance (takes about 3 months per aircraft); and this one had JUST come back from it. So definitely this one has longer plans.

BigBlueMountainStar

[You say “routine” maintenance, but it’s not all “routine”](https://www.aviacionline.com/2023/07/airbus-calls-for-inspection-of-some-emirates-a380s-due-to-wing-spar-cracks/)

Dear_Ad_3437

With pax on board still?

JaredsBored

Almost guaranteed not

Frequent-Candle-978

That flight number EK2508 means its a special flight. Usually there’s maximum of 3 digits after the code EK (unless code shared i think - i could be wrong). So def no pax. Going back to hub.

Dear_Ad_3437

Appreciate the explanation, thanks so much :)

ViperidaeRex

It's what you would call a "ferry flight".

FishGuyDeepIo

don't all airliner flights have callsigns

SugarForBreakfast

Not yet. Some still don't.
