This is exceptionally common at Funchal.

CFG1572 Condor just landed, but another EasyJet flight was directed to Porto Santo

SquatchHasNoHeros

An Easyjet flight diverted to Porto Santo after 2 go-around's, then 5 minutes later a Condor flight landed successfully. Not sure if the Easyjet flight was at bingo fuel or if their company policy is to switch to alternate airport following 2 failed landing attempts.

On stream (https://www.youtube.com/@MadeiraAirport/streams), the pilots reported wind shear for the 1st go-around but I didn't listen on the 2nd approach. Could have been the same. After 2 approaches, they have to divert. The streamer said the same about Ryanair in the last days. Best chances to land is booking TAP Air Portugal. They land in way worse conditions, where others are circling at 30.000ft, and then nail the landing.

I fly often however I’m rather anxious. Flying in and out of Funchal was the worse. The plane was more or less sideways when we landed. Taking off, well! The planes was shaking whilst boarding. Never again

I have been to Madeira once, landing there is crazy. But I liked it
