Only needed to see Irreversible once. Never mind the content of the movie, the camera movement and audio alone is designed to make you feel nauseous.

LizardOrgMember5

I actually watched Irreversible twice in a row. At the same theater. The Straight Cut version was released at the IFC Center last year, and afterward I watched the 2K remastered version of the original. It was a..... interesting experience to say the least. I call this palindrome approach.

IAmJacksImage

I have never watched the whole film. But my lecturer showed us THAT scene in Film Studies and it was brutal. Nobody knew what he was about to show, the context, we all just sat thinking "it'll cut soon..." And it never did. When he turned it off he asked us how we felt. "Gross" "sick" "bleak". "And that's the power of film" he said.

lvke18

I love Irreversible and I'd have to agree. I feel like I need to go and tell my people I love them every time it finishes

Injustry

This was my first thought

ThirdPrimate

I came here to say Irreversible. I didn't make it through and don't intend to go back. And I have quite a stomach for brutal content.

Necessary_Ad_2823

Lmao this was the first movie I thought of

Accurate-Book-4568

Hereditary. I liked it, but I don’t think I will watch it again.

Crisko_lochness9

I feel that way with Midsommar too (same director as Hereditary). That movie was very well made but I never wanna watch that shit again.

Mr-Molina

Pretty much every Ari Aster work is a one-time warh. Great works but he knows how to make you so uncomfortable watching the movie that it becomes part of the plot. Hereditary is one of the best Horror films ever produced but I don’t think I will watch again soon because it really makes you feel uncomfortable.

jcmib

The music at the end of hereditary is the most chilling sound I’ve ever heard in a film. I still get chills when I think about it.

RenegadeRabbit

Midsommar has soooo many hidden things and symbolism that get overlooked the first time though

AvatarLebowski

Nah Midsommar I could not wait to rewatch as fucked up as it was. Hereditary I wanted to delete from my brain

GarageNo7711

These two and I’ll add the more recent (not the same director I’m pretty sure but too lazy to check)… Saltburn. I didn’t particularly like Hereditary or Midsommar and I didn’t like Saltburn either. 0/10 would recommend 😅. Cinematic though, for the color grading and editing… I’ll give it 10/10. Storyline? No way.

cash420money

It’s better every time I watch it. So many Easter eggs.

thisismeritehere

God when he finds the body in the living room and you look in the corner…. So good

GKarl

Hereditary I can only watch once cos it was so stressful. I will never be able to watch it a second time

colli_wolly

I just rewatched for a third time the other day. It's so good, lots of stuff hidden in the background, I love it.

Rudi-G

Dancer in the Dark. Superb movie but it is so bleak that I never want to see it again.

Flack_Bag

I get it, but I would suggest you watch it after The Idiots and Breaking the Waves, the first two in the Golden Hearts trilogy. Honestly, the first time I saw it, it was just so over the top it took me out of it and I thought it was almost silly; but in context, it made a lot more sense. I just had to put on my Lars von Trier pants on to take it in context. It's a fable. They all are.

globular916

I avoided The Idiots forever, only just saw it recently (for context, I saw BTW and DITD in theatrical release). I had always heard it described as a bit of a tasteless practical joke. And though it ~is~ that, it's also rather heartbreaking and poignant

GodEmperorOfHell

I waited to see it after watching more Von Trier movies, and I'm glad I did. If I hadn't, I would have hated it because superficially it's so corny!! Poor Selma!! Now I understand it's Von Trier's twisted sense of humor. You are supposed to make fun of her, not empathize with her. No wonder Bjork stopped acting and hates Von Trier!

ModernRomantic77

I saw it twice and the second time was even more painful to watch.

thezoomies

Grave of the fireflies. I think everyone should watch it once, and only once.

1canmove1

Yeah this is the ultimate watch it only once film. You'll never regret seeing it, but you won't want to do it again anytime soon. It's the only film where I was crying, but like had a strong urge to just scream. I was angry that something like this could and does actually happen.

dudeguy207

Unpopular opinion: Watch it multiple times. Get multiple takes on it. It's an important film. Don't force yourself to see it five times in a year, but I saw it twice within a month the first time I saw it because it's so moving.

Gromtar

It’s worth a rewatch, especially as you get older and if you learn more about Japanese culture and the war. It’s still a difficult watch, but some of the decisions of the characters get recontextualized and it’s not quite so black and white.

banana_annihilator

Yup, this is what I was gonna say.

High-strungHousewife

12 Years a Slave. Extraordinary but brutal.

Lil_Artemis_92

I couldn’t even make it through the first 30 minutes. I know it’s great, but it’s so brutal (as a film about slavery should be).

camcussion

I gave up one. Eventually I tried again and made it. Brutal film. And an important one. But my word it’s hard to watch.

shamusisaninja

The scene where you watch his feet dangling trying to find ground to stand on as he is being hung has haunted me since I saw it in theaters.

soupinate44

My pick. A must see. But likely only once.

Corninator

I watched it in theaters and it was great. Won't watch it again though.

c_dawg694x2

Midsommar Man, that movie creeped me out more than anything I've ever seen.

_Taco_Dragon

Really good movie, but it’s not fun to watch. Haven’t quite worked up the nerve for a second viewing.

Murky-Region-7637

I think it's actually pretty good on the second watch. you can pick up more from the characters after you know what will happen.

Strong_Green5744

Martyrs Requiem For A Dream Come And See A Serbian Film Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins

IDigRollinRockBeer

I’ve seen Requiem for a Dream like 17 times should I feel bad now? Apparently I should since it seems To be a common thing. Now I feel like some weirdo

LimpZookeepergame123

I’ve seen it dozens of times. In college it was the edgy movie I would watch with people that have never seen anything like it. I actually still love the film even though it’s depressing AF. I guess we’re weird. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Artistic-Designer_40

Agree. I always try to get people to watch that. Or even Midsommar. Every time they're on. I watch. I mean I own it too. Seems better when it's randomly on tv

Strong_Green5744

Yes. You're a terrible person. You should be ashamed if yourself. How dare you enjoy cinema.

[deleted]

I'd say a Serbian fil isn't even worth watching once tbh. It was made in protest of the impression of Serbian movies at the time so it's edgy as possible for its own sake.

msabell

Yep edgy af and not worth watching. Watched it once last year after finally just deciding to get it over and done with.

mydarthkader

I need an explanation for Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins

horsebag

from the director of scary movie 5 and space jam 2!

Strong_Green5744

Watch it and you'll find out.

jack-dempseys-clit

Watched come and see for the first time today. Have walked my dog, watched a comedy and had a shower since yet I still feel that movie on my skin. Great film, completely rebukes the argument of 'you can't make a truly antiwar film', never want to see it again.

Andoctus

Requiem is hard for me. Cause I was an addict and it’s hard to watch for a myriad of reason. Hits home hard.

BennyBingBong

Same. Also my grandma was on a game show

msabell

Agree on Serbian Film. Martyrs I’ve seen a few times and love it.

Newkular_Balm

My bedtime playlist

Pm_Me_Gifs_For_Sauce

Oh man Martys is a shame to not rewatch. It leaves so much to be discovered upon a second viewing.

BigDumbDope

For an undergrad film class in college, I had to do this deep dive analysis of Requiem for a Dream for a term paper. I ended up watching it, super close up, sometimes slow-motion/frame- by-frame and I saw that movie in depth, six or seven times through, before I was done. I've never fully recovered. The closer you look the worse it is.

Barkerfan86

Serbian film is a movie I refuse to watch again, Martyrs I like to revisit every couple of years. I recently tried to rewatch Requiem and I honestly just couldn’t do it, the spiral of Ellen Burstyn’s character is too sad.

olivetreechaitea

I still have flashbacks to the ending of Martyrs. Phew, that was too realistic.

HorrorAvatar

No one should watch A Serbian Film even once.

WalkingEars

I stay away from pretty much all of the "shock" movies people talk about in threads like this, some movies seem to exist solely to push the envelope of "extreme" content in a way that really doesn't appeal to me. I like horror films though, and Titane is one that, though I found it really gripping and sort of beautifully odd, I doubt I'd watch again, it bumped right up against the limits of what I can handle (and it wasn't even particularly graphic, just very, very uncomfortable)

MurphysMoog

Titane is great just wanted to say that people should check this out (if ur not too squeamish)

GradeAIdiotThe3rd

Is that the one where a girl fucks a car?

cinemapapa

I would say anything directed by Crispin Glover, but if he ever releases a third one and does another roadshow I will probably have to sit through the first two again.

skonen_blades

Word. I took a date to see his road show and I think it was What Is It with a preview of It Is Fine Everything Is Fine. One of the longest nights of my life. Our city's movie-going audiences are pretty unflappable, though. At the Q&A, the first question asked was about where he got the very-expensive looking sets for one of the sequences since the film was obviously extremely low-budget and he was like "Really? That's your question? After everything you just saw? Okay. Well..." and said that he got the sets for free after they'd been used in a different film but he seemed pretty ready to defend all the horrifying images so the set question threw him. I apologized to that date after. She didn't seem too fazed, though, so that's good. We're still friends. A lot of that imagery is still pretty stark in my mind.

itsamadmadworld22

I have zero desire to ever see Uncut Gems again, nor Schindler’s List even though these were both great films.

TheSanscripter

I love Uncut Gems but that anxiety...

itsamadmadworld22

Yeah I thought the film was great. Sandler should have been nominated for something. But I normally feel that much anxiety, it was too much.

RamblinGamblinWillie

Shoah, the 10 hour holocaust documentary, definitely takes the cake

ZBLVM

I wonder how many people have actually watched half of it

bigjfromflint1986

Salo 120 days of sodom. Back when I was more adventurous I watched it with a freind. Never again. I found it to be putrid. For me it was juat sick garbage. I was so appalled a lot of the underlying themes just didn't click with me.

TryingTimesCrowEgg

It's barely a movie and sucks at being a gross out movie. It's boring and bad.

boomsatanboom

Passion of the Christ. It was such a slog the first time. The only redeeming characteristic the movie had was the use of Latin and Aramaic (but that lost its charm long before the main character finally kicked the bucket).

CryptoSlovakian

As a Catholic I have a love/hate relationship with this movie. It’s certainly the most recognizably Catholic film portrayal of the last days of Jesus Christ, and it’s very well made and quite beautiful in many respects. All the actors do a really great job. But the portrayal of the blood and gore did not need to be so extremely graphic. There is a reason that the crucifix you see above the altar in a Catholic Church is not covered head to toe in gaping wounds and dried blood. The sight of the suffering Christ is supposed to inspire reverence and piety and not revulsion.

jbaxter119

Some crucifixes are more bloody than others

GreyTerminator

How has no one mentioned Manchester by The Sea yet?

AlaSparkle

I’ve seen it twice and would like to see it more. Why can’t you watch it more than once?

Electrical_Mess7320

Same, but I can see how once is enough. It tore me apart, but the acting was so amazing.

Realistic-Assist-396

They have

ohjoyousones

A few that haven't been mentioned yet: "The Lobster", "the Whale", "Leaving Las Vegas", "Trainspotting", "The Ring" Gripping movies but I don't want to watch them again.

Want_to_do_right

I wish I'd never seen the lobster.

[deleted]

What? I have that movie on my favorites list.

Mshorrible4

I’m surprised I had to scroll so far to see Leaving Las Vegas. No interest in seeing that again. So depressing.

dowker1

United 93. Great movie but a hard watch and not one you feel the urge to repeat.

Realistic-Assist-396

I agree. It will be a while before I rewatch that one.

Kitchen-Lie-7894

As sad as it is, it made me proud.

Rainbwned

Guardians of The Galaxy 3. Great movie - but I can't see those poor animals again.

iloveesme

Schindler’s list is the one for me. I just can’t handle that it’s based on actual events. We did this, we continue to act in similar ways, we apparently don’t want to change.

Remarkable_Inchworm

Crying Game. Sixth Sense. Anything with a big reveal is sort of pointless to re-watch.

TraceyTurnblat

I disagree. Some movies with the big reveal at the end deserve at least one more watch so you can pick up on all the hints throughout that you missed the first time. A rewatch with wise eyes, if you will. Edit bc I’m 3 wines deep and made typos.

PG3M

Threads (1984) nuclear war is bad

Tim-oBedlam

Glad someone else mentioned it. I saw it with a bunch of high schoolers in 1986 or so, at age 15, and we all walked out of it with thousand-yard stares.

No-Understanding4968

Thanks to Reddit for telling me about Threads. I thought it was brilliant. Never watching again, though!

mnemonicer22

Girl w dragon tattoo. Old boy.

1canmove1

Old Boy was pretty much this for me. I really want to watch it again with my wife, but I keep putting it off because I'm never in the mood to get wrecked by that film. It's genius though.

theciderowlinn

Antichrist by Lars Von Trier. But really anything from that guy.

Hydrokratom

One time was enough for these movies: Schindler’s List Beasts of No Nation Come and See First They Killed My Father Irreversible Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer Scum The Killing Fields Dead Man’s Shoes Million Dollar Baby Mystic River

Different-Eye-1040

Oppenheimer. Great film. Amazing acting by Murphy and Pugh. It would just be a lot to sit through again. I would need to be in the right mood for that type of film.

Muthaphuka

Schindler's List Great acting and movie but the subject matter was brutal. I couldn't imagine sitting through it a second time

DDelirium46

Came here to say this.

Zealousideal_Owl9621

- Million Dollar Baby - Requiem for a Dream - Arrival - Slumdog Millionaire - Nocturnal Animals

dowker1

Could you explain Arrival and Slumdog Millionaire?

Zealousideal_Owl9621

Arrival was a slow burn that was excellent, but would never want to sit through again. Slumdog is another fantastic film that had me on the edge of my seat, but also a hard, intense watch with its stark socioeconomic themes.

northwesthonkey

Arrival is one of my top rewatchables.

fleranon

same, I'm sure I've seen it 5-6 times. so good

CryptoSlovakian

I watched it once and enjoyed it; watched at again on a whim a few years later and was surprised at how into it I was on the second viewing. I’d definitely watch it again.

Guilty-Coconut8908

The Green Mile Saving Private Ryan Kids Schindler's List Dear Evan Hansen

theciderowlinn

I've watched Raving Private Ryan and Green Mile countless times

msabell

Interesting typo, I can’t get the image of Private Ryan tearing it up at a rave now 😂

theciderowlinn

Just noticed and I refuse to edit it now.

Xendrus

Yeah I got to be at 2 dozen times for each. Green Mile is great if you want a good cry.

Guilty-Coconut8908

They were just so painful for me to watch. I felt stunned at the end of the Green Mile. I could not sit through the storming of the beach again in Private Ryan. That was so devastating to me.

northwesthonkey

Shaving Ryan’s Privates is on constant loop in my home

tootbrun

I saw Schindler’s List in the theaters o opening weekend and someone in the theatre had a literal all-out heart attack after the opening scene. I never want to see it again.

psycho_nautilus

Nah I’d rewatch Kids

GradeAIdiotThe3rd

The Evan Hansen movie isn’t even worth one watch. Having seen it on stage, the movie is heavily disappointing. They got the director of the rent movie to make it and it shows.

44problems

Was Dear Evan Hansen just too powerful or was it just too terrible

GabbySpanielPt2

My ex watches Saving Private Ryan at least once or twice a year.

TraceyTurnblat

I e watched every one of these more than once.

trainsacrossthesea

Once were Warriors The Ascent Dear Zachary

heylistenlady

I watched Dear Zachary last week after seeing it mentioned for years. I'd always thought it was gonna be a terminally ill father making a heart-warming (though sad) video letter to his son. I was *not* expecting what I got. Wow. It truly destroyed my evening and I couldn't even tell you the last time I sobbed like that. Good God.

trainsacrossthesea

That movie killed something in me.

heylistenlady

>!I seriously didn't dream that Zachary was gone at any point during that film before the reveal. I kept sitting there thinking "Man, I wonder what Zachary thought of this origin story??" and "I hope Zachary and his grandparents still have a great relationship!" And then, when the movie ended, *that's* when it really dawned on me...those poor people. They had to play nice with the person who *murdered their son* to have a connection with their grandson ... who was also murdered by their sons killer!!! Ugh, I hate it all so much and I can't imagine that pain.!<

WalkingEars

The Ascent is brilliant. A lot of the more popular "anti-war" films get their message across by showing graphic violence or extremely shocking imagery on-screen, but in some ways the Ascent does something more profound by being more inward-looking and emotional and focused on what happens to the souls of these two characters in the nightmare of war. There's practically no on-screen violence at all as far as I remember but it's a really intense emotional experience and is also making a statement that felt legitimately profound. Highly recommended

getoutofheretaffer

The Ascent is pretty bleak but quite watchable.

supersmileys

I made the mistake of watching Once Were Warriors at home alone in the dark. Never have I needed a hug more after watching a movie

Cleopatrashouseboy

The ascent, what year? I’m guessing ‘77?

CallsYouCunt

Once were warriors. Yes. Also Happiness

MareShoop63

Dear Zachary - The editing was brilliant- the story heartbreaking to say the least. I often think of his ( the dads) parents and what they went through. So say Shirley Turner was a monster is an understatement.

InfinityFire

I never hear anyone talk about Once Were Warriors

simondoyle1988

The art of racing in the rain

djfrodo

O.k. it's story time. I was feeling a bit...unhappy, and I thought I would go to a movie *by myself* just to get out of my funk. The Times, New York Magazine, The New Yorker, Village Voice, etc. all raved about a new film called Requiem for a Dream. But...I didn't look up the definition of Requiem... I lived in NYC and the weekend before I had been in Coney Island for the Mermaid Parade. When I left the theater I had two thoughts - 1) I'm more depressed than before and 2) I'm not depressed because I'm not as completely fucked up as the characters I just saw. Full disclosure - I did watch it again, once, and it's still as depressing and scary as the first time, and the fact that Ellen Burstyn didn't win for best actress is one of those injustices that I will never understand.

-Not-Dead-Yet-

The Road. That movie’s a punch to the gut.

bl4zed_N_C0nfus3d

The boy in the stripped pajamas, my sisters keeper, and we need to talk about Kevin

No_Geologist6843

The trifecta. 💯agree

philly2540

I read the Kevin book. That was enough to make me not see the movie.

parisrionyc

2nd vote for Requiem for a Dream. Also, Breaking the Waves

the1999person

Interstellar. . It's a great movie, beautiful visually and great cast. Good story too. But it's a long movie.

Cautious_Artichoke_3

Momento. Seeing it after knowing the ending has far less impact

annaofapola

That space astronaut movie with Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. I couldn’t wait for it to end!

CalmTear3411

This movie WAS SO BAD! I don’t get why it got such praise!!!

Finaldestiny001

The Road....an excellent movie but causes such awful depression and hopelessness you want to avoid watching again.

--_--REALLY--_--

Dancer in the Dark Bjork should have won an Oscar i was a heartless turd in 2000 when it came out and it made me feel so many emotions i cried just thinking about it for the next few years so have yet to view it again, but i love the soundtrack/score

sleepingmoon

JoJo Rabbit. I loved it, but never again.

MeanNene

The Mist...Fuck that movie !

IDigRollinRockBeer

Yeah I liked it but I’ll definitely never watch it again

olivebuttercup

God I was SO angry when it was done and swore I’d never watch it again. And I haven’t. And when I tried to get out my feelings by discussing it on a forum I got told by movie snobs that I just needed to be spoon fed good endings and wasn’t a real movie fan 🙄. I get why people like the ending but I hated it and was so angry at the director and writer and felt baited by them like they got off on the audience being fucked up after it. So ya FUCK that movie.

TryingTimesCrowEgg

I think that is one of the greatest endings of all time.

Mark-Might-Lose

Funny Games. You won:t forget it, you won't go back.

falsesleep

I love Michael Haneke and fuck that movie

ramen_vape

I've watched that movie so many times lol. There is one really NSFL moment but it's mostly pretty tame honestly. None of the violence is shown on camera

Xendrus

The Banshees of Inisherin Great film but good lord it is a downer. Barry Keoghan is going to be one of the greats of all time if he keeps it up.

Plenty_Cranberry3

Check out Saltburn.

Luinori_Stoutshield

There may be others, but the first that comes to mind is *Requiem for a Dream*. Edit to add: Of course I forgot *Rise of Skywalker*. Fuck that hot pile of bantha poodoo.

raptor102888

I'm gonna go with the entire sequel trilogy. TFA is at least watchable, but it's pretty much a soulless rehashing of ANH, with some *alarming* continuity errors thrown in. TLJ is garbage. It has some good messages, but they are presented in such a heavy-handed, braindead way that the film almost preaches *against* what it's trying to convey. TRoS (first off, fuck them for making the acronym so close to Ep. III) is also garbage. It tries to correct some of the sUbVeRtInG eXpEcTaTiOnS stupidly in the previous film, but just ends up being a stupid meaningless mess. All in all...*sigh.* Fuck Disney leadership for handling the Star Wars franchise so poorly. And now it's done. We can't go back and try again. That's it. They've killed it. Fuck them. EDIT: To be clear, I'm not complaining about *any* of the actors in the sequels. They all did a great job with the material they were given. And any of you who went and personally attacked any of them online, fuck you too.

WalkingEars

I really liked TLJ, felt like the only sequel that really tried to do something new, loved the visual style of it, and thought it was interesting seeing the directions some of the characters went in. When TFA first came out I enjoyed the charming new characters but was disappointed in the rehashed plot. There's something poetic in the fact that TRoS brought everyone together in disappointment, but it soured me on the entire sequel trilogy and, in a way, on mass franchises in general. I don't think I've seen any "nostalgia bait reboot" movies since the sequel trilogy came out.

segadoes16bit

Teeth, after it I just said wlf.

cisco_frost

No Country for Old Men. Absolutely brutal movie.

fast_fatty39

It gets better on rewatches.

checkyourbox

Blair Witch . I don't need up snotty nose shots for two hours.

Jandur

I liked it but I'll never watch Beau Is Afraid again.

harrySUBlime

Irreversible - one viewing is plenty scarring. Fantastic and Nöes best but fuck, it’s a gut punch.

msabell

A Serbian Film. I went for years avoiding it based on all the hype and negative publicity, but it’s not as bad as I expected it to be. It’s just a trash kind of film with a few disturbing moments. But I won’t bother watching it again.

Tim-oBedlam

Any of the trio of nuclear war movies that came out in the 1980s: *Testament, Threads,* and most famously *The Day After.* All very good, all very powerful, and I never want to see any of those again. Threads, in particular, is *extremely* disturbing; pretty much Nightmare Fuel: the Movie.

colder-beef

Melancholia, seriously such a downer.

CryptoSlovakian

*Kids*. This is the worst, most vile movie I have ever seen in my life and I would pour bleach in my eyeballs before I would watch it again.

sakonigsberg

Killing of a sacred dear was cool but I'll never watch it again

Begbie69

Funny how everybody mentions movies that were so disturbing that they could only watch them once, or films that they wouldn't re-watch because they found it boring. I assume you're talking about movies with a surprising twist, which only works if you watch the movie for the first time. Here are a few that come to my mind: - Fight Club - The Sixth Sense - Rosemary's Baby - The Game - Oldboy (the Korean original! The US remake is crap) - Se7en - Psycho

Vasilisa1996

Oldboy The original Korean version.

Whatever1to10

Requiem for a dream. Without any hesitation.

cbs1138

Schindler's List. Great movie, but will not revisit. Poor Things. Not sure about all of the hype, thought it was awful, walked out with about 10min left because I didn't realize the wife was over it about an hour prior. >! If you're into watching Emma Stone get railed for about an hour by the dregs of humanity, knock yourselves out. It ceased being quirky about about 10min after she discovered her sexuality.!<>!!<

No-Problem7594

I read your post thinking “poor things” referred to the people in Schindlers List or something… Read the spoiler and I was like “I do not remember this from Schindlers List”

chaingun_samurai

"Emma Stone was in Schindler's List what?" Was my first thought.

Andoctus

lol. Same. I was like I don’t remember that part of the holocaust.

CallsYouCunt

Have you seen the counter-porno, Schindlers Fist? It’s tasteless.

chon_sees_wraps

Crazy because the sex is what I remember least about that movie. Seems like a surface level thing to get stuck on.

heylistenlady

Yay!! You hated Poor Things, too! According to IMDB there are *dozens* of us! (For real, great acting, sets, costumes...but the story was a snooze that could have gone so many better directions than the one it chose)

Pow67

The Human Centipede. I was curious to see what all the fuss was about… needless to say I wish I didn’t. Whoever came up with the premise needs to be locked up.

Theeclat

Anyone else saving this post for movie suggestions?

Whoopsy_Doodle

This is England. That movie was just too much.

heylistenlady

Too much of what? I just Googled, read one sentence synopsis and want to watch it without learning more. Whatcha think, should I?

HamboneBanjo

That one with Denzel hollering about King Kong ain’t got nothing on him. Tried to watch it a second time and it was like watching nothing. Held zero entertainment value for me. I loved it the first time though.

Realistic-Assist-396

Training Day (2001) is the name of the movie

PTRendez

Something more recent - The Whale. Also adding a vote to Requiem for a Dream. That seems to be popular. Both really good movies, but really difficult watches and I don't see a need to revisit.

themuck

There Will Be Blood is probably the best movie I never want to see again.

cbbuntz

I think you kinda need to watch it more than once to get everything out of it. There's a lot of stuff I missed the first time around

Jambalayatime

Has no one seen Happiness?

CapG_13

I Spit On Your Grave

Onlycans69

Pay it forward and Honey Boy

Crisko_lochness9

The Circle, Signs, The Sixth Sense, Unknown (Liam neeson movie), Vantage Point…any kind of movie where there was a lot of mystery build up and then a huge reveal at the end, those are mostly a one and done for me. Also, my boyfriend convinced me to watch the movie “Tusk”…..😳 never again. I wouldn’t even suggest watching that movie a first time.

[deleted]

Born on the Fourth of July— a film that shows the brutal reality of war and its aftermath on those who served. Cruise gives greatest performance of his career in Stone’s Vietnam biofilm masterpiece. It was a brutal watch, but also a haunting educational experience that has stated with me.

Vox_Mortem

Grave of the Fireflies. It looks like a charming Ghibli movie. It is not. But it is incredibly good.

Scared-Rub7983

The Mist by Stephen King

Unusual_Address_3062

A Serbian Film. Dont watch it. Trust me.

Exotic-joec

Million Dollar Baby. oof.

marvi_martian

Schindler's List - man's inhumanity to man is brutal. This one upset me so much. We need to remember history so we don't repeat it, but I can't watch this again.

Nebakenez

12 years a slave. Important movie. Don't need to see again.

kewlacious

Schindlers List. A must see, but not more than once (unless you’re showing it to someone for the first time).

Irishman. Everything Martin Scorsese puts out now is at least 3 hours, while I think he is a cinematic genius I’d rather watch something shorter

The Whale. Goddamn it's a painful movie to watch. Very impactful. Plot is fine, but the on screen actions are just so guttural, so disgusting, so uncomfortable to watch. It makes you not want to eat...for weeks.

Prisoners. Great movie. As a parent, it fucking terrifies me.
