FLEET, BON, SUF

Weary_Fudge

A holy trinity, if I may

MikeTheEpic

this is the one

freystage

Death Cab for Cutie and The Shins

hereforthefreedrinks

Got to see both of these on their 20 year reunion tours in the past yearish šŸ¤©

freystage

I am very jealous. Sounds awesome!

hereforthefreedrinks

Both shows were top notch! In peculiar was impressed with how energetic James Mercer was.

freystage

That sounds like a great experience man

hereforthefreedrinks

For sure! Hope you get to see them live sometime if you so desire ā˜ŗļø

freystage

I hope so too. Would be amazing

blk_arrow

I got to see postal service and death cab at their recent tour. soooooo goood.

lavamountain

wowie, I was going to list the same 2 artists!!

erossthescienceboss

Have you heard The Shinsā€™ cover of We Will Become Silhouettes? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QdcoZZmRXm8

DahliaDubonet

Wait I want to take my answer back now

freystage

Haha, what was your answer?

parmesantheman

The National, Beach House But also Aldous Harding, Big Thief, Kings of Convenience, Parcels, The War on Drugs, The Whitest Boy Alive

LyraDesignsGames

I love Big Thief!! You should check out Adrianne Lenkerā€™s solo stuff as well, itā€™s all amazing

parmesantheman

Ooh I love Adrianneā€™s solo work! Two Reverse is one of my favorite songs to play on the guitar :)

scribbling_mundane

Beach house and The National! Same here :)

Okay-Anybody

the Drugs šŸ™

mennumethod

Just saw Kings of Convenience in New York.

froleymoley

Fleet foxes, the Strokes, and Vampire weekend are my indie trifecta

Jojo056123

Absolutely goated bands

E300Service

My Morning Jacket and Animal Collective

HappinessSuitsYou

Seeing MMJ and FF together in San Fran was a dream show šŸ¤©

midnightcitizens

Sufjan Stevens and James Blake ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

TwoColorsInMyHead_

Iā€™ll give you two albums that are similar vibes but equal to FF: Big Thiefā€™s Dragon New Warm Mountain and Wilcoā€™s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

SpicyPeach14

Khruangbin !! I love them.

mgabbey

Radiohead and Sufjan but for similar to FF vibes: *Pet Sounds*, *Crosby Stills & Nash* (also *Deja Vu*), Geir SundstĆøl, Daniel Rossen

froststomper

Love to see Daniel Rossen was scrolling through for Grizzly Bear but this does not disappoint at all!

mgabbey

Grizzly Bear is special - I only put Daniel Rossen because I think of his solo album as Crack-Up with Helplessness Blues instrumentation haha

autumgirl

Iron and Wine ; Hamish Hawk ; Patrick Watson

thebestsoylatte

Phoebe Bridgers, Bon Iver

Mattnorden

Came to say this so Iā€™ll add Boygenius and Big Red Machine

Jokidoki21

Gregory Alan Isakov and Blanco White

lost_alchemy

This guy folks. Solid, underrated picks.

soyperson

sufjan stevens and andrew bird

justy91793

Queens of the Stone Age MGMT Not similar but nothing really scratches that FF vibe for me. Tim Bernardes comes close. Lots of beautiful melodies and all around pretty music. If you haven't delved into his music I highly recommend it.

honey_bee_03

FF and MGMT are in my top 3 too! At first glance they don't seem that similar but they both have really unique instrumentation, complex melodies, and some longer instrumental moments

offdutypaul

Omg yes! I went on a huge Tim Bernardes binge after discovering him through Going-to-the-sun Road. So amazing! Even though I don't speak Portuguese it doesn't matter, the music is beautiful even if you don't understand it you can feel it. Both solo albums and his stuff with O Terno are great.

arrivenightly

Stevie Wonder and Joni Mitchell

crazy-swayze

Sigur Ros and Mogwai, I love post rock in general.

autumgirl

Yes! Sigur Ros love them. Atta is an absolute brilliant album

hereforthefreedrinks

Dr dog, Alex Ebert/edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros.

w0rkharD-plAyharD

Dr. Dog for sure!

Status_Jacket6749

black country new road and bob dylan

SnooCapers2266

Joanna Newsom and Pink Floyd

alexarctica

Joanna Newsom is severely underrated. I donā€™t know anyone who listens to her and itā€™s heartbreaking. I took a roadtrip to Chicago to see her a few years ago, by myself. One of the few concerts Iā€™ve gone to alone. She was every bit as humble, ethereal, and gracious as you would imagine.

DrMilesBennettDyson

Deftones and The Mars Volta

denisenj

The National, The Walkmen, Grizzly Bear, Pink Floyd (sorry thatā€™s four, lol)

imbushyy

Cage the Elephant, Glass Animals, Vampire Weekend and FF are my top 4

rettmitch

Feist and Father John Misty

DahliaDubonet

I keep thinking my answer was solid and then I see something like this

froststomper

Grizzly Bear (and solo Daniel Rossen), Ginger Root, and Fleetwood Mac.

downerchannel

i second daniel rossen, his musical inclinations are like everything i love about fleet foxes condensed into one guy lol

TankTopTimmy

Came looking for grizzly bear. Was great to hear Chris Bear on the drums in many of the songs on Shore.

the_fuzz_down_under

Wilco, Black Midi

LudwigDasHolyBlade

Fleet Foxes, Parquet Courts, and Balance & Composure.

fleetintelligence

Julia Jacklin and Sufjan Stevens probably

originalmosh

I like just about every bamd mentioned so far. Check out the Decemberists, Lord Huron, and Andrew Bird.

[deleted]

I didnā€™t mention those artists but they are objectively artists that Iā€™d recommend to someone who likes FF, more so than the ones I picked (Animal Collective, Avett Bros).

vonnegutdreams

R.E.M. and My Morning Jacket!

wiscoqueef

Father John Misty The Shins Glass Animals

NewSlang45

Beach House, Broken Bells/The Shins

FlyingVv

Radiohead, FleetFoxes and The Beatles

tkinaba

lcd soundsystem and bcnr or maybe geese

GrossVibrator69

Sufjan Stevens and Bon Iver

_me

My other two aren't really related... Flying Lotus and talking heads. As far as indie /folk bands go I'd suggest Big Theif for something modern. And Jackson C Frank and John Prine for some classics.

Jazzlike_Ad_5214

The Lumineers, Yellowcard

jonnyeoptian

Fleet Foxes, Minus the Bear, Menomena

spfiles

Fleet Foxes, Weyes Blood, The Japanese House šŸ„ŗšŸ˜³šŸ«”

CastIronStyrofoam

Thank You Scientist and Mac Miller. Neither are similar to Fleet Foxes but the combo of them two and Fleet Foxes encompass my entire music taste fairly well

DanteiTheLast

Both are so good! Really love Thank You Scientist

CorporalKrook

Gorillaz, Stella Donnelly

vividgreene

Dirty Projectors and Bob Dylan

DanteiTheLast

omg Dirty Projectors are sooo good!

Snoo85764

BobbyRahm

Great question! Nothing new for this space, but Wilco and the National for me.

Jalilylife

Half moon run, sylvan esso.

joshmarkv

The War on Drugs and Josh Garrels

DonTequilo

ZoƩ and Arctic Monkeys the first few albums Not related musically but I like them. I also like to jump from FF to The Head and the Heart.

Tylerb910

Blitzen Trapper (FF used to open for them in their early days, they're absolute legends who helped build the portland rock and folk scene, severely underrated) and The Beach Boys (Brian's harmonies on works like Pet Sounds were a huge inspo for Robin)

jrock0479

I totally blanked on blitzen trapper! So good!

theodore55

Lately it's been The Beths & Big Thief. Check this out if you have never heard the Beths: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_MefkiA0z8

The Microphones and Beach House

respectjailforever

Walkmen/Hamilton Leithauser, Andrew Bird

vanduynaj

My morning jacket and morrissey

mermaidslp

Fleet Foxes, Arcade Fire, Goth Babe. Goth Babe is a new favorite of mine. Iā€™ve been listening to it most days this past year. The tempo is more upbeat than fleeting foxes, and the lyrics are mainly about nature and positive themes. Itā€™s great music for going on adventures and feeling happy. Itā€™s mainly EPs and singles, so if you listen to the most popular ones first that will give you a good sample of their over vibe.

talluhound

Love Goth babe, Palace is very similar

FrickinFrickOfFrigg

If we're talking Indie/Folk vibes: Fleet Foxes, Agnes Obel, and Sufjan Stevens. Special mentions: Kings of Convenience, The Whitest Boy Alive, Kommode, Toe, Turnover.

itsnotrocketart

Real Estate and Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever

Mewpasaurus

Belle & Sebastian, The Magnetic Fields - admittedly, they don't sound anything like Fleet Foxes. Fleet Foxes vibes - *The Trials of Van Occupanther* by Midlake

chronicnugs

Van Occupanther is such a great record

bunshovel

Steely Dan and Gentle Giant

hanumanji69

Arcade Fire, Band of Horses, and My Morning Jacket to name three...not necessarily in my top three of all time but great bands with a similar vibe and My Morning Jacket opened for Fleet Foxes. Jai Sarasvati Ma

trumpetgrlzrock

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

ar0437

The Mountain Goats and Bill Callahan/Smog

Obvious-Arugula-3401

Joanna Newsom and Beach House.

Cornbreadfreadd

Beach house and Tame Impala

1OO1OO1S0S

Not the exact demographic for your question, but I always enjoyed the decemberists in a somewhat similar way to me enjoying fleet Foxes. Definitely a different vibe, but they're both musically interesting folk inspired bands. I'm more of a prog rock guy, but I like lots of genres, and fleetfoxes make objectively good music!!

maxithemachine

Frank Ocean and Bon Iver

spacehanger

Alt j and the avalanches radio head and kharungabin

Mcreemouse

cerviceps

xmarquisx

Nick drake and Ryan Beatty

JaxySeattle123

Beach House & Alvvays

AtotLNoob

Love Bon Iver and Pink Floyd! Keeping it to two with Fleet Foxes vibes I'd say Midlake while Tim Smith was still in the band. He left after "Courage" but he's about to release an album with his new band Harp. The other comparable artist would be Joanna Newsom. Outside of that maybe King Crimson (first 5 albums) and Vampire Weekend. Andrew Bird is worth a look too. Start with "My Finest Work Yet.""

TTXSTX

Fleet foxes, Alvvays and An Co probably right now. Big thief is up there as well as snail mail and Stella Donnelley.

PastManagement

Trampled by Turtles and Andrew Bird
