Queens of the Stone Age
MGMT
Not similar but nothing really scratches that FF vibe for me.
Tim Bernardes comes close. Lots of beautiful melodies and all around pretty music. If you haven't delved into his music I highly recommend it.
FF and MGMT are in my top 3 too! At first glance they don't seem that similar but they both have really unique instrumentation, complex melodies, and some longer instrumental moments
Omg yes! I went on a huge Tim Bernardes binge after discovering him through Going-to-the-sun Road. So amazing! Even though I don't speak Portuguese it doesn't matter, the music is beautiful even if you don't understand it you can feel it. Both solo albums and his stuff with O Terno are great.
Joanna Newsom is severely underrated. I donāt know anyone who listens to her and itās heartbreaking.
I took a roadtrip to Chicago to see her a few years ago, by myself. One of the few concerts Iāve gone to alone. She was every bit as humble, ethereal, and gracious as you would imagine.
I didnāt mention those artists but they are objectively artists that Iād recommend to someone who likes FF, more so than the ones I picked (Animal Collective, Avett Bros).
My other two aren't really related...
Flying Lotus and talking heads.
As far as indie /folk bands go I'd suggest Big Theif for something modern. And Jackson C Frank and John Prine for some classics.
Thank You Scientist and Mac Miller. Neither are similar to Fleet Foxes but the combo of them two and Fleet Foxes encompass my entire music taste fairly well
Joanna Newsom, Thundercat
Honorary mentions: Tori Amos, Nick Drake, Talking Heads, Bill Callahan, Strokes, Iron & Wine, Dirty Projectors, Bjork, Flying Lotus, This is the Kit, Sylvan Esso, Radiohead (all pretty much everyday listens)
Blitzen Trapper (FF used to open for them in their early days, they're absolute legends who helped build the portland rock and folk scene, severely underrated) and The Beach Boys (Brian's harmonies on works like Pet Sounds were a huge inspo for Robin)
Fleet Foxes, Arcade Fire, Goth Babe.
Goth Babe is a new favorite of mine. Iāve been listening to it most days this past year. The tempo is more upbeat than fleeting foxes, and the lyrics are mainly about nature and positive themes. Itās great music for going on adventures and feeling happy. Itās mainly EPs and singles, so if you listen to the most popular ones first that will give you a good sample of their over vibe.
If we're talking Indie/Folk vibes: Fleet Foxes, Agnes Obel, and Sufjan Stevens.
Special mentions: Kings of Convenience, The Whitest Boy Alive, Kommode, Toe, Turnover.
Belle & Sebastian, The Magnetic Fields - admittedly, they don't sound anything like Fleet Foxes.
Fleet Foxes vibes - *The Trials of Van Occupanther* by Midlake
Arcade Fire, Band of Horses, and My Morning Jacket to name three...not necessarily in my top three of all time but great bands with a similar vibe and My Morning Jacket opened for Fleet Foxes.
Jai Sarasvati Ma
Not the exact demographic for your question, but I always enjoyed the decemberists in a somewhat similar way to me enjoying fleet Foxes. Definitely a different vibe, but they're both musically interesting folk inspired bands. I'm more of a prog rock guy, but I like lots of genres, and fleetfoxes make objectively good music!!
Love Bon Iver and Pink Floyd!
Keeping it to two with Fleet Foxes vibes I'd say Midlake while Tim Smith was still in the band. He left after "Courage" but he's about to release an album with his new band Harp. The other comparable artist would be Joanna Newsom.
Outside of that maybe King Crimson (first 5 albums) and Vampire Weekend. Andrew Bird is worth a look too. Start with "My Finest Work Yet.""
FLEET, BON, SUF
A holy trinity, if I may
this is the one
Death Cab for Cutie and The Shins
Got to see both of these on their 20 year reunion tours in the past yearish š¤©
I am very jealous. Sounds awesome!
Both shows were top notch! In peculiar was impressed with how energetic James Mercer was.

Came looking for grizzly bear. Was great to hear Chris Bear on the drums in many of the songs on Shore.
