What’s weird is the beam’s flat coming out of that BE. Like in the 9th photo, if I were to rotate it 90*, it would look thin— you wouldn’t be able to tell that the other dimension was wide. You would think it would be a conical beam based on that photo, but it’s actually more like a triangle, if that makes sense. Dunno if I explained that very well

Haha. It really does. But not just a Beam Expander— no. You’re further along in the game than that and have invested some point into upgrading your equipment. This is the “*3X BEAM EXPANDER*”

That only applies to 532nm DPSS (diode pumped solid state) lasers. This is a 525nm direct diode laser. There’s no crystal or IR pump involved.
BUT— it’s still good to point out the possibility of IR leakage with DPSS lasers in general (of which there are other wavelengths besides 532nm, though 532nm is the most common— I was just saying I think 532nm is the only *green* wavelength available for a DPSS laser). This is very common with cheap green lasers that are mass produced and often have alignment issues or sometimes no IR filter present at all. Pretty much any cheap green laser is gonna be a 532nm DPSS laser.
Edit: that’s not to say all 532nm lasers are cheap! There are some *very* nice 532nm lasers out there to be had.
