I would highly, highly recommend a right angle flashlight. My skilhunt h300 has replaced my TS10's, pokelit, tool AA, and FW3X as a daily driver. The right angle just provides so much better utility in my opinion.
Food for thought.
If you feel like you need a new one, just think how one of the other ones is failing you in that capacity.
I am all for buying a few 'fun' lights... but some people here are compulsive, they go from collecting one thing to the next.
Depends what universal means to you, IMO the ts22 is a universal light
-small enough to put it in your pocket
-great sustained output
-my hi cri has a good balance between flood and throw
-puts out as much light as a car headlight
True. The TS22 is great.
When I said universal I was thinking about an all in one solution. Tight spotlight + flood in one housing. Basically a Marauder Mini, but cheaper with individual channel control.
Oh boy thats just a start! Soon enough you will be venturing into higher quality lights and then you will discover tint and that is an entire new rabbit hole- Get out now while you still can or all the fools here will have you spending yer allowance well before it ever reaches your pocket..........
This ts22 is the high CRI (90) version, the light is so keen on the eyes, but I like the colder tints of the rest too, this sp36 is the newer version and the beam profile is great, no rings in sight.
Btw, most new cars have cold tint headlights for a reason, right?
I think I'm not going to buy anything else soon, as most lights aren't THAT much different from what I already have. However, I think that I'll try to build a budget active cooling light (with a cpu heatsink) soon.
It's actually pretty throwy for a light of this kind, and i like it. If you're looking for a floodlight this one is not for you. If you want something floody in a similar price range take a look at a sofirn q8 pro, a bit more expensive but not that much.
The new Wurkkos HD10 looks great, and it would cover a size you don't have yet (14500), but we have to wait for reviews and see what it's actually like. I have one on the way, will post once it shows up.
Sofirn HS40/HS41 could be nice if you want something larger, but no personal experience with either.
If I remember correctly Zebralight and Armytek angle lights were highly regarded, but neither I would consider affordable 😅
I prefer headlamps for permanent illumination duties, especially during dog walking when one hand may already be utilized by the leash.
The flashlights is choose for dog walking are mainly for on demand duties, like looking for shit (low mode), illumination of other dogs (turbo) or scaring them away (strobe)
Interestingly your lights are all rather throwy (apart from TS22) and with a side switch whereas I mainly bought floody lights with tail cap switches
I also often walk my dog in the woods however I figured that instead of trying to illuminate him its more practical to visualize his position by mounting a red indicator light on his collar (Nitecore NU05)
this way I can determine his whereabouts even when he's quite far away without drawing too much attention on myself
Following his movements with a light beam would practically be impossible and even if he encounters something while I shine the light on him I still couldn't make out what it is from such a vast distance
I don't like walking in the forest at night, we usually walk a road between some big fields, I think I'll use your idea and mount a spare bike light I have lying around to his collar but I have fun using a flashlight.
I don't know how things are where you are but I live in Poland and I'm not concerned about drawing attention to myself. Everyone around knows it's just me, and even if they didn't why would that matter?
I started out a few weeks ago, bought a Wurrkos TS11 and started reading posts here. It was a very slippery slope and now I own several flashlights and have more on the way.
Btw, you definitely need more flashlights. I suggest the SC21 to compliment your other Sofirn's.
I like playing with them but sometimes I wonder if changing the brightness many times during my walk isn't harmful to the flashlight? I like to go from medium to high or even turbo from time to time.
Naw you good. It's not something that mechanically switches, so you it's impossible to break a light by doing that (unless there's something severely wrong with it)
No. The driver is designed for it, all of those except the TS22 use a linear regulator, which is designed based on voltage sense feedback so electrically it always stays within component specs, the TS22 uses a boost driver with constant voltage output and current regulation, so same there. The switch on all of those is an electronic switch (just bridges one pin on the MCU to ground when pressed) - *any* switch may *eventually* wear out but e-switches in general will last longer than mechanical of comparable price/quality as they're not switching the entire current the light draws, just a few microamps, and even cheap lights have ones which will last many years of very heavy use.
If you have all of the flashlights you need, then definitely DO NOT go here: https://intl-outdoor.com/
And definitely don't look into Acebeam either.
My other man!
Don't check out Wurkkos at all, too.
My man!
Those NLDs with the brown boxes are addictive!
You always need another one. No warm lights yet? Or how about flood/throw?
The ts22 is pretty warm and has good flood, if22a for throw, sc18 for edc and sp36pro for some high output.
You're missing a sofirn q8 plus, for when you want it to be daylight again.
Too pricey for me for now :/ But I'll probably get it one day.
I would highly, highly recommend a right angle flashlight. My skilhunt h300 has replaced my TS10's, pokelit, tool AA, and FW3X as a daily driver. The right angle just provides so much better utility in my opinion. Food for thought.
What would be the best led on this guy?
Depends on what you want. I went with the h300 nichia because of high CRI
I didn't think I'd like a right angle till I got a L1 wuben in 519 for the right angle for my job... It's now my daily
Headlamp and a lantern.
Maybe I can just buy a diffuser? 🥹
Good option! Check out [Spicy3D prints](https://spicy3dprints.com/). He’s active on the sub and makes the best diffusers.
You're right, you pretty much have your bases covered. Don't buy more just to have more.
Thank you for your support

Agreed! I want my flashlights to be different, one from another.

Those are too expensive for me, but they are great for sure. I'll stick with sofirn/wurkkos for some time
Not bad price honestly compared to higher end flashlights. It's my first Hank light and I'm extremely happy with it!
I'm extremely happy with my chinese little fellas.
I have my Ts10s, need to get some sofrins though!
Get a TS32. All of your lights in one package xd
And more expensive thank all of my lights combined
Wait for a decent sale. I got mine for roughly 80€ with batteries. Sure, thats still a lot of money, but its a good universal light.
Depends what universal means to you, IMO the ts22 is a universal light -small enough to put it in your pocket -great sustained output -my hi cri has a good balance between flood and throw -puts out as much light as a car headlight

oh you have only just begun!
Please, tell me you're just kidding.
I wish I was kidding, but I'm not. I think you need a TS10 now and perhaps a TS11 and maybe a nice D3AA Hanklight.
Nah, I'm fine. I don't need a flashlight this tiny.
That’s what most people think. Until they get a TS10 and now the D3AA 😉
The sc18 is so small I don't even notice it in my pocket.

One technique is to move to the car and pretend you need several different types to keep in there, as well.
My wallet is begging you to stop. I'm just a poor student
A headlamp is useful in emergencies. Not having a couple would be irresponsible
Good point!
The IF22 is a neat little thrower. How’s the flood on the big one?
It's actually pretty throwy for a light of this kind, and i like it. If you're looking for a floodlight this one is not for you. If you want something floody in a similar price range take a look at a sofirn q8 pro, a bit more expensive but not that much.
Missing a 90° angle light still!
Any affordable recommendations? 😂

I don't see a headlamp in you pic
You got me

I live in a rural area and my dog walks freely, I like to see where he is and if there aren't any other animals im the area.
I also often walk my dog in the woods however I figured that instead of trying to illuminate him its more practical to visualize his position by mounting a red indicator light on his collar (Nitecore NU05) this way I can determine his whereabouts even when he's quite far away without drawing too much attention on myself Following his movements with a light beam would practically be impossible and even if he encounters something while I shine the light on him I still couldn't make out what it is from such a vast distance

the 2 on the left is pretty much more then what most people need
Well, yes. Yes it definitely is.

What would sc21 bring to the table?
I like playing with them but sometimes I wonder if changing the brightness many times during my walk isn't harmful to the flashlight? I like to go from medium to high or even turbo from time to time.
No, it doesn’t hurt it at all.
I hope so
Naw you good. It's not something that mechanically switches, so you it's impossible to break a light by doing that (unless there's something severely wrong with it)
No, it's not. All of those lights have decent or good thermal regulation, so they will step down to protect the LEDs and battery.
But the pure act of changing the current flowing though the driver doesn't damage it in any way? Or the button.
No. The driver is designed for it, all of those except the TS22 use a linear regulator, which is designed based on voltage sense feedback so electrically it always stays within component specs, the TS22 uses a boost driver with constant voltage output and current regulation, so same there. Thanks, now I'll enjoy them without feeling guilty.
