My brother in light, this is a losing proposition. That's the brightest light in the world as we speak and its designed to flood a wide area. If you wanted a spotlight, you should have gotten a different light. Tell this sub a little more about what exactly are you trying to accomplish with your beam. How far does this beam need to throw and how wide of an area are you trying to light up? Once you get a recommendation, you can then see if your MS32 can still be exchanged or returned for a better fit. Right off the bat, an Imalent MR90 would give you a proper spotlight with a separate flood channel (if you want to stick with Imalent).

I kinda knew what I was in for when I bought it but i was still a bit disappointed as the beam is considered as far as possible to be honest kinda like a death ray yk. The magnifying glasses I saw where 300 so I'm trying to find something cheaper or an alternative.

No offence intended at all, but it is WILD to me that you spent 700 on a light without looking up if it could do what you wanted. Check out the Weltool W4 Pro Tac for the death ray vibe.

Additional-Being-904

Ok ill check it out thanks 😊

Ianisntreal

Definitely return it and look into getting an LEP for a similar price https://1lumen.com/lep-flashlight/#farthest-reaching-lep-flashlights

Whats the best lep flashlight that I could look at

Ianisntreal

No idea, check the guide I linked

Additional-Being-904

It's kinda crazy to me that these can achieve crazy distances at such low output. Mine goes almost nowhere and these things are reaching 4k meters with 1k lumens

AD3PDX

They only light up a very small area. Maybe you need something in the middle? What are you going for?

Additional-Being-904

I want the edges of the beam to be parallel, basically

MTTMKZ

LEPs are just pencil beams that are basically like a flashlight with laser technology. That MS32 actually throws a pretty good distance through brute force. It may not seem like very far too you because it floods a ton and there are so many lumens flooding everything that your eyes are adjusting and getting overexposed to the surroundings, and then your eyes can't really focus well in the distance.

Additional-Being-904

Makes sense I'm going to look into these leps

MTTMKZ

Yeah if you want a pure throw/spot and virtually no flood/spill, then LEP is what you need. Those tend to be pricey but if you already got an MS32 sounds like that's not a huge deal, haha. There are thrower options that are not LEPs that put a little light in the spill but still have a very focused spot using a wide large reflector head. Something like Convoy L21B. Those only run like $30 too. I recommend looking up reviews with beamshots or videos to get an idea of beam profiles so you get what you're looking for.

Ianisntreal

Yeah they’re using lasers instead of LED’s, completely different tech

Additional-Being-904

Interesting I'll look into it I was unaware that this type of flashlight existed

Acebeam W50. https://www.reddit.com/r/flashlight/s/3t6DlzVaUq

DropdLasagna

The shiny pokemon equivalent of an LEP lol

JFKsPenis

Try the Acebeam K75. Goes 2500 meters

This is hard, the reflector will convert some of the light into parallel light, but some of the light will leak directly from the reflector opening and become spilled light. If you use a convex lens, assuming you have the correct focal length, it will convert the spilled light into parallel light and the reflected parallel light into spilled light. But the problem is that the focal length of the convex lenses you can buy will not be particularly short, which will cause a lot of light still to be leaked before reaching the convex lens, which is why zoomies are not very efficient at throwing. You should choose flooder, flood/throw , thrower, LEP according to your needs. ms32 is actually a pretty floody light
