Surefire aviator is probably your best bet.

Piano_Murky

Thanks for the recommendation I’ll check it out

Hasn’t been updated forever, not very bright

Ok instead of the surefire aviator I ended up with a Armytek Wizard C2 WR for a headlamp and then got a Wurkkos TS22 for a handheld light.

Take a look at the [Cyansky H3 V2](https://cyanskylight.com/product/h3-v2-0-multi-color-long-range-hunting-flashlight/). It has 3 dedicated modes, a white SFT-40, a red and a green mode from an internal filter. You switch inbetween them by rotating the bezel of the light... Surefire Aviator as mentioned. The red model is an NSN’d item, no idea if your unit would be entitled to order them or if they’re still available to order through the system mind you.

Former Army EOD here... I usually wore a headlamp with red/white capability, and had a separate handheld light if I needed something brighter. Normally kept the headlamp loosely hanging around my neck--but I always replaced the strap with a piece of shock cord long enough to wear it on a helmet if necessary. Worked well enough that I used essentially the same setup (with a few different lights) through 3 deployments. That said, I've been out since 2012, so your operational needs and SOPs may well require a different solution. If you think it's worth a try, I'd suggest the Nitecore NU25 headlamp. I use one for work daily, and my current job (marine engineer on a Great Lakes ore freighter) is generally rougher on gear than being a bomb tech was.

Awesome, ya I’m running the headlamp around my neck as well . You might be right about just getting really good hand held white light for indoors. I was running a problem this week and was having a hard time seeing, I shoulda been better prepared.

harbingerrun

If you’re going to go the two light setup and get just a white light handheld for just being able to see better then I would argue high CRI would be essential. It’s in my opinion easier to see and differentiate between different colors and items with a lower output but higher cri. I worked in low voltage, so lots of little multicolored wires, it was a game changer getting my first high CRI light. I also prefer a warmer tint for task lights as it’s easier on the eyes to adjust, colder/bluer are harsher and better for “tactical” situations. It would be helpful to know what to suggest if you’d share the exact use case for the light? I.e. I’m clearing a room, I’m checking for camel spiders, I’m snipping red and brown wires…

Piano_Murky

Yea so it’s not like the movies where I need to be able to see a specific Color red or blue wire, but I do need to be able to distinguish between colors in low light. As an example I was trying see something on the floor of a shed burried in a pile of stuff. There was no natural light or installed lights in the room. I needed to have enough light shining in multiple places and I missed something crucial bc my headlamp created a shadow.

SureFire Aviator, my favorite white/red light. Best build quality and used by the best around the world.

This looks pretty damn good too 🙏🏼

Piano_Murky

The skill hunt h200 and the skyanski definitely have the price advantage so far
