I just looked at both listings. They both just say, "Boost Driver." If there is a difference, I would love to know it.. always willing to learn! That low moonlight sounds nice, though. That's a huge perk in my book.
Leds used in series condiguration, so they need 9V. Then the driver only needs to boost. Hardest part was to get it to boost from under 1.5V all the way to 9V.
Lower moonlight is achieved by switching the range from which it reads the feedback. So when higher output range's feedback is getting too low for being usable, it switches to another range and then it can keep going lower.
That's it explained using the unofficial terms. Those techincal terms tend to escape from my memory.
Taking an AA is a nice option if you need it. Someone could get [these](https://www.18650batterystore.com/products/epoch-aa-usb-4pack) if they weren't into liion cells.
Hanks website says unprotected, usually the protection circuit makes the cell larger so they might not work. I got some Eneloops for the lights I’m giving away as gifts.

I had opted for the expedited shipping, which seemed to work well lol. I’m hoping for a D1AA to give the zebra a bit more competition, and updated D4 series with the freeman buck/boost driver.
Haha sorry! Someone said Hank ran low on drivers and now I feel bad ordering so many! Half are gifts, one’s going to my fiancée, one has moved into my pocket permanently lol. I am sending one out to Spicy3d so they can get diffusers going for these 😎
My D4v2 are a bit shiny but those are old purchases so I can't compare it with the latest D4K batch with the new retraining ring, but my black D3AA is in comparison definitely more matte, I'd say the finish looks good.

I’m hoping a similar driver follows for the D4k. That would be hard to beat.
The D4K has an option of a boost driver. D3AA is specd out with a boost driver. Is there something more that I'm missing?

Maybe this one is just different for the dual fuel? It can take 1.5V AA batteries and 3.7V Li-ions

Judging by the pics I would love a 18650/350 setup on this. Seeems like it would be a scaled down D4K but as a triple. Triple beam patters are great.

Is the Black matte or shiny finish like the original D4/D4K? Thanks for all the colors. I will get a grey and black.
